But let there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of the heavens dance between you…Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone. Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping…and stand together, yet not too near together: for the pillars of the temple stand apart, and the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow. Maybe chance is a pretty common thing after all. Those kinds of coincidences are happening all around us, all the time, but most of them don’t catch our attention and we just let them go by. It’s like fireworks in the daytime. You might hear a faint sound, but even if you look up at the sky you can’t see a thing. But if we’re really hoping something may come true, it may become visible, like a message rising to the surface. Then we’re able to make it out clearly, decipher what it means. And seeing it before us we’re surprised and wonder at how strange things like this can happen. Even though there’s nothing strange about it.

This is the only life advice I will ever give:
Have no regrets. If you are scared of going to the gym because you think other people will judge you; go anyway, because I was that person too and trust me when I say this; no one is looking at you and if they are it’s only because they admire your strength to make the effort to change. If you are scared of bungee jumping, do it anyway, maybe it will feel like shit, maybe you will love it, but what matters most is that you did it, you don’t have any regrets. Want to skip class on thursday because you are drained and need some time off? do it, self care is important. Want to skip a class because you aren’t getting anything anyway and it totally doesn’t feel worth it? Don’t do it; study without fear, the power of knowledge is infinite; whether it’s 9th grade spanish grammar or AP calculus: make the effort to do it. It will pay off. Go for walks, bake some brownies, drink some tea/coffee, watch a foreign movie with/without subtitles because even if it was a shitty walk or a burnt brownie or a horrible drink or the worst movie ever made; hey, at least you had an experience. Everyday doesn’t have to be a good day and I can’t promise that you will be happy everyday, but a shit day isn’t a shit life and you will be satisfied.
Dream without fear, breathe without fear, love without fear and live without fear. Have no regrets, not just this month, not just this summer, not just this year but this whole life; have no regrets.

Back in the UK now but this is one of my favourite photographs from the whole trip. Also the best day of the whole trip messing around and having a good time on the speedboat. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again.. If you ever get the chance, travel as much of the world as possible and experience new things.

On a scale of one to ten, how lucky are you in life? Oh wow, I’m very, very lucky to do what I do. In fact I’m going to get a chance to travel to Malaysia soon for work. Everyday, I make a gratitude list of 10 things that I’m grateful for. (I’m incredulous so I reconfirm that anecdote) Yes, I do! I really think I’m really lucky. I’m so grateful for my family, my mom, my stepdad, they all made it possible for me to come here. Plus the the opportunities I’ve had, for my friends, for the fact that I’m living in New York, in my own apartment in the city. I’m also grateful to have people that believe in me the way they do; my manager has been with me 17 years, my agent for 15 years. It’s also a friendly reminder that life is has got to keep going, you should never feel like you’ve arrived. You gotta stay hungry. It’s all over for you the moment you don’t. And in my job, it’s also about exploring yourself. Films are an incredible medium where you get to talk to people. I have these great fans, they write me everyday, telling me about their lives getting better from watching my movies. To me that’s more important than anything else. And as a man in the world, you have to leave something behind, if not what the hell am I doing while I’m here?

It’s highly unlikely there will be any ghibli film worlds in kingdom hearts 3 but one can dream, right?

It seems unforgivable not to include Doctor Who’s Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) on the list so near the 10th anniversary of her introduction as a character. For many, Rose was their first Doctor Who companion, but – regardless of when you jumped on the Doctor Who bandwagon – her importance in the Whovian universe is hard to deny.

In many ways, Rose was the protagonist of the first two seasons of new Who. Her character was more than just the audience proxy; this was her story arguably more so than The Doctor’s. This became less true as new Who went on, but who knows what would have happened to Doctor Who’s revival if Rose wasn’t so compelling. A working class young woman fed up with the limitations of her life as a shop girl, Rose jumped at the chance to travel aboard the T.A.R.D.I.S.

Though it is tempting for some to conflate Rose’s identity into her relationship with The Tenth Doctor, Rose was so much more than that. She was an empathetic adventurer. She was fiercely loyal to everyone she loved, even when she wasn’t being particularly nice to them (sorry, Mickey). And she was the gateway character for so many new fans into the world of Doctor Who.
