her writing is ALL OVER THE PLACE it’s like they can’t decide whether to actually give her a personality or just keep her easy waifu bait. whenever they go into the more interesting parts of her like the whole, yknow, bloodthirsty monster thing, it’s like it’s about a completely different character and it has no bearing on her characterisation outside that one scene. I literally can’t remember if fha fucked her over or she never had that much characterisation to begin with (just kidding, it’s probably both). 6/10 it’s not like it’s her fault but maybe I would actually care about her if the writing stopped disrespecting her

you’re a cool and charismatic dude and I loved your arc and the waver thing and the whole aggressive hedonism shtick and how your noble phantasm is literally the power of friendship but my ex couldnt shut the fuck up about how cool and manly you are and you just can’t escape branding like that my guy

Kalagang #01

1x01 LIMBIC RESONANCE

The first episode of first season – and where it all begins. We don’t see Kalagang interaction yet, but we’re able to see them having an unknown connection after Angelica gives birth (and kills herself). We all know by now, for Kala and Wolfgang, water is their element – like some sort of medium of their connection since their births.

Kala: But I heard it. I heard the thunder, and rain.

So here we see Kalagang’s very first connection, although they’re not aware of it. And not surprisingly, rain – water. We can also notice that rain works as a symbol for juxtaposition of these two opposite characters. Weather in India is warm and sunny; we instantly know she’s been raised by loving family, her father supports her, and she’s happy with her life. She is the sunshine.

Original post [x] @regalstormborn

Scene changes; Wolfgang makes his first appearance. It’s raining, everyone’s wearing black, it’s funeral – I’ve seen posts about how Wolfgang and Kala have this Hades and Persephone aesthetic. Well, he is definitely giving god of death vibe here. He hasn’t spoken a word, but we already know what kind of person he is. So the rain is not just a medium helping Kalagang connect/sense each other, but also a symbol to contrast one from the other.

Original post [x] @osxarisaac

I mentioned in previous post that Wolfgang doesn’t show his emotions. This scene clearly shows that side of him. Especially when his Uncle Sergei talks about Wolfgang’s father, by now we already know how Wolfgang despises his father, and yet Wolfgang doesn’t even flinch his eyes or frown. We can see that he has learned to put every emotion – mostly anger – inside of him and suppress it. And I also want to point out how calm he is in this occasion. Maybe because he’s not close to his family, but it kinda gave me this feeling of…he’s so used to death, like death always surrounds him. It’s almost as same as breathing.

Original post [x] @mufalo

Even when he is all alone in front his father’s tombstone, he just doesn’t show his emotions. Instead he simply gives his signature smirk to his dad (and piss). That’s how much he is used to hiding his feelings. Which makes me thrilled to see how he slowly opens up and shows different kinds of emotions as he develops relationship with Kala.

Original post [x@sense8edit

The last Kalagang moment in this episode is when Kala visits Ganesha temple. When she gives food to Ganesha telling she’s put some peanuts and whatsoever, I’ve never realized how genuinely happy she was, before her marriage. I don’t think we now get to see her smile like that quite often in season 2 – except of course when she’s with her cluster and Wolfgang – I’ll talk more about this in upcoming posts, but before we move on, I want to point out that this post isn’t just about how Kala and Wolfgang develop their relationship; it’s also about how each has their own personal growth.

So it’s important to see that her pure smile right there which represents innocence, and also naivety. What do I mean by that? Physically, she is grown-up. But at the same time, Kala’s just started her journey of becoming one. For me, I think being an adult is a life-long journey; to have our hearts and minds be mature, wise, and complete are not as easy as physical growth.

As we grow up we find that heart is so much complicated than we think. And Kala is basically on the verge of discovering that. In other words, she’s still just a little girl who’s just stepping into the real world. Yes I know she is smart, independent, and strong – I’m not saying she’s childish, at all. What I’m saying is discovering new emotions, learning how to accept them and to embrace people whom are connected for that emotions are gonna be new to both Kala and Wolfgang.

That being said, the whole temple scene can be defined as a starting point of her journey – a little girl on the threshold.

Kala: [Rajan is] the perfect husband for me. Except for one little fact. I do not love him.

Original post [x] @sensatessource

And that threshold is marriage. Now we all know that marrying Rajan wouldn’t automatically help Kala turn into a grown-up woman. I already mentioned that it’s more than that. That’s just what our society thinks. But I would say, symbolically, the concept of marriage itself is definitely something new – something big to Kala. It’s a huge step.  She thinks Rajan is okay; she thinks it’s the right thing to do. Still she’s torn up between what is best for her and what is best for heart. This dilemma will go on through out the series. It will make her struggle for sure, but also will enable Kala to figure out what it means to be a woman – or adult in general.

Anyhow, guess who appears after Kala confesses her dilemma?

Original post [x] @netflixsense8

None other than Wolfgang Bogdanow (Well, technically if you rewatch it, Felix’s face comes out before Wolfgang’s…but lol, who cares). Funny thing is when I first watched the series, I actually didn’t know they’re gonna be together, so I didn’t know the significance of Wolfgang appearing right after scene of Kala in the temple. So it’s another fun for me, personally, to catch this small moments implying they are connected deeply.

