Decided to put all of my Ed Sheeran Divide feels/vibes/reviews in one post:
1) Eraser is a song that left me openmouthed and a little emotionally confused. The lyrical sharpness was like glass and I felt like I kind of understood why Ed took a year off. It is white noise on edge anger simmering below the surface of a whiskey glass or behind a thin curtain of some other deadly vice that helps to numb the price of fame. It’s saying I’m fine but really rocking backwards and forwards within yourself on the floor in a mess of self doubt and regret and just…It’s raw honesty and pride and pretty lies that are more palatable than the harsh truths he delivers within the guise of a steely F64 stream of consciousness ‘what the hell am I doing’It’s heads in hands and excess and the reality of dreams that were born from records and roadtrips and wondering how on earth you ended up here. It’s a little jaded but it’s also a red flag, the moments in life when your brain is steadily inching towards danger but is perhaps able to prevent itself from falling at the last second. It’s realising that perfection is not attainable and that everyone has scars but it’s also about learning to dance with the skeletons in your closet and beating a path for yourself no matter what.
2) Castle On The Hill sounds like its roots were tended by U2. It’s watching the sun rise from rooftops and rolling down hills. It’s playfights between couples where you laugh so hard you cry. It’s nostalgia and records and country lanes and cars and dancing in the rain. It’s holding hands and walking through villages where you know everyone by name. It’s cups of tea, nicknames and muddy English football matches. It’s board games and Sunday roasts and long kisses, leaning against brick walls. It’s radiant smiles and having a song and banter between friends. It’s falling in love hard and wholly where everything is like a film reel from a 50′s movie. It’s feeling infinite and having mates and loves who are forever.
3) Dive - I’m getting really big Stevie Wonder vibes. It’s bluesy with the hooked teeth of a guitar straight into your heart. It’s ragged desperate heartbreak and knowing you feel the stirrings of a person entering your inner world but being scared to jump over the cliff with them. It’s looking into their eyes after the beginnings of something that makes your heart race and saying “dammit I need to know you’re not going to break my heart.”
4) Shape Of You is all first dates and burning liquor and laughs in a crowded bar. It’s stumbling home through wet streets and slow dancing in the doorway. It’s hands in hair and running from a restaurant because you couldn’t pay. It’s watching the breaths of a lover in the dawn. It’s counting the freckles that adorn their stomach and back. It’s lingerie and home cooked meals and Netflix marathons and lazy Sundays when you realise you’ve fallen a little too far so all that you can do is keep falling hard.
5) Perfect is first dances and falling hard. It’s buying a ring because you look over one day and you think “If you walked away, my heart wouldn’t survive. I want to love you for every moment that I’m still alive (I’m writing this through a haze of emotion because this sums up every hope and dream I’ve ever had of the person who’ll love me despite all my hard stuff - wheelchair/anxiety/depression) This song is… true love. I’m going to go ahead and say that I think it’s true that that it’s better than Thinking Out Loud…)
6) Galway Girl is Irish af. I like to think of it as a flashback to the beginning of the Perfect ^^^ love story. It’s catchy and makes me want to do a jig. It reminds me of my parents and my aunties and cousins and uncles and sisters. It’s a clan song. It’s a chance meeting and having pieces fall into place from the very first day.
7) Happier - AARGH. This is every feeling ever when the person you love even if only from afar seems happier with someone that isn’t you and you know you could do a better job but they might never look your way… I’ll be here, waiting always.
8) New Man is a bit of 90′s R & B vibes. It’s a hip hop infused ode for what happens when the person who was a part of your heart comes running to you when a new relationship starts. It’s watching them change in front of your eyes for other guys (or girls) and it’s realising you don’t know who a person is anymore. It’s waves of history breaking upon a foreign shore. It’s losing maps to people you thought you knew like the back of your hand… It’s realising that they still want you in a way but it’s too late.
