Working almost like an energetic filter, Jet is a wonderfully grounding stone that has intense purification and protection properties. Jet is known for clearing the aura of impure energies. Some say that Jet can be used to cleanse other crystals by placing them in a bowl with several smaller pieces of Jet. Jet can be helpful for those experiencing an overabundance of negative energies or emotions. Not only does it draw off negative vibrations, but Jet can also help the victim of these vibes to understand their original purpose and the lesson to be learned. Spiritual Hygiene Guide

Visualization directs personal power.

Using visualization to start your day can be useful for anyone, empath or not. Empaths usually have some difficulty navigating how to help others without feeling drained or vulnerable. Here are some exercises that employ really basic visualizations you can add your own artistic flair to. They serve to help protect and reserve energy for the Self.

Charging Your Battery:

This can be done through meditation.

1. Sit and place your tongue on the roof of your mouth with your mouth slightly opening

2. Breath in through your nose and out through your nose

3. Try to breath 4 seconds in and 6 seconds out (this lowers your heart rate naturally)

4. Focus on filling the space below your navel and above your pelvis with air and a “golden light”that you can return to throughout the day as your energy reservoir. In Qigong this area is referred to as your lower Dan Tien.


After you have filled your reservoir for the day, “charged” your spiritual battery, it is nice to add an additional layer of protection.

1. Continue breathing in and out through your nose slowly

2. Imagine that with every out breath you are contributing to a bubble forming around your body that expands outwards building a shell around your electromagnetic field

3. Be creative – this shell can be any color, opaque or translucent. I decorate mine with Renoir paintings, dried flowers, opals, and arrowheads. Make it your own haven.

4. Say a mantra out loud to yourself to state your needs as far as protection is concerned. For example “ Let all the negative energy fall to the ground, and only let love and light enter and exit through this shield.”

The Chakras.

Chakras are Energy Vortices, or intersections where two or more Nadis meet. Nadis are located in the Astral Body and carry the Prana. Generally they correspond with the nerves of the Physical Body. There are three main Nadis that correspond with the spine and which concern us in the practices of Kundalini and Hatha Yoga. These are the: Ida, Pingala and Sushumna.

Everyplace the 72,000 Nadis of the Astral Body intersect, there is a Chakra. There are an uncounted number of Chakras in the body.The Chakras are the mechanisms by which the Prana is able to permeate the Physical Body from the Astral Body, and basically then, it is the Prana that keeps the Physical Body alive. Purification of Nadis is critical to good health so that a balanced level of Prana can flow throughout the Nadis and Chakra systems. Impure Nadis cause blockages of the Prana and this is what leads to disease in the Physical Body. Within the Astral Body are 7 main Chakras associated with Kundalini Awakening. They are located within the Astral Body in locations that correspond with the spine in the Physical Body, and at the junctions where the Ida and Pingala, and various other Nadis, meet.

While these main Chakras actually exist in the Astral Body corresponding to locations within the spine, it is hard to visualize and work with them in these locations. Therefore, we usually reference locations in the front of the body at the levels described above, and these locations have a direct effect on the actual Chakra location within the spine. Each Chakra also has associated with it a corresponding number of Nadis, a color, a presiding deity and goddess, Sanskrit letters, a Bija or Seed Mantra, and a presiding element or Tanmatra. The six Chakras are way-stations along the Sushumna, to the final destination, the Sahasrara Chakra. They are of Consciousness, with specific tones of Awareness and bliss, as well as storage places for the subtle, vital Energy. They have corresponding centers in the spinal cord and nerve plexuses of the gross Physical Body, with which they are closely related.
