Alec Lightwood could cook. Or at least he was sure he could. How hard could it be anyway? Everything was all about precision. Getting your measurements right, following the instructions to a ’t’. Cooking was kind of like archery. Focus, precision and let it go, it would surely find its mark.
It was the reason why Izzy could never get her meals right. Sometimes, she was just too reckless, to quick to veer from the instructions. Something called for cocoa powder and they didn’t have any? Izzy would shrug and use chocolate instead, because in her book, chocolate and cocoa powder have cocoa in common.
And when she needed apple cider vinegar and they were all out, she tossed in some apples crushed it into vinegar, and thought that she’d pulled off the cooking substitution of the century.
She had been wrong.
It had taken them days to clean up the kitchen and even though he and Jace and he was pretty sure everyone in the institute had begged her not to attempt cooking again, she’d been back in that kitchen, two days letter trying to cook a French dish she couldn’t even pronounce.
Needless to say, she was the only one in the institute when she tried cooking it.
In here you can see Emeraude Toubia looking hot as ever when doing the hair flip and Matt is just sitting there staring at Em or I don’t know maybe Harry (who’s being a v supportive bff to Emeraude)? lmao
#lmao someone send help #i’m getting too attached to malec #it’s not healthy anymore
“Come on Izzy you
can do better then this” I said as I was ducking from some of her punches.
“It’s so hot” She said as she stop trying to catch her
breath and wiping the sweat from her forehead.
“Maybe you should take off your sweater” I suggested to
her. Izzy paused for a moment to think, then took it off and got ready to fight
again. I could tell that she was moving a lot more quicker now that she wasn’t
“See doesn’t that feel better?” I thought about it I
think this was the first time that I train with Izzy that she wasn’t wearing a
“Yeah your right” She told me. We kept swinging at each
other, throwing in some kicks in every now again but neither of us could knock
each other off our feet. After sometime we agreed that this was enough for
today and stop. As we both walked over to our water bottles we were talking
about me and Jace when I notice for the first time that one her runes was
almost completely gone. I couldn’t remember her ever letting a rune fade since
I known her.
“I think you need to redraw that rune Izzy” I said while
taking a sip of water. Izzy looked down at her arm and frown. I couldn’t
remember the name of rune and I was trying to figure out why it made her seen
“It’s fine” Izzy mumbled getting her water and not
looking at me.
“What rune is that again Izzy?, I’m having a hard time
remembering them all” I said while laughing. Izzy didn’t answer me so I grabbed
her arm. The minute I grabbed it she quickly pulled away and whispered
“I think I need to be alone” before she left the room.
Leaving standing there confuse.
“Hey Alec” I said as I walked into the weapons
room. He just hummed in respond. Nothing unusual I thought, since I came here
Alec hasn’t been the most friendliest person. At least he gave me some kind of
knowledge. I went over to the sword rack and started to pick out which one I wanted
for our mission later on. Alec was on side of me shaping his arrows for what I
assured to be also for the mission.
“Do you know where we are headed to tonight?” I asked.
Trying to make some kind of small talk with him.
“Nope, you’ll have to ask Jace that, he has all of the
information.” He told me while he started to put his brow and arrows away to
“Alec” I said. He turned to look at me, he give me a
look that said what. “Could you get me the sword on the top rack? I’m too short
to reach it” I said looking a bit in embarrassed. He walked over to the rack
and reach up for the sword. While his arm was up I notice that he also had a
faded rune on his arm like Izzy did but instead it was a different kind his was
more of a circle shape with something inside of it where Izzy’s looked like a
stick. I knew Jace had the rune that was on Izzy’s arm but I didn’t think he had
the one that was on Alec’s. Alec handed me the sword “Thank you” I said “What
rune is that on your arm?” I asked as I pointed towards it. Alec looked down
and ignore me then left the room. What’s with all of these faded runes? And why
won’t anyone tell me about them.
“Jace” I said as I walked into his room.
“I’ll be out in a minute” He yelled from the bathroom.
He must have been in the shower. I went over to laid on his bed while I waiting
for him to come out.
“I didn’t know you were coming tonight” he said as he
walked out of the bathroom putting on his shirt. He took the towel and ran it
through his hair trying to dry it a bit.
“I wanted to talk to you about something that no one
else will tell me”
“What makes you think I would tell you if they won’t” He
asked while smirking and sitting down in front me on his bed.
“Jace” I said while smiling.
“What is it?” I grabbed his arm and looked for the rune
I had seen on Izzy arm earlier.
