Ohio State University Rowing Hazing Scandal

Obviously it is hard to comment on these situations, since there are few details about what specifically the novice who reported was feeling, beyond being open about reporting these activities as hazing.  However, please be sure to conduct yourselves accordingly, as the NCAA and many states are both cracking down on hazing, while broadening the definition.  Just because no one has complained before, doesn’t mean no one will.  That said, if you think you are in a hazing situation, you should probably start a dialogue with your teammates and coaching staff before going directly to something like an honor board, because often instances of uncomfortable situations can be the product of misunderstanding.  Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself.
