Charles Manson after his arrest at Barker Ranch, in October 1969
Manson and others were arrested after a police raid at Barker Ranch. The motive for the raid was the fact that him some members of the “family” had set fire to an earth moving equipment in the Death Valley area. Manson was found inside the house hiding in a cabinet under the sink by an officer who had gone to use the bathroom. By this time authorities still hadn’t linked them to the Tate/La Bianca murders.
“People said I was a leader. Here’s the kind of leader I was. I made sure toilets were clean. I made sure the animals were fed. Any sores on the horses? I’d heal them. Anything need fixing? I’d fix it. I was always the one to do everything nobody wanted to do. Cats need feeding? I’d feed them. When it was cold, I was always the last one to get a blanket.”
Spiritual thinkers have realized the importance of directing the mind to great ideas rather than keeping it at the level of daily routines which absorb you with the petty, the tiresome, and the disconcerting.
I like money. I believe that it is God’s Activity, that it is good. I use it with wisdom. I release it with joy. I send it forth without fear, for I know that under a Divine Law, it comes back to me increased and multiplied.
