Jake and Dinos Chapman (British, b. 1966 & b. 1962)), Like a dog returns to its vomit (no. 28), 2005. Reworked etching from Francisco de Goya’s ‘Los Caprichos’, image: 19 x 12.7 cm.; sheet: 29.2 x 41.9 cm.
I quite like the idea that, actually, instead of trying to increase the number of things which have some sort of artistic merit, we’re actually producing things which don’t really deserve the place they end up in.
I caught the final day of Jake and Dinos Chapman's exhibition at Serpentine Slaker Gallery, aptly named Come and See (after E. Klimov’s classic film)
It was good to see a lot of their recent work brought together, including Shitrospective, which I hadn’t previously seen, and their hilarious film screened in the Kino Klub installation that mocks both art history and their own work with typical dark humour
A selection of images we discussed/potential artists to be discussed in our Personalised Universes territory of practice - the Chapman Brothers, Madge Gill, Mike Kelley, William Blake, Richard Dadd, etc.
