can this just be on broadway please

Defying Gravity (Off-Broadway, June 20 2003)
Kristin Chenoweth & Idina Menzel
Defying Gravity (Off-Broadway, June 20 2003)

An earlier version of Defying Gravity from Wicked’s original Off-Broadway run at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco, featuring alternative lines & lyrics such as:

  • “Elphie, just say you’re sorry! You’ll have everything you’ve ever wanted! Elphie, please… you can’t go against the Wizard of Oz!”
  • “I hope you’re happy/I hope you’re happy there/I hope you find somewhere they understand you as I grew to/I hope you find it/You too”
  • “Where’s your green friend?”
  • “It’s me! It’s me! Up here! It’s meeeee!”

Also continuing the story of Upper Middle Class Train Assholes Who I Hate

There were these two parents waiting to put their daughter on the train (presumably back to college) and the mom said something. I don’t know what, but by the response, I’m assuming it was disparaging

Because the dad goes, “no, I thought Hamilton was enjoyable!”

And the daughter chimes in with, “besides mom, it was good to see something fun!”

And Mr. Dad Man is like, “yeah honey, we didn’t need to see anything too serious. They could sing better than I could, so I was pleased!”

Hey so in honor of Pride Month here’s a list of musicals with actual LGBT characters in them so people can stop pretending that “implied gay/bi characters in Hamilton” is the pinnacle of LGBT representation on Broadway

-Avenue Q

-The Color Purple

-Fun Home

-Hedwig and the Angry Inch

-Kinky Boots

-A New Brain

-Spring Awakening

-Book of Mormon (if you want to count that)

Feel free to add to the list!

hey i know we’re super excited about brendon going on broadway for kinky boots and i think that’s super rad!! but i’m a little concered realizing a lot of people are going to go because it’s brendon, therefore might not go to musicals or plays much and concerts have very different ettiquete than theater so like. just please don’t go expecting it to be like a concert. theater has different rules

  • you only applaud after musical numbers or after acts/heavy scenes. basically when everyone is applauding
  • don’t call out names or cheer when the room is silent. it’s disrespectful

  • you can laugh ofc if something is funny!! that’s normal. just don’tr try to draw attention or distract anyone. it’s like a movie, they have to remember a lot onstage

  • don’t bring signs or anything like that

  • dress a little nicer. theater you try to wear like what you would to church. not everyone does but for instance i saw book of mormon when i was 16 and i wore a suit jacket style coat and nice shoes and it was passable. a lot of people were dressed even nicer at a comedy musical like that

have fun just don’t go expecting it to be like a concert. this is mostly just to younger people who may not have gone to these things?? yeah

  • Lin Manuel-Miranda: *reads a historical book and decides to turn it into a cutting edge revolutionary musical with a modern music style as well as star in the musical himself*
  • American Theatre Wing: omg he's amazing and this musical is the best wow all of the awards
  • Dave Malloy: *reads a historical book and decides to turn it into a cutting edge revolutionary musical combining modern and traditional styles of music and barely even has any spoken words in it and writes all of the music and orchestrations and stars in it himself and continuously makes changes and improvements for years for each new production of the show until it finally reaches broadway as the absolute best version of the show it can be*
  • American Theatre Wing: I can't read suddenly I don't know

idea for a new broadway musical

-main character is an 11 year old girl who runs away from home and meets a family of 4 who drank from a spring in her family’s woods and are now immortal

-she falls in love with the 17 year old son and he gives her a bottle of the water from the spring, telling her to drink it in 6 years so they can marry

-evil man who wants to sell the water tracks the family down and the mum kills him, so the family have to leave and the girl has to decide whether to drink the water

-it’s literally just tuck everlasting

-please revive tuck everlasting it was so young it didn’t deserve to die

just a quick note for anyone seeing brendon on broadway this summer.

i’m not making this post about what to wear and all that stuff as i think that should be your own choices, even if there are ‘expectations’ (but obviously you cant go in anything disrespectful). i’m here to talk about meeting brendon and the behaviour about it.

so yes, it is confirmed brendon will be coming out of the stage door, as it is a broadway tradition, to take some pictures and sign a few stuff. firstly, remember that it is going to take brendon a while to take off his costume, make up and any other theatre gear he’s wearing. please don’t expect him to be his usual energetic pre-show self. secondly, he won’t be able to see everyone waiting for him so please do not have a go at him or any of the crew as not everything is possible. i really hope fans who attend during the first night or week don’t ruin it for fans who have tickets that are much later on in his show schedule as it has also been confirmed that if fans show disrespectful behaviour, or create an abrupt scene, he won’t be coming out anymore. also, please show respect for the other actors too… even if you are just there for brendon! the stage door will be very busy, so a quick tip is to pack all your stuff up at the intermission so when the show is over and everyone’s done bowing, you can pick up your stuff and leave quickly. also, try to ask staff where the stage door actually is and where the nearest exit is to get there. it’ll help you a lot!

at the end of the day, i hope you all have fun seeing brendon on broadway, it’ll truly be something unforgettable. the show kinky boots itself, and also brendon as a main role. i have faith in the fan base that they can keep a behaviour to a respectable standard! just imagine if you had the chance to meet brendon and it was stopped because of other people creating mob scenes. oh, and also think about brendon. this is a dream for him. don’t let him down.

