career victors

Victuuri Week // Day 1 // AU: A Different Career - The Artist & The Barista

I can totally imagine Victor as an artist (wanted to add tattoos, but I suck at drawing, so maybe whenever I get more free time to do them properly) and Yuuri as a drawing hobbyist/barista, one day out of the counter and the poor soul gets the foreigners’ attention. Imagine the kid getting on eros mode lol ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_

I’m so sorry for joining so late, I better run if I want to catch up with everyone.

Edit: The idea was referenced from one of Viria’s drawings. In a rush, I forgot to post it before, thankfully an anon reminded me. I’m so embarrassed ( ´△`)

I colored one of the panels in my Merman&Captain AU manga:D

The whole thing is not uploaded yet, (except some doodle-like pieces in my sideblog.) Anyways, happy Yuuri makes me happy too:) Hope you have a nice day~
YOI Hunger Games AU

surprisingly does not exist yet (considering this fandom’s thirst for angst lol) but here are some things to consider:

  • Yuuri being reaped from the district where it’s basically a death sentence. (Alternatively; he volunteers in place of Yuuko, determined to have his future godchildren grow up with both their parents).
  • Despite his abysmal chances of survival and low self-esteem, Yuuri pushes himself to learn as much as he can. He needs to return home.
  • Victor being from one of the Career districts. He’s been handpicked from the academy and is gifted in combat, even though it’s not something he enjoys. The idea of killing other kids and teenagers leaves him uneasy. He’s never known warmth or affection.
  • Though Yuuri is unassuming, he is kind, smart and driven. Victor notices him as someone to look out for. On the flip side, Yuuri is starstruck by Victor, who is talented and eye-catching in all universes. They have an uneasy unspoken truce, having short conversations interwoven through training.
  • Yuuri tries out an alliance with Phichit & Co, but is quickly separated from them. Victor is the type to strike out on his own. Both boys are hunted by the Career pack; Victor for being a high-profile threat and Yuuri for inadvertently causing the death of two careers. Since they are both alone, they band together.
  • Despite everything, Yuuri feels very safe around Victor. Being around Victor makes him believe in himself. He tells Victor about his family, his likes and his hobbies. He wants to win but acknowledges that his odds of making it to the end are low, so he wants to try and help Victor while he can.
  • They grow closer and more desperate as they scramble to survive, taking turns being reckless and protecting each other. They become very dependent on each other, but can’t bring themselves to care, because it’s one of the only things keeping them sane.
  • Victor has never met anyone like Yuuri, who laughs without malice, who never lets go, who is the only one who’s ever cared about Victor the person. He feels like Yuuri is the only person he can spill himself into, who never makes him feel like he’s not enough. He knows that eventually either he has to die, or he has to kill Yuuri. But he knows in his heart he’s already made his choice.
  • They find Phichit’s body. Yuuri has an anxiety attack and is inconsolable for hours. Victor holds him in his arms as he sleeps, and wonders how Yuuri would take his death when the time comes to it.
  • They kiss. It’s simultaneously the best and worst moment of Victor’s life.
  • When there are three tributes left, Victor insists on finding the last tribute before they run out of strength and supplies. Neither say anything about what they will do if they succeed in killing her, despite the fact that it’s the heaviest thing on their mind.
  • Then there are only two tributes left.

Have you read any fics where Viktor and Yuuri are switched? Sorta like everything is the same except Yuuri is the legend and Viktor is the untapped potential? I'm not sure if I'm making much sense. Sorry.

Thanks for these requests! This is a great AU!

Role Reversal AU

Saudade by AdvisedPanic, Teen, 6.6k
After an injury at the GPS that prevents his 5th consecutive win, Victor vows to return to skating to reclaim his title. Katsuki Yuuri is a ballet danseur who suffered a similar injury years before and made a successful comeback. Yuuri choreographs and coaches Victor through his toughest competitive season yet, but as it will always be, they fall in love along the way. Great role reversal AU!

Strut by Panny, Mature, 15k (WIP)
All Victor had ever wanted was to skate on the same ice as his idol, Yuuri Katsuki, as an equal. All Yuuri wanted was to be a figure skating hermit and ignore the world. Thumbs up!

