character development is the best

I hope the fandom can calm down a bit. I'm pretty sure with all the starco developement throughout the season, the devs know what they're doing. They wont just kill starco like that. I mean we havent seen jackie since bon bon! Give her a bit chance. We have two episodes to go

Yeah, things are going to change big time for sure, with the next two episodes, and anyway, as painful as it might be, the show is still being true to itself and its characters: they didn’t forget about Jackie, about how important she is to Marco, about how important Star is to Marco, they developed Star’s feelings without her being a jealous mess as she was in Bon Bon… I know that uncertainity is painful, but it’s better to have a ship tomorrow, than a badly written show today.

tl;dr - I feel your pain, fellow Starco trash, but as usual, the episodes choose the best way to develop the characters and the story, even when it’s painful. Let’s wait, see, and trust the writers.

i don’t even know how these kinda things but guessing from my url, i’m stevie !! i miss writing and developing my characters so i guess making a 1x1 account was the best thing to do. if y’all need another 1x1, hit a girl up. i don’t know what to say but ig i’ll play anyone so far ?? apart from a couple of fcs,, but u kno, that’s all. this is bad i know but i promise i’m Fun and all that !!

Beauty and the Beast 30-day challenge: Day 11

Time for question eleven.

11. Where does the movie rate on your list of best classic Disney movies?

I think it’s one of Disney’s best (most aesthetically pleasing, best pacing, most developed characters, most thematically powerful, most memorable songs). It easily tops my favorite list, though Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, and Emperor’s New Groove are also high on my list–but they’re all good movies for such different reasons. BatB, though, is the most consistently good. I’m not really surprised that this was the movie that got people to look at animation more seriously as a genre that could have adult appeal.

I also think it’s interesting that it’s one of Disney’s few true musicals. By which I mean, the songs are not just kinda incidental and there for fun, they’re integral to our understanding of the story and characters, and if you took them out, the movie wouldn’t make sense. (Even “Be Our Guest,” which I’d argue is technically the least necessary of the songs, still serves a purpose in the plot beyond just spectacle–it gives Belle a reason to start feeling a little more comfortable at the castle and trust the staff, because they clearly like her and want her to feel at home.)

Okay honestly one of my favorite things about Ouran is Kyoya’s character development???

He’s one of the most static characters; he’s calm, cool, collected, intelligent, and the obvious moral compass of the group,

But as the season goes on you start to notice a few cracks…like, the kind where you see the real Kyoya poking through, begging for someone to let him out???

As you learn his backstory you realize that while he’s the mother of the group, he’s actually the child of his family, which makes SO MUCH SENSE,

And I feel like that somehow corresponds with everything he does within the club, and why he’s so meticulous about everything, because maybe in his subconscious somewhere he thought to himself,

"If my father were to ever catch me in this club, at least I would have something to show for it,“ which is why he’s so undeniably efficient with all that he controls.

And the way he feels about Tamaki is absolutely PRECIOUS to see, because at first you feel like he thinks of Tamaki as a genuine moron, (which is how I felt really, I can’t really speak for everyone,) and then you get to the, “And so Kyoya Met Him!” episode.

Which is when you finally get to see how exactly their friendship began in the first place, the history behind our daddy and mommy of the Host Club. And you realize, “Hey, I wasn’t that far off. Kyoya DID think he was a moron, at one point.”

And while Kyoya still thinks Tamaki is an idiot, it’s more of a term of endearment at this point, rather than an insult. Because as weary as he is of Tamaki’s antics, when he thought he was gonna lose him, Kyoya absolutely lost it.

And that was A FREAKING PLEASURE to see because you realize NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES KYOYA CALLS HIM AN IDIOT, OR MORON, OR REFERS TO HIM AS A BURDEN, you know in your heart that that silly blonde prince means the world to Kyoya, and that is in fact his best friend.

So throughout the season, obviously each character makes their own significant steps to becoming more individual, coming into themselves, but Kyoya’s developement is definitely one of my favorites.

Mirror, mirror…I think I might change it all…

Weiss ain’t taking shit from nobody this volume and I. Love. It.

(I’m planning on doing one for all of the girls (gonna make a badass wallpaper for my dual monitor setup)…let’s see if I manage not to snowflake out this time…)

This man went from a “dime-a-dozen skater” (he is the top Japanese skater) that choked the previous year and getting last place, to beating his idol/fiance’s world record and winning the silver medal in the Grand Prix Final. Don’t tell me Yuri Katsuki didn’t have the ultimate development. Character and Skating wise. YURI KATSUKI HAD THE BEST DEVELOPMENT I’VE EVER SEEN.

one thing that bugs me on jtv? the complete lack of acknowledgement of what petra’s been through. petra is an abuse survivor. the one constant presence in her life is a mother who amongst other things has threatened her, belittled her, constantly gaslights her, all for her own selfish gains. struggles through post-partum depression. discovers she has a twin- who could have become the family petra so desperately needs who drugs her, assumes her identity and tries to screw her over. watches her husband who she really does love fall in love with another woman whilst said woman is carrying the child she wanted so much. not to mention being kidnapped, suffering a late term miscarriage and feeling inferior to jane. and like? there is barely any mention of petra’s past. the only thing they bring up are her mistakes- which yes are a lot, and yes she has done some terrible things, but geez. please let petra go to therapy!!!!! please let petra be happy!!!!!!

Sometimes I think about how much Rhett and Link have changed and grown in their relationship over the past few years, like this is IRL character development and it’s like reading the best kind of slow-burn except it’s all actually happening.

I mean, they went from literally recoiling from each others’ touch and refusing to even give each other compliments, to putting on costumes like this

and giving interviews where they say stuff like this

and coming up with show ideas that literally force them into each others’ personal space in increasingly intimate ways

(need I remind you that not a single one of the wheel endings above required physical contact in ANY WAY? They took it there all on their own.)

It’s so beautiful, even with all shipping and tinhatting aside, that their friendship has reached a point where they no longer have to cry NO HOMO every time they accidentally brush their arms together, because they’re comfortable with their relationship and how they feel about each other. Male friendships are normal, and can be affectionate and loving and even physically demonstrative. It’s been wonderful watching them embrace that.

I have so many emotions about this. I am a broken shell of a person because of these two ridiculous manchildren. If they stay the course, I will surely perish before the year is out.

A moment of appreciation for how Trixie openly spoke about her AA meetings to Tom, who was the first person she hid her alcoholism from.

A moment of appreciation for how she acknowledged that her AA meetings have made her a better person and how she’s no longer ashamed to talk about her alcoholism.

A moment of appreciation for how much Trixie has grown from a scared young girl into a strong and confident woman.
