can you feel the enthusiasm

anonymous asked:

Hi I'm sorry if this sounds rude but you mentioned your friends are giving up fic writing? And that you came close to.I notice writers get much fewer rebblogs than artists but I didn't know it's that bad. Who are you talking about and do you guys talk about this, like is there a chatroom for writers?

Hi anon! This isn’t rude at all, don’t worry! This is going to be a bit of a long answer, so bear with me :’)

I don’t know if I can mention names here, I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable, so I can’t really give you more details than I already have: I am friends with this person and they probably won’t be writing fanfics anymore.
I can tell you though that I’ve also spent most of the last couple of weeks wondering if there was still a point in posting my writing at all.

The thing is, writers barely get any feedback. Especially ones that aren’t insanely popular. We pour so much of ourselves into our writing, so it’s incredibly discouraging to barely get any comments, kudos, likes or reblogs.

In my personal experience, tumblr is an awful place for writers. I’ve got a decent-sized following on ao3 I think (though I don’t have much to compare to) and even there, with more than 100 people subscribed to me, I only tend to get around… 5 or 6 comments max per fic that are actually reviews (as in, comments with more content than “please update soon” or “this was nice”) - which is already more than I know many of my writer friends get.
On tumblr, I’m lucky if two or three people reblog my work, and that’s exactly the problem: Who’s going to see it if no one reblogs it? Likes are fine and of course I appreciate those, too, but in the bigger picture they’re meaningless.
Once a fic is done, it’s done. It’s out there then, and I can’t keep reblogging my own posts again and again in the hopes that someone will pay attention to them. I get one shot, maybe two if I reblog my fic again for people in other timezones, but that’s pretty much it. I’m not surprised that it’s gotten so frustrating that it makes people want to quit.

…as for your other question - I don’t know if there’s any larger chatroom or space for writers. I know some people have group chats, but it’s mostly a private thing, as far as I know? I’m really not a big name in this fandom so there might be a lot of stuff going on that I don’t know about.

As for me - I just message people a lot, with the tumblr feature, or on skype or snapchat if I know them better. I’m open to any and all conversations (most of mine with other writers started by me yelling at them about how much I love their work ^^), so if you want to talk to me please don’t hesitate to shoot me a message. That’s what they’re for, after all? My ask’s always open, and I don’t mind private messages either.

In any case - there’s quite a few people in my immediate vicinity that I’ve talked to and I consider friends - many of them are writers, some are artists, some do both, some do neither. I talk about this problem (of wanting to write, but barely receiving any feedback, of feeling like we’re wasting our time) to pretty much anyone who will listen, but it’s frustrating because I don’t have the influence to change anything. Of course I’ll try to keep my fellow writers motivated and try to change their minds about giving up, but there’s only so much I can do, and in the end it’s their decision. Most writers I’ve talked to really enjoy writing fanfics, and it takes quite a bit of disappointment to get you to the point where you want to just… stop. So… yes, it’s a big problem.

I’m going to wrap this up now, but… again, I cannot emphasize enough how important comments are to writers. I’ve talked to some people who’ve said they’re not sure if their comments will even make a difference, because they feel they haven’t got anything interesting to say - picture it this way. As a writer, I’m standing on a stage and presenting a thing, and in response, about twenty people give me polite nods (kudos, likes) and four actually start clapping. But there’s like two hundred people (hits) standing in this room, and I kind of feel stupid now.
All comments matter. At this point, they might save you your writers. Because with less and less feedback, there’s less and less incentive to actually post things.

I can’t say much for other fandoms because it’s been a while since I’ve written substantially for anything but Haikyuu, which is still a relatively active fandom? But I get the feeling that’s starting to wear off, too.

Enthusiasm shifts, and I get that. But if you still enjoy an author’s work, please, please, by all means leave them a comment. Otherwise it might be the last work you read from them.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Once Upon a Time' Bosses Break Down Our 5 Most Anticipated Songs from the Musical Episode!

Once Upon a Time’s musical episode is almost here!