I think that’s pretty much it for this episode. Well, I’ve only done two posts of Kalagang series, but I’m really actually having fun going over their moments from the beginning. Hope you enjoyed it too. I’m trying to come up with hashtag for this series of Kalagang posts so that you can find them easily. If you have any ideas, just throw them to me :) Also, if you have any Kalagang moments I’ve missed, or if you wanna just add up to my thoughts please leave comments. I’d love to know what you think

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #193 - Pacific Rim

Spoilers Below

Have I seen it before: Yes

Did I like it then: Yes.

Do I remember it: Yes.

Did I see it in theaters: Yes.

Was it a movie I saw since August 22nd, 2009: Yes, #242.

Format: Blu-ray

1)

Raleigh: “When alien life entered our world it was from deep beneath the Pacific Ocean.”

This is actually a really interesting concept and break from the usual alien invasion movies. It keeps the movie incredibly sci-fi but gives the monsters a much more earthy quality to them. And opening the movie with the idea establishes the world we live in right away. In fact, the entire prologue does an excellent job of clearly and quickly establishing the world of Pacific Rim (I consider the prologue everything before Raleigh and Yancy go and fight the monster, even though the film’s title takes 16 minutes to show up).

2) The monsters in this film are referred to as Kaiju and that fact shows the incredible respect the filmmakers are showing to the genre they’re playing in. For those of you who don’t know, giant monster movies made in Japan like Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, etc. are referred to as Kaiju films so just by embracing that genre name for this film shows they’re playing in a similar world. I just like that that’s the path they went down.

3) Ramin Djawdi’s score for Pacific Rim is absolutely kickass. The German composer is probably most known for his work on the first Iron Man and “Game of Thrones”, so audiences for those projects are familiar with the fact that Djawdi can get you pumped through music. Pacific Rim is no battle, with the main theme being an electric guitar heavy and absolutely energizing anthem of badassery that gets the audience ready for battle. I suggest everyone listens to it.

4) Charlie Hunam as Raleigh

Raleigh is rough around the edges but in a way the audience can appreciate. He’s not a jackass, he’s not a jerk, he’s just a bit macho. But he’s still a nice guy (not Nice Guy™), showing kindness to much of the cast of characters throughout the film (Mako, Pentecost). There’s an old school roguish charm to him, but Hunam is also able to play the grief that marks Raleigh for a lot of the film.

Raleigh: “I was still connected to my brother when he died.”

That is an incredibly rich and unique conflict, to know what it feels like to die and live while also knowing that’s what your family felt in their last moments. Hunam is able to work with this well in a number of scenes and while at time his American accent can be a bit distracting his performance overall is damn good.

5) This film does a very good job of establishing minor and supporting characters so that even if they only have a few minutes of screen time you remember them. This includes Yancy, Choi, and all the other Jaeger pilots. Through combined visual design and unique character writing, they stand out.

6) The first Kaiju/Jaeger fight - while not the best in the film - still strongly establishes the film’s intense action. It is important for the audience to know the rules in these fights early on. To know that the Kaiju and Jaeger are close to equally matched; neither is swifter, neither is bigger, it’s a really intense skirmish between opponent of equal size and strength. Establishing that well early on is important and exactly what this film did.

7) Idris Elba as Marshall Pentecost

I think Elba gives the best performance in the entire film. Pentecost is such an enigmatic character, he’s not an open book, but instead of feeling underdeveloped (which is a risk with such characters) he’s interesting. You can tell there’s more to Pentecost than we’re being told because Elba works so well wight he part. He just radiates leadership and authority in a multifaceted performance. You get his hard edges, his no nonsense behavior, his occasional jackassery, a caring father figure, a loyal soldier, and a driven man all in one package that is Idris Elba. I fucking love Elba in this film.

8) Rinko Kikuchi as Mako.

Mako’s awesome. I love Mako. She’s…it’s hard to put into words. She’s an incredible strong character with deep rooted conflict and motivations which Kikuchi is able to carry with her always. This conflict is good because it strongly influences Mako’s choices in the film, which in and of themselves can breed more conflict. You can just tell that while Mako is good in her current position as Pentecost’s assistant(?) that she can do SO much more. You understand that through the way she interacts with Raleigh, the ease she handles the tasks given to her, you know she’s not reached her full potential yet even though she wants to. And you just freaking root for her to go further, to get what she wants, something which I think is equal parts Kikuchi’s performance and the writing for the character. It’s also worth noting her platonic relationship with Elba is very strong and helps develop both characters.

9) Burn Gorman and Charlie Day as both crazy strong in their roles also, breathing such life and fun into their parts and the film as large. The strong bickering Newt and Herman is incredibly fun to watch and while Day does get more time to shine as Newt that doesn’t mean Herman is any less interesting. They’re both such a fun team to watch.

10) Something director Guillermo Del Toro is able to do incredibly well across all his films - largely through production design and practical sets/effects - is that he creates a world which is fully alive. Just from looking at it you get an understanding of how it works, how it’s different from our world. It is striking, full of life, and totally unique.

11) Mako’s candidate trial.

