It is useless for me to describe to you how terrible Violet, Klaus, and even Sunny felt in the time that followed. If you have ever lost someone very important to you, then you already know how it feels, and if you haven’t, you cannot possibly imagine it.
It isn’t utility that’s behind his investment in me, nor necessity, nor dependency. This much is clear to me now.. I have earned his respect. I have earned his trust. I have his true friendship. And so he’s going to have mine. And as long as that is true, I cannot imagine what is possible.
It isn’t always easy to admit to yourself that you might be dealing with something you are incapable of handling alone. As someone who still suffers severely from trauma and depression myself, I want you to know I am here for you. We always view these unseen enemies of the mind as something we have to fight by ourselves. But you are not alone. You will never be alone.
Know that there are others out there to help you, and support you. I am so, so proud of you for making it this far, and cannot possibly imagine what you have suffered through. You are alive, you are here.
And you are strong.
I’m pretty sure you didn’t need me or Paps telling you that. But we will anyway. You are loved, anon, no matter where in your life you may be.
The feelings you had for each other grew more and more each day. After that whole situation with Esther attempting to kill her children, everything started to calm down a little. The best part of it was that you and Kol were able to spend more time together.
One thing led to another, meaning you and Kol eventually ended up becoming an item. The hardest part about it was keeping it a secret from Klaus. You and Kol even included Rebekah and Elijah in this lie and thankfully, they both approved from seeing how happy their brother makes you.
Every time Klaus was home, you had to keep your distance from Kol. But man, whenever Klaus left to ‘take care of things’, you would jump in his arms like it was your last day on earth.
You don’t know when you’ll ever tell Klaus and you don’t know if the day will ever come that you’re ready.
The day was spent with Rebekah shopping around in a city just outside of Mystic Falls. You were exhausted, so the first thing you did was brush your teeth and put on your pj’s. Then, you closed out the night watching some TV. You didn’t know where Kol was; you expected he was at The Grill or something having a drink.
Your eyes were getting heavy as you were laid up in bed and just minutes later, you fell asleep.
Klaus comes into your room to tell you that he’ll be back later and not to look for him. He assumed you were awake because he could hear your TV on from down the hall, but you were knocked out cold so you had no idea he was in here. Standing at the edge of the bed, he smiles at you, then plants a kiss on your forehead. “My sweet Y/N.” He whispers, trying not to wake you. No matter how old you get, he’ll always see you as the little daughter he never had.
Kol walks in, assuming Niklaus had already left, but he was wrong. He goes wide eyed seeing him, then tries to quickly walk away with stealth, but his older brother noticed and stops him, using vampire speed to stand face to face with him. “What is your business here, little brother? I don’t suppose your reason is to tuck in Y/N, because I already have.” He says, sounding like a complete smart ass with a huge grin on his face.
Kol just wanted to cuddle in bed with you and maybe even get freaky under the sheets. Luckily, he quickly thought of a believable lie. Sounding as confident as he could so that Klaus doesn’t see through him. “Actually Nik, Miss Y/N happened to borrow one of my movies the other night and I was coming in to ask for it back.” Kol glanced over at you, then looked back at his brother. “But seeing as she’s asleep, I shall ask her tomorrow.”
“Well alright then.” Klaus raises his brows, then walks out of the room.
Kol exhaled from relief, then uses his vampire hearing. He hears Klaus walk out the front door and a minute later, he hears him turn on his car and finally drive off. That’s when Kol found it as the perfect time to be able to have the chance to lay in bed with you. His movement from getting under the covers wakes you enough to notice it’s him.
“Hi love.” You greeted him with your tired, raspy voice.
“Go back to sleep, darling.” Kol said, running his fingers through your hair. You laid on your head on his chest and wrapped an arm around him, then fell back asleep.
Kol was fighting the urge to fall asleep. But, the battle was lost between him and sleep, so he ended up drifting off.
Hours later, the deep sleep that the two of you are having gets disrupted. Klaus comes home to the silence within the walls. Walking by your bedroom, from habit, he glances to look inside since your door was wide opened. He noticed Kol sleeping in your bed and that’s when all hell breaks loose.
“What the bloody hell is going on here!” Klaus shouts with fire in his eyes.
There’s no doubt that it woke the two of you up. Kol wakes up immediately, jumping from fear and you lazily wake up with tired eyes thinking ‘who in the world is shouting at this hour?’
Kol gets off of the bed. “Brother.” He says calmly while putting his hands up in defense. He was hoping the tone in his voice would help Klaus listen to his explanation.
You go wide eyed after finally realizing Klaus caught you and Kol. You sit up in the bed. “W-we can explain.” Your voice grew weak from the guilt that you felt.
Klaus ignores you and immediately shoots a look at his little brother. He vamp speeds towards him, holding his throat up against the wall.