9) Hearts Don’t Break Around Here is “Yes I’m in love and I want to shout from the rooftops.” It’s the little moments of a couple’s relationship. It’s realising that you’ll look to every day of growing old and the love story you get to live. All I can say is Jesus Christ Cherry, he loves you and it makes me so happy ❤️
10) What Do I Know is Ed’s way of saying Shit maybe they were right… that I saved 2017. He is bringing us all together, a crowd of colours and lives and lover types. No matter who you are, there’s a story on this album for you… It’s a carelessly casual man looking in, saying Fuck you, your walls will never keep us out. We’ll be screaming the words to this music, united and proud.
11) How Would You Feel is all butterflies and pure intoxicating love. It’s a girl wearing her boyfriend’s shirt and regular good morning texts. The soft secretive kisses in a car and casually intimate caresses. It’s meeting the family for the first time and imagining one of your own. It’s looking at a person off guard, saying “I love you” and feeling like that person’s your home.
12) Supermarket Flowers is about Ed’s maternal grandmother and it’s making me think of Nana who joined the angels three years ago and… 😭 I miss you so much. I hope you’d be proud of us x.
13) Barcelona is dancing it out with people who share your heart. It’s Spanish carnival Latin vibes. It makes me think of girls in deep red skirts and men with roses between their teeth. It’s music in your blood and floating away when you dance. It’s the magic moments of a party where you feel like moments could last forever. Who wants to meet me in Barcelona 😜
14) Bibia Be Ye Ye gives me immediate carnival vibes. It’s infused with the melodies of Africa so I can only assume this was his Ghana project. It’s nights of madness and vibrant colours and familiar strangers who dance on tables and offer you liquor. It’s the feeling I get every time I go to a concert or to a new country, the ideas of exploration and self discovery and stories that will make you ache with laughter years later as you look back on the Polaroids.
15) Nancy Mulligan with its fiddles and it’s heart of true Irish blood makes me feel like I’m sitting at an impromptu gathering of musicians around my granny’s fire back home in Galway. It’s sepia photographs and wild cliffs and grandparents whose eyes shine with the fires of their youth as they tell you this story. It’s emerald hills and words in an ancient tongue. It’s a more modern Romeo & Juliet. It’s knowing that love transcends everything and you can have anything if you just have love.
16) Save Yourself has me gasping for air, my heart broken. This song is all helping others only to have them treat you like you’re less than the dirt on their shoe. It has me thinking of savage wolves who want to tear you down but still expect you to smile. It’s despair and anxiety and depression with the quiet steady voice of strength that somehow by the tiniest of miracles keeps getting back up. It’s knowing you need to save yourself by loving all the broken parts of you but not really being sure how to do it.
OH MY GOD THIS RECORD IS SHEER BRILLIANCE. I hope you love my review (Sorry it’s so long!!!)
“They have the kind of easy relationship that lets tension out of a room, they’re laughing at inside jokes and naming each other’s childhood celebrity crush as though they’ve been friends forever. It’s clear they love being a duo.”
Title: Jar of Hearts Pt. lll Pairing: Josh Dun/Reader Type: Fluff/Smut/Angst Word Count: 1.7k Warnings: Somewhat rough sex, blowjob, fingering, daddy kink, small fight. swearing, the basic shit lol A/N: I know y’all have probably been wanting some good makeup sex with Josh I grant your wishes here. This is most likely the last part because I don’t know if I can do anything else from here. Thank you all for the support on this story, I am really proud of it. I also hit 200 followers so here’s my way of celebrating! ♥
Two months had passed since you and Josh agreed to take a break. He found out where you were staying but never visited, only sent things. One morning you woke up to a package from an unknown sender. You sat at the table as you opened it to find a bottle of your favorite perfume. It was an expensive brand so you had only been able to buy it once a year ago and when you ran out, you couldn’t get another. There was a piece of paper in the box that you picked up and read: A beautiful girl as you should smell just as pretty. It was corny but it did make you smile.
A few days after that, the doorbell rang as you were watching TV. No one else was home so you got up to answer it. A young man greeted you and handed you a large bouquet of your favorite flowers. You took them and thanked him before closing the door. As you set the flowers down to go get a vase, a small card fell onto the floor. You picked it up and read it: These flowers aren’t nearly as perfect as you. You felt your cheek burn as you set the card down to get a vase of water.
