cause yeah clearly there are a lot of benders who are poor

BK: During Aang and Zuko’s heyday, the ability to bend lightning was an incredibly rare skill usually reserved for the inner circles of Fire Nation royalty and high-ranking military officers. Now, in the thick of the Avatar world’s own Industrial Age, we see that this skill is, while not widespread, common enough that it is practiced by blue-collar workers changing up massive batteries in the city’s power plants. This kind of work is incredibly taxing on a person’s chi reserves; that’s why the plant bosses tend to get desperate, strapping young men like Mako to sign up for the grueling task. Kainora Prompt as you requested in your post! Love your writing :D anyway, a jealous Kainora au with a jealous Kai? I love jealous Kai...I can't get enough! Anyway, whether or not you chose this prompt, write onwards as your writing is awesome!

(Well, How can I say no to jealous AU. Plus, You asked so nicely)

More Airbenders started making there way to the northern air temple, a year after Dynamic convergence. From the water tribes, the fire nation, even other towns in the earth kingdom. All of the people who had gained the ability to manipulate the air, and wanted to invest in it further started popping up at the northern air temple.

Jinora had finally gotten her master tattoos on her twelfth birthday, While this meant she was treated with respect, she was also given the task of helping the new air benders adjust, this left a lot less time for Kai to spend time with her. Kai wasn’t exactly a fan of this, but hey, Jinora was happy, so he was happy. Kai was near the eastern wing of the temple when he saw the new air benders arriving. While this became very common for Kai to see, what he didn’t expect was one of the new air benders clearly putting moves on Jinora.

Kai quickly moved to get a better look. The boy appeared about 13-14 in age. He was a head taller than Jinora, he had darkish skin, usual for someone from the north or south pole. Based on his winter coat and snow boots, he was clearly from the north. He had long dark hair, that was tied in a ponytail. He was pretty muscular for a teen, like if the spirits of puberty said,’Lets give this guy flawless skin and dashing good looks’. Kai hated him already. But held his tongue and watched the two speak.

“You must be the daughter of Tenzin, Jinora, Correct?” The water tribe teen said with a smile.

“You are correct. and you are?” Jinora asked curiously.

“Nanuq, It means ‘He who shames Polar bears’ ” Nanuq said with a smile.

Jinora laughed lightly at the joke, Causing kai to see red.

Kai wanted nothing more than to kick the tar out of the arrogant prick.

“Green is not a flattering color on you.” Someone said from behind Kai.

Kai turned to see Korra smirking at him.

“What do you want?” Kai said bitterly.

“Oh nothing, just watching your reaction. I hated feeling jealous, and I can’t understand how you are not over there kicking that guy’s butt. He is clearly hitting on your girlfriend.” Korra explained.

“Jinora and I are just … I don’t know. Any way, if she wants to talk to that scum bucket, why should I care.” Kai said as he failed to hide his apparent jealousy.

“Alright, suit yourself, but I warn you. Water tribe members are very… Insistant and relationships escalate quickly.” Korra said as she left the tan air bender to percolate on the thought.

Korra was right about Nanuq, he was very insistent. He was constantly trying to talk to Jinora every chance he got. Kai couldn’t tell if Jinora was interested in that guy or not, mostly because he could never catch her alone. After two weeks of this, Kai was done with this. One day after practice, Jinora had left to help her dad with something. Kai took this time to approach Nanuq.

“Hey, Nanuq, can we talk for a sec?” Kai asked the water tribe teen as he was clearly watching Jinora walk away.

“Hm? Oh, yeah. sure. Kai was it?” Nanuq answered with disinterested.

“Look, I have been noticing how you have been constantly talking to Jinora. You are kind of acting like a tick. It is getting really annoying, you have to give her some space.” Kai said as nicely as he could.

Nanuq looked at Kai and laughed.

“If that was the case, I think she would tell me.” Nanuq said with a confident smirk.