“What does this rune mean?” I asked as I pointed towards
one. Jace looked down at it and spoke
“It’s my parabatai rune. It’s the one that connects mine
and Alec’s bond, Why?”
‘I seen a faded one on Izzy arms earlier and she
wouldn’t tell me about it. I also saw a faded one on Alec’s arm but it didn’t
look like this one. It was a circle with little shapes on the inside.” When I
said that Jace looked abit taking back. “What does it mean if its faded?”
“Alec’s was a wedding rune” He said quietly looking a bit
“I didn’t know Alec was married?”
“He isn’t anymore”
“What’s the story if there faded” I asked once again.
“It’s not my place to tell you Clary” Jace said looking
away from me. “It’s Alec’s and Izzy’s”
“Please tell me Jace” I begged. Jace looked back at me
and said “You can’t tell anyone that I told you this”
“I won’t promise”
“Parabatai runes and Wedding runes only fade for two
reasons, One is their bond is broken the other reason is that one of them died.”
I gasped at this point I knew that the person had died since both of Alec and
Izzy runes were faded.
“Who were they”
‘Jace go on” I needed to know what they went through. I
needed to know who this person was,
“Her name was Y/N she was yours and Izzy age.” Jace stop
for a moment but continue again “She had been at the institute since she was
little, she knew the Lightwoods longer then me. It happened a few months ago.
Umm her death.” Jace stopped once again taking a breath. “The four of us were
this unbreakable group, people called us the parabatai sibings. We went out on
a mission like we had many times before but it felt different to Y/N at least.
Before we left she had this feeling that something bad was going to happen but
we didn’t mind it because were shadowhunters we always have a bad feeling about
this stuff. The mission was going fine we found our demon we wanted and killed
it but on our way out many demons appeared out of no where. There were just too
many of them and we couldn’t killed them all. Y/N was hit by claws in her
stomach and the minute that happened they all disappear. She fell into Alec’s
arms and she couldn’t breath, it hurt too much. We try drawing the healing rune
but it wouldn’t work we had to get her back to the institute. Y/N didn’t want
that thou. She said she was going to die, if we try to move her we only put her
in more pain. So she stay there in Alec’s arms quietly telling us she loved us
and it was for us to let her go. That was the only time I ever saw her cry.I
knew her for so long” Jace had tears running down his face. I wipe them with my
“What does it feel like to lose someone if you have a
bond with them?” I questioned even thou I knew I shouldn’t.
“I don’t really know, I haven’t lost someone with a bond
yet. I heard that you feel empty on the inside” Jace said.
“It’s more then that” a voice said making mine and Jace’s
heads snapped towards the door. It was Isabelle.
“You’ll never understand the pain” she said walking to
us. “It more like half of your soul is missing and you can feel it gone. You
know every second of the day that theres nothing there and you will never feel
whole again. That feeling doesn’t leave you, you just learn how to go on with
“Izzy” I whisper.
“Don’t worry about it” She said trying to smile. “I
gotten used to it but it still hurts to talk about her.”
“What about Alec? How does he feel?”
“Heartbroken, lost, confuse, guilty. Many things. He
feels like he could of saved her even thou we all knew we couldn’t. They were
married for almost a year when it happened, it was soon going to be time for
them to take over the institute as the new leaders.” Izzy said while looking
out Jace’s bedroom window. If I could see her face there would be tears running
down her cheeks.
“You know, her death is part of the reason why Alec is
so closed off to everyone. He doesn’t want to get to close to anyone anymore
because he knows that they could leave him at any moment. When she died she not
only took a part of me but also a part of Alec.”
“It haven’t even been a year yet” Jace said.
“Feels like a life time” a voice said, this time we didn’t
look because we knew it was Alec. “You know your spot on about how I feel but
you forgot one thing. The will to live isn’t there anymore. I wake up to nothing
everyday, not her beautiful smile, not her chilling Y/E/C eyes. I wake up to an
empty side of a bed. It’s a reminder everyday that I failed her. That I lost
the love of my life. There’s no way that I could ever be the same again.” Alec
told us as tears were running down his cheeks as he walked up to his sister.
“How do you guys go about your day?” I asked they seen
like they were in so much pain.
“We’re shadowhunters Clary, people died everyday and we
go on like its nothing. That’s what your suppose to do no matter how broken you
are” Jace said joining the siblings at the window. That sounds so heartless,
why wasn’t it okay to feel lost of someone. I looked at the three standing in
front of me. I’ve only known them for a few months but how did I not know the
kind of pain they were in. How could they mask it so well. I looked at them than
slowly left the room trying to get away from their wound that I just reopen.
They still needed time to heal but I wonder if they ever could.
