Six year old Charlie had a race car bed. It was painted red with the number five on the side facing the door, and Alex had built it from hand. Charlie loved the bed more than anything; though it wasn’t a toy, he loved to pretend he was a race car driver while turning his body and making screeching sounds and ‘vrooming’ noises.
The mattress was stiff, something Charlie didn’t seem to mind. Alex did though, he hated sitting on it while reading his son bedtime stories. He’d just shut The Lorax, and was ready to leave, hoping to get some feeling back in his butt, when Charlie spoke up.
“Daddy?” he asked, his voice tiny, boy-ish, Alex thought he was going to ask for another story since he didn’t sound remotely tired.
“Yeah Charlie?” If he hated anything more than the mattress it was Doctor Seuss- his son’s favorite author -and his dumb rhymes and made up words.
“Why don’t we ever visit mommy parents?” For a second Alex was thrown, his jaw dropped slightly. He knew his son was smart and observant, but it never crossed his mind that Charlie would ever ask about his in-laws.
“Why don’t we ever see mommy’s mommy and daddy like we see yours?” Alex chewed at his lip for a second.
“It’s hard to explain Charlie,” Alex started to say.
“Why’s it hard?” Charlie asked again.
“Well, mommy’s dad didn’t like me. Neither did her mom,but her liked me more then her daddy did-”
“Why didn’t they like you daddy?” Charlie cried indignantly, sitting up, “You’re the best daddy in the whole world!” Alex smiled at Charlie. His wife always said that Charlie looked like him-his jaw line and eyebrows -but with his eyebrows together angry and a pout on his lips, Alex could see more of you in him than ever before.
“I don’t know Charlie, they just didn’t.” He ran a hand through his sons hair.
“That’s dumb, they’re dumb.” Alex snorted, “Do you want me to finish telling you why?” Charlie nodded, but he kept his arms crossed over his chest and his lips together tightly.
“Her daddy didn’t want me to marry mommy-” Charlie’s jaw dropped in shock, “-see when I was little my daddy told me to talk to the father of the woman you want to marry and ask for his blessing. So I asked her father but her daddy said no you can’t marry my daughter.”
“But you two got married?” Charlie frowned, confused.
“We did,” Alex smiled as he remembered you in short white dress you’d borrowed from Raven.
Alex leaned in real close to his son and with a mischievous smile, he told him, “We ran away together and then had you.” Though it was more ‘we found out we were having you and then planned a shotgun courthouse wedding’. Charlie looked at his father shocked and wide eyed.
“Now,” Alex instructed, pushing Charlie back down against his pillow, “Go to sleep, bud. You want to be big and tall like Uncle Bozo.”
“Hey daddy,” Charlie called out as Alex walked over to the door,
You were lounging on the sofa with Tyler, a movie playing
softly on the television. Snuggled into his chest; his arms were fastened
securely around your waist, his chin resting on the top of your head. It was
getting late and you’d have to leave soon, but you were enjoying your time
alone with Tyler. You heard the patter of small footsteps coming down the
hallway; turning your heads you saw Tyler’s son, Charlie, appeared in the
doorway dragging a worn fleece blanket behind him.
“Daddy, I had a nightmare.” he sniffled; the
lashes covering his bright brown eyes were damp with tears. Gosh, did that
little boy look like his daddy.
“It’s alright, Charlie.” he said as he slipped his
arms from your waist and stood up. “I’ll be right back.” he whispered
to you, placing a soft kiss to your forehead.
You watched as Tyler knelt down next to his son and spoke
comforting words to him in a hushed voice before scooping him up in his arms
and carrying him back to his room. You loved watching the two of them together.
Tyler and Charlie’s mother hadn’t planned on having a baby.
After the birth she had left Tyler with sole custody and hadn’t been in touch
since. In the four years since then, Tyler had taken it upon himself to be the
best parent possible; growing up a lot himself during that time. He didn’t like
letting people into the safe and sheltered world he had created for Charlie;
unwilling to expose his son to other people who may or may not stick around.
You had been dating for a little under a year, and you had managed to earn Tyler’s
trust and he let you in. Sort of. Although you had spent time with Charlie, Tyler
didn’t let you get too close. You knew how protective Tyler was and you didn’t
want to push anything on him.
You stood up with a yawn and began gathering your things as Tyler
came sauntering back into the living room and flopped down on the sofa.
“Hey babe, I’m going to head home.” you said,
picking your bag off the floor. As you turned to face him he sighed loudly,
rubbing his hands down his face. “Tyler, what’s wrong?” you asked, sitting
beside him, rubbing a hand across his broad shoulders.
“I just don’t know what I’m going to do with Charlie
when we go on our trip next week. His normal sitter is on vacation; my parents and
sisters are really busy right now, they can’t fly in.” he said tiredly.
“I hate leaving him with new sitters; he doesn’t do well with people he
doesn’t know; especially with the nightmares he’s been having recently.”
he explained, closing his eyes in frustration.
“He knows me, I could watch him.” you stated
simply. You suddenly realized what you had said and your mouth dropped open,
surprised at your own words.
Tyler’s eyes flew open and he stared at you, his eyes studying
your face. You couldn’t read his expression and it worried you. Did he think
you were trying to force yourself into their lives? Didn’t he trust you enough
to leave his child in your care?
“Sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I don’t want to
make you feel like I’m intruding—” you began nervously.
“No, no, no.” Tyler said, cutting you off. He sat
up straighter and placed a hand gently on your knee. “Do you really want
to watch him? I don’t want you to feel like you have to. I know you’re busy
with work and everything else going on in your life right now.”
“I really do, Tyler. I’ll switch my schedule to work
around his pre-school hours. You’ll only be gone for a little over a week. I’d
like to get to know Charlie better.” you said, offering him a small smile.
“If you’ll let me.” you added quickly.
“You want to get to know Charlie better?” Tyler
“Of course I do. I love you Tyler, and Charlie is a
huge part of your life. We’ve been together for almost a year, and I plan on
sticking around; I think it’d be good for us to know each other better.”
you said, praying Tyler would understand how much you wanted him to fully let
you into their lives.
Tyler bit his lower lip; once again he stared at you. Before
any worrisome thoughts could cross your mind, Tyler wrapped his arms around you
and pulled you to his chest; one hand caressing your back, the other wound
through your hair, keeping you close to him.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you.” he murmured
into your hair.

