I don't follow Marvel much since they love to screw around with anyone with a Spider on their chest, but I just recently found out that Carol and Peter, they're a thing! As in it's not just something in my head and has been officially recognized in some way! My Q to you, do you have any idea where I could start? I wholly support this 100% and I need more of this illustrated crack-cocaine.
The best place to start is with the Ms. Marvel (Vol 2) TPB #6 Ascension. It includes their initial team-ups and when he asked her on a date (as well as my favourite arc of Brian Reed’s entire run — backstory + family drama). Then Ms. Marvel (Vol 2) #47 aka the Spider-Date and Ms. Marvel (Vol 2) #50 — both issues are in the final Ms. Marvel (Vol 2) TPB #9 Best You Can Be. They were both in New Avengers (Vol 1) from Secret Invasion on, issues #48 through the Finale and New Avengers (Vol 2), of which I recommend the early issues but once it got into Fear Itself and AvX etc. I stopped reading so I’m not sure.
Petrol pops up in Spider-Island: Avengers, Avenging Spider-Man #9-10 and Captain Marvel #1, but then Superior Spider-Man happened and… that’s where we are now. So! Handy list:

I’m not sure how cannon this is, especially since Superior Spiderman probably ruined all chances of this ever happening again, but I absolutely adore Carol Danvers and Peter Parker together. They’ve gone on a disastrous date and had some very flirtatious team ups. Venom even indicated that Carol had some feelings for Peter that were deeper than he realized. But now MJ is back and Doc Oc is in Peter’s body and has blown all my hopes and dreams to hell.
Do you think that Kelly Sue's Captain Marvel might have been better received if the first 4 issues featured Peter Parker, Jessica Drew, and Carol Danvers working together(in a classic Three's Company way) against a common enemy. I think that besides Carol, Jessica Drew also had similar feelings for Peter Parker as well. It could have played off each other very well because it would be like the love triangle between Archie Andrews, Betty, and Veronica: Superhero style.
Okay, let’s address the idea first because, to be completely honest, I would READ THE HELL out of a comic featuring Peter Parker, Jessica Drew, and Carol Danvers working together(in a classic Three’s Company way) against a common enemy. I love that. A lot. A four issue mini of Carol and the Spider-People Three’s Company hijinks is GOLDEN (especially since Peter is obviously Chrissy).
Look! Janet’s hoodie thinks this is a great idea.
But that set up does not necessitate a love triangle. I’m imagining a plot summary:
Carol and Jessica’s friendship is sorely tested when they team up with Spider-Man and realize they both have feelings for him. How will they reconcile — and who will Peter choose? Find out in the pages of the CAPTAIN MARVEL Super Special Web of ❤
And it is nothing I want to read. It should be clear I love romance in my comics but I hate the idea of Carol and Jess fighting over a boy. Even my favourite boy in all of comics. If that triangle has to exist at all (which of course it does not, but in another universe where the comic’s life depended on it) I want it to be Jess and Peter vying for Carol (hey, it’s her title, she should be the most important player!!).
Now, to answer the question. First, I think the beginning of your question is its own topic: Do you think that Kelly Sue’s Captain Marvel might have been better received if the first 4 issues featured Peter Parker. Clearly Marvel thought Peter could give Carol a boost since her new look and title and author were introduced in Avenging Spider-Man. That was smart, good business.
But would Kelly Sue’s Captain Marvel been better received if the first 4 issues featured Carol and two other heroes, one of them the brand’s most popular, fighting and flirting together? It might have sold more copies. But I don’t think it would have been better received.
Spider-Man sells more comics but his storylines have been polarizing fans for at least the last ten years (please see uproars related to: Peter joining the Avengers, Civil War, One More Day, movie casting, Miles Morales, Superior Spider-Man, etc). The Three’s Company set up might have caught on but it could also have ended up compared to Twilight. So it depends on what “better received” means.
The first 4 issues of Kelly Sue’s Captain Marvel built the Carol Corps. And the Carol Corps are the most proactively positive group I have ever been a part of in any fandom. I have witnessed firsthand Kelly Sue’s Captain Marvelcreating new readers. This week’s issue of Captain Marvel is literally dedicated to her fans. To me and my daughter. In our house it is the best received comic in the history of the world.
Peter: So Venom…He said he felt your emotions. And they were about me– Carol: Are you going to make this weird? Peter: Not on purpose? Carol: What that thing saw…it’s complicated. But that’s not saying it’s bad. Peter: You like me. Carol: Shut up.
