@ffxvweek Day 2 - Carbuncle Keychain for Platinum Demo
Materials: Laser cut acrylic blank, Keychain findings, Oracal Vinyl in White and Silver Metallic
Platinum Demo is wonderfully charming and I loved the little Carbuncle built into the logo. I used that as my base for a Carbuncle silhouette in silver, adjusting the proportions to better fit the blank. Because I could apply vinyl to both sides, I added some little white sparkles for fun. It creates an eye-catching layered effect!
The acrylic itself came from Ponoko, an awesome laser cutting service.
Hello once again, FFXV Fans! I wanted to thank you all so, so much for all of your wonderful comments and tags on my work during this amazing @ffxvweek. In case you missed anything, here is a quick round-up of everything I made for this event -
I’ve put together a survey to more accurately gauge people’s interest in the different items. It should only take a few minutes to fill out and will be invaluable for providing information for me. The survey is done via Google Forms so all the information is secure and will be private - only I will see the responses.
Each item has a minimum requirement for production and it is really important for me to reach those for the shirt designs. To be able to make and sell those, I’ll need to buy a heat press so I have to be sure there is enough interest before making that investment.
So please, if you’ve liked my work this week and you are truly interested in buying it and supporting me, fill out this survey and reblog this post.
The more people who see it, the easier it will be to reach the minimums and the more likely it will be for me to make awesome fan merch for everyone.
Thank you all again, I look forward to seeing where this takes me!
“My name is Sherlock Holmes. It is my business to know what other people do not know.”
I’m just a little obsessed with Sherlock Holmes and I just don’t mean the original stories. I will read and watch almost any other version of the great detective that exists. Even so, I will always hold a special place in my heart for the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Sherlock Holmes is a masterpiece. From A Study in Scarlet to The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, Holmes’ brilliance combine with Watson’s loyalty keep the reader entertained as well as mystified as Holmes solves yet another mystery much to the chagrin of Scotland Yard.
One of my favorite things about this series is that not all the mysteries are about murder. There is blackmail, jewel theft, and even a severed ear delivered to a wealthy woman. Many mystery series that I have read only focus on murder and that quickly grows boring and predictable. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle managed to avoid that downfall along with having a writing style that ages well and remains understandable.
Sherlock Holmes has become iconic as well as an archetype for all modern mystery writers. The phrases “Elementary, my dear Watson.” and “No shit, Sherlock.” need no explanation even to those who have never read and seen any version of the consulting detective. This series even helped start modern day forensic science. Before, it was almost unheard of to leave a crime scene uncontaminated, police would just round up the usual suspects and question until someone confessed. No other book has ever reached the iconic status of Sherlock Holmes and maybe none ever will.
I would suggest this series to anyone to likes mysteries, old books, or the Victorian era.
“Crime is common. Logic is rare. Therefore is it upon the logic rather than upon the crime that you should dwell.”
Just a simple picture of my favorite part in the FFXV Platinum Demo. I thought this part was gorgeous, and I wanted to focus on coloring my backgrounds instead of drawing characters. Nevertheless, it was a nice speed paint ^^
I felt in love with the Platinum Demo because of the colors, the graphics, the dream world, little Noct and Carbuncle (who I named Hyphen).
And I also felt in love with this piece… It happened the ultra rare thing of me looking at it days later and still liked it :O
I tried a new way of coloring here with markers (I usually paint like I paint with oils in real life) since I couldn’t get the color I wanted for my normal style. And I didn’t like the way the line art was looking so I just cleaned the sketch a bit.
And I remembered @porphyrogenneta told me once a lot of interesting facts about the Byzantine empire and their relation to color purple… The color purple being associated with royalty and the facts she told me, I had to put it as BG .
I added my art side blog hyphen1582 as a signature in the work too, please feel free to come and take a look
