car chasing scene

Baby Driver

this movie is flawless and here are some reasons why:

  • the whole soundtrack
  • the entire beginning sequence
  • when Griff (Jon Bernthal) gets in the car during the first heist and points forward and Baby slams it backwards
  • sign language
  • Joe made me so happy?
  • also when he signed “who’s the girl?”
  • Ansel Elgort’s lips? blocked
  • you can hear his tinnitus (ringing sound) when he’s not listening to music
  • you can’t hear his tinnitus when he’s with Deborah
  • when he takes one ear bud out the music shifts to one side
  • Kevin Spacey. just overall. i love him
  • “what the fuck?”
  • when he goes to get coffee and he’s listening to Harlem Shuffle by Bob & Earl you can see the lyrics graffiti-ed on the walls and poles and stuff behind him as he’s walking
  • when Baby is ordering coffee and he goes “yeah yeah yeah” in time with the song
  • Baby reciting back the entire plan and then looking at Bats and going “questions?”
  • “That’s my Baby.” “Fuck yo’ Baby.”
  • the gunshots are perfectly in time with the music during every fight sequence
  • when Buddy cocks Darling’s gun for her
  • Darling’s outfits
  • she’s also rly pretty the fuck
  • Brighton Rock??? What the fuck???? so good I love Queen
  • “And you’re in a pink and sparkly mood?” “I am now.”
  • Every time Baby smirks I wanna punch him
  • the sunglasses scene
  • the scene where he’s running away from the cops is just as intense as the car chase scenes and the gun fights
  • Simon and Garfunkel’s Baby Driver is so catchy fuck
  • “Wait, I have to start the song over.”
  • When he goes into the diner and it starts playing When Something Is Wrong With My Baby
  • Baby singing along to Neat Neat Neat
  • “Now you know I hate taking candy from Baby…”
  • Jamie Foxx’s character was unpredictable, and a little unnerving. He wasn’t like terrifying but there definitely were moments where I wasn’t sure what he was gonna do and it made me nervous
  • side note my dad was peeing when Bats died and when he came back and I told him Baby killed Bats he went “ah, good.”
  • “You took something from me that I love, now you know I gotta do the same to you.” Oh yea for sure he’s gonna shoot Deb- FUCK
  • that part was honestly so good I spent like 5 minutes with my mouth hanging open like fuck you Buddy you can’t take that away from him :’(
  • but it also shows that Buddy really understood Baby and remember that he kinda stood up for Baby and they were bonding a lil with music and stuff it just shows how unpredictable he was
  • I have legitimately been listening to the soundtrack for this movie since I saw it a week ago today
  • his name is Miles
  • if Edgar Wright and James Gunn made a movie together I would die immediately upon entering the theater

don’t worry I’ll see this movie 8937459 more times so expect more of this

i still stand by the fact that the mcu owes me a high speed tony stark civilian car chase scene though. like. peter and tony are chill while tony’s driving. everything’s normal. then shit happens. bad guys are behind them

suddenly the windshield lights up exactly like the suit’s HUD and tony’s issuing commands to FRIDAY and a whole panel of James Bond-type buttons shows up on the dashboard and tony’s like “don’t touch that! this car is a prototype!” exactly two seconds before being like “you know what we’ll call this a test drive” *pushes button* *car exhaust spits out fire and/or repulsor rays*

Notice how the Joker has every reason to be killed by Batman in the DCEU.
We saw Batman kill. He already crossed that line. He doesn’t have the excuse of “it’d be too damned easy.”, he couldn’t make that speech to resurrected Jason, claiming that killing is bad when he did it himself.
And we know he attacked the Joker, he was the one to punch all the teeth out of his mouth for killing Robin, he fucking let him drown in the car chase scene in SS, when he took Harley out of the water and gave her CPR (which implies that Harley wasn’t actually associate in killing Jason, or else Batman wouldn’t save her.) the joker didn’t die right there because he was needed for the plot of one movie (and also he’s a cockroach who won’t die unless you shoot his head.)
Which brings me to the behind the scenes reasoning: people hate the current DCEU joker. In almost every other media the joker is stanned, people LOVE him. He’s so goddamn popular, DC can’t bring themselves to finally kill him.
But here? DCEU Joker is hated. The actor is disliked (to say the least) by his cast members, and the audience, and apparently the movie editors as well. It wouldn’t be a shame if he were to die.

TLDR; Batman kills in the DCEU. The Joker is a hated character. Make it happen, DC!

From last night’s (day’s?) draw party with @mawok @stanchez-sloppy-seconds @professor-cinnamon-roll @beta-19 and @spinetrick .

I was going to draw something based off the Max Max car chase scene in the trailer, but then this happened…

I love that Bellarke saves each other. One is never passive while the other is heroic. They work together to save each other. Always.

Like the S4 car chase scene. Bellamy is ready to shoot the grounder and is waiting for Clarke to give him the opportunity. Knowing she will. And she does. Or when they’re attacked on the way to Becca’s lab and defend each other.

