What to Do if Witchcraft Drains You

Witchcraft requires summoning and manipulating energy. It takes a lot of work. As a result, sometimes spellwork can end up tiring people mentally, emotionally, or physically. If you find yourself drained after a spell, you can do many things:

  1. Eat something sugary, carbs, or fruit. This runs along the same vein as a nurse advising you to eat sugar after drawing blood: The sugar will reenergize you.
  2. Drink tea or water. Stay hydrated! even when not casting spells. In general, oolongs, blacks, and fruity teas can help energize you, whereas green teas and herbals (especially lavender, chamomile, mints and rose) can relax you.
  3. Light your favorite incense or candle. Frankincense, sage, cedar, dragon’s blood, patchouli, cinnamon, pine, and sandalwood are good cleansing and promoting positive energy. Or, light your favorite scent–it’ll automatically calm and re-energize you.
  4. Carry a stone with you. Amethyst, citrine, obsidian, rose quartz, lapis lazuli, jade, and hematite are good considerations for re-energizing and healing spiritual energy.
  5. …or, carry another special item with you! If you have a special pendant, prayer beads, necklace or other item that means a lot to you and comforts you, it can help restore your energy just by being in your presence.
  6. Take a bath or shower
  7. Take a walk out in nature. Even though you may not feel like working out, exercising can actually energize you rather than deplete you. You can absorb nature’s energies to replenish yours, too.
  8. Take a nap, or get a good night’s sleep. If you want an extra boost, place a healing stone under your pillow to recharge you while you sleep.
  9. Watch a funny movie or video, or read a good book. It’ll relax you, take your mind off your drained feeling, and correct any “off” feelings you may have.
  10. Work on something else that requires minimal energy. This could be crafting, knitting, watering your plants, or even doing your homework. Getting back into the groove of things will help reset your energy and stabilize you for daily life.
  11. Friends! If calling a friend or socializing will relax you, go for it! It’ll make you happier, too.

I hope you may rest well, take care of yourself and have a blessed path! (◕‿◕✿) Sincerely, a witch who’s exhausted after performing spells for four hours.

Spell: You Mean Nothing to Me

You Mean Nothing to Me

Use: This spell is used to rid yourself of unwanted feelings towards a person. These could be any feelings; anger, hurt, lust, or sadness etc. This is especially useful if you still have to see/maintain a front with this person. It is not a curse or a binding spell, it only effects your feelings.

Timing: I’m a firm believer that you should spell work whenever it’s best for you, but a Waning Moon at Sunset would boost this.

Supplies:

  • A black candle for banishing the unwanted feelings
  • A white candle for protection against further feelings
  • A black marker/sharpie
  • A picture of the person or a piece of paper to write their name on
  • Cauldron or a fire safe dish

Steps:

  1. Set up, delicate space/cast a circle, and light the candles.
  2. Write the person’s name on the paper (full name or whatever you call them. You can skip this if you’re using a picture.)
  3. Cover their name or face with a sigil or words like ‘I feel nothing towards you,’ ‘you mean nothing to me,’ ‘I don’t hate/love/care for you’ etc or whatever feels right to you.
  4. Now take the marker and start to cross out their name or picture. Scribble, ruin the marker if you gotta, put all those feelings into it. As you do this, say; “I feel nothing for you, you mean nothing to me, I don’t (add your own feelings and make it your own)..” Imagine yourself blacking out all those feelings as you cover their picture or name completely.
  5. Roll up the picture or paper. Light one end with the black candle and say, “I rid myself of feelings from the past and reduce them to ash.” Light the other end with the white candle and say, “Never again will these feelings return, You’ll mean nothing to me once this paper has burned. So mote it be!” ((If you can’t burn you can rip it up with your hands and dispose of it in the trash instead. Feel free to change up the words to whatever feels best to you.))
  6. Place the burning paper in a safe pace or ball up the ripped pieces. Do some reflecting, meditation, and let all those feelings go once and for all.
  7. Once you’re done and the fire is safely out, blow/pinch out the candles, close the circle, and give thanks to any spirits or deities you might have included. Throw away whatever is left of the picture or paper because that person is no different than trash to you now.