Did I mention I love Mako? Because I do. And this scene just makes me love her more. The connection and kinship she is able to immediately establish with Raleigh is crazy good. It just FEELS right watching the pair of them on screen. Their relationship is in many ways the heart of this film and this scene gets you invested in them. You just know that they’re the right for each other.

12) Newt’s decision to drift with a Kaiju is a strong example of stakes. How far he’ll go to do what he think is the best thing to do because the alternative of doing nothing isn’t good enough. I dig it.

13) One thing I like is that Mako isn’t really sexualized or objectified in any way. I don’t even think we get a shot of her half naked or anything. The film shows off how sexy Raleigh’s body is more than it does Mako’s and I really freaking love that.

14) There are a few comparisons to make between this film and Independence Day. The fact that it’s humanity fighting against alien invaders (even though these aliens are from below the sea) is one thing, but then we learn this.

Newt: “These being, these colonists, they take over worlds…”

It’s very similar to how Bill Pullman notes the aliens in Independence Day are like locusts, moving from world to world and taking over natural resources. There are more coming up, and it’s not even a comparison of quality or saying one is a ripoff of the other, it’s more just I like the similarities because I like both films.

15) Mako’s backstory.

Through showing us Mako’s backstory, not just telling us, the film makes it all the stronger. It perfectly explains her motivations and stakes throughout the film in a way which is simple, elegant, and ready to remember. Also the way the film cuts between Mako’s memory, Raleigh in Mako’s memory, and the real world of Gypsy Danger is very strong. All in all, it’s just a strong example of backstory.

16) Ron Perlman as Hannibal Chou.

Okay, Ron Perlman is always a wonderful character actor. I have never seen a Ron Perlman performance which I have not liked. He just breathes this consistent charisma, energy, and fun into every performance he has ever given so Chou is no different. While he may be more devious and deceitful than say Hellboy, Perlman has no less fun with the part and just makes Hannibal Chou one of the surprise stand out characters in the film.

17) The first Jaeger fight with the Kaiju in Tokyo is just plain fun, a nice prologue to the upcoming Gypsy Danger fight but one that steps up the Kaiju VS Jaeger fun introduced in the film’s opening.

18) Gypsy Danger VS Kaiju.

The extended fight sequence is 100% fucking awesome! A perfect collaboration of, “oh that’s so cool!” and some, “oh that’s so stupid!” moments but in a way that is totally fun. It’s giant robot vs giant monster entertainment at its purest in a way which is just totally entertaining. Some highlights from the fight include:

  • Raleigh: “I think this guy’s dead, but let’s check for a pulse. (They shoot him with a plasma gun.) No pulse.”
  • THEY USE A FREAKING CARGO BOAT TO BEAT ON THE KAIJU LIKE IT’S A BASEBALL BAT!
  • THE KAIJU HAS WINGS! OH MY GOD THAT’S SO COOL!

And of course…

THEY’VE GOT A FREAKING SWORD!!!!!

More than anything else the best scene in the film (which this is) shows off all the imagination which can go into one of these fights and all of Gypsy Danger’s skills as a fighter.

19) Is this really necessary?

Newt [examining the dead Kaiju]: “It’s pregnant.”

This whole moment feels a little extra. Like, couldn’t the Kaiju brain just be intact after the fight? Although it does lead to Hannibal’s “death” and a great post credits scene.

20) Okay, I’m tearing up a little bit at the goodbye Pentecost has with Mako before he gets in a Jaeger. Because they both know this will kill him and I just…okay, I’m good.

21) The best speech since Independence Day.

22) Something I haven’t really talked about yet is drifting. Drifting with another person in the context of the film is such an intimate and strong connection. It is pure relationship, pure honesty, and I freaking love it.

23) The climactic fight with the category five fight is really a dual fight between the two Kaiju in a well paced, choreographed, and smoothly edited moment. You are never taken out of the moment during the fight due to shoddy craftsmanship, it is all just really smooth.

24) I think the final dive into the breach is really well done because there is a genuine question of if Raleigh will survive or not. The first time I saw this I thought for sure he would die and they wait until the last minute possible to get him out there, just upping the tension throughout. It’s really strong.

24.1) The final thing in this movie that reminds me of Independence Day is Raleigh sending his ship right into the enemy to explode feels a lot like this:

(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)

25) I actually love that this movie doesn’t end with Raleigh and Mako kissing. You can head canon it as anyway you want. I see it as platonic, but you can also see it as they know each other better than anyone else so they don’t need to kiss to know how they feel about each other. I just find it very strong.

26) Remember how I mentioned a post credits scene in note #19?

Pacific Rim is just really incredibly fun. You can tell that Guillermo Del Toro is enjoying the world he helps to build, with sheer amazing giant robot vs giant monster action. The character drama and motivations are surprisingly poignant, the actors are incredibly strong, the writing is top notch, and it’s just…it’s so freaking good. It’s so freaking FUN! Go watch it. Now. Do it! Please! It’s that good.

(A table of contents is available. This series will remain open for additional posts and the table of contents up-to-date as new posts are added.)