The gifts stopped for a couple weeks which did sadden you a bit until as you were making dinner there was a knock on the door. You opened the door to find a small package on the floor. You grabbed it and closed the door before quickly opening it. It was a lamented photo. You carefully pulled it out to see that it was a signed picture of your all time favorite childhood celebrity. There was no note this time but you knew who it was from being as you only told one other person about your love for them.
A few more smaller packages came before you finally gave in and called Josh.
“Hello?” A raspy voice answered.
“Oh, didn’t mean to wake you up.”
“Y/N! It’s okay. Wake me anytime you want.” His voice changed to one of a ten year old getting his favorite toy on Christmas causing you to giggle.
“I got all your gifts. They’re very thoughtful, thank you.”
“I said I was gonna try and make things right. I know buying things probably doesn’t do much but I didn’t know if you wanted to see me so I sent packages instead.” He explained.
“You’re right, it doesn’t change what happened but it does show that you care and I appreciate it.”
“I love you, Y/N. I miss you so much.” His voice cracked slightly at the end.
“I miss you too, Joshua. Wanna come over tomorrow? We can talk about us.”
“Yes! Yes. Definitely.”
“Okay. Come over around 7pm. I’ll order your favorite pizza.”
“7pm. Got it. I look forward to it.”
Tomorrow night came faster than ever and you were sitting on the couch awaiting a knock on the door. You had put on a pair of denim skinny jeans with a floral blouse. You had minimal makeup on as you didn’t want to seem too eager to talk to Josh, even though you were.
As soon as you pulled out your phone to check Instagram, you heard a car pull up and ran over to the door to await the knock. Opening the door you were greeted by a young man. Not Josh. The pizza delivery guy.
“Good evening.” The boy greeted you with a smile.
“Hey, how much do I owe you.’ You let out a sigh as you turned to the table to grab your wallet.
“Here’s $15.” You handed him the money as he exchanged it for the pizza. As he turned to leave, you closed the door behind yourself before setting the pizza down in the kitchen.
You checked the clock to see it was almost 8pm. You groaned as you stormed over to your phone on the couch and dialed Josh’s number. After a few rings, he picked up.
“H-hello.” He hiccuped.
You could hear loud music in the background and giggling around him. This only fueled your anger.
“Are you serious, Joshua?! You’re out fucking partying and probably drunk off your ass.”
“So what?” He giggled, obviously not realizing your anger.
“You were supposed to be here at 7pm to talk, dipshit!” You practically yelled through the phone and just like that, he snapped out of it.
“Fuck! I’m so sorry, Y/N. I forgot. Tyler wanted to go out and celebrate the end of the tour, I did’t mean to stand you up.” His voice softened.
“I was about to forgive you for your stupidity, Joshua. But tonight just showed me how much you actually care to save our relationship.” You hung up the phone, not in the mood to hear any more of his excuses.
You got ready for bed and just cried for a little bit, clutching a stuffed animal that Josh had sent you. You wanted to fix shit with him, but he apparently didn’t. He just wanted to go around and collect more broken hearts for his collection. An hour or so had passed before you were dehydrated from the many tears you shed. You got up and dragged your self to the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge. As you chugged it, you hear a hard knock on the door. You looked at the microwave clock. It was nearly 2am.
“Who the fuck?” You mumbled to yourself as you unlocked the door. You carefully opened it and were attacked with lips on yours. You pushed the man off of you before realizing who it was.
“Joshua? It’s late, what are you doing here?”
“Fixing my many fuck ups.” He said sounding more sober than he was a few hours ago.
Before you could object and kick him out, he attached his lips to yours again this time with more passion. You gave into the kiss as you ran your fingers through his disheveled yellow locks. A quiet moan escaped his mouth as you gently bit his bottom lip. One hand was holding your cheek while the other glided down your side to your butt and squeezed, causing you to jump into him where he took the opportunity to grab you and pick you up. You two didn’t break the kiss as he carried you over to the couch and sat down so you were straddling him. You smirked into the kiss as you began grinding into his lap. Josh threw his head back, exposing his neck to you. You smiled before starting to leave markings all over.
“Fuck, I missed you.” Josh hissed.