For weeks, we’ve been teasing and tantalizing fans with details about the highly anticipated musical extravaganza that is headed to Storybrooke on Sunday, May 7 – and now it’s time to share the eight official song titles from the episode…

“Powerful Magic”
“The Queen Sings”
“Love Doesn’t Stand a Chance”
“Revenge Is Gonna Be Mine”
“Wicked Always Wins”
“Charmings vs. Evil Queen”
“Emma’s Theme”
“A Happy Beginning”

Once Upon a Time’s co-executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis confess to ET that bringing the musical episode to life from script to screen was a “really emotional” process for all involved.

“For us, we’ve been with them on this journey for 130-something episodes, so these moments where you’re doing something new, it’s exciting! It’s really why you do it,” Kitsis explains. “Every episode, you want to be you favorite episode and there was something magical about seeing these characters come to life and sing. And watching these actors getting to show off their talents that they normally don’t get to do, that was very inspiring for me and Adam and the rest of the writers and crew.”

To help get you even more excited for Sunday’s episode, entitled “A Song in Your Heart,” the Once showrunners are sharing exclusive scoop on our five most highly anticipated songs!

1. “A Happy Beginning”: “The inspiration was that we wanted this wedding to not just be about the two of them – it’s about this whole town,” Kitsis shares of Emma and Killian’s special moment. “How everyone is facing this together and how this family has come together. So for us, we wanted it start with [Emma and Hook singing,] but then stretch out to everybody because that is the core of the show.”

2. “Wicked Always Wins”: “It’s a solo for Zelena,” Horowitz reveals. “She is amazing and Rebecca [Mader] does a phenomenal job with that song. We don’t want to give away exactly what is going in it, but it’s all sort of pertaining to the stuff that is happening.”

“I would say that this is Zelena’s moment to shine,” Kitsis adds. “And she’s never been shy of the spotlight.”

3.“Powerful Magic”: “I think that what I love most about [Snow and Charming’s] duet is there is a very pilot feel to it in a sense,” Horowitz says. “[Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas] were so excited to do the musical that when you watch them do their duet – in fact, throughout the whole episode – their enthusiasm is like you can feel it. You see it on their face, and they’re so excited, and it really just makes them come alive. I don’t know how to describe it other than It’s the Snow and Charming you love the most.”

4. “The Queen Sings”: “This is going to be an Evil Queen song,” Kitsis confirms. “I think one of the goals for this episode was if you watch Once Upon a Time, you know that a Rumpelstiltskin episode is much different in tone than a Snow and Charming episode, and we wanted the songs to reflect the people who are singing them.”

Kitsis continues, “So, ‘Wicked Always Wins’ is a Zelena song and the Evil Queen song is very much a Regina song. For the tone, I think we say it’s kind of David Bowie meets Rocky Horror.”

5. “Emma’s Theme”: “Emma has a big solo,” Horowitz dishes before adding that Jennifer Morrison sounds “amazing” on the track. “It is a super emotional song that really – we hope – kind of expresses essence of the character and, in may ways, sums up her journey thus far.”

shinee as i see them

i got an ask recently asking me to get fake deep talk about how i personally see the shines, so…here we go ;; disclaimer: this has far too many metaphors but am i supposed to stop myself? the answer is no. enjoy :’)

jinki~

you gotta start with the leader, right? now, i’ve always found jinki the hardest to place. i’m always running my mouth off with metaphor after metaphor about all of the members, but..i’ve never quite understood what to associate with jinki. in the end, i think that’s what makes him cosmic. jinki is something i can’t quite understand. he’s the member who most prefers to keep his shinee life on a different plane than his home life. he shows us a part of himself, but the rest of him is such a mystery. he’s such a galaxy in his existence to us. a universe full of so many endless sparks of life and love in all that we can see. his voice, his smile, his laugh, his stage presence, he just wraps us up inside his cosmic whirls in the first moment we see him. in a flash we’re surrounded by awe inspiring swirls of something so much more beautiful. his tones envelop us in warmth and his movements pull us toward the stars. it’s only when we’re fully immersed within the galaxy that is jinki do we realize how little we really know about where we are. we can see what’s around us, but we don’t know what lies in those furthest recesses of who he is. that, i think, only makes this that much more beautiful. he is remarkable in what we can see, and even more in what we cannot. jinki is a mystery, but we all can’t help but fall in love.