“Care to explain what you’re doing in Y/N’s bed!” He pauses and glances at you, then continues, “my-my daughter’s bed!”
Wow. Hearing Klaus calling you his daughter gave you all kinds of feels. This made you feel even more guilty going behind his back. You didn’t bother getting up to stop Klaus because you know that you can’t stop him once he’s in a rage. So you sat there pouting, letting the guilt eat you alive.
From the corner of your eye, you see a figure walk in and thank goodness, it’s Elijah. Elijah is probably the only person in the world that can calm him down.
“Niklaus.” Elijah says firmly to his brother, the original hybrid.
“Elijah, this is not your fight. Please leave so I can rip our darling brother, Kol in half.” Klaus says. He releases Kol from his choke hold and then immediately stabs him with the nearest object. Klaus digs it deeper and deeper, making Kol at a loss for breath from the pain. You gasped at a distance.
“Nik…p-p-please.” Kol struggles getting the words out of his mouth.
Elijah vampire speeds towards his brothers to separate them. “Stop this childish nonsense at once.” Elijah turns to Klaus and you quickly run over to Kol to make sure he’s okay.
“Now. Please inform me as to why you are so hostile towards Kol?” Elijah asks Niklaus.
“That vile creature we call our brother was making himself cozy in Y/N’s bed!” He pointed at Kol with hatred in his eyes.
“Calm yourself, Niklaus.” Elijah said in a stern tone, holding his brother at his shoulders to calm him.
Since Kol is all healed, you walked over to Klaus to explain yourself and Elijah removed his hands from Klaus. “Klaus please. I know this is hard to take in and I know we are terrible for keeping this from you. But Kol and I have been seeing each other.”
“You what?” Klaus looked shocked.
“Well-” You paused, looking down at your twiddling fingers, then looked back up. You were scared to death to tell him. “-For awhile now actually.” Kol walks over to stand next to you and crosses his arms.
This disgusts Klaus because he knows all of the inhumane things that Kol has done in these 1000 years of existence, which is the reason why he has daggered him all of these times. “This is a joke?” Klaus did a fake devil-ish laugh, which scared you even more.
“Perhaps not.” Kol said.
“No, brother.” Elijah added.
Klaus looks over at Elijah with a puzzled look on his face. “You knew, Elijah? You knew and you kept this from me?”
“Correct.” Elijah responded.
“I-” Klaus says, but Elijah cuts him off.
“-The reasoning for keeping this all a secret is because of this exact reaction.”
You looked down and sighed. This whole thing is just a mess. Now, a part of you wished you had never fallen for Kol and that the two of you merely saw each other as just roommates. But you can’t help who you fall for.
Kol slowly walks up to Klaus. “I’m sorry, Nik. But I love her.” He glances back at you and smiles, but that smile is quickly gone because Klaus darts toward Kol with yellow eyes and his fangs out.
Klaus sinks his fangs into Kol’s neck while Kol screams in pain. You gasp at this sudden action. Klaus pulls away, looking satisfied as ever and that’s when you found the opportunity to comfort Kol.
But instead of accepting your comfort, Kol decided he has had it with Klaus attacking him and tries to have a go at him, but Elijah quickly puts himself in between the two.
“Enough.” Elijah growled.
Seeing the two people you care about the most just breaks your heart, so you immediately run out of the room to sit and cry at the bottom of the stairs. Kol immediately runs after you to comfort you while Elijah handles his stubborn brother.
“Niklaus. You have to be more open minded. For Y/N’s sake.”
“Elijah are you not aware of how reckless our little brother is?” Klaus goes to your balcony to get fresh air, with Elijah following behind him.
“Yes, I am aware. But what you do not see is that your dear Y/N is now a grown woman. She should be free to be with whomever she pleases. Even if it’s Kol, out of all people.”
“If he lays one finger on her hair-” Klaus tightens his grip on top of balcony railing.
“I know. He knows. From what Rebekah & I have witnessed is that he is good to her. She simply tames him. He hasn’t been reckless since.”
“I will not take your word for it until I see the actions myself.”
Out of the blue, Kol walks in, weak from pain, and makes himself present on the balcony. “Brother, please hear me out.” Kol pleaded.
Instead of hearing Kol’s part, Klaus speaks instead. “If you so much break her little heart, I’m going to make you suffer in ways your spoiled, little mind cannot possibly imagine.”
Kol opened his mouth to speak, but Klaus quickly walks away to go and make things right with you.
“It isn’t utility that’s behind his investment in me. Nor necessity, nor dependency. I have earned his respect. I have earned his trust.I have his true friendship, and so he is going to have mine. And as long as that is true, I cannot imagine what is possible.”
I had two
wishes for tonight’s episode. First,
that Oliver and Snoozan break up because, as you all know, I’m super done with
her. Second, that Prometheus not suck
because, as you all know, I’ve been super unimpressed so far. @fanmommer can
confirm these wishes.