And I love that it’s not treated like it should be any other way. They’re equals, and they respect each other above all else. Respected each other before anything else. And it’s respect that led to their unbreakable trust in each other and everything that’s come from that.

The Types When Writing a Book

INTJ/INFJ: Has an idea for a book. *Ten years of contemplation later* “Okay. I’m ready to start writing.”

ESFP/ESTP: “Eww, writing is for nerds.”

ISTP: Starts writing a book and is torn between realism and bigger and more interesting car chases and fight scenes. Then does a few years of research so they can do both.

ENFP/ENTP/INFP/INTP: *Has an idea for a book* *Starts writing,* “Ooohhh! I have a new idea for a book!” *starts writing* “Ooohhh! I have a new idea for a book!” *Starts writing,*   Etc. Ad infinitum.

ISFP/INFP: Their hero stands stoically for all that is good and pure…then tragically dies.

ENFJ: Starts writing, focuses too hard on characters and not enough on plot, novel falls into dialog hell [Credit to ENFJ-Gryffindor]

“Baby Driver”’s use of color symbolism.  (SPOILERS BIG TIME)

A lot of people are praising the sound design in Baby Driver, which is a technical masterpiece in its own right, but there is also a lot to be praised about the color symbolism and symbolism in general with the character’s actions all throughout the movie.  My head’s been buzzing with all the use of color in this movie, please comment what you noticed which I did not!

 Things I noticed:

When Buddy’s wife Darling mentions “when my husband sees red, black is the last thing you’ll see”, or something along those lines, in the second half of the movie there are a TON of references to that.  In the end car chase scene between Buddy and Baby, after Darling’s death, Buddy clicks into his RED rage.  He literally sees the red from his wife’s blood, turning on his RED rage.  When he is chasing Baby around the parking complex, a red light looms ominously onto his face from inside the stolen police car he is creeping around in.  All throughout that scene he is illuminated with a RED light.  And he plans to make Baby see black from death, but BUDDY HIMSELF dies from falling and sees black for the last time in a twisted ending to his wife’s words.  He dies by falling onto a BLACK CAR, the one that fell off of the parking ramp.  He saw red from rage and died on black from death with more red fire engulfing him.

When Baby is confronting innocent people to get out of a situation, three times the color purple/violet is for sure prevalent in some way.  The second time Baby steals a car from a random stranger to drive away, the black woman with the purse has a PURPLE car.  And the Nice Teller Lady whom Baby stops from entering the back of the building during the final heist attempt was wearing a purple jacket.  The first person that Baby interacts with was wearing a fuchsia/hot pink/purple dressy top. The purple may symbolize the physical manifestation of the calmness, kindness, and good heart Baby has which is entwined with his fast paced passion.  Purple is the combination of red and blue, red being passionate and bold and heated, and blue being peaceful and calm and cool.  So purple in essence is the combination of passion and calmness.  This ties in to the fact that Baby often thinks quickly and passionately during the adrenaline pumping chases, but doesn’t abandon his good nature and heart in those moments, and he takes the time out of his fast paced thinking to slow down and show peaceful kindness and good intentions to those he affects.  He takes the time to calmly address those people he was stealing from or helping out to give them peace of mind and safety, adding a blue nature to the dangerously red situations of those scenes.  Hence the purple similarities in those three instances.  (I also realize that the purple colors may be interpreted as more hot pink or fuchsia in nature, they were all more on the pinker side of violet.)

The similarities between Deb and Baby’s mom are abundant.  They both have golden blonde hair, they both worked at the same diner, and both of them sing.  Along with them both being blonde, the tape recording that Baby made named “MOM” has yellow tape for the label, and I think was either the only tape or one of the few tapes that had colored tape labels.  The yellow and gold associated with his mom and Deb symbolize the beacons of comfort and hope that they both are to Baby.  Deb also wears a golden yellow dress when Baby first sees her, as she is singing angelically.  She is seen as an angelic person through Baby’s eyes, and gold is often associated with divinity/comfort/happiness along with the color white.

Buddy, with his Red Rage, aims to make Baby see black by killing him.  In his rage he targets Deb, someone close to Baby, who happens to be wearing black as a part of her waitress uniform.  The black end result is seen in a different way.  Baby sees someone he loves being the target of maliciousness, and sees black on Buddy’s target, Deb.  Even before Buddy’s Red Rage, the group of criminals targets Baby’s foster dad, who throughout the movie wears dark colored clothing, possibly black/grey clothing.

