BTS V (real name: Kim Taehyung) has provided a few words after concluding his first acting role in the Monday-Tuesday KBS 2TV drama “Hwarang.”

On February 15th, Kim Taehyung spoke through his company BigHit Entertainment to comment that ‘“Hwarang” was a very enlightening yet unforgettable and wonderful experience for me. For me to laugh and cry with my character Hansung, and also live as Hansung made me very happy. I hope that Hansung’s sincerity was also able to reach the audience as well.”

He continued to say: “As it was my first attempt at acting, I felt very burdened and worried a lot. I’d like to thank Park Seo Jun, Park Hyung Shik, Choi Minho, Do Ji Han, Jo Yoon Yoo, Kim Hyun Joon, Sung Dong-Il, the director, the writer, and the site staff for teaching me a lot and helping me so that we could finish the filming happily. I’m very thankful.”

To finish, Kim Taehyung said he’d like to sincerely thank everyone who cheered on and loved Hansung. He asked that they remember his character for a long time and to give a lot of love to “Hwarang” until the end.

Giving the enthusiastic performance needed to portray a young man who was bearing the weight of having to revive his family, Kim Taehyung successfully concluded his first attempt at acting.

[Seo Byung Gi’s Pop Culture Review] Meanwhile, Just Like a Marvel Movie… BTS is Flying

BTS’ Sky Dome concert was, in one word, enormous. Going from AX Hall in 2014 to Gocheok Dome in 2017, BTS’ concert have risen to a global scale and level.

BTS (Rap Monster, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook) began their world tour for their “2017 BTS LIVE TRILOGY EPISODE III in Seoul” on February 18th-19th at the Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome. They will continue by holding 19 concerts in 11 cities for a total of 8 countries: Chile, Brazil, USA, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Australia.

BTS is the 4th singing group to perform in Gocheok Dome following EXO, PSY, and Big Bang. With their recent 2 concerts, BTS had 40,000 people in attendance.

Many reporters flock to artists’ concerts and fan meetings for content. However, it’s not easy for them to sit through a fan meeting. That’s because they’ll be hearing lots of cringeworthy words that are difficult to swallow if you’re not a fan.

On that day, after BTS performed their songs for 2 hours and 40 minutes and with their new song ‘Spring Day’ remaining, they engaged in a long talk with the audience. This was the time with their so-called fan-club named “ARMY”.

On that day, after congratulating J-Hope for celebrating his birthday and as he began to relay his thanks and other words, those words didn’t seem that cringeworthy. The reporters weren’t “ARMY”, but they were able to feel the sincerity that the group was trying to convey. Hearing them say things like, “You guys are the sky and we’re flying in that sky” and “Whenever we read your letters, we think 'So this is the kind of life they’re living’, 'So they have these kinds of sufferings’, and we’re glad that we were able to learn that. From now on, let’s grow our wings and go towards more spring days” made me realize how BTS wanted to communicate.

The concert that day was quite a sight to see. The 5 sequenced videos that were shown between stages were fantastic. While their stage was sophisticated, it also felt like a cyber world from a Marvel film.

The 7 members’ dances were cute, adorable, marvelous, and alluring. They were glowing with health, too.

BTS stages consisted of group tracks, solo tracks, 4-member tracks, and 3-member tracks, but there was still an overall feeling of balance and harmony. A big strength of BTS was that with 7-member idol groups, there’s always a chance for members to be divided into the mains and the subs, yet not of the BTS members were falling behind at all.

They displayed an even bigger strength by being able to command the flow even under such a strong atmosphere. They’re not just being trendy, but watching them run towards their goal and seeing their story of growth unfold makes you want to cheer them now. We want to examine how they overcome their 'Blood, Sweat, and Tears’ from school and the temptations of youth.

Both the beautiful Jungkook (Begin) and his appealing stage and the pink-haired Jimin (Lie) with his blindfolded performance showed that their stages were no easy feats. Suga showed his charms with 'First Love’ through his rebellious yet sorrowful rapping.

Rap Monster’s 'Reflection’, the soul-captivating V’s 'Stigma’, and J-Hope’s 'MAMA'—who projected childhood photos of himself—all showed emotional performances.

In the handsome Jin’s solo track for 'Awake’, a string sound was presented in both the intro and outro. From this performance, you can feel that Jin is good at singing ballads. The lyrics were concretely conveyed.

