The Sea Captain

This has probably already been addressed, but I felt the need to put my thoughts down when I noticed this. Okay so, conspiracy theorist that I am, I never really forgot about this little moment:

AKA the moment in Blood Moon Ball where a painting of an old Sea Captain seemingly spoke to Marco. Was it in Marco’s head? Did the painting actually talk? Nefcy said:

Doesn’t tell us much. And after a few seasons and a LOT of plot happenings, there were so many other mysteries to ponder that this one kinda fell to the wayside.

Then this happened:

OKAY. SO.  A FEW THINGS IN RAPID SUCCESSION:

1. Same painting. There are notable differences, but they are can probably be attributed to the first one being part of the background whereas the second is in the foreground and less stylized for the sake of some quick animation. Also, both hanging in Star’s room, so, yeah, same painting.
2. The thing winks after Eclipsa talks to it. It fucking WINKS at her. This means there’s a good chance sentient to some degree. At the very least it responds to voice commands.
3. It also covers up secret tunnels that Eclipsa used to travel through as a kid - 300+ years ago.

So these facts lead to some questions:

  • How far do these tunnels reach? How old are they? How were they constructed and who did the constructing? Who else knows about them?
  • Star’s room can appear wherever she wants it to. Do the tunnels come with her? Does the painting act as a sort of portal entrance different from the ones we’ve seen so far? If Star’s room was on Earth, could she go through the tunnels and come out on Mewni? And could someone do the same in reverse?
  • If the Captain can wink, is it possible he can talk? Did he ACTUALLY talk to Marco after all?
    • If not, could it have been someone on the other side of the painting? If so, why did they care about Marco and the Blood Moon Ball?
  • If I’m right, and the Captain is in fact sentient, WHAT THINGS HAS IT SEEN? WHAT SECRETS DOES IT KNOW?

I know that I’m putting a lot of weight on what is most likely a quick gag or mystery - the two incidents probably aren’t related, and the Blood Moon thing probably won’t ever be fully explained. But those tunnels will almost definitely come up again in the future, and when they do I’ll be waiting and watching for answers to my many, many questions…

I drew 32 versions of Bulma, all are costumes taken from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. I tried my best to put them in chronological order!

These definitely aren’t ALL of Bulma’s outfits, I skipped a bunch just because it’s hard to find full reference, or because I’m tired, or because I didn’t want to.

so as of late ANIMANIACS just got confirmed for a cartoon reboot - these cartoons are really making their way to present day from our childhoods

I mentally swore, seeing there were no panties in my draw suitable to wear to work. I easily shrugged it off as I pulled my ripped jeans. Doing up the waist a velvet voice brought me out of my head war.

“You are wearing panties under those tight jeans?” I turned to see him still reading his book, as if I was only hearing things, when his eyes flashed up I knew he did speak. “Are you?”

“Yes.” I swallowed hard, my voice shaky as I spoke.

“Are you sure about that?” He stated, placing his book down next to him.

“Yes.” I tried to sound convincing, but the flash that glinted through his eyes, told me other wise. I turned away from him to change into the top I choose out.

“So,” his voice was right behind me now. “If I was to do this,” he whispered as his hands found my stomach and travelled one down. “I would find you with panties on?” He asked, as his teeth grazed my ear. No words came out of my mouth, and now he was absolutely sure I was lying to him.

“Not going to defend yourself now?” He hummed against my neck, as he undid the bottom of my jeans and unzipped the fly. “If I find that you are lying to me, I won’t be nice.”

He circled one arm around my body, holding me to his chest, while a hand trailed down my stomach and into my jeans. My breath hitches as I felt his fingers graze my clit.

“Well, well, well, the kitten was lying.” He tutted.

The worst of it, Killian thinks, is that for a moment, he doesn’t recall the man’s face.

He was nothing but a liability, standing between his crew and enough riches to carry him from one day to the next, bleeding out a living until he could sink his hook into the crocodile’s neck. And he doesn’t recognize David’s father at first, because he’d been merely one in the stream, one of the nameless voices that whispers to him late at night, or early in the morning, growing louder and louder, until he’s forced out of bed – and out of the endearingly tight circle of Emma’s arms – to wander along the line where the town meets the sea.

Only now, this one has a name, and the longer and harder he peers down at the drawing, the more familiar he seems. Not only from a hazy memory, but from the set of his brow, the swell of his cheeks, features he sees in the man he now calls his friend, and in the woman he longs to call his wife. And here, in the midnight shadows of the home he shares with her, he holds tight to the incriminating pages, a wisp of the darkness still stirring in his heart suggesting he surrender them to the sea.
