Reaching down, I grabbed my purse off the table. As I looked around the room, the only people left were staff, busy cleaning up the mess from earlier. Once I had all my things, Jared wrapped his arm around my shoulders and we casually walked together down the hall and back towards his dressing room.
“We have about a half hour until stage so I need to get my voice warmed up.” He said.
This would be my first real experience step by step watching him get ready for a show. It’s simply amazing the things that are all happening at the same time. It’s madness.
“Okay, where do you want me to go?” I asked.
I thought, worst case, if I couldn’t stay with him, maybe I’d just tag along with Emma. I knew Robert was around here too. And, if THAT didn’t work out either, then I’d find a little spot out of everyone’s way, to watch the show. Both of my previous times seeing them play, I had the girls with me and we all know how that turned out. I was totally excited to see the show on my own with no distractions.
“You’ll stay with me, baby.” He said, kissing my temple, “Then you can watch the show from Shan’s side.”
“Okay, sound good.” I said hugging him with my arm around his waist.
As we walked down the hall, Jared pulled me close again, then turned his nose to my shoulder.
Sniffing he said, “Mmmm, baby girl, you smell good.”
My mouth dropped open, the nerve of this man, seriously! I knew he was just teasing but still. I was self-conscious enough.
“You are unbelievable.” I said shaking my head.
Jared, of course, just laughed and as we stopped at his dressing room door, he kissed my cheek and tickled my side as he opened the door.
“I’m only kidding…” He said with a smirk.
“Not funny, Leto.” I responded.
Walking straight into the bathroom to freshen up, especially after that comment, I didn’t even give him a chance to tell me otherwise. Not that I thought he would anyway. At the moment, I think he was done proving his point. It was more of a joke now than anything else.
Except to the one who smelled like cum.
As I was in the bathroom, I heard him begin to warm up his voice. I washed my hands and fixed my make-up. With a tiny spritz of perfume, I felt a lot better.
Walking back into the room and looking around, Jared was sitting at a table towards the back of the room with a set of headphones on doing his voice warm-ups. The main door was propped open and people were coming and going non-stop. Even Shannon was sitting on the couch eating in here instead of his own dressing room.
It STILL felt surreal being here. Maybe it always would.
“Hey Shannon!” I said walking towards him.
As I approached, he smiled and stood up, wrapping me in one of his trademark bear hugs. Remembering his scheming with Jared to help distract the girls while we ‘talked’ and the fact that he knew we spent the week together in Chicago, I figured he probably knew everything anyway so I didn’t feel the need to hide. That was a good feeling and the group I felt comfortable with was slowly growing.
“Vivie…. How are ya, sweetheart?” Shannon asked.
“Very good, thanks..” I said smiling. “It good to see you!”
Jared was still busy warming up so I took the opportunity to sit and chat with Shannon a bit. He sat back down to finish eating so I sat next to him, kicking off my heels then kneeling to sit on my bent leg.
“You too. I heard you’re going to get a taste of the tour life..” He said.
“Yep! Jared invited me to tour with you guys for a few days..” I said.
“That’s good! I’m glad you could rearrange your schedule. I know Jared was happy.” He said.
“Me too.” I said blushing.
I know Shannon saw it and decided to change the subject.
“I gotta ask…how’s my little Lily?” He asked with a chuckle.
“Oh that crazy kid, she’s fine… She wanted me to tell you that she’s going to sleep with your drumsticks the rest of her life.” I laughed.
“Aww, that’s sweet.” He said.
Pulling out my phone, I showed him the picture she had sent me of her curled up in bed with them.
“She is completely enamored with you.” I told him, “She still talks about you letting her sit next to you during the show..”
For the next twenty or so minutes we sat there chatting about an array of different things. I talked a bit about Africa, he talked about the tour. About where we were headed.
Out of the corner of my eye, every once in awhile I caught Jared watching us talk and smiling as we interacted. He seemed happy Shannon and I got along.
As always, it was comfortable talking to Shannon. He just has a very relaxed way about him. We were past the ‘getting to know you’ questions, partially I think, because we spent time around each other back in Chicago and got that out of the way then.
Not to mention all of whatever Jared shared with him about me in the last three weeks since then, which honestly seemed like a lot. Certainly more than I thought he would.
Shannon definitely seemed to know just about everything about me based on some of the questions and comments he made. Not that I was complaining. I actually thought it was sweet and made me feel even more secure Jared opened up to him so much about me.
