Tucked away in the hills of the Catskills, father Putnam recently took us on an early spring trek to Pecoy Notch. En route to the peak - we passed through an amazingly odd creation of stone terraces, chairs, and fire pit areas. 

Stacks of slate piled fifteen feet into the air literally packed the steep slopes along one section of the hike.