To reinforce: If you have to see this person, or if memories start to come back to you, just remember this spell and use it like a little shield you can mentally/emotionally place between you and the person that has brought you these unwanted feelings.

Best of luck to the Anon that requested this!

  • Slytherin: You do that anyway.
  • Ravenclaw: Yeah, but now there's aesthetic.

Inexpensive Witch Items for your craft #1

This will be my first post on places to get inexpensive items for you!

DOLLAR TREE!!! I can not explain my love for this store to be honest. Now it may be an obvious store for budget friendly people but I know many people may not think about going there for items for your altar, spells, etc but it is my go to place for all of my items! I will list below all of my favorite items you can get from there! Also they always get in new items all the time so I go quite frequently to see what I can pick up! And of course everything is $1 so to be honest it can’t get any better than that!

SALTS: 2lb boxes of sea salt, regular table salt, and they will even sometimes have pink Himalayan sea salt! Do I even have to mention why this is useful? Well I will anyway! Salt is like the boss of protection and purification. Use it in baths, spells, throw it around the house to keep negative things out, use it when you cast circles, etc. Salt is the bomb I my opinion. And why not get a huge box of it for $1?

SPICES AND HERBS: they have amazing spices to be honest. (Not just to use for cooking which I do) but they have cinnamon, parsley, ground sage, Basil, oregano, ground cloves, All spice, Ginger, etc. You can use these in jar spells, dream sachets, cooking spells, etc. They are fantastic especially for beginner witches who don’t want to spend tons on dried herbs or can’t find them locally outside in the wild or like those who live in a big city far from lots of nature where it’s hard to grow them yourself… Or for those who don’t have as much of a green thumb!

CANDLES!!! : THIS is one of my favorite sections at the dollar tree. You can probably get a better deal for bulk tea light candles somewhere else like Walmart but the dollar tree has amazing tall pillar candles, Scented candles, cute jar candles, Mason jar candles which obviously you can re-use for spells or storage! They have candles in different colors as well! For those who don’t like much flame they have great battery operated candles as well!

GLASS CONTAINERS AND JARS: THEY HAVE SO MANY GLASS OPTIONS! I love finding glass bowls, jars, vases, cups, etc you name it. All can be used for your altar for decor, spell work, collecting water, mixing stuff in, and anything else your little witchy heart desires to use for a glass container!

FOOD ITEMS: *PLEASE be aware to look at expiration dates and read labels. In my experience I’ve had no negative ones as of yet and I’m very sensitive to food and such* I Love getting my baking soda, sugar for offerings or spell jars, candies for offerings, sweets for the fae, jelly (I love their preserves they are delicious! The strawberry and raspberry ones are a house staple), Crackers, unsweetened apple sauce (it’s fantastic), teas (LOVEEEE THE TEAS they have fruit teas, camomile tea, green tea, black tea, and more) these are fabulous to use in spell work or just to drink, and mainly anything a kitchen witch or just a witch in general wants to use for offerings. *I do not advise on getting any meat or dairy products for obvious reasons. Though their vegan spring rolls are my go-to and the dark chocolate covered banana slices are also amazing in the freezer section along with their frozen fruit and vegetables I always make sure to get the ones grown in the USA. * Fruit infuser tumbler cups! Need I say more?

CRAFT SUPPLIES: GLITTER, PENS, PENCILS, STICKERS, TAPE, FLORAL WIRE, FAKE FLOWERS, WREATH WIRE, FLORAL FOAM, WOODEN DOWELS, GLUE, ROCKS, SHELLS, SAND, YOU NAME IT ITS ALL THERE!!!! Anything you could possibly need for your journal, spell books, spells, etc. Everything is there!

BATH SUPPLIES: GLAMOUR, RESTORATING, AND SELF LOVE BATHS HELLO! they sell Epsom salt, good bubble baths, bath loofas, scrubs, soaps, anything your heart would want for a bath spell! I love getting my favorite brown sugar vanilla bath soap mix it with some Epsom salt and sea salt throw in some green or black tea and have myself a self love and clearing bath!