Part Seven: Don’t Neglect Action

Since dialogue is one of our main tools for passing information between characters about what’s happening not only in the plot but also in terms of character arcs and development, our stories can start to feel as though the action scenes are just cushions between talking scenes. I myself have felt sometimes as though I’m just hopping from conversation to conversation. It can be difficult to know when you’re striking the right balance between action and dialogue.

Know your focus.

Generally a scene will have a purpose to perform within the story as a whole. Maybe it’s to have a certain event take place or to showcase a character’s change in perspective. Think about what your goal with a scene is–and more often than not, a scene will have more than one! Depending on what the main point of the it is, a scene will tend one way or the other naturally, born out of that purpose.

Not every big developmental moment is built out of a dramatic conversation. The temptation toward melodramatic lines like in TV shows and movies is huge, but it can be just as powerful to keep something in just glances and actions your characters take. Conversely, not every moment comes out of a visual reveal. Don’t feel like you have to change the focus, but do consider new and interesting ways to serve that focus and whether its natural tendency toward narration or dialogue is the best option for it this time.

If it feels like your story is suffering a little from too many scenes of one or the other, try finding another way to convey the information that is the focus of the scene whether that’s switching a conversation to something more focused on your characters doing something or the other way around, toying with the trope may reveal a new way of doing things you hadn’t considered previously.

Stay aware of your flow.

It’s hard to do while writing, but luckily, first drafts aren’t meant to be carved in stone, so during your re-reads and re-drafts, make sure you’re concentrating on and conscious of the scenes that are built mostly of dialogue or action. It seems so tempting to alternate them, but creating that kind of rhythm can become wearing and predictable for the reader, and it really will start to feel as though you’re just hopping from conversation to conversation with pillows of action between (or the other way around). Instead, find ways to blend the flow together by finding scenes where action can happen at the same time as a conversation. Often, two scenes can be combined and their dual goals achieved simultaneously. It’s not the first idea that comes to us, but in much the same way that two side characters can be combined to the same functions, scenes may work better in your story by working together. Give it a try when you feel like the flow of a story is stunted by a split focus.

Dialogue and action work together.

Perhaps the most obvious of advice is simply the reminder that these two techniques–narration and speech–work together. While it’s certainly an option to have a scene exist completely as dialogue, or an entire scene solely be narration of action, “best practices” for writing say that you should try to mix the two into each of your scenes. The focus of your scene isn’t the only thing in there–there’s also the wind up to the focus and the transition out of that moment and into the next scene. Find ways to interweave actions with your conversations and the other way around so that things still continue to happen. The last thing we want is for our stories to come to a dead stop so two characters can talk.

Think about how you can give action to your characters. Not just any action, however, but action that progresses the story. Can you still describe the environment while they talk? Can you still give tidbits of backstory while they discuss? Can you observe mannerisms and culture and speech habits while they argue? Can they continue their banter while continuing to work? Blending narration with your dialogue will help you avoid the use of things like emphasis formatting and overuse of ellipses. Instead of relying on those tricks, your narration will provide the pause in beat that the ellipses represents. You’ll build your action and your characters in scenes together.

Distance matters.

Narration interspersed with dialogue can provide a unique challenge in that you’re asking your audience to pay attention to two threads at once: what’s being said, and what’s being done. It doesn’t seem too complex, and on the surface, it’s not, however it’s important to keep in mind with dialogue that the phrases being said by people are meant to be in response to each other (most times). Spreading the responses too far apart from each other with description and action can lead to confusion; readers may have to step back and reread the dialogue from before in order to see how the responses are related. That’s no good; it pulls your reader right out of the immersive experience you’ve built for them.

Ideally, narration in amongst your dialogue lines should be kept short: a couple of sentences, a minimal paragraph at most. If you do have to separate the lines substantially, try to recall what’s been said previously within the character’s response. Maybe they repeat part of the question, maybe they ask for clarification, maybe they’re sarcastic, who knows. Keep your audience connected with the conversation as best you can. Yes, you want it to feel like a natural conversation, but if your characters take the time to do something or observe something that takes more than a couple of paragraphs before getting back to what they were talking about, probably not even they are going to remember exactly where they left off. Help a reader out.

Next up: Remainder sentences!

*deep sigh*

I don’t even know what to say. Here I am, listening to my touken song, my cup of coffee completely cold by my side because I couldn’t even finish drinking, I can’t even swallow my own saliva. I just can’t express into words what I’m feeling right now, apart from the love I have for this ship, for the way I said I would cry if they ever become canon (which is true, i’m tearing up right now..), apart from how happy I am that Kaneki was so straight forward and didn’t hold back…

I am so happy for Kaneki in general. Touka too, but Kaneki the most. He has suffered so much, always searching for something he couldn’t find, always searching for love. We are forgetting that Kaneki’s deepest ambition was to find love, to be loved, something so simple as that, this is the meaning behind Tokyo Ghoul, that’s Kaneki’s journey… to find love, and he found it. He just did. It’s always been there, but he couldn’t see it. I know things won’t be easy from now on, but I’m so hopeful in terms of knowing that, maybe, now he knows he’s not alone. And you can see he wanted this too. She kissed him and he didn’t even try to stop her or dodge her… he just kissed her back and expressed his feelings with his body. Sometimes words are just words, and I think Kaneki’s feelings had to be exposed in this way. When he cried… I just lost it. I love Kaneki so much, he makes me scream and sometimes I hate him because he can be extremely stubborn but I love him, he’s such a good person, he always forgives the people that hurt him, he doesn’t really hold grudge against anyone, he’s so gentle and kind… he totally, TOTALLY deserves this moment with Touka. Touka, a girl who waited for him for YEARS, a girl who felt lonely most of her life and still never lost hope in him.