Within the laundromat that Deb and Baby were hanging out in, in every single machine there was either red, yellow, or blue clothing tumbling about.  Each one had a specific color load too, no laundry machine had mixed colors, only one color was being washed in each machine.  I liked that scene’s aesthetics in particular because the patterned background of the tumbling colors, all moving in unison and with uniform placement, helps the viewer concentrate more on the characters than the surrounding location.  At least that’s the effect it had on me.  Even though the colors were vivid and heavily saturated, it added to and fit in with the popping stylized aesthetics of the movie, so it didn’t feel out of place.  The colors in the room reflected the emotions that they were likely feeling, like red passion/love/interest for each other, a sense of blue peace and calmness stemming from their sweet separation from their chaotic and complex lives, and the yellow glimmer of hope for new possibilities.  And then the end of the scene compliments the romance by zooming in on a laundry machine washing red clothing, with their dancing reflections accented by the red clothing, symbolizing the budding romance.

The instance of Baby’s parents being killed by a head on collision with the back of a truck is echoed back to in the final act of Baby Driver.  His parents died from the collision, which sparked the endless tinnitus and haunting flashbacks of his parents’ death.  His trapped hearing and mind is evident throughout the film, and can be resembled by his constant earbud-plugged ears.  Also from him being trapped and forced further into the crime business.  His trapped self bursts forth in the end and comes full circle when he kills Bats.  He literally kills Bats the same way that his parents died, by ramming into the back of a truck.  When the others scream at him “WHAT THE F*CK DID YOU DO BABY?!?!”, he replies “I moved.” with a cold stare.  That cannot have just a single meaning.  I think that he decided then and there that he had enough, and he meant the words literally and metaphorically.  That he killed a malicious person who caused chaos to others, which symbolized the death of his involvement with the dangerous individuals and their schemes and that he was done.  He moved forward in more ways than one.  And the same action from the beginning of the movie reenacted makes it come full circle.

What else did you guys notice with symbolism and color in “Baby Driver”?  Please comment and share for a fun discussion about how awesome this movie is, or why you didn’t like it!

Two weeks ago, at Raven’s end-of-summer beach party, Clarke made the maybe-mistake of hooking up with one of her closest friends. With, basically, her best friend, if she’s being honest. She’s holding back judgement on whether the encounter was actually a mistake or not until they talk about it, which they’ve yet to do; or until it destroys their friendship, which it has yet to do; or until something more grows from it, which hasn’t happened yet either. The last two weeks haven’t been particularly awkward, but nor has there been a repeat performance of their few hours of passion in Raven’s guest bedroom. Mostly, they just hang out as part of groups.

Then Bellamy invites himself over with a stack of DVDs and enough Chinese for four and Clarke figures, well, at least after tonight she’ll know.

Clarke’s not usually one to let other people, even less pure chance, make major decisions in her life, but this is a delicate situation, and it needs to be treated as such. Would she like to push Bellamy back against the couch cushions, straddle him, and then kiss every single freckle on his unfairly beautiful face? Yes. Would doing so be worth potentially destroying her friendship with the only person she knows she can call any time, day or night? No. And so far he’s given no indication that he thinks of the night at the beach as anything other than a fun, impulsive, one-off between friends.

But then again, neither has she.

This isn’t the first time they’ve spent their Friday night sitting too close together on Clarke’s sofa, his arm around her sometimes and her head on his chest, or his legs stretched out across her legs, but tonight each of these insignificant intimacies leaves her mind racing. Is Bellamy just doing what he always does, because nothing has changed between them? Is this a sign that they’re friends still, just like before? If he were afraid to touch her, that might mean he sees any contact between them as charged with meaning and consequence, an admission that whatever they started at the party isn’t necessarily finished just yet. Maybe, paradoxically, being affectionate is his way of telling her that their friendship is safe, not to be threatened by some sexual tension that might have, once, gotten just a little bit too strong.

Or maybe she’s overthinking all of this by half and the way his arm curls around her waist is exactly what it feels like: a nudging open of the door, a signal of openness, an invitation.

Ninjago S8 Translations

i’ve been watching the trailer a couple of times trying to get used to the new Lloyd design & decided that i might as well do something useful so here are some translations (I only did things that i saw that might’ve been important bc when i first started a lot of things just say food lol):

-Lets start with Lloyd’s suit, the front reads ‘ninja’

and the back ooh the back was a bit tricky, at first i wasn’t sure if his sword read anything but it ended up being ‘Lloyd’ upside down bc hiS SWORD WAS IN THE SHEATH I’M AN IDIOT

This sign that is hanging up in, what I assume to be a museum, looked important so I translated it & it ended up saying ‘lego toys are cool’

The chase scene gives a good view of this sign which just translated to ‘ninjago’

also from the car chase scene was this, Lloyd’s car screen reads ‘ready’ and ‘active’ along with piXAL’S NEW VOICE WHAT’S HAPPENING??

And finally, this text on the parachute of the thief, that someone has said is letters (i have no idea if i’m right or not)

but i thought it was numbers because of this:

the numbers ‘103′ on the front of this persons jacket thingy, but who knows i couldn’t make out the last few characters on the chute anyways so maybe y’all can?

-used ‘ninjago alphabet’ post from @icenxnja