“Well, I should be heading back to my room to change. It was nice talkin’ to ya, Vivie.” Shannon said as he stood up and walked to the door. “See ya in a few, bro”
“You too, Shannon.” I said with a smile and waved as he walked out the door.
“Later.” Jared said, waving back as Shannon shut the door behind him.
Jared seemed like he was done warming up but now was busy on his phone so I didn’t want to bother him. Deciding to stay where I was, I quietly started scrolling through Facebook when I heard him call my name.
“Vivie, come here.” Jared said.
He was still sitting in a chair near a table on the other side of the room. It was unusual for him to call me by my name, especially when we were alone, unless I was in trouble. I silently started to worry that I had inadvertently said something wrong.
Getting up off the couch and walking over to him, he offered his hand for me to take. Intertwining our fingers, he pulled me down to sit on his lap. With my knees on either side of his hips, I sat on his thighs, slipping my arms around his shoulders as his hands bracketed my hips to pull my body closer to his.
“Seems like you and Shan were getting along well.” Jared said.
“I think so.” I said nodding my head, “He seems like a pretty easy guy to get along with.”
“Shannon likes you very much, ya know.” Jared said almost proudly.
“Aww, I like him too.” I said pulling back slightly as I cupped Jared’s cheek in my palm.
Jared was quietly watching me as I caressed his soft, bearded cheek. I missed these quiet moments. Moments where words weren’t necessary. It was one of the things I loved about being with him.
Looking deeply into each other’s eyes, his mouth parted, almost as if he was going to say something. He didn’t though. In a split second, I could see him push whatever it was back. Instead, his arms tightened around my waist as his hands rubbed my back.
Something in me wanted to comfort him, he looked suddenly so tired. Maybe overwhelmed. It was hard to describe. Weaving my fingers into his hair, I gently pulled his face to mine as I placed a soft kiss on his parted lips.
“You suddenly looks so tired, babe.” I softly said, surprising myself as the word 'babe’ slipped from my lips.
It felt natural to say it. To call him that. But I hadn’t ever done that before. It was always either Jared or Sir.
With a slight smile, he said, “You’ve never called me babe before.”
Suddenly feeling a little embarrassed, I thought maybe that was taking things a bit too far…
“I know, it kinda slipped out. It’s just that it seems natural to call you that.” I said shyly, trying to wiggle myself off his lap.
He didn’t allow that though. He held me tighter in his arms instead.
“Stop squirming.” He sternly said.
When I finally stopped he tilted my chin up so our eyes could connect, “I like you calling me that.” He said, kissing my lips then pulling back.
I smiled tenderly then closing my eyes as he softly kissed me again. I was so happy to be in his embrace and feeling his lips kiss mine again. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else in the world.
With each passing minute I could feel his possessiveness take over as his hand cupped the back of my neck, holding me against him. Parting my lips more, his tongue delved deeper, we were at a place where we couldn’t get close enough.
Breathlessly, he asked against my lips, “Who do you belong to?”
Resting my forehead against his, I opened my brown eyes and looked deeply into his blue ones, “You, Sir. I belong only to you.”
Our quiet moment was quickly shattered as the dressing room door loudly swung open.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” A very shocked Emma said, “I didn’t mean to interrupt…”
Emma quickly turned her back to us and tried to cover her eyes. Neither of us realized that the door was unlocked. I was just as embarrassed as she was. Jared, not so much.
Hey guys! Here is part two of the first section of Organic Chemistry. Since these are very important but very hard to memorize, I’ve decided to try out something new - by creating a challenge!
Write these things over and over again until you know all of them without looking - then take a photo and tag it #orgchemchallenge! The first 20 people to do so will get a drawing from me, based on your URL + a promotion on this blog! I’ll keep an eye on the tag ;)
True to his word, Robert kept himself quite useful while going from room to room in Tower House, collecting dirty glasses and plates and shuttling them down to the ground floor kitchen where Ari kept the dishwasher running. The pair made quick work of cleanup, finishing the bulk of their work a little after 1:30 in the morning. Exhausted but not yet mentally ready for sleep, Ari brewed a fresh pot of coffee in appreciation for Robert’s assistance and put together some leftover party food for them to share.
She poured two mugs full of coffee, sitting one in front of Robert who had settled down on one of the bench seats at the long wooden kitchen table. With a loud audible sigh, Ari unceremoniously collapsed into the bench opposite Robert. “I’m fucking exhausted,” she complained, “and I’d probably be passed out on the floor right now if it wasn’t for you, so thanks, I really owe you one.”