Constellations (Things You Left Unsaid) by DasWarSchonKaputt, Teen, 28k
Role reversal au, wherein Yuuri is a figure skating legend in the making - mostly made, or so they say - who decides to take a season off at the peak of his career, and Victor is the runaway international student from Russia who joins his university and cons Yuuri into becoming his coach. Definitely recommend!

Victor On Ice by Artdefines06, Gen, 19k (WIP)
Victor Nikiforov won’t be skating this season. What was Yuuri supposed to do now? Must read!

I Want to Skate like Him by IdunAurora, Mature, 27k
At age 27, five time consecutive world figure skating champion Yuuri Katsuki decides to retire. He has barely made it home to Hasetsu before he finds an eager and all too enthusiastic silver-haired Russian on the doorstep of Yu-Topia Akatsuki, demanding Yuuri to coach him. LOVE!

A Sequence for You by wisia, Teen, 4.7k (WIP)
Yuuri Katsuki retired from ice skating without any medals or breaking any records. It’s fine. He couldn’t have made it anyway. So, why was Victor Nikiforov asking him to be his coach? Highly recommend!

Allegro Appassionato! : A Yuri!!! on Ice Role Reversal AU series by Daughter of Vayu (aquaregia), Teen, 11k
There was a man who took the figure skating world by storm. There was a man who toppled the living legend, and was crowned as the Ice Prince. And the man disappeared, no one ever heard from him again. Until a video was posted on YouTube, and Yuri Plisetsky took off to Japan. Great role reversal AU!

On Ice, Yuri!!! by octothorpe, Gen, 4.8k (WIP)
Yuuri Katsuki’s winning routine always involved the following steps: receive the gold medal and bouquet, smile at the cameras, and graciously thank his supporters. Instead of participating in the after-podium charade, he finds himself at emergency step number four: take refuge in a bathroom stall to quell the beginnings of an anxiety attack. Can’t wait for more!

What are your HCs if someone were to find Victor and Yuuri's very raunchy homemade sex tape? Would they be able to look at Yuuri Katsuki the same way again

It takes Yuuri a moment to reconcile the number of alert bubbles on his lock screen with a reason to panic, but when he unlocks his phone and spies the little red bubble with "529″ above the messages icon, a cold hand has gripped him by the diaphragm and begun squeezing a frigid reality into his chest.

With shaking hands, he opens his missed calls—658, what the hell—and skips right to the voice mails that have stuffed his inbox completely full. Beside him, Victor mumbles something about grass into his pillow.

Everybody he’s seemingly ever met has tried to reach him at some point during the night, and their messages are all variations of the same theme.

Yuri on Ice ep 10 thoughts!!

i already thought Yuri on Ice was incredibly well structured, but ep 10 has BLOWN MY FUCKIN MIND omfg. now we know about yuuri’s ~drunken escapades~ we can view the entire damn show in a different light. like:

  • yuuri literally IS the love-’em-and-leave-em playboy in the Eros story?? HE AND VICTOR ARE EVEN POSING TOGETHER IN THE SAME WAY IN THE CREDITS PHOTOS.
  • yuuri was subconsciously dancing his own damn love story.
  • so… when victor was all, “i know you can do this Eros programme, yuuri,” HE KNEW FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE because they’d already ~danced the night away~ together.
  • can u? even? imagine? victor’s internal monologue? every time yuuri nervously said he couldn’t portray Eros and had to imagine a pork cutlet bowl for inspiration??
  • victor! didn’t know!! that yuuri couldn’t remember that night!! LOOK AT HIS DAMN FACE WHEN YUURI SAID HE COULDN’T REMEMBER:
  • so victor has spent almost an ENTIRE YEAR wondering if yuuri is being standoffish or embarrassed or what? which paints the beach scene in an entirely new light.
  • AND ALSO it totally changes the tone of victor’s arrival in Hatetsu! like, his ~flirty behavior originally felt comedic but quite silly and OTT, whereas now… we know he actually arrived on yuuri’s invitation, thanks to a combination of Drunk Dancing Eros Yuuri and the more ~serious and meaningful~ epistolary invitation of the Stay Close To Me video.
  • victor literally came to hatetsu BECAUSE YUURI ASKED HIM TO, effectively leaving his own figure skating career in the dust
  • when victor offered yuuri a commemorative photo, he definitely meant “commemorative” omfg but yuuri assumed victor thought he was a fan… while victor thought he was blanking him. WHAT MIXED SIGNALS!!! i die.
  • also this whole ep is a great depiction of how yuuri is totally convinced that he’s socially isolated, meanwhile the rest of the skating community is like, “let’s have dinner together! remember last year when all of us saw you get drunk and dance in ur underwear?”
  • like, seriously yuuri. you thought victor wouldn’t know who you were, when you were literally in the Grand Prix Final, a competition with only six people in it?
  • victor was jaded and alone at the peak of his career, looking for a new direction in life, when yuuri appeared and turned the formal Grand Prix banquet into a hella fun party and dipped Victor in a ballroom dancing move and then asked for him to be his coach, AND THEN delivered a perfect rendition of victor’s gold medal-winning program… and then proceeded to spend the next 11 months acting like it’s no big deal.