“Jinora isn’t exactly the type to tell someone that. She is way too nice for that. But, I am just saying you should ease up a little.” Kai said barely holding his facade.

Nanuq suddenly snapped his fingers.

“Oh, I get it! You have a crush on her don’t you? You feel threatened by me, not that I can’t blame you. But, it is obvious that you would think you had a chance with her before I got here. But considering how you are just friends, I can see that you have no chance now that I am here.” Nanuq taunted.

Kai used every ounce of self restraint to hold himself back from blasting the kid off of the air temple.

“I am just giving you a heads up.” Kai said forcing a calm composure.

“If you feel so threatened, than come at me. I don’t know from what piece of crap place you come from, but up in the north pole, we fight like men.” Nanuq challenged.

Kai smirked.

“Alright, we will duel.” Kai said, happy that he was about to unleash his frustration.

“good, If I win, you buzz off.  If you win, I buzz off. Deal?" Nanuq said with a fierce glare from his dark blue eyes.

"Deal” Kai agreed.

Nanuq sent an air blast, which Kai easily dodged. Everyone in the area stopped to watch the two air benders duke it out. Nanuq blasted air like crazy. Kai side stepped each attack and smiled.

“Wow, when you challenged me, I thought you would actually be good, oh ‘shammer of Polar bears’ I honestly think You couldn’t even shame an ant.” Kai taunted, causing the crowd to laugh and Nanuq to become even angrier.

Nanuq shot a massive wild air blast, that was unintentionally headed towards one of the younger new air benders. Kai quickly sprinted and  pushed the kid out of the way and took the blast which launched him head first against the  temple’s stone wall before he could react.

Everyone in the crowd was shocked at Kai’s quick save. Nanuq to the time to shoot several shots at Kai, knocking repeatedly against the temple wall, who was clearly to dazed to fight.

“Not so tough now, are you?” Nanuq taunted as he was about to finish the dazed Kai off, Until a blast of air knocked him on his butt.

“Hey whats the…” Nanuq said before looking to see Jinora, clearly furious.

“Jinora?” Kai said confused, his head was killing him.

Jinora quickly went to Kai’s side.

“Are you okay?” Jinora said as she helped the boy stand up.

“Im good.” Kai said as he dusted himself off. Jinora turned her attention to Nanuq.

“As for you. I saw what you did. You almost hit that poor kid with your shoddy air bending. If Kai didn’t save that Kid, you could have splattered him all over the wall. And instead of being a decent human being and stopping there, you kept attacking My BOYFRIEND!” Jinora yelled angrily.

Kai felt a blush appear at Jinora’s words. Nanuq was at a loss for words.

“But… But I.. But he… I have a fight to finish!” Nanuq yelled in frustration. Nanuq got up and just charged at Kai

Before Jinora said anything else or did anything. Kai air swept Nanuq causing him to trip. Kai than used air bending to stand him back up, and than knocked him down, all before Nanuq could even say anything.

“The fight is done. Now if you excuse me, MY GIRLFRIEND and I were going to go gliding.” Kai said with a smirk.

Jinora and kai walked away leaving Nanuq at the mercy of an angry crowd who watched his jerkish behavior.

“I’m sorry.” Kai said softly.

“For what?” Jinora asked curiously.

“For thinking you were interested in that creep. I was so jealous, I thought that you were going to go for him over… me.” Kai said as he lowered his head.

“Its alright, I am kind of at fault here. I should have told that guy straight up I wasn’t interested. I tried to subtly tell him, but he isn’t exactly bright.” Jinora said causing the two to laugh.

“I should never of Doubted you Jin.” Kai said with a grin on his face.

“If it makes you feel any better, remember that fire nation girl that was talking to you a couple weeks back?”

“Who, Akemi?” Kai asked confused.

“I kind of told her, that if I saw her flirting with you again, I would air bend her hair into knots that can never be untangled.” Jinora said calmly.

“I guess we both are the jealous type, huh?”

“I guess so.”
