character never quits

“I have seen her. Walking across the courtyard from her first class this morning, her expression thoughtful, her book bag casually thrown over her shoulder. I had seen photographs, of course; I knew she wore clunky glasses and her hair in a youthful dreadlock style, that her clothes would be dynamic and colorful. I knew she would be 1.63 meters tall, that she would weigh 50kg, that she was coming away from a neurobiology class; I knew what to expect…But I was not prepared for her insouciant manner, the way she squinted and smiled up at the gathering rainclouds, aware of the gray weather in a way that the other students missed, immersed in their phones or conversations. I did not think she would kick at a pile of leaves. She walks loosely, comfortable in her skin, her face as open and expressive as Ms Hendrix’s is closed.” - from the diary of Dr. Delphine Cormier.

What? I love garbage.

“You don’t know what you’re asking, Jon. The Night’s Watch is a sworn brotherhood. We have no families. None of us will ever father sons. Our wife is duty. Our mistress is honor.”
“A bastard can have honor too,” Jon said. “I am ready to swear your oath."
You are a boy of fourteen,“ Benjen said. ”Not a man, not yet. Until you have known a woman, you cannot understand what you would be giving up.“
I don’t care about that!“ Jon said hotly.
"You might, if you knew what it meant,” Benjen said. “If you knew what the oath would cost you, you might be less eager to pay the price, son.” (AGOT)

“It may be that the Many-Faced God has led you here to be His instrument, but when I look at you I see a child … and worse, a girl child. Many have served Him of Many Faces through the centuries, but only a few of His servants have been women. “Women bring life into the world. We bring the gift of death. No one can do both.” He is trying to scare me away, Arya thought, the way he did with the worm.
I don’t care about that.
"You should.” (AFFC)

But can you pay the price?
“What price?”
“The price is you. The price is all you have and all you ever hope to have. We took your eyes and gave them back. Next we will take your ears, and you will walk in silence. You will give us your legs and crawl. You will be no one’s daughter, no one’s wife, no one’s mother. Your name will be a lie, and the very face you wear will not be your own.” (ADWD)

obviously, arya and jon have a great deal of parallels between them with the night’s watch and the faceless men. these two organizations demand arya and jon sacrifice all that makes them who they are: their homes, families, loves and allegiances ect. they no longer are permitted to be true individuals but servants of the realm and the gods, respectively. its a huge sacrifice. the price is high as both benjen and the faceless men point out. they have to give up their chance at a future for themselves. which very often includes finding love.

at 14 jon is still adamant that he doesnt care about being with a woman or love and he certainly won’t father any children out of wedlock. this is unthinkable to him because he’s young and just doesnt know any better. he knows nothing, one could say. of course, he goes onto fall for ygritte. and breaks his vows by laying with her. his future will very likely hold more romance too (….with dany, just so we’re clear)

which i think suggests arya could end up feeling the same. she’s only 11 and she has no interest in marrying or having children. which is completely understandable. all the more so because she’s a homeless, traumatized orphan. but theres no reason to assume her feelings won’t change as she grows older just as her brothers did. most little boys don’t dream of marriage and children but they often find themselves pursuing both at some point.she has more reason to be hesitant than her brothers as well since girls are often sold like cattle to the highest bidder. she also has a complicated relationship with femininity. girls in westeros need to be pretty and feminine to be seen as worthy of love. so arya believes herself to be unwanted and unloved. but i believe as she continues to grow she’ll realize thats not the truth. and that her future could very well include falling in love. honestly it almost definitely will knowing grrm.

Miranda watching the two men she loves more than anything fall in love with each other ( ಠ◡ಠ )

One of my favorite moments in the last episode was how happy Tony was with the game James gave him and how happy Teresa was because of it. I’ve wondered about that game. Did James stop and pick it out at a store before coming back with the money? Did he already have it? He was going to give Teresa some of the money, he didn’t also have to include a game. But that shows that he was thinking of Tony and how to help a kid who’s lost both his parents. The game is a small thing but it makes Tony happy and that’s so sweet and important.

Somehow people only remember Joseph as the “bi” character despite the fact that Craig Cahn and Mat Sella both had wives before, whom they had fathered their children with.

Mat especially talks about his wife and how she played an important role in his life, and that he clearly loved her very much. It’s an important part of his characterisation and route.