in conclusion: Yuri on Ice is the Pride & Prejudice of our era.

Literally just as I was starting my shift at work today, I had the greatest idea for an AU ever and I had to suffer through my entire shift with this beautiful AU consuming my mind, so here, have a Victuuri rivals!au:

  • At twenty years old, Victor Nikiforov has been at the top of the figure skating world for four straight years, ever since his senior debut, and he is bored out of his skull. Everything is just so easy and there are no worthy rivals to push him to be better, so he’s just kind of standing, stagnant, at the top.
  • And then, in his fifth season, a dark horse appears from Japan, and his name is Yuri Katsuki. He appears from completely out of the blue, with no amateur or junior division experience under his belt, and he sweeps through the ranks at a terrifying pace, snatching the gold medal right from under Victor’s nose at the Grand Prix finals that year.
  • Victor is left stunned and frustrated, and most importantly, excited. Here is a man to push him to be better, to give him inspiration, to be the rival he’s so desperately yearned for these past four years. Victor can no longer afford to stay stagnant if he wants to keep his position at the top.
  • The two rivals fight neck and neck, always vying back and forth for first place. They’re so evenly matched that many in the industry consider them both tied for first place as the most talented figure skaters in the world, despite which of them has the gold that year.
  • The media just loves playing up their rivalry, especially since Victor and Yuri’s encounters always end with chilly stares and barbed taunts thrown at each other with sickeningly sweet false smiles plastered on both their faces. They seem to absolutely loathe each other.
  • The truth is though, Yuri absolutely worships the ground Victor walks on, because Victor had been his role model and his inspiration when he had first started skating, and he was so excited to be able to compete against him when he finally broke into the senior division. But he was so nervous when he met Victor for the first time that he accidentally came off as aloof and downright asshole-ish, and Victor had replied in kind and then the media blew the situation up, declaring that Yuri hated his rival, and so now Yuri feels compelled to pretend like he hates Victor so whenever they meet he puts up this facade, and he’s pretty sure by now that Victor completely hates him.
  • Victor, on the other hand, is sad that his rival hates him because he actually admires Yuri a lot, because Yuri is the only person Victor has acknowledged as being as talented as him, and he is Victor’s inspiration.
  • Then suddenly, Yuri is 23. He makes it to the Grand Prix finals, as expected. And he’s just so excited to face off against his rival and idol again. But just before he’s supposed to perform his free skate program, he gets a call from home. His beloved dog, Vicchan, has died. The news absolutely destroys him. He makes a few too many mistakes in his free skate program. And his stellar performance in the short program the day before can only take him so far. He ends up finishing in fourth, without a medal for the first time in his career. He’s crushed.
  • That year, Victor doesn’t smile as he is presented his gold medal. Because he is angry and disappointed, and the victory leaves a bitter taste in his mouth, without Yuri at his side accepting silver.
  • The two run into each other as they’re leaving to head back to their respective homes, and they get into a one-sided argument that is actually just Victor yelling at Yuri for messing up, for not taking the competition seriously, and Yuri just standing quietly, taking it all. This only makes Victor angrier. Why can’t Yuri just say something? Why won’t he just defend himself?
  • A few months later, rumours start emerging that Katsuki Yuri has retired, and Victor is having absolutely none of that. He books a plane ticket to Japan, shows up at his rival’s home, and ends up being naked for their first ever conversation outside of a competitive setting.
  • Yuri refuses to return to competitive skating, and Victor refuses to go home until Yuri has agreed to not retire.
  • As a result, Victor stays at Yu-topia for something like a week. During that week, he and Yuri get to know each other, and he realizes that his cute rival actually doesn’t hate him and that he actually idolizes him. And that makes Victor really fucking happy. Because, now that they both know they don’t hate each other, obviously that means they’re automatic best friends, right? Yuri is a little hesitant, but eventually he gives in and lets Victor befriend him.
  • Victor also finds out that the reason Yuri did so badly on his free skate program is because he found out that his dog had died, and Victor understands. Because he knows how absolutely heartbreaking it is to lose a dog. And he knows he’d probably have reacted similarly if he’d suddenly found out something had happened to Maccachin.
  • After a long heart-to-heart, and a surprise appearance from a very angry little Yurio, Victor is finally able to convince Yuri not to retire from ice skating.
  • But now, that begs the question. How the hell is Yuri going to find a coach on such short notice? He’d already cut off ties with Celestino, and while he’s sure the man would understand, Yuri is still too ashamed to face him.
  • Victor has the Best Idea Ever™.
  • Yuri is convinced it’s actually a terrible idea. But with Victor assuring him that everything’s going to be okay Yuri-kun, just trust me, he decides to take the leap.
  • And basically, that’s the story of how Yakov gets to his rink one day to find that his top skater, after a week and a half disappearance off the face of the Earth, has dragged home a little Japanese stray.
  • After a few hours of yelling, Yakov agrees to coach Yuri for the upcoming season.

