chap 192

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 192

I love this title image!

My New Year’s resolution for 2017: re-read a chapter of Gintama every day starting from the beginning and relive the joy that is Gintama lesson-by-lesson. Hopefully I will never reach the end of the series should Sorachi-sama have a change of heart and never conclude it.

What I Loved in Lesson 192: (just about everything cuz how can I NOT?)

Gintoki’s subtle crotch grab was both a blatant AND surreptitious reminder of why the hunt was on.

At least Okita was willing to order food for Zura, which I thought was quite nice of him.

Hijikata and Okita beating on Zura should not have been a laughing matter but I still couldn’t help giggling.

At least she’s more human and attractive than Princess Bubbles.

Why did they have to become a driving service? Was Gin-chan too depressed to continue on as the Yorozuya? But why? There’s probably a pun-related joke in there but being completely dependent on English translations, the joke was lost on me.

Shinpachi’s tools joke gave me a chuckle even if it was an easy one.

And then my question was, why didn’t they STAY as a delivery service? I know, I know, cuz then they wouldn’t technically be the Yorozuya but my sense of logic just refused to stay in hiding.

Poor Hijikata and Okita really got a huge demotion in their careers after becoming tools.

Sad sack Gin-chan was cute, but fierce, determined Gintoki is even better.

Adorable teamwork.

An appropriately wtf ending to a perfectly goofy and awesome arc: I think Gintoki got blown up after this and of course none of the guys got their bodies back…until they magically did the next time we see them.

Ships Tally:

GinHiji: they were TOTALLY shamelessly flirting.

OkiZura: I think this is the first time they had a truly shippable moment…I mean, Okita ordered food for him and then FED him. How cute was that?

GinSa: poor Sacchan, she loves Gin-chan no matter what state his what-what is in, but all she got was a truck to her backside for her unconditional devotion.

KonPhillips: Kondou probably got farther with her than he ever did with anyone else.

KonZura: I mean, their similar names, their teamwork, it was like they were two sides of the same coin…how can I not count them?

Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just so freaking amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s generosity that I can enjoy Gintama on yet another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.