jjongie~

for the past few weeks i’ve been in the dead of winter, and that’s where i’ve seen jonghyun. jonghyun, to me, finds his place in the winter night. whether cold and biting in the still air, or brisk and sharp with whipping frosty winds, he’s there. he exists not as a counter to the cold that’s outdoors, no, but he exists hand in hand with the cold. his big eyes sparkle like the moon off the snow drifts, while his smile makes his little teethies twinkle like near-fallen icicles. his hair, often dyed the frostiest white, exists in tandem with the crystals of ice that frolic in the air all around. all pretty parts of him shimmer like the cold still world around him. jjongie just…reflects everything about a cool night. there’s a sort of..solace…that comes with jjongie. and when i say solace, i don’t mean loneliness. i mean solitude. a gentle, quiet, comfortable sense of aloneness. when i think of this aloneness in the midnight air, my mind turns to blue night radio. jonghyun, alone, in his little corner of the world, truly at peace. in the smooth winter air that flows through that radio station, he shows us how we can be alone..together. we can feel what he feels without ever seeing his face. we can understand his thoughts without ever speaking to him. we can love without ever leaving our homes. the blue stillness of a winter midnight, with the calm comfort of blue night radio….that is where jjongie belongs.

keybabe~

now kibum…kibummie exists to me in shades of red. from the softest shade of pink, in how he bares his soul to us through unexpected moments of raw truth and clarity about himself. soft in his care for the people around him. gentle in the rare and real moments where he uses his struggles to inspire others to never give up. quiet in how he holds in so much pain sometimes…preciously, gorgeously, beautifully pink in all of his subtleties and secrets. here to the sharpest most poignant shade of scarlet. sharp in his movements, so sure of who he is and what he needs to be. cutting in his every look, in both senses of the word. cutting in his onstage actions, ones of unhindered confidence and unbridled talent. in this sharp shade, we find something special. nothing more and nothing less than he needs to be. his every move is calculated and right on target, yet his enthusiasm is unparalleled. you can feel his passion, blood red, in the way he smiles after a performance. you can see his desire with fire in his eyes while he stands up on that stage. his fears are in crimson that haunts the edges of his vision, but his joy is a ruby red that sparkles in the sunlight. and his passion is in deep scarlet, coursing through his blood in that camoflaged hue. his dedication is in wine, aged in this course of a lifetime. kibummie expresses his soul in shades of red, and in this moment, we can’t look away.

choi~

minho is a sunday morning. i’ve rambled about this before (oodles of times tbh) but i’m always willing to go on and on about this. choi is just..one of the most comforting souls the world is blessed to witness. he is warm, caring, hes passionate about the people he cares about, and he contains an ever present adoration for the world he’s in contact with. i call him a sunday morning because..have you ever woken up early on a weekend? have you ever just woken up for no reason other than to be awake? sunday mornings are so beautiful. hardly anyone is awake on a very early sunday morning. the only sounds that you can hear outside your open windows are the quiet chirps of birds outdoors just starting to wake up for their day. you can hear a car drive past every few minutes. you can hear the wind gently rustling through the trees out in your front yard. but that’s about it…you hear the quiet sounds that surround your own home. sunday mornings have a way of comforting you even when you didn’t think you needed them to. the air outside is near still, only flowing gently enough through your windows to slightly brush against your skin as you sit with a cup of coffee by the windowsill. sunday mornings are where love blooms within yourself. minho is like a sunday morning because he inspires love within all of the people around him. he is the comfort of the still air, the soft care of the sun upon your skin, the warm tingle of the coffee mug upon your fingertips. he is comfort and love…like sunday morning bliss.

taem~

now taemin…i feel like i’ve run all over the place with how i talk about taemin. i’ve called him a light, i’ve called him darkness, i’ve called him endlessly unexplored forests, i’ve called him calm morning snow, this list goes on (far too endlessly pfjfdjgft) but the one thing that stays the same is nature. taemin is a natural beauty. he has so much beauty, so much talent, so much (albeit adorably awkward) love built into him. and some can say he’s simply blessed, but i don’t think that’s true. genuine natural beauty doesn’t just come through untouched existence..you have to work for it. you have to tend to your cares and cultivate your worries and care for each and every little seed that’s been planted in your life. and that is just what taemin does. he is expression of natural talent through endless effort and unwavering strength. he is blood sweat and tears. he is the seed and the sprout and he is the water and sunlight that tends to it. taemin knows what he can be and will never stop working until he reaches that goal. i think that’s why he’s so eye catching in everything that he does. so often we can find ourselves blankly staring out into a natural scenescape, in awe of the beauty that the world works to withold…that same natural beauty is flowing from taemin in his every moment that he performs. like a horizonline at dusk, or forested treetops during a storm, or rolling clouds on a windy day, he is eye catching..hypnotizing….infinitely beautiful. he is, naturally, taemin.

