can't believe this was over two years ago

After KH2
  • Sora: Mom... I'm sorry I didn't come down for dinner.
  • Sora's Mom: MY BABY, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I'VE BEEN ABOUT -
  • Sora's Mom: Wait. Where is my son-in-law?
  • Sora: Your what...?
  • Sora's Mom: I can't believe you come home after running away two years ago to elope with that Riku boy and don't even bother to invite him over.
  • Sora: ...
  • Sora: *too stunned to respond*
  • Sora's Mom: Did you think I wouldn't approve? You know I don't care about your sexual orientation!
  • Sora: MOM IT'S NOT LIKE THAT OUR ENTIRE ISLAND GOT ENGULFED BY DARKNESS AND I BECAME A KEYBLADE MASTER AND I'VE BEEN FIGHTING ALL THESE MONSTERS IN DIFFERENT WORLDS AND I EVEN GOT TO MEET SANTA-
  • Sora's Mom: Sora, it's not nice to lie to your mother. Now sit down and eat this broccoli.

Okay. Okay so. I clicked one of the "suggested for you" things after reblogging a Yuri on Ice post and it brought me here and I was like, ooh, this super talented person is making a Yuri on Ice doujin? Sign me the fuck up?? and then and then and then I looked over at your sidebar thing and you are also the author of TJ and Amal???? which I read two years ago and loved so much that I reread it basically every few months???? I can't believe this????? I'm really freaking out??? Hi?????

ahhh hi! :D  Thank you for enjoying TJ & Amal!

And yep, I’m working on a Yuri on Ice doujin with another webcomic artist (I’m not sure if they want me to use their main pen name or not), and we’re hoping to put it out in late February. The title is “Pair Skate” and it will be PDF-only (but printable at 5.5 x 8.5 inches), around 20-24 pages, and for 18+ only.

Been using it as a way to try out new + faster page production techniques, and it’s fun so far!

(edit to add: I vastly prefer doing sketches/tight pencils on paper rather than digitally, so I’ve been doing that and then using my Surface Pro’s camera to snap a picture, then inking over THAT in Manga Studio. It works really well so far!)

Are you telling me you can't understand that a grown man might feel a bit awkward telling a legal adult to kiss a minor on tv in 2016? Any decent human being is gonna at least question if it's appropriate. It's like you're refusing to understand what that anon is saying because you don't want to admit you could be wrong. And what happened on BMW 15 years ago has nothing to do with it. It was a different era. If a 27y/o kissed a 17y/o on tv today many people would have issues, you can't deny that

I’m saying there is no compelling reason to believe this particular showrunner—who has been professionally producing/writing about teenagers kissing or wanting to kiss or thinking about kissing for over two decades—has any moral or ethical qualms about two teenaged, not yet adult actors kissing. The assumption thereof is not a rational explanation for why Riley and Lucas are being written as they are. It’s goes way beyond not kissing. They don’t even get Smarkle levels of closeness.

I get that some folks want to find ANY explanation other than “that’s the story” for why Riley and Lucas are being written the way they are, but unless you can present me with a solid reason to believe that the people running this particular production specifically have a problem with two professional actors who were both under 18 for the entirety of S3 production sharing an onscreen kiss while they’re ACTING (especially since the actors in question already kissed once when they were both even younger than they are now), well then…

Also if you think the nineties was some kind of “swingin’ free love” era compared to now in terms of how people feel about the ages of actors doing their jobs, then I REALLY don’t know what to tell you. Most people didn’t even know Trina was that much older than Rider in the first place because actors =/= characters, and even today MOST people don’t meticulously check actors’ ages to decide whether they’re morally good with fictional kisses.