Ben Platt x Broadway actress reader headcanons

This has only just been requested but I couldn’t stop thinking about it?? And its a lot longer and and more ramble-y than anyone ever asked for, sorry!

Also this is my first real person fic (well set of headcanons) so please let me know what you think and what I can improve on!

- You were currently starring in The Great Comet whilst Ben preformed in Dear Evan Hansen. Being main characters, and being instinctively hard workers who were dedicated to your roles, meant that you had incredibly busy schedules so you spent every second not preparing or preforming with each other.

- The Imperial Theatre and The Music Box Theatre are literally next door to each other which just made the separation a bit worse.

- But you definitely tried to sneak away between performances to see each other without being caught by your stage managers. There’s been more than one occasion where you’ve fallen asleep cuddled up in Ben’s dressing room  and Laura has had to wake you up to get back for the evening performance (not without snapping a picture first though).

- Sometimes you come out of stage door at the same time and you see each other, and Ben always blows a kiss to you and tries to convince security to let him go over the barrier to get to you.

- One of your favourite memories was the 54 Below show you had done together which was literally just the two of you singing your favourite songs. You made your friend record it and you and Ben loved to rewatch it together.

- Ben always tries to be as quiet as possible on his day off to help his voice, and despite wanting to sit and talk with him for hours you understand and support his decisions. You had decided to get little whiteboards to carry with you on the days when you really couldn’t speak to one another and you’d just write cute messages to one other or draw little pictures. Whenever one of you would start to talk, the other would cut them off with a kiss. (Sometimes Ben starts talking just so you’ll run across the room to jump on his lap and cut him off with a kiss).           {I have a lot of feelings and headcanons about Ben on vocal rest and I don’t want to bore you with them here}.

- You both wake up and go to sleep at the same time because you have the same show schedules and this makes for the best morning cuddles from Ben (who you just know is the most snuggly person ever). But, one day he’d woken up earlier as he had extra rehearsals and he had left you a long note about how much he loved and appreciated you.

- You’re friends with all the DEH cast and you encourage Ben to go out with them more often - even if it is just for one drink before he returns to his vocal rest.

- You’d try to warm up together when you had the chance but it just involved more make-out sessions than either of your voice coaches would think was healthy.  Either that or laughing at the weird new techniques you would try to get warmed up.

- You never really got to see each other shows since they were on at the same time. You had only seen DEH twice, both at the very start of its run on broadway. So, without telling him, on one performance a few days before the Tony’s you took the day off to watch Ben. Despite him saying that he wanted to be warned if there was a surprise guest in the audience you didn’t tell him you were coming. However, considering you would be sat in the front row, you had asked Will to tell him you were in the audience before he went on so he wouldn’t be shocked - you didn’t want him to mess up the performance he puts everything into but you still wanted it to be a surprise for him.

- You think you cried the hardest in the audience. You cried seeing how much effort he put into the role, and his physical ticks that he put on for Evan (but that were starting to creep into his normal life), not to mention his (and the rest of the casts) incredible acting and the amazing story which knocked you breathless.

- At the curtain call Ben couldn’t help but kneel on the stage, leaning down into the audience to kiss you which earned a lot of applause from the crowd.

- On the rare occasion when Ben is not on vocal rest you sing all your favourite songs together whilst you cook. Your twitter page is full of little videos of covers of show tunes that you and Ben have sung together. The most popular one is definitely ‘You and Me (But Mostly Me)’. People loved Ben reprising his role as Elder Cunningham and thought it was especially cute when he changed the lyric from “my best friend” to “my girlfriend”.

- He tried to plug your show and your incredible performance at any opportunity (and you did the exact same). He succeeded in mentioning your name, as well as the fact that he was a Jew, in every interview.

- You definitely accompany him to the Tony’s but because you (and your show) are also nominated you can’t sit with him, having to be on the aisle in case you win. This means he sneaks over to you during all the ad-breaks (despite the organisers warning him not to) and texts you throughout. When he wins he runs down the aisle to you and kisses you until you force him to go onstage to actually collect his award.

- You’re both so supportive of one another and you know opportunities like yours don’t come about often, especially at such a young age, but you both can’t wait until you can see each other more often.

This is so long but I also want to do a part two??

                                                     🎭     🎭     🎭

Y'ALL I need your help! I need money for a car! My mom just had surgery and can’t drive. So I need a car to help my family out.

Above I’ve included a list of all of the bootlegs and sheet music that I have. I’m basically going to sell bundles of files.

My prices are:

1 file: $2

3 files: $5

5 files: $7

10 files: $10

I’m open to bargaining and whatnot. But please keep in mind that I need help and ANY amount is well appreciated!

Also, if there’s something you want that  you don’t see here just comment and lmk! This list is CONSTANTLY updating! As I add more files into my theatre collection daily!

