if you ask a stranger for a glass of water (thirsty or not), they will give you what they have. if you ask for acetaminophen (headache or not), they will give you what they have.
we can’t feel your thirst or feel your aches, so we trust you and give whatever we have.
on the other hand, if you need to escape (because you can’t survive living with your past, etc..), the participant will say, “but why?”
they never asked why you were thirsty, or why you had a headache. they trusted your opinion on your own body.
but why aren’t minds included in this ritual understanding?
