Portrait de Madame Augustine Bertin de Vaux (exh.1809). Anne-Louis Girodet de Roussy-Trioson (French, 1767-1824). Oil on canvas.

Girodet exhibited this portrait in 1809 Salon, along with six other female portraits and that of Chateaubriand. Madame Augustine holds a book in her hand, her place marked with her finger. This evokes the social role of cultured women at the Restoration.
