cas will always choose dean

There’s a shit ton of great meta on this, but honestly I have to say I just see it really simply. To say that Cas is in love with humanity, is to say that he is in love with Dean. Castiel’s fall has always, always, since season four, been linked to Dean. He chooses free will, he chooses humanity, and how has this choice always been represented? As Cas choosing Dean.

Castiel choosing humanity is inextricably connected to Cas choosing Dean. Before this moment, I don’t believe the show has ever, explicitly or implicitly, differentiated between the two. The only discernible reason for that weighted pause is to, for the first time, make that distinction, calling Cas’ motives into question. Is he in love with humanity, or is he in love with Dean?

If previous narrative is to be believed, the two are one and the same, and the answer would be both. If Hannah and Dean are to be believed, it’s one man, one guy - humanity doesn’t even factor in.

The question is no longer whether Destiel is being deliberately portrayed by the writers. That pause is a GIANT SPARKLY RAINBOW SPOTLIGHT pinpointed on it. The question is whether or not they’re actually going to have the balls to admit it.

Hi there! I really love (LOVE) your metas, especially, #the love chevron (i like Crowley but only like Crowley not Crowley/Dean, you know). But your opinion on this couple is very interesting. Really. I want to read more about them)) But i think, Dean always chooses Cas over Crowley, bc it’s simple choise - Crowley isn’t Sam or Mary or someone. Crowley is evil (yeah, not so strong lately but he is demon sooo it’s obvious)So, i think it’s not big deal. But mb Dean really has some feelings for him

Hmm I know what you mean but that’s just taking them as the character without the metaphor part or the back story or the very strong subtext which is a big part of why it IS a big deal :)

Let’s be real it’s not just that Dean chooses Cas over Crowley, it’s that he chooses Cas over anyone whenever he really needs to, even himself sometimes and Crowley’s reaction too is what is important and DOES make it a big deal, acting like the bitter ex, saving Cas FOR DEAN, knowing that he needs Cas to save Dean etc etc etc

Yeah basically I know where you’re coming from but for me it IS deeper than just that and it IS a big deal :)

lol Cas is NOT a Winchester, he is living inside the dead body of a man he murdered and ruined the Novak family.

Okay, so I don’t exactly know why I’m the target of ignorant anons like these.

I appreciate and love Cas’ existence, and I refuse to tolerate any Cas hate whatsoever.

He is, in canon, a member of the Winchester family. The show has established numerous times that Cas is a Winchester, especially in S12. Dean Winchester himself (and Sam) called him family (“You’re our brother), and that “we don’t leave family behind.” Mary Winchester herself said she almost lost one of her boys. Sam and Dean have expressed worry for him, have assisted him, and have constantly chosen him over others. Cas also chooses them, puts them before himself, and “always comes when Dean Dean & Sam call”. Their enemies often use Cas against them because they know that he’s so important to them. Regarding the specific type of feelings Sam has towards Cas vs. the feelings Dean has towards Cas - well, that’s a post for another day.

Sorry sweetie, but Cas is a Winchester whether you like it or not.

**Side note: Cas is a VITAL character. Without Castiel, the show would have been cancelled; it almost was when Gamble decided to kill Cas off in S7. Ratings were hella abysmal, the show both literally and figuratively lost its mojo, and she had no choice but to bring him back.

Cas transformed the show and the characters who have an invaluable relationship with him (Dean and Sam).

Cas has changed this fandom.

Cas is written all over S12.

We ain’t kissing Cas goodbye anytime soon.

Domestic Destiel thoughts

Some of my favorite domestic destiel thoughts:

-Cas and Dean arguing over who does the dishes. Playing rock paper scissors for it, Dean always loses because he always chooses scissors.

-Cas threatening Dean with all the rage of heaven if he doesn’t start picking up his beer bottles

-Cas waking up before Dean every morning and planting a gentle kiss on Dean’s lips causing Dean’s mouth to twitch into a sleepy smile

-Cas and Dean fighting over the remote

-Dean cooking his special hamburgers anytime Cas wants because he knows how much his angel loves them

-taking bubble baths together and making bubble beards

-Cas rubbing Dean’s sore back after a hard hunt

-Cas unable to keep his eyes off a grease covered Dean after he comes back in from working in the Impala.