Deliberate creation is about tuning your frequency. Deliberate creation is about feeling your emotions and knowing what they’re telling. Deliberate creation is about understanding the relationship between who you really are and what you really want and what you’re doing right here and now. Deliberate creation is about chilling out so that there’s no resistance and then focusing. It’s about tending to the frequency first and then applying the thought.

Can you find a frequency without a thought? Can you feel the frequency of love? Now, don’t get carried away about who you love or who you loved or anything like that. Just feel the frequency of love. Can you feel the frequency of love? Can you feel the frequency of enthusiasm? Can you feel the frequency of fun? So, it’s possible to feel a frequency by interpreting through emotion in a sort of thoughtless place. That’s all we’re asking you to do. That’s the thing to do first thing in the morning. Wake up and enjoy the non-thought. Don’t be too quick to try to figure out what this day means and where you have to go and what you have to do. Just give yourself, if you can, 68 seconds of just basking in the energy, in the non-action, nonverbal, even non-thought vibrational frequency. Just give it a chance and see what happens.

Once Upon a Time’s musical episode airs this Sunday, May 7 at 8 p.m ET/PT on ABC.

Hey, Oncers! This article only contains a teeny, tiny bit of all the interviews that ET gathered while on set of Once Upon a Time’s musical wedding extravaganza! So make sure you keep it locked to ETonline and follow @LeanneAguilera on Twitter for even more magical scoop this week!

So sick and disappointed right now. I can’t believe they did exactly what we were all afraid they would. Should’ve been expecting it, but I was holdng out hope that lessons had been learned. I feel like you can actually *see* the lack of enthusiasm by J2 during episodes like this, too, though they try their darndest to make it believable, there’s just nothing good to work with.

Sooooo this is a small clip I’ve extracted from my own copy of the bonus DVD featuring the voice actors of Sloth Pair, Terashima Takuma & Kaji Yuki, and Melancholy Team, Suzuki Tatsuhisa & Matsuoka Yoshitsugu from the anime SERVAMP.

I still have no idea how to sub videos plus I don’t think I’ll have the time to do that too so here’s a short clip and translation albeit loose and not 100% accurate instead. I know it might be a little troublesome to watch a video while referring to translations but please bear with it! ;w;

Let me know if I’ve made any mistakes and I’ll gladly edit them!
Also, please do not take out anything –be it the video or even the translations. Thank you.

It’s probably going to get pretty long so I’ll place them under a cut.

Prompt:  hi , you could make a imagine where you are the daughter of Bruce Wayne and the Joker in love with you and you match it? Pleaaase ?
A/N; my blog is rapidly becoming ‘joker only’ zone. and i’m not really complaining

MASTERLIST.

Being the daughter of Bruce Wayne meant always being in the spotlight as the little girl of a prestigious, intelligent millionaire. The press liked to eat you up – from making up stories of their own to getting actual exclusive interviews with you if Wayne allowed it. He was very protective of you as a father and as Batman. You were not allowed to journey along with him into the nightlife of Gotham. Too dangerous, he’d always say, I don’t want you to get hurt, he’d add.

If only he knew what you were up to.

The tires of a stolen Porsche screeched, roaring of the engine becoming so loud that it deafened your for a second, pumping adrenaline into your veins as you took off leaving a trail of one hundred dollar bills. One hand that was on the steering wheel suddenly landed on your thigh. A squeeze. You grinned, glancing at the driving man as you took off your mask. The Joker grinned at you, his laughter silencing the gunshots fired at your vehicle.