You didn’t reply. You only crawled down onto your knees so you were between his legs. Josh didn’t object, only helped you get his pants off.
“Mmm, I forgot how huge you were.” You whispered as you began to stroke him painfully slow. You knew you were driving him crazy from his hips bucking up into your hand, wanting you to go faster. To Josh’s surprise, you didn’t speed up. You wrapped your lips around his erection, taking as much as you could without gagging.
“Oh God, Y/N. You have no idea how much I missed your mouth.” He moaned out, louder than he intended to.
As you began to feel him twitch inside your hollow mouth, you quickly pulled away. He let out a gentle whine, missing the contact.
“Not yet, baby.” You smirked.
Josh didn’t hesitate before picking you up again and carrying you into the bedroom this time. You yelped at the sudden lift off the ground but went back to kissing his neck, teasing him more. Once he reached he foot of your bed, he plopped you down before helping you get your shirt off. He started leaving a trail of kisses down your chest and stomach. His fingers twiddled with the buttons on your jeans before sliding them off of your body. He stood up and stared at your almost naked body, biting his lip. Your cheeks turned a deep red as you covered your face. He bent back over you and pulled your hands away from your face.
“Don’t hide, beautiful. You’re perfect.” He whispered as his fingers glided over your wetness through your panties. He pushed them to the side and started to rub circles on your clit. “In every. Single. Way.” He emphasized as he pushed two fingers in you causing you to arch your back and let out a moan. He growls lightly as he attacks your neck, covering you in hickies. His fingers continue at a fast speed, curling in the right spots.
“J-Josh…I’m close.” You can barely get out in one breath. He pulls his fingers out as soon as you finish your sentence.
“Not yet.” He says, mocking your teasing nature from earlier.
He takes off the rest of his clothing while you unhook your bra. He slides your panties off in a swift motion, leaving you both completely bare and exposed to each other. He aligns his erection to your opening and moves it around, covering himself in your wetness. You whine and buck your hips, needing more.
“Someone really missed me, didn’t they?”
You don’t respond, only give him a pleading look. His eyes turn darker before thrusting into you harshly. You gasp and shut your eyes.
“Didn’t they?” He says through gritted teeth.
“Yes, Daddy!” You moan as he begins to fuck you to the perfect rhythm.
His large hands glide up your torso and grip your breasts. You pull him down to kiss him hard while you claw at his back. You feel him hum into the kiss and smirk knowing how much he loves the pain you cause him.
“Y/N. I-I’m close. Wher-”
“Inside me.” You barely let him finish what he was saying.
Within a few moments Josh was panting harder than before and spilling inside you. The full feeling caused you to follow after him, your legs shaking around him. Josh lets a few more thrusts out before carefully pulling out of you and laying down.
“That was…eventful.” He chuckles as he wipes his forehead with the back of his hand.
You wiggled closer to him and curl up to his body. He wraps his arms around you, not wanting to let go.
“That was a pretty good way to show how much you care.” You kissed his cheek before nuzzling into his neck.
those were words with which paul, ringo and john could describe their guitarist george the past few weeks. being in liverpool for a few weeks and then going to america again made him quite unstable. he’d have mood swings, insomnia and his bad side - you could say - showing. why, you ask?
while the band was in liverpool, their home, george had reunited with his childhood friend and long-time crush, y/n. since they were kids, y/n and george had done everything together for their mothers were close friends and both families often did things together and visited each other. they had lived across the street from each other and always came over after school.
when george found out he really liked the girl as more than just a friend, he was in another country. far away from y/n physically and mentally. it was before they returned to their home town. but, in the few weeks he spent there, he never found the right moment to tell her. and y/n wasn’t exactly in the right state of mind as of her mother had passed away while george was away.
and now, when george was sixteen hours before seeing y/n again, he didn’t really know how to tell her how he feels. he wasn’t good at those things. and he was too embarrassed to ask his band mates for they already thought of him as the small one, the young one. george didn’t want to make the impression that he had no experience in girls. not that it’s not true, of course.