Victor is the Tolkein of biographers: he goes on for like 70 pages about why Yuuri's left middle toe is more charming than the others.

Excerpt from The Brief (So Far!) and Wondrous Life of My Husband, Yuuri Katsuki: Vol. 2, Chapter 54

Yuuri and I did not share a bed together regularly until he moved with me to St. Petersburg.  This was before we were married, back when we were only fiance and fiance–such innocent times.  It was then that I found out about Yuuri Katsuki’s (read: my husband’s) sleeping habits, which I will use this chapter to describe.

Yuuri talks in his sleep.  I’ve been told this, as well as other habits of his, are a byproduct of stress.  Yuuri is stressed mostly due to competition, which is ridiculous, because he is a Grand Prix and World and Olympic champion and is as good as, if not better (much better) than even me.  I keep telling him he needs to stop, but he doesn’t listen, which is fine, because all couples need to have disagreements at some point.  So, he talks in his sleep.  Mostly he speaks in Japanese.  I assume when he’s speaking Japanese he says things truest to his heart, like “I love my husband, Victor Nikiforov” or “I want to eat katsudon off of your chest” (see chapter 13 of volume one where I discuss Yuuri’s love for katsudon).  Sometimes he speaks in English and says things like “I’m going to fight Yurio and then the moon.”  I don’t think it is possible to fight the moon, but I’m sure if Yuuri trained hard enough, he would win.

Yuuri occasionally has trouble falling asleep.  I have tried to help with this condition by exhausting him with my penis.  On occasion it works, and Yuuri will immediately fall asleep after he comes apart under my hands, unravelling around me when I’m inside him, coaxing his orgasm out with sluggish, deep thrusts that make him beg in a way that would betray his public persona.  Unfortunately, sometimes it also only encourages his wakefulness by causing his heart rate to increase, his adrenaline to rush, for which I feel responsible and also terrible.  In these moments, his exquisite, sharply curved, muscular legs will draw restless circles in the bed.  His handsome feet will toe at the backs of my ankles, and his knees will curl into my own like mismatched parenthesis.  It can be very distracting, but then again, I would prefer no other reminder that I am alive than my husband’s naked, sweat-soaked thighs sticking to my own as he shifts behind me, his heartbeat healthy like a drum where his chest meets my back.

