Good Morning from Scotland

Duncansby Stacks Sunrise by Grant Morris

Via Flickr:
I spent a nice morning shooting the amazing rock formations at Duncansby Head near John O’Groats. It was cold and windy and threatened rain but worth it to get a nice patch of colour in the sky and a nice infusion of warmth as the sun finally rose.

My current camera/lens set up

My question box is filled with questions about what camera/lens I use so I’ll use this to answer them all at once.

anonymous asked:

What kind of lens do you like to use when you photograph landscapes?

I used to only use my Canon 16-35 f/2.8, but recently got the 24-70 and have been in love with that ever since.

I bought a new lens, Canon 16-35 f4 IS, to replace my good old 17-40 f4. I managed to grab a few shots with it in George Square (and Royal Exchange Square) this evening and I must say I’m so impressed. These were taken at near half second exposures and they’re pin sharp even though I was simply holding the camera as normal, no tripod or anything.

It should be added that this is the first anniversary of the terrible evening when an out of control bin lorry drove through George Square behind this big wheel killing 6 people.

Glasgow, Scotland.
