This Chardonnay from my friends at Sbragia Family Vineyards makes me smile! Lemon, pear, apple, crème, coconut, dill, and thyme on the nose. Lemons with some malolactic notes of cream (not quite butter), sweet Golden Delicious apples and some tart green apples as well. Solid acidity, especially for a California Chardonnay (and alcohol level)! Cheers!

Wine Wednesday: Winemaker Stéphane Vivier, a French expat, uses Burgundian winemaking techniques, like fermenting in enormous French foudres and meticulously sorting grapes after harvest, to make his fantastic Carneros Chardonnays. HdV’s on-site sommelier, Eddie Townsend, leads guests through the cellar. Here, more of the best Napa Valley wineries.
Heheh. I’m on a bench with this Bench wine! Apples, lemon skin, and melon skin on the nose with a touch of green herbs and minerality. Lemon, vanilla (but not overly malolactic), and lime on the palate with tart acidity, a hint of salinity, and a nice mineral finish.
Picked some fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes from a garden where we are staying. Then corked a very nice Chardonnay from Cakebread Cellars. Plated an Octopus and pasta dish with said fresh pickings. Now to catch a little The Walking Dead.
An absolutely amazing trip enjoying a #chardonnay on the #luxury #yacht @aqua_expeditions We headed up the #mekong river in #vietnam and #cambodia with @shannonshiang and @michaelaguzy for several days. Thanks for a wonderful expedition and @otpym (at Mekong River)
This is some truly phenomenal dessert wine by the esteemed Alois Kracher in Austria, who has since passed but was a close friend and business partner of Manfred Krankl of Sine Qua Non fame in California. Imagine the wines when those two hung out! Quite the delicious nose on this - peach, tropical fruit, butterscotch, sweet pecans, honey, white oak, beechwood, and lemon. Lovely, coppery color to this wine too. Full, rich mouthfeel on the palate. Peaches, vanilla, HONEY, apricots, white wood, and macadamia nuts with a delicious crème brulée finish. RICH.
A variation of a southern classic, chicken and biscuits. I used a fresh baked bread in place of biscuits and added a hint of ground red pepper to highlight the wonderful apple and pear notes of the wine. The hints of vanilla in the wine were also a nice touch to the meal.
