DCI Pizza

The Cavalier: sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon and pineapple; a whole lotta meat with a little fruit

Carolina Crown: spicy sausage, jalapeños and buffalo sauce; aka The Inferno

Troopers: grilled chicken, cheddar, bacon and bbq sauce; the western

Boston Crusaders: grilled chicken, ground beef, Canadian bacon and goat cheese; it’s a whole animal farm

Bluecoats: any kind of pizza eaten at a 45 degree angle

Numbers You Need To Know For DCI Finals
  • .512 - The gap between the 1st place Blue Devils and 2nd place Vanguard
  • 8 - Number of times the 1st place corps at Prelims/Semis did not outright win at Finals (1972, 1974, 1978, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2008, & 2015), so around 18% of the time.
  • 1.4 - The largest margin jumped by a championship winner since the change from the tick system in the 80s, done by Phantom in 1996 when they went from 3rd to 1st.
  • .375 - The largest margin jumped by a corps that did not tie for 1st, again by Phantom, but in 2008.
  • 1.0 - The margin between BD and SCV at Semis in 1999. Vanguard of course closed the gap and tied the Devils on Finals night.
  • .5 - The gap between Cadets and Cavaliers in 2000, the last time there was a tie for the championship.
  • .15 - The difference between Crown and BD after Semis in 2015, the most recent example of a group making the leap.

Don’t ever give up on your dream of marching Drum Corps and don’t let anyone tell you you’re incapable of making it. I started as a saxophone player and continued to be a voice major, neither are really found in DCI. As of today I have marched 2 seasons of World Class corps and marched in DCI finals with my dream corps, Phantom Regiment. I told myself I wouldn’t give up until I achieved my dream….you shouldn’t either.