Regarding reactions that the music video for the new track 'Spring Day’ reminded some of the Sewol tragedy, Rap Monster stated that he’d “leave that up for interpretation to those who watch and admire the video”, also adding that “we have given donations to services that support those affected by the Sewol tragedy and to families of the deceased”.

Although all idol groups grow, I could especially feel BTS’ evolution and identity through their performance that day. They don’t have just intensity. When J-Hope sang 'MAMA’ and when Jin sang 'Awake’, the lyrical and emotional feelings come straight to life.

They effectively combine strength and smoothness, aiming straight forward but also straying, rationality and emotions. That is how they removed the feeling of them being machine-like idols.

All in all, BTS’s strength to push their music along is slowly growing. They are not content with simply directed songs and music videos. They are determined to be a “concept idol” group. Music that internalizes with you and takes the lead, that is the strength they use to push their music and make their storytelling even stronger.

Of the idol group concerts, the performance the BTS showed that day will be one worth remembering.

BTS Comeback D-3, ‘Spring Day’ Teaser… Jungkook’s lonely youth

The group BTS has quickly begun their comeback countdown.

At midnight on February 10th, BTS took to their official homepage and SNS channel to reveal their music video teaser for the title track 'Spring Day’ from 'WINGS Supplemental Story: You Never Walk Alone’.

The teaser video begins with Jungkook standing alone in front of an inactive amusement park ride. While it seems like the members all look lonely amidst alternating scenes showing the sea, inside a train, and a parking garage, they are happy when they’re together.

Accompanied with the words, 'As the cold winter comes to an end, until spring arrives again, until the flowers bloom again, please stay a bit longer, stay a bit longer,’ the title track “Spring Day” mixes with a lyrical melody to leave warm lingering imagery, raising anticipation for the official music video release.

Through online music sources on February 13th at midnight, BTS will present their new album 'You Never Walk Alone’ which is filled with the message of comfort and warm hope for the suffering youth.

A rather lengthy chat about that one 5sos article...

I think, more than anything, the Rolling Stone article is just sad. I feel sad after reading. They’ve picked apart the boys’ lives and found out all the bad things they could, and put them on show as if it makes them punk rock, because that’s what rock stars used to do, they used to sleep with more than one girl a night and they would be depressed and reckless and cocky, and that’s how the boys are being presented here.

I am not, in any way at all, defending any actions of the boys which are negative and derogatory towards women, or anyone else, but I will say this. We know these boys, they share huge chunks of their lives with us, and even if we don’t know anything, we know that they are good people. A lot of the stories in the article are from years ago, the article literally says that they were wildest in their younger years. And I know that age does not excuse actions, but take a moment to think about 4 teenage boys, thrown straight into the spotlight and trying to live up to role models who may not be the best influence.

Michael is depressed, he has mental health issues going on, and that is something that someone needs to do something about. We sit here speculating and trending hashtags, as if that will help, while the only one who seems to care is Ashton. He is literally spending so much time alone, he spent his Christmas watching his band’s DVD, or he’s out partying. He depends so much on the fans, constantly requesting interaction or reaching out talking about his mental health on twitter. I think that he needs help, but doesn’t know how to access it in his position without it appearing as though he’s some sort of classic punk character.

Calum has got so much abuse for so many things that he’s done, little mistakes from years ago, and it’s gotten to the point where he no longer cares about what he does, because no matter what he does, he’ll get backlash. Why do you think he isn’t tweeting as much anymore, why do you think he’s making such drastic changes to himself?

Luke is in a relationship, he appears to be actively moving on from his days that he apparently had where he slept with more than one girl a night. He’s trying to grow up and to have a private relationship which is so hard to do when you’re in the public eye like the boys are. Yet, even his fans are making negative comments about his girlfriend, and about his life choices. He ends up thinking that everything he does it wrong, because the people he thought loved him are hurting him.

Ashton seems to be trying to hold it all together. He, as the oldest member of the band, has taken on the role of guide, and it seems to be taking a toll on him. Ashton has never had a chance to be looked after, he was always the care giver, and he may have finally had that chance when he was in a relationship with a nice girl, but again the fans interfere and make life difficult for them.

Once again, I don’t want to defend any of the negative actions or comments the boys have done or made, but I do want to remind you of their humanness, and of their circumstance. There’s no excuse for being derogatory towards anyone, or treating anyone without respect, but I also think that people make mistakes, and mistakes can be blown up into so much more than they are, particularly those of people who are in the spotlight.

Remember, these are the same boys you loved, and it’s in times like this that they really need their fans’ love and support.