There are a lot more wonderful things that can be found at your local dollar tree! Those are all the top categories that came to my mind. Next blog post will be on online websites that have inexpensive things for my lovely witches out there! Sending blessings to you all!

Energy work candle technique:

This is a basic energy work practice technique i developed to help familiarize yourself with the way certain emotions and feelings look when doing energy work/out of body work. -J

  1. Start by getting in a comfortable position to meditate in. Relax and do what ever you do to reach a meditative/trance state so you can go out of body and/or visualize a white candle burning in front of you. There should be nothing else around you almost like you’re in a void. I call this place my astral void space.
  2. Really “see” and feel every part of this candle from the warmth it’s giving off to the way the wax feels. Hold it in your hands, or watch it in front of you. Do anything with the candle that will give you a good feel for its resting energy/base energy.
  3. Then inside yourself bring up a strong emotion you can easily conjure up. feel it rise inside you and let the emotion and all the feelings it brings wash over you. Then project the energy/feeling from the emotion onto the candle to notice how it changes. Feel the way the warmth from the flame, the color of the light, the color of the wax change in front of your from your emotions.
  4. Repeat step 3 with different emotions and sensations to see the way it changes the candle in your mind’s eye. Go back and forth between emotions and feelings to see if there is consistency in the way you see/perceive different energies.

For example:

  • The way my candle changes for feelings of being sad is the candle turns to a navy blue in color and the energy it gives off looks like a thin web of color. the candle light gives off a light blue glow and is very dim.
  • A happy excited energy is a mellow yellow color with a large flickering flame. The candle wax looks translucent letting the light from the flame pass through it.

This is a cool technique Ive learned to help me “see” energies better. especially when comes to seeing auras.

Sweet Talkin’

This spell comes from the idea of “sweet talking” in order to achieve a goal. It works a lot like a honey jar which I have a post about if you’re interested in the history/how to make them. The sugar and honey act to “sweeten” your speech convincing the candle/spirit to work for you.

For this spell you will need:

1) Honey (or any other liquid sweetener ex. agave, syrup, molasses, etc)

2) Sugar

3) Something to mix with

4) A bowl or cup

5) Candle of your choice

What you’re going to do is mix the honey and sugar until it makes a paste. It should be pretty thick and not too runny. Then, using a candle you have already put your intention into your going to smear some of the honey onto it. Be careful not to overcoat it as this can cause fires/uneven burning. With the rest of the honey you’re going to put it on your tongue (DO NOT SWALLOW YET) and “sweet talk” the candle. Tell it what you want it to do, when it will be done and how. After you have said everything you wanted to say light the candle and swallow the honey mixture.

This spell can be used for money, love, or anything else really. I have had amazing results using this for money and have noticed this spell always works fast when I’m in a hurry.

Additional ingredients can be added of course, for example when using this spell for money I usually use cinnamon (powdered) and bank dirt (I have a post on this!) Happy casting!

A Spell for Blessing Others

Sometimes we want to use our craft to help others. Whether we wish to ease their troubles, alleviate their fears, or just wish them well. Here is a simple spell that will allow you to bless individuals or groups.

You will need
1. One large candle
2. Three smaller candles
3. Three colours of thread or cord (yellow, blue, and green)
4. A plate

Preparation
If it is part of your practice, cast a circle. As you sit with your ingredients before you, centre yourself. Ground yourself in the present moment by focusing on your breath, the sensations of your body, and your connection to the earth.

Casting
To begin, set the large candle on the plate. This candle will represent the person or group you are blessing. Next, take the three smaller candles and place them against the sides of the larger candle at equal distance from each other–like the points of a triangle surrounding the centre candle. The first candle will represent wisdom, the second healing, and the third abundance.

Next, take the yellow thread, wrap it about the candles (securing the smaller ones to the large one), and tie it with a knot. Then take the blue thread and secure it around the candles as you did the yellow. Finish with the green thread in the same manner.