so, as george was laying in his hotel room, trying to fall asleep, y/n tortured his tired mind. she was the only thing on his mind and he couldn’t even get the chords on his guitar right, earlier on stage. it was the reason ringo, paul and john had left him sulking in a room for a good song was ruined during that night’s show. george stated in his mind that they don’t understand anything and that they don’t know what it’s like.
george didn’t know if y/n felt the same way about him, but he just felt like he had to tell her how he felt. he needed to let her know. how could he keep it a secret? that wouldn’t be fair to y/n. he was always listening to what she had to say to him, they both trusted each other. and for this was really important, he can’t not tell her about it. perhaps it may ruin their friendship, because they had known each other since their day of birth and wouldn’t be proper to be in love with your best friend, but… you just can’t help.
sometimes george thought that maybe he shouldn’t tell her. i mean, why would she like him? he was just some celebrity now, and thought of himself as nothing special. there are so many other guys that would guarantee her a better, more peaceful life. and neither george nor y/n knew if he would spend his whole life touring or not. so really, why would y/n want to be with anyone who couldn’t promise anything? she’d much rather have someone by her side who she could plan her whole life out with. george wasn’t that person.
nevertheless, george was going to tell y/n how he felt. in a little bit more than sixteen hours, he will. and perhaps everything will change and maybe nothing will. nobody could know.
“y/n, my dear sister, what are your plans for tomorrow?” mary (y/n’s sister, yeah, i wanted to name her properly) asked through the telephone. “i was thinking you could visit and spend time with my kids.”
“oh, mary…” y/n smiled, “sorry, but i’ve got to say no. tomorrow is a taken day for me.”
“you’re saying no? you mean you’ve got plans?” mary questioned.
“please, tell me, what in the world is better than meeting your lovely sister?”
“well,” y/n inhaled a huge breath, “george harrison is coming back to liverpool for a while.”
“ohhh,” mary said and chuckled, “is that the lad from that famous band? is he the one you’re in love with? he was on TV just moments ago.”
“mary,” y/n sternly said, but then let out a laugh, “right you are, you know me so well.”
“well, then i will leave you to it. don’t forget to use protection.” mary joked.
“dear lord…” y/n rolled her eyes with a smile.
“but seriously, when will you tell the poor lad? i bet he’s dying to know.” mary said.
“i don’t know…”
“you know he’s positive about you, don’t you? remember that phone call he made i told you about?”
“yeah, yeah, i remember. he could have been talking about you, though.”
mary rolled her eyes. “you naive little lamb. course he was talking about you! there’s no doubt. he always saw me as the strict older sister.”
“strict? don’t fool me.” y/n laughed. “but i’ll try and tell him, alright? so you don’t feel heavy about it.”
mary rolled her eyes again. “me? i have no part in this. and i don’t want any, either. only if i get to plan the wedding.”
“mary, shut it.” y/n said.
“love you, too, sis.” mary said with a chuckle.
“good evening to you.” y/n said and put down the phone, ending the call. she huffed. tomorrow will be a hard day.
being around a celebrity - that is what you can call george now - is hard enough, in public or not. but being around a celebrity who’s your childhood best friend and long-term love is much harder.
but y/n will hold it all in and somehow try to tell george how she feels about him. she needed to. she couldn’t keep anything from george. y/n wouldn’t do that to him.
the day came, and george with his bandmates had landed in the liverpool airport. their flight was nothing out of the ordinary, and the landing, too. hundreds of fans were waiting for them at the airport, but they quickly got away and drove to their desired places.
george’s parents greeted their son with a breakfast at his home. he didn’t want a party for him returning home, for he thought of that as unnecessary and too much of an event. there was just three of them at home, which george thought was enough.
after catching up with his mum and dad about what he had missed while being away, he got ready to visit y/n at her home. it was raining outside, but it wasn’t much of a bother. george thought he and y/n could take a walk somewhere, but maybe the sky will clear out. oh wait, could he properly walk around now? not really.
even to go to y/n’s house, he had to run so quick as if a pack of bears would be chasing after him. his skinny legs carried him over the pavement, past a few groups of girls sitting on the pavement. they started screaming and when they were up on their feet to run after him, george had already opened the door in the fence around of y/n’s house. seconds passed and he was safely behind the front door. having been in the house all his childhood, george professionally locked the door fully.