-Going grocery shopping and arguing over who gets to push the shopping cart and who gets to carry the heavy items into the bunker.

-Cas kissing every one of Dean’s wounds and scars to let him know he loves every part of him

-Dean failing miserably at a romantic dinner because he’s so distracted by how beautiful Cas is that he burns dinner.

-Cas saying he doesn’t need the dinner, all he needs is Dean before placing a gentle kiss on Dean’s lips.

Dean and Castiel share a few classes at college. They have th same opinion on many things and totally different on others, just to the right degree that make discussions interesting. Cas sometimes shoots a small smile in Dean’s direction when Dean says something clever and Dean always chooses Cas when they have to work in pairs.

They aren’t friends, just acquaintances, but Dean’s still really happy to see Cas at the party where he’s been dragged to by his friend Charlie who immediately abandoned him to make out with her girlfriend. Cas looks as lost as Dean feels and gives Dean a relieved smile when he approaches him.

They have fun that night. They finally really talk so Dean finds out what Cas’ major is (comparative literature), where he’s from (Illinois) and what he does in his free time (he likes foreign movies and keeps bees on the roof of the apartment building he lives in). Cas’ eyes shine with interest when Dean talks about the band he plays in and the car he’s renovating. They drink and laugh and talk some more.

Their cheeks are flushed from alcohol and laughing when they leave the party and stumble into the cold street. They don’t live far away from each other and they’re not ready to go to bed, so they decide not to call a taxi, but walk. And maybe they’re a bit too drunk for that because Cas argues with a streetlamp that refuses to get out of his way and Dean almost has an accident when he tries to pee in a bush but is laughing too hard. It’s fun though.

They are singing Bohemian Rhapsody in front of the Winchester’s house when Cas grabs the lapel of Dean’s jacket and yanks him closer, making the words hitch in Dean’s throat.

“Wait, wait, wait, Dean,” he mumbles as Dean takes a breath to continue singing.

Dean blinks at him, confused, and realizes that their faces are so close he can feel Cas’ warm breath on his face and that it makes his heart beat a bit faster.

“Dean, I’m sorry, I can’t be your friend,” Cas says, wobbling on his feet a little.

“Why?” Dean asks with a little laugh to mask that he feels a pang of pain in his chest.

Cas looks at his lips, sighs, then his eyes meet Dean’s.

“Because I’m gay and I’m really very much into you.”

“Oh.” Dean’s heart stumbles.

“I see how that can be a problem,” he says, frowning.

Cas lets out another heavy sigh and tries to step back, but Dean wraps his arm around his waist to keep him at place.

“On the other hand if we were friends, it would be really awkward if I did this.” Dean leans down and presses their lips together.

But Omega!Dean and Alpha!Cas would be so possessive of each other, scenting each other thoroughly before leaving the house, touching and kissing and rubbing against the other so that their smell is all over their mate

(Dean because he’s always still afraid that Cas will up and leave him if some better Omega comes around, and with all that Dean has been taught, he thinks himself undesirable as an Omega. So he tries to mark Cas up till he stinks with it and keeps other Omegas at bay this way (he’s also seen Cas deeply scent his own pulse after Dean’s touched him there, so there’s also that; Cas does keep mentioning how sweet he smells). Cas scents him because he knows that Dean is the most beautiful and most perfect Omega there could ever be and that anyone would consider themselves lucky to have him, so he not only tries to keep the other Alphas away with his scent, but he also wants to remind Dean of himself and the home that they have built and the heart that will always be only Dean’s, and that if Dean so wants to, he should always choose Cas)

I just saw a post saying that, while Sam is Dean’s soulmate, Cas is the “true love Dean chose” and that Dean will always choose free will over destiny. The problem is that this argument can be used far more easily for Wincest. “Screw destiny. Screw it right in the face”. About Sam. “You and Dean chose each other.” To Sam. Spoken, by the way, by Dean’s supposed ‘true love’. “All that matters, all that’s ever mattered, is that we’re together”. Who was Dean talking to? Yep, you guessed it. Sam. Yes, Dean values free will but every time a choice is presented to him, invariably and without exception, he chooses Sam. Sam is not just Dean’s destiny, he’s the choice that Dean keeps freely making every single day. Dean choosing Cas over Sam is pure fanon, with absolutely no canon justification. For things like this to be stated as fact, as though they are in any way consistent with Dean’s character, bothers me greatly.