I’m sorry for doing this y’all, I’d normally give these away for free, but I really need a car. My mom can barely walk rn and I don’t really know what to do. I have one job, and I’m trying to find another, but any donation is really appreciated!

To DEH, TGC, CFA, and GHD fandoms,

The Tony Awards do not prove who is the better musical is. It only proves that the majority of voters has recognized as what the musical has done for the community of Broadway. There are about over 800 voters, and we don’t get the results how the voters voted. We may never know how close the results are. Just appreciate your favorite musical as what you love it for. Be respectful to other musical fandoms. Theatre is a community full of love. The actors are all having times to meet with the other actors in their categories because they are FRIENDS. We can love musicals and still be friends.

If you ever want to talk musicals nominated for Best Musical or the ones that weren’t nominated. My box is always open. I am bias free. I love all four musical that were nominated. I’m still trying to learn more about Groundhog Day the musical because I can’t find enough info on it. Please if you are worried and just need to rant please message. Please reblog this if you feel the same if people can come to you without judgement on their favorite musical.

edit: I have changed the price of character sheets!

Reblogs are highly appreciated!

  • You, A fool: The Great Comet's producers switched Oak with Mandy because they are racist assholes, who can't see real talent, and because of that I will not support the show.
  • Me, not a fool: The Great Comet's producers did not think about race in this situation at all, they thought about money and keeping the show alive, ya know what they need to think about. I do agree that they could've explained it better but they announced it to the public like they did when Brittain was switched with Ingrid Michaelson. It was the public eye that made this whole thing into a big deal AND Oak I love the guy I really do but he could've and should've handled the whole situation like a professional. Great Comet is a great show and no matter how bad this whole thing looks you should support the show. please. Just think of how many amazing actors will be out of a job. Lucas Steele, Denée Benton, Gelesy Bell, and so many other magnificent actors. Please support the show. please please please please. this show deserves way more that want it has been given. I love the other shows but this one holds a special place in my heart. It was my first broadway show I ever saw and I felt such a connection to every person in the audience and every actor and,,, sorry im rambling and I don't really have much to say other than support this show please please please, spread the word to every inch of the broadway community, buy tickets! it's actually pretty cheap compared to everything else. BUY MERCH!!! A very easy way to help them just do whatever you can.

Cuddling with Davey would include:

Hello my lovelies,

I was really in the mood for cuddles so I felt like writing a little tiny bit of fluff because really, who doesn’t want more fluff? I feel like there isn’t enough out there, so instead of re-reading others’ amazing work while crying into a tub of ice cream, I decided to make some of my own!Anywaaaaay, enjoy my little headcannon because let’s be honest, Davey is actually one of the cutest characters ever. Also lol I’m writing this on mobile because I don’t want to get out my computer so if this ends up looking horrible or there’s grammar mistakes, please forgive me…

cuddling with davey would include:

  • he’s a very cuddly person
  • he insists that the two of you cuddle literally all the time
  • it doesn’t matter what mood he’s in: whether he’s happy, sad, excited, tired, or angry
  • he is always down for cuddles
  • the way you cuddle varies on the day
  • if he’s tired, all he wants is for you to be wrapped up in his arms. most of the times your back will be to his chest, just so he can hold you and show how much he loves you without using words like he normally does
  • you like cuddling with him when he’s tired because his breath on your neck is actually the hottest thing
  • if he’s excited or happy most times he would have you face towards him, with your legs intertwined
  • he just likes to look at your amazing face. (I mean I can’t blame him because you’re a beautiful little bean) this is when you guys can share about your day without being interrupted by anyone, normally it’s Les or Jack because they like to annoy Davey. I mean, you love them and all, but gosh they sure are annoying, so you use all the time you can to catch up
  • also it’s a peaceful time when you two could talk and kiss and be all cute and couple like
  • now if he’s sad or angry, he would much rather be the little spoon
  • there are times when he really just wants to be protected and supported
  • it’s very rare for davey to cry, but he HATES when anyone sees him cry
  • if he feels like crying, he would like to face away from you, because he needs the comfort but he also likes the privacy that comes with not looking at you
  • whenever he is stressed about school, he will just lay down and let you wrap your arms around him
  • but sometimes he really just needs a shoulder to cry on
  • so he will just turn around and cry into your shoulder as you hold him
  • he doesn’t want to appear as “weak” even though you are always telling him crying is a normal thing that everyone does
  • he still insists on hiding his face (it’s just comforting to him)
  • (also your hair always smells nice)
  • (plus you’ll play with his hair sometimes which calms him down)
  • oh yeah, you will always play with his hair
  • sometimes it gets flat because he wears his hat all day
  • so when he takes off his hat you get to make his hair all fluffy again
  • overall there is a lot of touching
  • he looooooooooooooooooves playing with your hair while you’re cuddling
  • he leaves little kisses all over the place: sometimes they’ll be on your forehead, your neck, your wrists; really it will be wherever he can reach
  • he is always trying to touch you in some way so he can make sure that you know he loves you
  • because in his mind, actions really do speak louder than words
  • cuddles with him are so warm and protective because he always wants you to feel safe
  • Davey is honestly just the best and I want a Davey please help I am so lonely
