Mark, Char, if you found out someone you trusted lied to you, used you, and manipulated you for years all in the name of "protecting" you, how would you feel about it? Do you think that if someone does all of that just to protect someone from danger that it's justifiable? Or would you be angry about it?

MARK: … I… I don’t know.
MARK: People have reasons for the things they do, don’t they? I… suppose I’d be really hurt at first. Incredibly so. But… I suppose I would… try my best to understa-

CHARLOTTE: Fuck that noise.
MARK: E-excuse me?
CHARLOTTE: Pardon my French.
MARK: That wasn’t even French-
CHARLOTTE: My point stands though. Screw that. That doesn’t justify anything! If they were trying to ‘protect’ us then why couldn’t they just say that outright that they were?!

CHARLOTTE: Also, you used the term ‘manipulated’. That’s already lots’a warning bells, buddy.
CHARLOTTE: Of course I’d be freaking mad about it!
MARK: Charlotte, this question was hypothetical. Calm down.
CHARLOTTE:
CHARLOTTE: … Sorry.

Pope Gregory IX basically issued a death warrant for cats because he believed they were incarnations of Satan and/or associated with devil worship. This led to a decline in the cat population in Europe, which led to a surge in the rodent population in Europe, which exacerbated the Bubonic plague and led to a catastrophic (ha) decline in the human population in Europe.

Moral of the story: Don’t fuck with cats. They most likely ARE incarnations of Satan and therefore you will be punished.
