If You Were Confused...

Anakin Skywalker:

-Raised as a slave by Shmi Skywalker (wonderful, worried woman that tried to instill good values into Anakin Skywalker).

-Raised by  Obi Wan Kenobi (wonderful, imperfect man that tried to instill good values into Anakin Skywalker).

-Influenced by Palpatine (wicked man who outright lied and manipulated Anakin Skywalker).

-Married Padme Amidala (wonderful, forgiving woman who made really bad life choices).

-Surrounded by Jedi Council (wonderful but stupid men that often made Anakin Skywalker feel like an outcast).

Ben Solo:

-Raised by the politician Leia Organa (wonderful, BUSY woman that tried to instill good values into Ben Solo).

-Raised by ex-smuggler Han Solo (wonderful, absent man that tried to instill good values into Ben Solo).

-Trained by Luke Skywalker (wonderful, imperfect man that tried to instill good values into Ben Solo).

-Influenced by Snoke (wicked creature who outright lied and manipulated Ben Solo).

-Intrigued by Rey (wonderful, forgiving woman that distracted him from his original mission which was to steal BB8).

-Surrounded by politicians (some were probably wonderful, but let’s face it, most were probably corrupt and squabbling idiots because politics).

One Last Thing:

THEY BOTH SHOWED FEELINGS OF CONFLICT AND WERE TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING ACCORDING TO THEIR PERSPECTIVE WHICH WAS CONSTANTLY BEING MANIPULATED.  EVENTUALLY REALIZED THEY MADE A MISTAKE!  Don’t argue with me, Adam Driver literally said Kylo Ren realizes he made a mistake killing Han Solo.  The novel shows us he was shocked by his own actions.  (Only difference is Kylo Ren is having his doubts much earlier than Darth Vader who ALMOST killed his son before he turned on his master.  Kylo Ren hasn’t done as many horrifying things as his grandfather).

Their stories are being INTENTIONALLY PARALLELED.

Don’t you dare feel sorry for Anakin Skywalker and then tell me I’m wrong for pitying Ben Solo and wanting to see him redeemed.

Sand people, on the other hand…he definitely goes out of his way to kill them and as awful as it is I can’t say that I don’t understand it

When I said he wouldn’t go out of his way to kill children I meant he wouldn’t do it without any motivation. Revenge is a big motivator for Vader. That’s what drove to hunt down Obi-Wan for years. But, tbh, I don’t think he considered the sand people’s children as “children”. I think even before he became Vader, Anakin had fully dehumanized them. They didn’t matter the way the rest of the galaxy did. During the clone wars he showed compassion towards every being in peril he met, but I can’t think of a single moment of him regretting killing their children.

Which makes me wonder, if the Jedi had sent him back to tatooine to rescue the child of the Sand People (instead of Jabba’s son), what would he have done?

  • Admiral Piett: My lord, I'm afraid the asteroids will not allow us to follow the Millennium Falcon.
  • Darth Vader: I’m sorry, Admiral Piett, but I do not know much about the asteroids. Can you explain something to me?
  • Admiral Piett: Of course, my lord.
  • Darth Vader: Do the asteroids command this ship?
  • Admiral Piett: Um, I'm afraid I don't understand.
  • Darth Vader: You said the asteroids would not allow us to follow. Do the asteroids command this ship?
  • Admiral Piett: No, my lord.
  • Darth Vader: And if I were to have you thrown out into the cold vacuum of space, would the asteroids think twice about smashing into you?
  • Admiral Piett: No, my lord.
  • Darth Vader: Well, then, maybe you should worry less about the asteroids who’ve already made up their mind about killing you, and worry more about me, who’s still mulling it over.