Supernatural Preference- What You Do Together When You’re Feeling Crappy
Samandriel doesn’t really like going out a lot and would prefer to stay in with you. Large crowds make him anxious and would much rather prefer to learn about humans from his favourite one. “Samandriel, can we please just stay in today and watch some movie? I really don’t feel up to doing much.” You ask him with as much of a smile as you can muster. “Thats fine by me!” He tells you excited as he sits beside you in bed.
Charlie would let you spend the whole day ranting about whatever it was that was making you feel shitty. These rants usually turned into great hourly long talks with the best friend ever. “Y/N, I know somethings up with you and I will let you rant about it as much as you need. I don’t care what words you use I just think you need to get it out of your system.” Your good friend Charlie says as she sees you sitting miserably at a table in the library while she does some research. “Alright, so it started with this bitch!….”
Jo would want to try and get you out of the house and do something that would make you happy. Diners for milkshakes and blurting it all out was the way to go with Jo. “Hey, come on Y/N.” She says tapping on your window as she gets out the car, before you both head into the diner.
Castiel would want to hear whats wrong, but during the way of talking to him you’d say something he didn’t understand and you’d either end up talking about the reference, watching a movie or tv show. “I guess you could say that the force was not with me in that moment.” You tell the angel with a half sad chuckle. “I don’t understand that reference and am not entirely sure what it is you’re talking about.” Castiel tells you innocently. “No way! Oh your dad! Nope, uh uh, you are not going to be a friend of mine and not see Star Wars!” You tell him excitedly as you get your collecting of the movies out to watch.

shaking finger he points to the corpse of the man I shot. The reality of the
situation hits me, I never really thought about the people I killed. They could
have been the parents of innocent children, or the children of unexpecting parents.
Now I was left to face the child of the man I just murdered.

knowing what to do or say, “Um, where’s your mom?”
shakes his head, “I don’t have one.”
“Do you have
any other family?” He shakes his head again, “I’m so sorry, I- goddamn it, come

I take his hand
and guide him out of the alleyway, “He was a bad man you know.”
I look down
in surprise when the boy makes this comment, “What do you mean?”
He pulls up
his shirt and reveals a large scar on his tiny torso, surrounded by smaller
burns and bruises, “He did this. He did the same to my mom before she-”

He says in a small voice, “Thank you for saving me from him. He was a monster.”
I nod in
agreement with him, and I’m suddenly taken aback when he wraps his arms around
my neck and hugs me, “What’s your name?”

Eric… Who’s this?”

A few weeks

side, and she adores his company.
after putting Charlie to bed she comes up to me, “Eric?”
“I think I’m
ready to sign those adoption papers,” I instantly put my laptop down and look
at her hopefully, “We’ve been trying for ages to have a kid of our own and we
can’t. Maybe this is meant to be. Charlie hasn’t been in our lives for long,
but I’ve fallen in love with the kid, and I can tell that you have as well. Maybe
it’s time that we officially became his parents.”
I can’t help
but place a gentle kiss on her lips, “That’s great babe. We’ll send in the
papers first thing in the morning.”
I guess it
was finally time to call myself a father.
Request: Hey can u do one where the reader is Charlie’s nanny and after a long time after grace dies you and you guys fall for each other
Nanny - Tommy Shelby
It was only for a short time but when you started on at the Shelby household you had known Grace. More than Tommy even, who you rarely saw looking after his son. You were always called to take the child from Grace. Nannying for the family felt odd before Grace died; she was a very involved mother. She always wanted to be there for Charlie and insisted that you needn’t take him unless there was an emergency that she couldn’t come look after him. So you rarely stepped in. Until she was killed and the emergency she suggested became regular everyday life.