what if they smash the windows? no, thanks to the metal fence around the house, they couldn’t. and, george hoped, the girls would be polite enough to leave the house be.
once george had calmed his breathing and neated down his turtleneck sweater, he looked around the house. he didn’t see anyone near him, so he walked further into the house. for a regular person, it would be rude to just barge in y/n’s house, but george had… you could say, privileges. so, the young boy was sure she wouldn’t be badly surprised if she would see him walking around.
george studied the white hallway walls for new photographs. he only saw pictures of y/n’s family, y/n when she was younger, george and y/n as kids, teenagers and… there was just a place for one more photograph. if only they could take a picture now. george did bring his photograph home, but he left it at the house. eh, regret.
“george?” he heard her sweet voice calling from the other end of the hallway. george turned his head in her direction and saw her. finally. after all this waiting, he finally met her. he finally had a glance at her.
george stalked down the hallway towards her and as soon as he was close to her, he brought her in for a tight hug. y/n immediately wrapped her arms around george’s skinny frame and sighed into his sweater. “i’ve missed you.” george spoke in y/n’s ear quietly and slowly. y/n felt like she fell in love with him all over again because of his voice. he talked so sweetly and lazily, it sounded like his words were made of warm honey.
“i’ve missed you, too.” y/n replied. george wanted to stay this near to her forever, but the girl pulled away for this wasn’t all she wanted to do today. george almost whined at the loss of contact, but dealt with it. “how have you been? how did you even get in here?”
“oh, i ran.” george simply said. y/n raised her eyebrows. “the door was open.” george corrected himself. y/n chuckled.
“that’s irregular, but alright. did you lock it?” y/n walked into the kitchen of her house. george nodded. “thank you. would you like some tea?” she turned around as she had stopped at the kitchen counter and she saw george nodding again. y/n turned back around to face the kitchen window and heat the water in the kettle.
george leaned against the doorframe and watched y/n boiling the water. her hair hadn’t changed, her clothing style hadn’t either. her hips were softly swaying to the rhythm of a song that she was humming quietly to herself. she had a good voice and george had always told her that, but she didn’t take any serious notice of it. y/n was the same george had left her a month or so before. as beautiful, mesmerizing, humble and positive as before. but george thought he loved her more and more with every second.
“so, i probably sound boring if i ask you how was your mini-tour.” y/n spoke, getting the mugs and tea out of a cupboard. “but how was it?”
george smiled very faintly. “it's… it’s uh, very loud.” he replied. he heard y/n chuckle. “lots of people, you know. i’m sorry,” george started. y/n turned around to look at her friend, “i don’t want to talk about it. i feel like someone’s interviewing me.”
“oh, pardon me.” y/n turned back around to make the tea. “i just want to know how you’ve been doing.” y/n said and then turned back around to george with two hot mugs in hand. “shall we be going to the living room?” she asked.
george nodded, his facial expression showing that he had just returned to reality. the blueish grey light from the outside rain showed george’s cheekbones perfectly and y/n almost melted at the sight of him right then and there. she extended the mug in her hand towards george and he took it gladly. “it’s extremely hot.” y/n warned.
she walked back into the hallway and then into the spacious living room. it only had one sofa, a tv, a coffee table and the rest of the room was filled with books, blankets and pillows lying around. george followed y/n who sat down on the sofa and as he placed his mug on the coffee table, he spotted a black cat whirling its tail around the leg of the coffee table. “you have a cat now?” george spoke, leaning back down into the sofa.
“uh-huh.” y/n nodded. there was a gap between y/n and george and both of them could feel that it was the physical form of the awkward tension between them. “ricken?” the girl said and the cat perked its ears.
“ricken?” george furrowed his eyebrows. y/n chuckled as her cat jumped up on the sofa between her and george.
“yeah, i named it after one of your guitars.” she replied. “the rickenbacker. you still use it, right?”
“yeah, i do.” george said. she named her cat after my guitar?
“i named it after your guitar so that if you were gone for a long time, i’d have something connected with you at home, beside me.” y/n said.