“(Name) (Name) (Name)!” He chanted, ecstatic, police sirens echoing in the air, “Can you feel it, can you?!” You laughed at his enthusiasm, your hand landing on his and softly pulling it into your inner thigh, “Chaos, (Name), chaos!” Though, he was too preoccupied to notice. Suddenly, he snapped his head to you, the wicked grin replaced by a wolfish smirk as his heated eyes gazed into your own, “what would your daddy say if he could see you right now?” He questioned, lowly. You smiled, licking your lips and leaning in just a bit closer to him, not caring that he was driving so fast that the scenery behind the windows were a moving blur. His eyes kept darting from your lips to the road.

“He’d say…” You started, lowly, “‘You’ve been a very naughty girl, (Name).’”

THE PROUD FAMILY (2001)

An American animated television sitcom that ran on the Disney Channel from September 21, 2001 to August 19, 2005. In 2011, reruns of The Proud Family were shown on the channel Centric.

Created by Bruce W. Smith and was produced by Jambalaya Studios. Originally piloted for Nickelodeon, it was eventually picked up by the Disney Channel and started airing in September 2001. Many of the later episodes of The Proud Family were produced using Adobe Flash.

The series is the first Disney children’s cartoon which did not premiere on network/over-the-air television, which had been done since 1984 when the Television Animation unit was started. It marked the first animated Disney Channel Original Series, and, incidentally, the only original animated series from Disney Channel not associated with, and to be produced exclusively by Disney’s Television Animation arm.

Why was it special?: IT’S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECES OF BLACK ANIMATION IN THE WORLD.

Friends, followers, casual observers you’ve read this whole thing correctly; Disney’s The Proud Family might just be one of, if not THE most important black animated cartoon in the world.

You know what, for this post, because I lack the articulateness to truly express why and because I’m not in the demographic for this show at all, I am going to turn the platform completely over to someone else. We’re going to hear from someone who’s not only more qualified but can tell us everything and anything we need to know about this show and what makes it so great.

Ash, honey, lay it on us, what makes The Proud Family so special?

A much needed symbol of early 00s black excellence , that’s what The Proud Family was made of.

Disney didn’t provide much black visibility in the princess line up or the overall Disney Renassiance in the 90s and even onward , although they had high profile black celebrities in their voice casts ( James Earl Jones , Eddie Murphy , Eartha Kitt , Tevin Campbell  ) you couldn’t match the skin color to the actor unfortunately .

Black characters would pop up occasionally on the television shows that didn’t include anthropomorphic characters such as Disney’s Recess , Pepper Ann , and The Weekenders .

The Proud Family was truly a joy and breath of fresh air giving young black kids someone they could identify with especially young black women.

Where do I begin ? cast members from prominent black television shows and films such as Family Matters , Friday , In Living Color , and Dr. Dolittle added all of the important spices to this show and theme song provided by Solange Knowles and Destiny’s Child put the cherry on top.

A wonderful showcase of diversity on all levels , The Proud Family touched on colorism , self esteem issues , friendship , and even cultural insensitivity which was very important .

The series debuted in 2001 and ended in 2005 but was popular enough to get it’s own Disney Channel Original Movie , an online spin off , and a crossover with the popular Lilo and Stitch series .

This sacred piece of black animation is currently airing reruns on the Centric station , this was important to young black women and even made the arrival of Princess Tiana even more significant.

To my black folks out there , PLEASE put our children on to this series it is so important that they are exposed to this good example of representation and allow this series as well as others that were listed during black animation month to help them find hope and inspiration so that they can go on and do amazing things for our community.

That’s just the big thing; the fact that the folks at Disney put a lot of heart and soul into this, an amount that other cartoons could only wish to have. Not only that but the show dealt with so many issues relevant to its target audience and more could enjoy and take away from it.

Just– you can feel the enthusiasm through my friend’s words, I could sit here and tell you what makes this show so special.  I would even though I’d fumble around about it for a long time but you just need to ask anyone who loved it at the time and they’ll describe it with such insurmountable joy and vigor.

This is one of those must-sees that everyone should check out at least once in their life, without a doubt.

TRIVIA

CLOSING THOUGHTS

You know what my favorite part of the show was? News Anchorman Al Roker who played this all-powerful reality altering genie kind of dude. It was such a weird idea for a character.

I also liked the Holiday episode where the Prouds took in a poor family and celebrated Kwanzaa with them, and the voices of the family included Samuel L. Jackson, Vivica A. Fox, and Raven-Symone. Ain’t that something?