I think both are so similar, and both are empty inside, and this moment they just shared feels like two pieces of a puzzle getting together. Kaneki’s emptiness & his need to feel loved is something Touka can relate too… everybody leaves her, but now they just found each other. This is not fanservice, this is a beautiful scene of two human beings (yes, human beings) finding comfort and learning to know each other a little bit better, two souls sharing the same emptiness that makes them whole when they are together. As Ishida say, they come as a set, this was meant to be, and I’m so, so, so, so, so happy today. I remember this post i made last year I think? saying how much i wanted a scene of Kaneki resting against Touka’s chest or whatever, feeling her hands caressing his body, feeling safe and away from his own demons knowing that there’s someone taking care of him, loving him, making him feel that he matters not for being the king or whatever the hell he is, but for being him, just him, Kaneki Ken. And it happened…

*cries*

oKAY NOW CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW KANEKI GRABBED HER BOOBS AND JUST WENT ON TOP OF HER LIKE A HUGE BEAST HE DIDN’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT HE JUST WENT FOR IT

TONIGHT YOU ARE MY MONSTER

TONIGHT I BELONG TO YOU

cheers, Kaneki 🍻 you are a man now

btw, THE BABY IS COMING

THUNDER THURSDAY #45: When to Break the Rules

Hey folks, Paul here for THUNDER THURSDAY! I was inspired to write about this week’s topic by the latest episode of Samurai Jack (”XCIV,” aired Saturday, March 25).

  • Side note 1: If you appreciate visual storytelling, and you’re not yet watching Samurai Jack, GET ON IT. (If you–like me–don’t have cable, be aware both Amazon and iTunes offer a Season Pass for $19.99. That lets you download each new episode after it airs; it’s money well spent!)

  • Side note 2: The first four seasons of Samurai Jack (aired 2001-2004) are kid-friendly. The new season is intended for mature audiences.

Now, when my students make fully rendered imagery (digital, traditional, or any mix thereof), I often advise them…

“Rule”: Avoid large areas of flat white.

One might think “brighter highlights = more contrast = more visual interest,” but consider Thundercluck here:

Note that when the highlights retain some color and texture, the image feels more natural and cohesive. When the highlights are pushed to flat white, they draw unwanted attention to themselves and reduce believability.

Whether you call this a “rule,” a “guideline,” a “principle,” or any term you like, there are three important things to keep in mind:

  • The “rule” can be broken, but first…
  • Understand why it exists, and then…
  • Only break it to serve a deliberate intention.

For an example, check out this still from last weekend’s Jack:

It’s tempting to post tons of images with a thorough analysis, but I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t seen it. Just trust:

  • This scene breaks the “rule” above, but…
  • It serves both visual interest and narrative intent, and…
  • The storytelling result is stunning.

(For fans of Jack, this scene echoes the Shinobi fight in Season 4, but the latest episode is on a whole ‘nother level.)

If you’re watching Season 5, you know what I mean… and if you’re not, then again, GET ON IT. Thanks for reading!

Paul

Samurai Jack was created by Genndy Tartakovsky.
New episodes air 11pm EST Saturdays on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

I do not know if I understand right, but you mean, Our! Ciel was a poor boy. He was a good boy and he was not loved by his family. He called a demon and everything happened? I think the idea is even sad and terrible. And why would he do that?

Hi!

he was not loved by his family.

Mmm, I see people coming up with this “Our!Ciel was neglected/not loved” theory from time to time, but I strongly disagree with that.

Ch40:

This is definitely our!Ciel’s memory with his parents, not real!Ciel’s (that is, if 2CT is true, of course^^;). I think these three panels are proof enough that Vincent and Rachel genuinely loved him, but in case you aren’t convinced yet, here are further scenes that show Ciel’s parents did care for our!Ciel:

- Vincent took our!Ciel to the party and held hands with him the whole time (ch31/32)

- in the bonus chapter “That butler, nursing” Rachel asked Vincent to go check on our!Ciel if he’s doing okay

- in the special chapter “With father”, Vincent outright says that he finds his son (our!Ciel) cute/adorable.