Next, light the centre candle and reflect on all the blessings this person/group has brought into your life. Repeat the following aloud and with intent (for the chants insert the person or group’s name along with appropriate pronouns):

[Name] you have brought me
Innumerable blessings
You have filled my life
And I repay this grace

Now, light the three smaller candles and repeat the following with intention and love:

Goddess three
Let this be
From my love
Wisdom above
All other gifts

Goddess three
Let this be
From my heart
This impart
Healing [pronoun]

Goddess three
Let this be
May [pronoun] sense
Abundance
From my wish

Take a slow, deep breath, gathering all your good will, wishes, and hopes for this person/group. Then release the breath, blowing out the candles. Picture the blessing speeding out from the flames to the person/persons.

Notes
Yellow: the colour associated with the element of air and with wisdom
Blue: the colour associated with the element of the water and with healing
Green: the colour associated with the element of earth and with abundance

What to use when in Witchcraft -

Ok so I am gonna say this is my personal reference, its mainly through associations. You might TOTALLY disagree and thats chill!

Its more something to think about and a guideline of what I use myself…

Candle Magic:

Carve a candle when…. the candle represents the target, in sympathetic magic. When, essentially, the candle is a poppet and lighting it is a symbol of destruction or empowerment to the target.

Place something under the candle or before it when… you are doing general candle magic, when the candle represents empowering a wish, idea or concept.

Anoint the candle when… doing work with spirits and gods, when you mark the candle for a special purpose, when doing high magic.

Herbs and plant work:

Use dry herbs when… it is convienent to do so, when the herbs are out of season or when you need to store them in a jar or bottle for a long time.

Use fresh herbs when… the spell is very earth orientated, when doing magic on behalf of another or when the magic is sympathetic so that the herbs represent the target, within kitchen witchery.

Use flowers when… when the spell concerns love and sex, or perhaps fertility and attraction, due to flowers being the reproductive parts of the plant.

Use fruit when when… working with children as a target, or with children practising. When you work with fertility and abundance spells.

Use wood and twigs when… when the spell is for protection or binding, for hardiness.

Burn herbs (recaning/incense) when… you wish to cleanse or banish, or invoke an atmosphere - that being, for divination using herbs that are said to open up your perceptions, when banishing, burning acrid or pungent herbs.

Use oil infusions when… you wish to anoint something, when you wish to mark something permanently.

Use floral waters (rose water etc) when… dealing with spirits and gods, for glamour as it has a long history of being used to beautify.

Crystals:

Use metals (haematite, copper, ores etc..) when… you work in protection, when you do energy work due to the conductive properties of metal.

Use shell, pearl, coral and such when… you work in sea magic, when you work within emotional magic due to the element of water.

Use points when… you wish to direct magic to a target.

Use tumble stones when… you wish the magic to be gentle or manifest at a certain place on the body on a target.

Use geodes when… you work in protection, when you work with glamour aimed to obscure and hide.

Knot magic:

Use cotton when… it is convenient.

Use silk when… doing spells that benefit the target.

Use ribbons when… love spells and wealth spells, as well as confidence and beauty spells. Spells to ensure victory.

Use rope when… doing spells that aim to hurt or weaken the target, binding especially.

Poppets:

Use cloth when… the spell aims to benefit who the poppet represents, use particular care when sewing or cutting, choose colours that are appropriate to them.

Use wax when… you wish to manipulate the target.

Use clay when… wish to create fetches or servitors, when you wish to create permanency.

Use twigs when… you wish to bury or throw the poppet out, when you want the poppet to be easily destroyed by breaking or setting on fire.

Sigils:

Use an alphabet grid or circle when… you wish the sigil to be more random and less attached to you.

Combine the shapes of letters from a sentence… when your sigil is very specific and a short term goal.

Use your own personal symbols when… you want the magic to be connected to you, when it is personal.

A Detailed List of Candles

I thought I would type up an extremely detailed list of candles today.

Most of these things have come from Kitchen Witchery by Marilyn F. Daniel, but then I have continued to add on as I’ve continued my path. I highly recommend the book if you are pagan or Wiccan.

