canyon crawler

These are the final creature designs I developed this last semester for an independent study, in which I created an alien world with an alternate atmosphere and presented the creatures as scientific illustrations of newly discovered species, complete with taxonomic names. I suppose you could call them Xenoscientific Illustrations. These are the Canyon Crawler; its name “Supracola echinatus” roughly means “spiny above-dweller”, the Resplendent Quadripede; its name “Rhyncotenuis aquaticus” means “slenderbill found near water”, and the Giant Snap Squid; who’s name “Gastrocephalus pseudoflorans” means “stomach head false-flower”.

I had quite a bit of fun doing them, and I plan on expanding the world they inhabit.