- we have this little flashback (ch28) where we can see Madam Red, Rachel and Lizzy looking worriedly at our!Ciel who’s sick in bed

And as for real!Ciel and our!Ciel, I’ll just refer you to this post. In short, I think the flashback scene in ch90 pretty much sums up their relationship:

[long meta] the hidden depths of voltron S1 E6

part 1: lance’s literal awakening and keith’s metaphorical one

(if you already know where I’m going with this, you might find part 2: an entire subtextual plot in S1 E6? - in this same post - more interesting)

I’ve been rewatching season 1, and I got to episode 5 with the bonding moment and was like yeahh but then I got to the beginning of E6, with everyone waiting for lance to be released from the healing pod, and I was like wait. I never really thought twice about the scene before, but this time around I was like…hold the phone.

what is keith’s reasoning for being impatient in this scene, anyway? like, if everyone else can wait a few ticks for lance to wake up, why can’t you?

is this just your Personality, to be an impatient nuisance sometimes, haha queue comedic intro? well, while keith is often impatient, it’s usually during situations involving life or death decisions. and since lance isn’t about to die, and the timing of his release from the pod doesn’t put anyone else’s life at risk…

since i trust the vld writers enough at this point (at least with keith, i guess…?) to not make characters do shit for no good reason, i don’t think keith was being impatient for the hell of it, especially to do with someone he’s made a point of *Shrug* Not Really caring about – that is, until shit went down in E5 and keith dropped that pretense like it was hot and didn’t hesitate to initiate the famed bonding moment.

my point here about this scene in E6, is that it’s directly linked to E5′s bonding moment, like 100%. maybe you’re like DUH OBVIOUSLY - and you’d be right, cause it’s obvious to me now and I was probably just being really slow on the uptake - but nevertheless, i don’t think we should hang up the the phone there…

W&N Cresswell feels (Spoilers!)

Me yesterday, reading all the Cresswell scenes:

Guys, I never expected in a million years, not only so much Cresswell in W&N, but SO MANY SHIPPER SCENES. And every single one was perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing! Just when I thought I couldn’t love Cresswell more:

- Cress calling Thorne “Carswell”. ^.^

- Thorne asking if Cress could use her hacking skills to his advantage at one point, and she goes, “I could. But I won’t.” and being all smug about it. Like, Cress wouldn’t do anything illegal just to please Thorne but Thorne isn’t even surprised. I’m sure similar scenes have already occurred before. I don’t know I just loved the whole panel.

- Them bantering about going to the gala. They are so cute and all sorts of adorable. I’m sure they couldn’t be cuter and more adorable if they tried. And it just shows how they interact in their relationship. I NEEDED THIS!!!

- The whole escort droid scene. Thorne going for the one that looks like Cress (because it’s modeled after her) and then totally falls in love … with the one that looks like him, haha. :D

- And seriously, can we talk about how Thorne looks when he thinks he angered Cress by suggesting going with “Cress”-bot instead? Cress is not a timid girl who can’t speak her mind. And Thorne is not the one who holds the power in the relationship. This is their post-“Winter” relationship and we got to see it!!!

- Thorne being all sorts of worried when Cress gets sick and takes care of her!!! THORNE - THE GUY WHO ONLY EVER LOOKED OUT FOR HIMSELF - TAKING CARE OF HIS GIRLFRIEND AND BEING ALL SORTS OF SWEET! *cries rainbow tears of joy* He prepared food “made with an extra helping of LOVE”! Like, this sentence is there and in black and white forever. I’m a hardcore Cresswell shipper and even I almost couldn’t handle the feels. *cries some more*

- Also, my poor pumpkin, always being sick. :( I mean it makes sense but still. But look at Thorne being all reassuring (“We still have our whole lives for me to show you the world”). Seriously, if any Cresswell shipper had been there with me, this would have been me:

I’m so sorry but I would have just screeched into your ears for hours, then cried and hugged you. Guys, our babies! Am I hallucinating? I was seriously scared to wake up and all of it was just an amazing dream BUT IT’S NOT!!!

- And then Thorne still goes on to say that “all the phlegm and mucus in the world couldn’t make [her] any less beautiful”!!!! *incoherent sounds*

- Thorne’s speech when he receives the medal and publicly announces what Cress means to him. “This medal is for you, Cress”. I don’t care anymore, I’m just screeching and fangirling but I think I deserve it. It’s like Marissa came down from some angel-rainbow-sunshine-island, floated to Earth just to give her loyal Cresswell shippers W&N, with harp music and a floaty dress. And she goes, “I’ve seen what you’ve been doing. The fanfics, the fanart, the headcanons. Yes, you and @lovelunarchron, and @regolithheart, and @shanlightyear and @nothingtoseehere-move-along (and I know I forgot tons of people so don’t be mad) but here, this is for you. You gave Cresswell life and now, Cresswell will give you life in return.” I mean the plan backfired, because now I’m dead instead, but I appreciate the sentiment. :P

- Thorne being worried, even frantic when he thinks something happened to Cress. “If you hurt her, I will skin you alive.” I live for this kinda Thorne who is so open and shows every raw emotion! *swoon*

- And then it’s Cress who saves the day because of course she does! Who would ever expect anything else? ^.^ And she’s so smart and Thorne likes his girls smart, we know that, we’ve seen it in CGTBL, so of course he has to kiss her (and she’s WEARING HIS SHIRT!). And give her his medal for “bravery and extraordinary heroism”. Guys, just bury me with these panels.

I’m now in happy Cresswell-shipper-fangirl heaven. I had one one-shot planned that would take place during the same time as W&N and while it’s not canon-compatible, I can still try to work in snippets and hints of what we see about their relationship. I’m so happy right now. My babies. ^.^

Kalagang #05

1x06 Demons

There’s only one Kalagang moment in this episode, but I LOVE THIS SCENE. I mean, we love all Kalagang scenes, don’t we. Who doesn’t? Isn’t that why I am writing these posts and you’re reading them right now in the first place? LOL. So without further ado, let’s begin.