Craig seemed to have dated Smashley for a long time, and while he’d divorced from her it seemed like he still respects her a lot.

Not that it makes Joseph’s obvious “cheating bisexual” trope better, but I’m super annoyed that people seem to forget that two people who are strongly implied to be bi also exist in this game, and the fact that they also happen to be men of color makes it especially suspect.

I drink and I hate-watch Game of Thrones.
—  And then I go on long-winded rants about how none of the characterizations make sense, the plots are poorly constructed, and what the fuck is this dialogue? I mean really. It’s fucked. Everything is fucked. Read the books.

Things that Momochi never did in Berryz

lloeppky  asked:

Prompt idea: "did we lose Bodhi again?" Of course with RebelCaptain asking :)

“Inevitably,” Jyn sighed, glancing around the market place in the hopes of finding their misplaced pilot. Of all the survival skills Jyn had learned over the years – stealth and agility, theft and bribery – Bodhi was teaching her the usefulness of simply observing the planet around them. Multiple times now, Bodhi had presented Jyn and Cassian with the missing piece of the puzzle, so to say, to complete their objective: once, he knew to follow the local spice delivery an Imperial big shot would be waiting for in order to locate him; another time, he recognized the dangers of an approaching garrison, not from the sound Jyn and Cassian would have been listening for, but by the absence of wildlife within the rainforest they were crossing.

Today, Jyn caught sight of his ponytail next to a stand packed with colorful woven cloths.

“I-I remember one like this,” he said as she wandered over to him, his words turning up at odd angles as if he didn’t quite believe what he was saying, “in my mother’s house.”

And there was another difference about Bodhi: where Jyn and Cassian had spent their adult lives running away from their childhood memories – there was too much pain, too too many broken ideas that had never properly healed – Bodhi fought to remember where he came from and the person he was before Bor Gullet rearranged his brain with a dedication Jyn had come to admire over the years.

“It’s beautiful,” Jyn told him, running her hand over the bright reds and oranges dancing through the fabric. “If it reminds you of Jedha, then you should get it, Bodhi. Bring it with us, back to base.”

His eyes lit up at the idea, an expression too rarely seen on his face, so that Cassian didn’t even question when they returned to him, the colorful material folded Jyn’s bag.

When can I stop thinking about Jumin Han? ….Probably never

I thought this might amuse you: I saw that prompt about Beverly and her sister Rom and, not being in the ROL fandom, my first thought was "That's a hell of a Star Trek AU!"

It does amuse me greatly, because I know just enough about Star Trek that my brain immediately goes “how DOES our Star Trek AU on the USS London work?” And what I’ve come up with so far is that Peter is the captain (if anyone wants to fight me on this they can fight me) but he started out on the science track and is still the most interested in the ‘seeking out’ bits of the mission, Nightingale is the XO and does a lot of the piloting (like I said: FIGHT ME), Beverley is the Science Officer, Guleed is Communications, Lesley is Security, Molly is Engineering (nobody knows exactly what species she is and nobody is brave enough to ask) and Jaget works with her, Walid is Medical (and Dr Vaughan is his second), Abigail is the obligatory are-you-really-old-enough-for-this ensign, and Seawoll, Stephanopoulos, and Tyburn are all frequently exasperated admirals and/or planetary leaders. Some portion of the crew are non-human but IDK which species except that Peter is half-Vulcan, Nightingale, Lesley, and Beverley are human, and Walid and Molly aren’t.

As in canon, and consistent at least with the modern movies, things blow up around Peter a lot even though it is totally not his fault. The general conclusion of the crew is that either a) Peter is going to end up running Starfleet OR b) they will all fall into a black hole and die because he really wanted to get scientific data from it.

Someone still has a bet on him ascending to a higher plane of existence.

One day in the future you may leave platform 9 and 3 quarters for the last time, you might climb out of the rabbit hole, you might shut the door to 221B baker street, you might throw the sheet back over the wardrobe, you might leave Camelot, you might stumble out of a blue police box for the last time, you might finally defeat the demons, stubborn angels and drive off in the impala.

But you will remember the days leading up to the end. The adventures, the love, the happiness, the sadness, the pain. For these fictional places and characters are never quite going to go away. Because the ones that love us, never really leave us.