I didn’t get wish #1 (just a matter of time kids), but Oliver delivered fantastic
Snoozan shade, so I am satisfied. Wish #2 came true
however. The Big Bad does not suck. He’s
That and a subtle, but meaningful Olicity scene means I am one happy
There are only two times that they meet every cycle, two times that their realms blur at the borders and the rulers walk past each other as one sigil rises where the other one falls. Dusk and dawn are the most precious times of day to Victor, because that’s the only opportunity he has to glimpse the elusive Ruler of Night.
The boundary separating them is not one that is easily described. No land can be night and day at the same time, no land can host them both together. So Victor waits for the moments that he throws the Sun into the heavens and the moments he calls it back to earth, for that is the only time that Night and Day blur and they can be together.
SHOUT OUT to all them POC queer girls…..like y'all must have it real fucking rough. Cause you get shit for being female, you get shit for being POC, you get shit for being LGBT. So this is a shout out to all of you. You are real and you are valid. I love all of you cause I cannot possibly imagine the struggle you all go through.
It isn’t utility that’s behind his investment in me, nor necessity, nor dependency. I understand your fear of Flint’s motive, but this much is clear to me now, I have earned his respect. After all the tragedies that man has suffered, the loss of Thomas, the events of Charles Town… I have earned his trust. I have his true friendship, and so he’s going to have mine. And as long as that is true, I cannot imagine what is possible.
The people from 1000 years ago could not possibly predict how advanced our society is, how it functions, the luxuries we have. All the good in the world we have today is thanks to the people of the past collectively allowing us their information.
Humans work together to create the marvels of the world. No one person could possibly achieve the world we have today, and if we continue to collectivize, and allow all access to information and education, we can create worlds even we cannot possibly imagine, for the people of the future.
Just because we cannot reap the fruits of our labor entirely, the future generations may be able to.
Sherlolly Appreciation Week, Day 5- The Abominable Bride
Hello again! I was kind of excited to try this theme because I actually never wrote anything at all to do with TAB since it aired over a year ago. Tbh, I wasn’t terribly inspired by it at the time. But that’s another story lol. Now I was happy to try! So although this isn’t technically canon, it also doesn’t conflict with the canon of that episode. It could certainly fit if you’d like it to…I know I would. :))
A War He Must Lose
The deep echo of Sherlock’s voice in the back alley caused the small woman to halt and slowly turn. Once she was facing him, he could see the fear in her eyes. It occurred to him that she was afraid of him and that cut him deeply.
“Suppose I’m not anymore,” she said bitterly. “You’ve come to stop me, I assume?”
“I have,” Sherlock admitted.
She nodded. “And is the whole of Scotland Yard out front then? Waiting to take me away?” she asked through grit teeth.
Sherlock approached her slowly, again noting her trepidation. “No, Molly.”
Her lips parted in momentary shock. “Y-you know…you remember.”
“Of course I remember, yes. Do you really expect that I wouldn’t recognize a childhood schoolmate who happened to have the same last name and unmistakable eyes as a rather short and slight, but supposedly male, doctor at Bart’s hospital?” He raised a brow.
Is it possible to have a planet without a certain kind of environment? Like a world without tundra or deserts?
In a word: Absolutely!
In many, many more words (and a picture):
You have several options here. The first and most obvious one is simply this: Do whatever the hell you want. If you want your world to have never seen snow, then go for it! No rainforests? Be my guest!
But since you’re asking about possibilities, I’m assuming you want something more scientific than that. And I’m always happy to oblige.
Let’s establish something that is important to keep in mind when discussing fictional non-Earth worlds:
We know how Earth works and how it supports life. We know how other real single-biome planets work that do not support life. But we can’t know everything about things we haven’t discovered. Since our life is the only kind we know, it might be possible that somewhere out there, a planet that we cannot imagine living on actually does manage to support life. Extra-terrestrial life could potentially work in a variety of different ways, as could ecosystems and atmospheres and all other planetary components.
This can be less flexible if you’re talking about sticking humans onto other worlds. We know that humans need certain things to live (water, oxygen, etc.), so if you’re taking humans as we know them, then you’ll need to write a world that is prepared to support them.
So…how would you write a biome out of a world in order to support life as we know it?
There are several ways you can do this, as long as you remember that the key to any ecosystem is balance. Part of the problem with single-biome worlds supporting life is that they don’t offer any type of balance. Not enough plant life means not enough oxygen, too much flora with too little fauna might mean too much oxygen. So if you nix a specific biome (let’s say we kill off the hottest biomes, deserts and rainforests), then you need to make sure you give a sufficient placeholder. (i.e. If you erase a rainforest and replace it with nothing but dirt, then you have eliminated a potentially vital source of oxygen from the planet, thus upsetting the balance.)