Previously on Sense8, Kala fainted in her wedding. Thank you, Wolfgang. Now they are aware of each other. Also, we get to see what each character thinks more importantly of – moral compass, logic, or desire.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but when Wolfgang says ‘hello again’, I felt my heart exploded. TOO MUCH HOTNESS. I JUST. I CAN’T. HIS FACE. HIS BODY. HIS FREAKIN’ EYES. HIS VOICE. DAMN YOU WOLFGANG BOGDANOW. DAMN YOU MAX RIEMELT. Whoa, I’m gushing too much.

See what I mean? I can’t think straight when he’s like THAT.

Original post [x] @netflixsense8gifs

Oh no? OH YES TO ME! Kala, you seriously need to appreciate the fact that you are able to see him.

JUST LOOK AT HIM! OH MY GOD! You know what? this post can just be me gushing over Wolfgang. And I’m not gonna be ashamed of it. Or feel sorry for not analyzing Kalagang moments which I should be doing right now! You hear me? I wont’ be SORRY! – no, I’m kidding. I’d feel terrible if I didn’t write this post properly.

Original post [x] @fyeahmaxriemelt

One thing I’ve noticed when Kala locks her door is that the place they visit each other – right after they’re surely aware of one another’s presence – has changed. Before this, places Wolfgang and Kala visited (or just connected in general) were more public such as cemetery, Sanyam’s (Kala’s father) restaurant, Indian restaurant in Berlin, club’s bathroom, swimming pool, and the place where Kala’s wedding was held.

Now, they are in each other’s bedroom – the most private space one can have. Wolfgang showing up in Kala’s bedroom has significant meaning to it.

Original post [x] @fyeahmaxriemelt

Let’s rewind a bit. When Kala wakes up in her bedroom, the first thing she sees is her family (although the person in the middle looks like her coworker/friend but whatever). Let’s say Kala’s bedroom is a metaphor for her mind or herself. Her family (and friends) symbolizes things or people that made who she is today. They represent Kala’s personality, her beliefs, her dreams, memories, relationships, important values in her life, you-name-it. At the same time, her mind is the most private space – like her bedroom. So she only lets in those which she knows, trusts, cares, and loves, or at least she’s familiar with – just like her family has been the only ones who can come to her bedroom.

Original post [x] @fyeahmaxriemelt

But then, all of sudden, out of nowhere, THIS GUY shows up none other than in Kala’s own bedroom. In her bed. And let us not forget that Rajan has never been in her bedroom, ever.

I wrote in the previous post [x] that when Wolfgang showed up in Kala’s wedding he represented Kala’s inner voice. I’d add more and say Wolfgang himself symbolizes Kala’s darkest and deepest desire which explains why Kala later describes him as a demon.

Anyhow, so Wolfgang showing up in Kala’s bedroom indicates – the wedding sort of triggered the awakening of Kala’s desire which has been hidden for very long time. And now, it’s visible. Again, in her bed. She can feel her longing for something more in her life; she just doesn’t want to admit it, yet.

And before we move on, can we just take a moment and see how Wolfgang is eyeing on her? I mean, seriously…I’m 600% sure that most people love this scene because of the way Wolfgang looks at Kala the whole time.

Wolfgang: I didn’t ruin anything. You didn’t want to marry that guy. [That is not for you to say] Maybe not, but you wanted me to say it.

Obviously, Kala doesn’t want this unexpected visitor – more like an intruder from her perspective – to keep seeing through her.

Original post [x] @eleveun

And obviously, Wolfgang cannot help but enjoy knowing what she wants with seductive look on his face.

Wolfgang: *pat* *pat* *pat*

Me: I’M SOLD

But not her. Nope.

Original post [x] @fyeahmaxriemelt

And he seems so disappointed. Which makes him hotter and cuter for some reason. But I’m kinda glad that she said no to him. One of many things I love about Kala and Wolfgang is that even though they’re pretty much love at first sight, they don’t rush. Their relationship rather builds up gradually making their connection stronger.

Moreover, this is the first time Wolfgang actually develops a relationship with someone. It’s going to be something totally different from what he’s used to do with other women. So Wolfie, patting the bed may not be the smartest move to make in front of Kala. Not right now.

BUT interestingly, if you look back at the GIF where Wolfgang pats on the bed, you can see Kala’s body sorta leaning towards him for a moment – deep down, she wants him too.

Original post [x] @klarksbelomi

I have absolutely nothing to talk about – except how cute this whole scene was. The way Kala tries to figure out what is going on with her, Kala’s description of Wolfgang as demon, Wolfgang gazing at Kala as she moves back and forth in her room…and smiling at her. P E R F E C T I O N. Technically it’s not their first meeting, but it still gave me this vibe of meet-cute in romantic films.

Wolfgang: If you are so concerned with privacy and decency, why did you look? [I did not] Yes, you did. You looked then, and you’re looking now [I did not].