“that’s really nice, y/n.” george said. “ricken?” the cat turned its head to george. he slowly started to pet the cat and it started purring. “a girl or a boy?”
“she’s a girl.” y/n replied. “so, how is your life? how have you been, george?” she asked, looking at george with her head turned sideways. george shrugged his shoulders.
“i’ve been alright.” he said.
“is there any girl on the horizon for you?” y/n smirked. george grinned and let out a soft chuckle.
“ah….” george started. could he say it right now? he didn’t want to, he wanted to spend some not ruined time with y/n, “let’s talk about that later.”
y/n chuckled, trying hard not to show any emotion. “alright. but-”
“could we talk about you?” george interrupted. “i feel like you think i’m the important one now. but i’m not. i’m here to spend time with you.” he spoke slowly, petting ricken who was sleeping in his lap then. “so how are you?”
y/n huffed. “i’ve been…. managing.” she said. “but it’s okay. i got ricken and started playing piano. i’m also working, so… i’m alright.”
“how old is ricken?” george asked.
“eight months or so.”
“hmm.” george raised his eyebrows. “she looks older, bigger.”
“it’s because of her species, i think,” y/n said, “at least that’s what the lady selling her told me.”
“the lady selling her?” george furrowed his eyebrows. “that sounds horrible.”
“don’t worry, george.” y/n said with a chuckle. “her cat gave birth to eight kittens total and she had no one else to give them to, so she just took them with her to the market and gave them away.”
“ricken was the only one left.” y/n said. “the lady said that two families had taken all the others and ricken was sort of left behind. but then i appeared! only cost me a few pence.”
“that’s nice of you.” george said. “but i still don’t like the thought of people selling animals. it’s just like selling a person.” he admitted. “paul is good with cats, they love him.”
“paul?” y/n furrowed her eyebrows, trying to remember if george had ever mentioned him. “oh, wait-paul mccartney? the boy who introduced you to john? he plays bass, right?”
“yeah, that boy.” george laughed. “have you never met my mates, y/n? i thought i introduced them to you.”
“i don’t think i have. although, i hear from my sister that they’re all quite attractive.” y/n said and then chuckled. “you’re alright, too.”
george laughed. “thanks.”
“i’m just teasing. i’d love to meet them, though.” y/n admitted. “what are they doing while you’re all here?”
“uh… i don’t really know. john’s with cynthia. paul and ringo… “ george shrugged. “perhaps same as me, they never mentioned their plans.”
“hmm.” y/n hummed. “seems weird. your mates don’t tell you what they want to do.”
“i didn’t really ask them. we didn’t really have much time together.”
“what? you’re always together, no matter where.”
“well… it’s hard to reach me when i’m only thinking about one thing. i bet it’s that way with everyone. you just have that one focus and nothing else…” george felt himself drifting away as y/n wanted to ask him what’s that one thing on his mind. but then the young man cleared his head. “anyways, have you got anyone on your mind?” he suddenly asked.
“uhh…” y/n raised her eyebrows. now’s your chance, y/n, do it. she fidgeted with her fingers in her lap. “yeah, there is one person.”
“tell me about it.” george urged. y/n was silent. “c'mon, it’s alright. you can trust me.”
“okay…” y/n trailed off. “there is a guy i’ve known for a while.” she started. “and i really like him a lot, he’s like the perfect one! he likes the same things i do, he sings nicely and oh my… i just really like him, i feel like it’s love i’m feeling.” y/n blushed slightly.
“sounds good to me.” george shrugged his shoulders, pretending to think nothing of it. “do i know him?”
“yes, you could say that.” y/n nodded and chuckled. “what about you? tell me about your… romances.” the girl smiled at george.
“alright, well…” george sighed and looked at the ceiling. “your ceiling’s black.” he stated.
“don’t change the subject, george.” y/n warned, but chuckled. “but yeah. there was a day i felt artistic and i just got some paint and did it.”
“do you regret it?”
“no. it’s not that big of a change in the house, so i guess i don’t really notice it.”