Wait, so how do you kill off the equator-biomes of Earth?
Let’s imagine a planet:
The axis doesn’t tilt. This does several things, but it would most prominently: - eliminate seasons - isolate climates/environments/biomes
Here, you’ve got a planet that’s probably much farther from it’s sun than Earth is from Sol. Or it is orbiting a much cooler star. Either way, you’ve got to deal with the fact that the sun will always be hitting each part of the planet with the exact same intensity. You can place it closer, if you want, and have an uninhabitable equator and people only living on the poles, where the sun doesn’t shine so intensely (but you NEVER have nights!).
And there, you’ve given yourself an environment that could possibly kiss hot climates good-bye. This offers a chance for global balance (though individual cities and countries might not feel that balance). You can place water anywhere you like, just remember that it’s basically required.
How you decide to balance the eco-system of your world is up to you, but just based on the basic elements of how Earth’s biomes are created, how seasons and climates affect one another and change over time, you can do a lot to manipulate the characteristics of a new world.
And also notice that in this physical planet/climate/biome manipulation, we’ve created some really interesting culture possibilities just by default.
John had been on his way to pick up his suit from the dry cleaners when he’d gotten Sherlock’s text, summoning him, at once, to Baker Street. He dashed up the stairs and burst into the flat to find Sherlock pacing the room, looking rather distressed.
“What is it? What is going on?” he asked, breathless.
“I’m going to do it, I am going to propose to Y/N tonight,” he said.
“Oh?”John said, still trying to figure out why he had just run across town for this. “That’s good news.”
“No, it’s terrible news,” Sherlock said, resuming his pacing.
“Oh?” John said again.
“Yes, I haven’t gotten a clue as to what I am going to say,” he explained. “And I had hoped to get your advice, however, you only seem capable of uttering the word ‘Oh?’”
“Well, ‘will you marry me’ usually works,” John shrugged.
“Oh come now, I can’t do something as boring as that,” Sherlock sneered. “Y/N is perfection, she is everything, she is my other half–my better half. She deserves a proposal of epic magnitude.”
“Well it sounds as if you’ve gotten it half written right there,”John pointed out. “Start with that.” Sherlock cocked his head a little and glanced up and to the right while he mulled over what John had said.
“Y/N, you are perfection,” Sherlock started. “You are my everything. You are my better half…”
“You’ve shown me what it means to love and be loved?” John offered.
“Oh, that’s quite good, yes…” Sherlock said, a small smile crossing his lips. “You have shown me what it is to love and be loved in return. You’ve changed my life in almost every way possible…”
“… and I can’t imagine a single day without you by my side…” John continued.
“Perfect!” Sherlock exclaimed. “Then I take out the ring–”
“Wait, there is a ring?” John exclaimed.
“Of course there is a ring, John,” Sherlock said, looking at his friend as if he had lost his mind. “Haven’t you ever proposed before? It’s no good if there is no ring.”
“Right, of course, what was I thinking,” John muttered sarcastically. “Are we good here then?”
“Almost, let’s just have one more run through, shall we?” Sherlock said, looking around. “Here, you sit here and pretend to be Y/N.”
“Nope,” John said, turning to leave.
“Please, John,” Sherlock begged, “I want it to be perfect. Do it for Y/N.” John stopped in his tracks and remembered how nervous he’d been when he’d been ready to propose to Mary. He also remembered how much he had wished Sherlock had been there, to help him through the ordeal and to share in his excitement. With a sigh, he turned back and took a seat in the chair.
“Fine, let’s get this over with,” he said, placing a hand on each knee and trying not to fidget around uncomfortably. Sherlock cleared his throat.
“Y/N, you are perfection. You are my everything. You are my better half. You have shown me what it means to love and be loved in return. You have changed my life in almost every way possible and I cannot imagine a single day without you by my side…” He paused here and produced the velvet ring box from the pocket of his suit jacket. He opened the lid and held it out in front of him before slowly dropping down to one knee. “I love you more and more each day. Will you marry me?” John looked at the ring for a moment then back to Sherlock.
“I knew it,” a voice said from the doorway. Both men snapped their heads up to see Y/N, standing in the door frame, her eyes wide, a horrified look on her face. “I knew there was something up with you two.”
“This is NOT what it looks like, I swear!” John exclaimed, jumping up. He looked back at Sherlock. “Say something!” he hissed to his friend. Again, Sherlock cleared his throat.
“Y/N… you are perfection……”

Picking up hitchhikers is dangerous, or so I’ve been told. Women
in particular are warned to be cautious of strangers asking for a ride. I am a
small lady, no more than five feet tall. I should be more careful. I have more
to worry about than myself after all.
But when I saw the shivering couple on the corner, the soft
snowflakes landing on their ragged clothes, I could not help myself. I ordered
my driver to pull over and opened the door.