(If you could not tell, despite our difference in size, I prefer to be the little spoon, which is wonderful, because Yuuri could also win an Olympic Gold Medal in being the big spoon if there were such an award.  My petition to the IOC is still pending…)

Part 1 of 2 - Katsuki Yuuri’s journey

I have a friend who was somewhat disappointed with the ending of Season 1 of YOI, so I’ve written a full analysis on Yuuri and Victor’s motivations and goals.

It’s lengthy, but I hope it does help some of you feel more satisfied with what happened in Episode 12. Yuuri and Victor will have separate posts.

I absolutely adore the way you write a/b/o! Victor is always simultaneously ridiculous and sweet in it. I've always am curious after reading tho, is Yuri as eager and desperate for Victor's babies as Victor is to have babies with him? Like would Victor worry that Yuri was just swept along with his enthusiasm?

I mean, i always figure that right now Yuri is kind of focused on his career – and Victor is equally as focused on Yuri’s career – but there’s a reason why Yuri gets knocked up approximately five seconds after he officially retires in the Katsudon-hime continuity. Give Him the A Victor Nikiforov Baby Now!!!!!

There’s probably a little worry at first, like, Victor knows he is Extra and also has five pintrest boards of nurseries, but he doesn’t want to pressure Yuri! Then one night, they’re just like chilling with the dog, nobody’s in heat or rut or hormonally interested in reproducing, and Yuri says, not even looking up from his phone, “When I’m retired we should start trying right away. Unless you don’t want to.”

“Trying what?” says Victor.

“For a baby,” says Yuri. “I mean.”

After the white haze of BABYBABYBABY YES LETS MAKE A BABY NOW NOW NOW  clears from Victor’s eyes and he can breathe again, he says, “Do you. Do you want a baby. With me.”

Yuri says, “Yes, of course I do,” like Victor is stupid but he loves him anyway.

“oh,” says Victor, blindsided by how much he wants a baby right now with Yuri. “That’s. That’s good. I want one with you too. A lot.”

“We’ll have a set,” promises Yuri.

Love this account!! It brightens my day!!! I had a keyword request: children Tysm!!!!

Awww, thank you! <3

Keyword Requests!

  • Yuuri is surprisingly great with children. He often babysat the triplets.
  • He’s the sort of person who can stop a baby from crying just by holding it.
  • He just has all around good natural instincts when it comes with babies and children, and is a fast learner when it comes to what the individual needs.
  • Yuuri often jokes that he understands babies better than people… it’s not a joke.
  • Victor is the sort of guy who plays it cool, but the moment you hand him a child, he’s panicking and trying to give it back.
  • Victor is convinced children hate him, mostly because he has had bad luck with very blunt children in the past.
  • Hand Victor a baby, and within five minutes, that baby has either spit up, pooed itself, or been sick, and Victor certainly crying.
  • With Makkachin and their careers, Victor and Yuuri probably wouldn’t think about children for quite some time.
  • The topic finally comes up one day when they’ve both retired and started to think about settling into a calmer lifestyle, curled up together watching Yurio and Minami in their latest exhibition.
  • Victor is probably the one who brings it up, pretty casually, and surprisingly neither of them panic at the thought. Yuuri just sort of casually agrees that it might be nice to think about.
  • It probably takes another year or so of discussions that get more and more serious over time, until finally they apply for adoption.
Does anyone else just wake up with thoughts of Victor?

Like that poor sweet man who just wanted to love our Yuuri and didn’t understand and we all doubted him at times right up until the banquet reveal and now we know he’s just a poor precious baby who is devoted to Yuuri

I have seen meta saying he loves Yuuri more than Yuuri loves him but I don’t think that’s true. Yuuri loves Victor very deeply. He got there slower but he is devoted enough that he was prepared to give up his future career for Victor however misguided that was. He thought he was doing that FOR VICTOR he skated a world record breaking routine to show Victor how much he loves him and how devoted he is to that love (notice Victor may still have been unsure about Yuuri’s skating career but he was sure of Yuuri’s feeling after that skate)

He moved to Russia for Victor.

Yuuri’s anxiety gets in the way of him expressing his love effectively but he really really loves Victor guys. Like so much.

Anyway I still think about YOI too much