Jason finding his s.o. wearing his clothes + reading a book together?

♔ : Finding your muse wearing their clothes

♝: Reading a book together

You don’t notice Jason standing in the door until he starts clearing his throat. You don’t even gaze up from your book, just tip your finger against the top of the page to dog-ear your spot and then reach over to the side desk for your glass of water. “You need something to drink, Jay?” You put your book to the side and pick up your glass, finally looking up at him.

Definitive Ranking of Book 4 Episodes, #10/13

10. 4x07 “Reunion”

Varrick and Bolin transport Chewie to Cell Block 1138. Opal’s not cool enough to get sushi. Wu’s in laundry. Korra and Asami don’t listen to Mako for an entire episode.

I love going back and picking apart media, neurotically analyzing every moment, and whatnot. But I think there’s sometimes we should step back and try to appreciate just how exhilarating a story can be to experience the first time. I remember feeling so on-edge during the first six weeks of Book 4 because I was desperate for Korra to be back around everyone. It’s not like those episodes really drag when you think about it, but waiting a month and a half, especially when experiencing first time Shipper Feels…

And holy crap this episode delivered. I don’t want to make it all about Korrasami because I do think that’s a disservice to a lot of the other truly great aspects, but like…I was walking around grinning for a week because of the “snazzy” line, you know? Hell, in my posts from back then, you can feel me trying to restrain my enthusiasm because I was so scared of being wrong and let down. Also I used to be a lot more formal for some reason. Everything changed when I began analyzing Asami’s clips.

Negative to positive

Positive energy is very nearly the same as negative energy. It’s just focused in a different direction.

The best way to deal with negative energy is not to fight against it. Instead, make positive use of that energy by redirecting it.

For example, at the heart of frustration, when you strip away the circumstances, it feels a lot like enthusiasm. And in fact, by simply focusing the energy of your frustration in a different direction, you can transform it into enthusiasm.

For everything that you feel the urge to oppose, there’s something else that you can support. Each instance of negative energy has a positive counterpart.

When you’re feeling negative, you’re actually quite close to being positive. Just make the choice to focus the intensity of your feelings on what you value and appreciate, rather than on what you don’t want.

No matter what is coming your way, you can point the considerable power of your life in a positive direction. Remember what you’re in favor of, and put your life into it.

AIBA MASAKI SELF PORTRAIT

Sho: Sometimes I watch ‘Aiba Manabu’ and Aiba together with the celebrities that are appearing seem like they are having a seriously good time and the feeling of that atmosphere is overflowing in its transmission. To say overflowing, the other day during Arashi ni Shiyagare filming, the “Despicable Person” segment that all the members performed, no matter what he did, Aiba was the only person who’s “good person” side was overflowing. (laughs)

Nino: Shimura’s Doubutsuen is undoubtedly a highlight. Starring together with Shimura-san, who is one of the forerunners of comedians, I’m sure that part of him has changed.

Ohno: With Aiba-chan’s utmost effort, the natural and loud laugh that he summons is amazing. For his plays, that effort comes forth every time is even greater. To see the members up on the stage, giving their best, moves me and makes me cry. (laughs)

Jun: He’s a person whose characteristics are his enthusiasm and energy. By letting loose a single word and nonchalant action, he can suddenly make all members fired up. In an instant, he can change the entire atmosphere of place, bringing a certain drive into the created moment. To be able to completely change the timing is certainly Aiba’s attraction.

Aiba: First of all, please go see Miracle Debikuro-kun! (laughs) And also, now, not going too fast, I feel I’m living at a good pace. So, next time, no matter what type of work comes, I will be able to cope with it and give my best.

In honor of the new Legend of Zelda game that came out today… #weareZeldafans

What you’ll find is that the only thing you really want from life is to feel enthusiasm, joy and love. If you can feel that all the time, then who cares what happens outside? If you can always feel up, if you can always feel excited about the experience of the moment, then it doesn’t matter what the experience is. No matter what it is - it’s beautiful when you feel that way inside. So you learn to stay open no matter what happens. If you do, you get for free what everybody else is struggling for: love, enthusiasm, excitement and energy. You simply realize that defining what you need in order to stay open actually ends up limiting you. If you make lists of how the world must be for you to be open, you have limited your openness to those conditions. Better to be open no matter what.