It Is The East

Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Lawrence, where we lay our scene,
From ancient tradition break to new mutiny,
Where civil love makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two households
A pair of star-cross’d lovers make their decision.

In which Castiel chooses Dean, and will always choose Dean.

July 7 | Cas Appreciation Week | Favorite Relationship | Dean x Cas

Person A is on a balcony while Person B is quoting Shakespeare at them.

Cas stumbled slightly down the alley way, looking for the familiar stained fence. His heart leapt when he finally saw it. Finishing off Gabriel’s bottle of whiskey, Cas carefully set it up against the fence and made a mental note to pick it up in the morning. Cas hoped that Gabe wouldn’t notice the missing bottle from his super secret stash, though Cas wasn’t so sure numerous bottles of alcohol in a sock drawer could be called ‘super secret’ it all seemed rather cliché to him.

A twinge of nervousness suddenly came over Cas; he hadn’t seen Dean in so long. He shook his head. The alcohol he drank must’ve been defective. The whole reason he drank was so he wouldn’t be so nervous. Cursing himself, Castiel started to heave himself over the fence. The wood uncomfortably cut into his hands, but Castiel didn’t care one bit. He couldn’t chicken out. Not now. While Cas didn’t quite have a plan in mind once he got to the other side of this fence, he was sure one would hit him.

Cas had one leg completely over the fence when he lost his grip. He swallowed a yelp of surprise as he came crashing to the grass. He groaned as he slowly sat up. He was off to a great start.

Quietly making his way across the yard, Cas was careful not to tread too close to the pool, not quite trusting his motor abilities after the fence incident. It was a still September night, which was how Cas could heard a sigh, loud and clear. He froze and looked over.

On the small balcony that was attached to Dean’s room, stood Dean himself. Castiel froze, watching Dean’s silhouette lean against the railing, bathed in moonlight. Dean ran a hand through his hair and rested his palm against his cheek. This caused a bit of literature to itch at Cas’ throat.

But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet—er, Dean—is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief…

Cas went to take a step forward, but he instead tripped over a shovel cast aside from raking leaves.

“Who’s there?” Dean called, looking around his yard.

Quickly standing up and brushing the leaves from his hair, Cas said without a second thought, “By a name
I know not how to tell thee who I am:
My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself,
Because it is an enemy to thee;
Had I it written, I would tear the word.”

Cas then made his way into the light provided by the pool light. Castiel grinned as he saw Dean’s face light up, and some of his nerves calmed.

Things I learned from watching 11X01
  • That Cas, my sweet little angel is the most tortured and suffered character on the show, who needs to be wrapped up in a soft blanket with a cup of hot chocolate and donuts in his hands.
  • That Cas will always love Dean no matter what and it’s killing me.
  • That Sam, our precious moose deserves thousand kudos and hugs for that speech about their attitude and codependency. Also, he needs to be cured ASAP!
  • That the two caged archangels most probably will return!!!
  • That there is no romance between Dean and the Darkness. Because:

Dean is angry, pissed at her and wants to send back to where she came from. He knows she is evil and do you think Dean Winchester would fall for her after all of that?

Now, as to her side: she IS interested in him, but I don’t think romantically. She has plans which include Dean. She was described as Femme Fatale. Now, let’s see what this means:

femme fatale (/ˌfæm fəˈtɑːl/ or /ˌfɛm fəˈtɑːl/; French: [fam fatal]) is a stock character of a mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers, often leading them into compromising, dangerous, and deadly situations

Makes sense doesn’t it?

Basically, she is a temptress, who is trying to get Dean in to her trap to use him for something which we do not know about YET!

And if it happens that she will stand between Dean and Cas, Dean will always choose Cas just like he chose him over Crowley!