“it looks nice.” george admitted and then looked back at y/n. “i’ll tell you about this love of mine, don’t remind me.” y/n chuckled and brought ricken in her lap. “she’s…. she’s one of a kind. i don’t think you could find anyone that would be even similar to her. she’s one in a million, y/n, and i’m afraid she doesn’t acknowledge it. i barely see her lately. but i’m waiting for the right moment to tell her, yet… i feel like i shouldn’t because it would ruin our friendship.” george spoke and his eyes showed that he was drifting mentally away. y/n knew at that moment, she really knew it was her george was talking about. mary was absolutely right. “but i’m just me. i’m nothing special. well, i am something special, but i’m sure she would like to be with someone who could guarantee her an ordinary life. with me having this band business and all, i can’t guarantee anything to anyone. and i’m the same as every other guy, there’s nothing really special about me, except i can play guitar and sing, but… besides that, i don-”
whatever george could have said, y/n drowned down her lips. she had realised george was feeling the same way about her as she did about him, it was she who george was talking so passionately about. she surprised him by putting her lips on his in a sweet kiss as her hand was on his cheek.
george’s eyebrows raised at the action, but he didn’t protest. instead, his hand wrapped around y/n’s neck and disappeared in her bright hair, pulling her closer. he inhaled a huge breath and kissed her back, pressing himself against y/n’s delicate body and with her agreement, he softly pushed her down on the sofa. ricken quickly jumped off the furniture with a loud whine.
“y/n.” he said suddenly, pulling away and steadying himself above her. george got so caught up in the moment, he didn’t know what he was doing. he searched y/n’s face for anything, but he couldn’t read her for the bliss he was in. “i waited so long to do that.” george admitted. “but you like someone else, i-”
“it’s you, george.” y/n whispered. “i was talking about you.” she stated. “please kiss me again.” she sighed before george bent down and glided his lips against hers again. y/n put her arms around george’s neck, pulling him closer to her. his one hand was on y/n’s waist and the other was in her hair while their kisses grew more and more passionate. “i can’t breathe.” y/n suddenly said. she didn’t know if it was only because of the kissing or also the bliss she was feeling at the moment.
“was that your first kiss, love?” george asked, making y/n melt at the nickname. she nodded. “mine, too.”
“wasn’t it some girl from school? or was that only rumours?” y/n furrowed her eyebrows.
“what?” george asked, confused.
“oh, nothing.” y/n said, shaking her head. she tilted her chin up at george and smiled. “do you really… feel like that… about me?” she whispered.
george nodded slowly. “i waited so long,” he said, “i felt like i would die if i wasn’t by your side at moments. you make me feel so good when i’m with you, i feel like i’m alright and nothing’s wrong or worrying me. it’s like… there’s just the two of us. and everything’s okay and we’re in our own little word.” george spoke quietly. “i just can’t live without you. you’re like those little… drug pills to me. every time i say goodbye to you, i need you more and more.” his fingers traced softly along y/n’s jawbone as he spoke.
y/n almost cried at his words, but she only blushed and smiled slightly. “that’s so nice of you, geo.” she said quietly. “thank you.” her hand made its way on george’s cheek. “you’re the nicest person ever.”
george smiled and kissed y/n again. he grunted quietly. “i just feel so good around you.” he sighed. george’s eyes looked at y/n’s lips, then her cheek and then he finally found her eyes again. “are you okay? with this?” he suddenly asked.
y/n laughed quietly. “yes.” she replied. “yes, i am.” her head nodded with a smile on her lips. y/n couldn’t completely believe this was all happening, but she played along either way. “i’m so glad that you’re here with me.”
george only looked at y/n, trying to push the fact that he would be going away in a month’s time out of his mind. to enjoy the moment. to appreciate that he was there, with y/n. he was the closest to her he had always wanted, holding her and talking to her. and for once, he could speak to her with no boundaries and nothing holding him back.
“george?” y/n and george heard a voice coming from the direction of the front door. “are you in there?”
george sighed. “who’s out there?” y/n asked as they both sat up on the sofa. george chuckled.
“eh, those would be paul and ringo and john.” he replied.
there were a few bangs at the door. “george!” boomed a stronger voice. george sighed again.
“i guess i’ll have to go out there.” he spoke. y/n chuckled.