I am going to leave out colors like gold, silver, and copper. I feel like those are very self explanatory. If they’re not reblog and I’ll type up another detailed list.

Now on to candle shape

Multiple day candles

Seven day candles! These candles are often called vigil or prayer candles. You can go to your local Botanica and buy some or you can order them.

Traditional these candles are prayed over and burned sequentially through out seven days. They are typically one shade, so use the list above to determine what you need it for. These candles are often dressed (anointed), by being removed from the glass and being carved, being drilled into, through the wax, and being stuffed full of herbs. They also sell different sizes of these candles, like an 128 hour candle. If you have a working deity like for example Hecate, you can then buy one of these monstrous candles and dedicate it to her, and save yourself some money. Don’t worry she’ll approve of the usage, but you can also find these candles with the name of the Orisha or a specific condition you wish to bring about. These candles also come as dressed or undress spell candles. You can by a vigil candle call Follow me boy/girl! or Lucky 7/ 7/11 candles, and etc. There are so many out and to truly write about each one deserves a separate post.

Then there is the famous seven or nine knobbed candle. These candles are often dressed and then prayed over for the amount of knobs there are. (If there is nine knobs then you burn a knob a day).

Figurine Candles

Adam and Eve/Lady and Gentleman  candles

These candles are simple suppose to be representative of a person. If you typically make wax poppets, I highly recommend being a lady and gentleman candle or the Adam and Eve candles. The only difference is one group is naked and the other is fully clothed. These are candles used when the spell is suppose to target a person or yourself. Carve your name/persons name on the bottom, and dress the candles. These candles come in a variety of shades, so again use the list above when selecting a candle. Two of these candles (same gender or opposite gender) can be tied together and burned to make two parties fall in love with each other. You can also burn each candle bit by bit to bring two people together, as you move the candles together in a line towards each other.

Bride and Groom candles

These candles are designed to be used in relationship work. Blue can be used to smooth out any relationships, black for cursing and serration work, red for passion and love, pink for fidelity and love, white for marriage, spirituality, and new beginnings for a couple. I do not know when they began to sell these candles, but there are also Bride and Bride candles, and Groom and Groom candles! If you can not find one of these candles either use an Adam/Gentleman with an Eve/Lady, Eve/Lady with an Eve/Lady, or an Adam/Gentleman with an Adam/Gentleman candle for the relationship work. Just burn them side by side. I recommend using the Lady and Gentlemen candles for this purpose.

Lover Candle and Heart Candle

These candles are mainly used in love magick. Lover candles are often used to instill passion, and Heart candles can be used in all forms of magickal love working!

Divorce Figurine Candle

Pretty self explanatory. Used to end a relationship between two parties, but also can be used to end a relationship that you are end. If one party is unwilling to move you can burn a divorce figurine (to remove them physically) and preform a cord cutting (getting rid of their emotional and spiritual connection to you) to get them out of your life. I would like to note, that if you are reading this and are in abusive relationship and think about preforming one of these spell, please reach out to those around you and call the police, and head to your friends house or local woman’s shelter. They have resources to help you deal with the abuse. Magick can help us in so many ways, but we must be the active parties to help ourselves.

Gargoyle Candle

Used for protection and I often use this candle to work with my protective spirit friends. I often have a giggle when I order this candle. I order this candle from Lucky Mojo and they have it labeled with “Gothic Cuteness”. I love that company!

Two tone candles

These candles often have two types of wax, and typically deal with removal of a curse. You will see these sold as double action or reversal. You have red and black (reversal or send back to sender), green and black (removal of a money jinx), and red and black (removal of love jinx).

Master Candle or Master Hand Candle

These are extremely powerful candles. These bring about conditions, and are unforgiving. Make sure to be careful for what you use them for. They come in many different shades, so refer to the list of colors above when choosing one.

I don’t necessarily uses all of these candles, but as the saying in my group goes. Knowledge is a witch’s truest power, because if we understand we can move and bend what stand in our way.