Robert smiled, feeling his own level of tiredness steadily seeping into his bones. “Like I said earlier, at your service, m’lady. Wasn’t a problem at all,” he explained, sipping his coffee. “Are you headed back to your flat?”

“Stop that shit,” I whined as Tess kept poking my face. She was tryna grab my attention. After sex we went back to her room and just hung out a bit before we fell asleep– it was basically a nap cause it was now 3 in the morning and Tess was sitting up on my abdomen, poking me. I ain’t gon lie the sex got my mind off what had happened at the studio but now my mind was buzzing and I kept thinking about it– how could one of my best friends do me like that? That’s what was fucked up about the whole situation– that it was shady as fuck. I’ont know why he couldn’t just be honest about it in the first place– man, fuck that nigga.
“What’s up with you?” T pouted at me, she could always tell when something was up just by my entire demeanor.
”Nothing,” I lied, “you just woke me up.” ”My bad then,” she mumbled as she rolled off me and got back on the other side of the bed.
We laid like that in silence for a while before I got up and threw on my sweatpants and a hoodie.
“What are you doing– Where are you going?” Tess sat up and looked at me confused.
“I–I’ma head out for a walk real quick I needa think,” I told her and she just rolled over and pulled the comforter over her. I felt hot and heated and I had to think and re-group, shit I felt like I needed a cigarette and I didn’t even fuck with that kinda shit.
Tess It’d been four days since Jermaine walked out in the middle of the night– he ain’t called or texted or nothing, but he said he needed his space so I was gonna let him have it. It pissed me off though that after all this time, he still couldn’t just let me know what was going on with him. I know he was a really closed off person and when something bothered him he’d keep it to himself because he’d developed a lot of trust issues growing up, but honestly, that stung me that he didn’t even love or trust me enough to tell me what was going on or how he was feeling– that wasn’t fair. That wasn’t what a relationship was about at all.
I piked my tote higher up on my shoulder, walking through campus looking for Aleisha, we were gonna head out and grab lunch together as we finished around the same time.
“Tess?” I heard my name being called and turned around to see Kevin headed towards my direction. I shook my head and continued walking– after what I’d found out about him I had no business whatsoever talking to him. Instead of losing him though, he jogged up to catch up with me and before I knew it we were stood face to face.
“Hey,” he said as he sighed, “haven’t seen you around in a minute,”
I folded my arms over my chest and looked at him boredly, “I don’t really have anything to say to you.”
“Girl, whatchu mean?” He smirked, looking down at me amused, “I came over here to ask you when we were gonna grab a bite to eat–”
“Naw,” I shook my head, “that’s not about to happen,”
“Because you have a boyfriend or–?”
“Uh because happened to not tell me the fact that you’re a fucking drug dealer, how about that??” I snapped at him.
He grabbed me my by arm and pulled me around the corner where it was less busy. I’m pretty sure someone had heard me as we were in the middle of the hallway– I didn’t even care.
”Shh!” he hissed at me,“I’m sorry that’s not the first thing I tell someone when we start hanging out–”
“Yeah whatever, Kevin, I’m not trying to fuck with that–”
“I’m only doing it so I can make some extra money on the side, till I graduate,” he explained to me. I don’t know why he was explaining himself to me, he didn’t owe me and explanation and I didnt– well, I wasn’t supposed to care.
“I don’t care,” I shrugged, not making any eye contact with him, at this point I couldn’t make eye contact with him because shit the nigga was fine, he did this to me every time I saw him and I didn’t know what to do. “I still don’t think we should hang out.” I cleared my throat.
“Because of the drugs?” he asked me nerve wreckingly quietly before narrowing his eyes at me, “Or because your boyfriend said so?”
I remained quiet and just looked up at him briefly.
“I’ll say it’s your nigga,” he nodded with a soft chuckle, “I don’t even know why you’re dating a guy like Dex when–”
“First off, I’m not dating Dex…” I put my finger up interrupting him, “and secondly, I don’t let anyone tell me who I hang out with or not.” I wasn’t anyone’s bitchboy and I needed Kevin to know that.
“Then let me take you out.” he took a step closer to me, challenging me. Anyone who knew me knew that I was stubborn as hell and could never back down from a challenge. I know Cole didn’t want me to be talking to this guy– but where the fuck was he? He’d gone MIA on me for four days and that pissed the living hell out of me and partially had something to do with the way that I responded to his request.
