Icona Pop will support One Direction on the boy band’s North American tour this summer, the Swedish electropop duo announced Monday.
“We are so thrilled to be joining the One Direction guys on the road this summer and cannot wait to perform our new music in stadiums across America,” said Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo of Icona Pop in a statement.
Last week Icona Pop released a jazzy new single called “Emergency,” following the overwhelming success of 2012’s triple-platinum “I Love It” and their 2013 debut album This Is… Icona Pop.
The tour is will be promoted exclusively by Live Nation with the official title the Honda Civic Tour Presents One Direction On The Road Again. Shows start July 9 at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, with stops in San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, New Jersey and Seattle, before wrapping Sept. 12 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