I don’t remember where most of this information as comes from since it is coming out of my spell book. A lot of this information as been passed from mouth to mouth and passed on to me. I hope this helps everyone move forward in their craft or at least I hope it provides a good read!

DEITIES

Whomever your deity may be, you may want to make an altar for them. You may not be able to have a full altar with crystals, proper offerings, candles and such all over it but none of that is truely needed! little things can be made into altars or maybe a dedicated space! As long as your belief and prayers go to your deity thats all that matters! your deity understands! Example: say your deity is Athena! You may not have a statue of her but you can maybe put up a couple of flowers in a cup or a stuffed owl on a shelf and tell her that its for her! the way you do your craft is totally yours!

-Offerings can be the hard part. My deity is Abnoba, a Celtic goddess from the Black Forest. Her offerings are mostly Black Forest Ham, Black Forest Cake, and Spring water. Now i can usually provide this since we have Black Forest ham but my mom is gonna be kind of concerned about why my table has just ham on it. So, I do other things, like burn a candle, or talk and offer my stuffed wolf for her. Anything can be an offering if you deem it so.

CANDLES

Okay so not everyone can get access to multiple colorful candles. however for some witches who hide away this can be a completely normal obsession for some people! So maybe youre in the store with your mom, and you can ask if you can have a candle or two.  “What for?” want that room to smell like Honey Suckle Spring of course.

My mom bought me two candles AND an incense burner! My family is normal about essential oils and incense and candles so this was fairly easy for me.

Ive realized incense can be a bit of a tricky thing, but for me I had this dragon incense burner forever (it sadly doesnt burn incense well) and it takes the cones, but you can find like gift incense cases and such for the sticks! which is a common form of incense. I use cones but thats okay too! Any little thing helps! If you can convince your parent to buy an incense burner and buy some incense your set! if not, thats okay! candles will still work!

Essential Oils. These are used a lot more today than a couple years back. My family uses them for personal reasons and medically for my bro. These are beneficial though! you usually order them online but some stores have them in candle and incense isles. BE CAREFUL THOUGH. some oils are not to consume or for your skin! Most are for aroma therapy which you mic in water and put in a diffuser! (if oils do not agree with your sinuses steam works as well ive read.)

RITUALS

Rituals can be tricky if youre trying to have privacy and parents dont knock coming in or someone comes home early.I would suggest night time or bathroom rituals. for new witches or witches in cramped spaces, i suggest picking a time, get a candle and pray in privacy of a bathroom or late at night as everyone sleeps and leaves you alone. this goes for spells too.

ITEMS FOR RITUALS AND SPELLS

You may have read a cool spell to do, but you dont have that candle, that herb, that crystal, etc. Thats okay! Spells are easy to wing its the intent and the mindset that works with it! Maybe try easy spells with minimum effort or research and educate on the spells and what they mean. Write a list of items that maybe you can build up over time! this is the thing a lot of witches freak out over, note you dont need these things to be a witch. the belief in magic, and deities or however you do your craft makes you a witch!

CRYSTALS

anyone can be into crystals. Its a common hobby to hav crystals it makes it easy to collect when youre out and about. sadly though these things can be pricey. You can find some places that have packs of different crystals. I found a pack at a native american store in cherokee that had rose quartz, amethyst, white quartz, green quartz, jasper, and blue quartz. You can find Crystals or crystal jewelry at art stores, musem shops, malls, or tourist areas like Cherokee, Tellus Museum, and places that hold spiritual value or geology. Ordering them online is an option to! But any jewelry can be like crytsal usage and hold magick purpose.

HOLIDAYS

Mostly for Wiccan witches, you may celebrate holidays like Yule and such. Problem is the celebration. You probably cant make cakes, or certain things on that day. which is fine! you can always make yourself a decent lunch and in your mind its a celebration. you enjoy that grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Now being dragged into family holidays can be different. but some holidays can easily work with yours! Easter and Spring equinox fall in good alignment with one another! Other religions can be a learning experience to improve your craft or take in values you can adopt.