Original post [x] @ludi-lin

I just love how he teases Kala. Him glancing down at his ‘trunk’ and then right back at her. He’s totally enjoying every second of this moment with her.

Kala: [and somehow, I feel that you want me, too] Oh my god, you are a demon.

Original post [x] @fyeahmaxriemelt

In 1x02 post, I wrote that the way Wolfgang describes his feeling towards Kala is going to change gradually from words that are very instinctive to something more emotional. First it was ‘craving’; now it’s ‘want’. If you search the word in the dictionary, it means ‘have a desire to possess or do (something); wish for’. So for Wolfgang, this feeling he has is still closer to desire or lust (instinctive). The reason he uses that word is because maybe he doesn’t know it’s love, yet. Or maybe he’s just more used to that word.

Want, desire, lust – these are the words Wolfgang is familiar with. To Kala, they’re raw, strange, unfamiliar, and even immoral things to feel – which explains her astounded reaction. Not to mention she’s never heard directly from someone that he wants her. But at the same time, you see a very subtle smile on her face – she doesn’t hate it completely. I feel like she’s impressed by how straightforward and honest Wolfgang is. Because in her life, she never had a chance to talk about deep feelings or desires so openly with others.

I mean Wolfgang is everything that Kala is not – and that makes her more attracted to him…and vice versa.

Kala: I know that if it was you [Rajan] that had fainted just before you were to marry me, oh, dear, I’d be absolutely sure that you hated me and that you didn’t want anything to do with me. So I completely understand if you came here because you don’t want to marry me any longer. And you don’t have to worry about protecting my feelings.

Maybe because she’s somehow influenced by Wolfgang, but anyhow, when Kala meets up with Rajan, I think it’s the first time she actually spills out what she really feels. I would say she tried her best to be honest as possible, but it’s still not enough to make Rajan to know her intentions completely.

Because the way she address the issue is…you can see that Kala wants to be honest with Rajan, but at the same time she doesn’t want to hurt his feelings. She doesn’t want to be that bad person who dumps her fiance after their failed wedding ceremony. I wrote that Kala is on her journey figuring out ways to become an adult…and this is going to be one of the biggest struggles on her way. Sometimes, one has to be brutally honest with another.

Being honest with your heart may hurt others. There’s no grey area for this. At least in Kala’s situation. Whether she likes it or not, Kala will have to make a choice in some point. The consequence that follows her decision is inevitable. It is her responsibility – a burden that she must bear. It is painful, but that’s what makes us…what’s going to make Kala a woman (adult).

Rajan: For me, I love what happened. I love it because it makes our wedding something special. […] I imagine telling our children how their beautiful mother took one look at their father and fainted straight away. It is a great twist.

Oh Rajan, you just keep coming up with more foreshadowing of Kalagang.

Y’know I’m fine with crits, their business is their business. But why do they feel the need to shit on my enjoyment of the show on MY posts? Posts in which I’m clearly optimistic and enjoying myself?

What purpose could it possibly serve for them to make a disagreeing comment? They’re not magically changing my mind. Do they see my enjoyment as an invitation to show me how I’m supposedly wrong?

The only thing that I find thought-provoking is discussions about the pacing, plot, and storyline, and discussions on the complexities and flaws in the characters and their relationships – the moral ambiguity of the cast. I could care less if the characters look like funkos or gremlins for a whole scene or episode because that’s not true for every scene and episode anyway.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I personally don’t go making comments on crits posts claiming the characters, story, and animation is great, because I recognize that it’s not my place.

If you’re a crit and have something to say, make your own post about it! Stir discussion with your fellow critics! Go hog wild!

But please stay the hell off my posts.

So I wanted to dissect a certain scene in Lady Wifi between Marinette and Tikki where they’re briefly discussing the secret identity situation, and just to cover my bases I went to check the translation from the original french since netflix just gives the subtitles from the English dub.

Getting to that in a moment.

The whole point of this post was not to just touch on Chat Noir and Ladybug’s secret identities being withheld from each other because it’s smart, as I make a post about this at least once a week. I wanted to mostly point out an interesting piece of dialogue exchange between Tikki and Marinette suggesting that while Marinette decided to listen to her head and be smart about her identity in the end, her heart was telling her something different.

This is the english dub, by the way. We can only guess how their conversation went before this scene opened, but it’s clear that they’re discussing Chat Noir. My whole post was suppose to just center around this moment, about how here Marinette is revealing that her heart wants her to just go ahead and tell Chat Noir who she was, the only thing stopping her being her sense of caution. Just, you know, an affirmation that Marinette keeping her identity a secret from Chat Noir has nothing to do with not wanting to know him, or being afraid of him knowing her. It’s a secret because it’s smart, but don’t ever doubt how much she actually cares about Chat Noir.

This was suppose to be the end of the post, but then I read the translation of the french version for accuracy’s sake. The difference was actually pretty amazing.

Tikki: I know it’s hard to keep things from your best friend, but no one must know that you’re Ladybug!

Marinette: You’re right, TIkki. All of my loved ones will be safe as long as my secret stays in here. *Points to her head*

Well first off, let me get out of the way how annoyed I am that the ‘a superhero listens to her head’ quote wasn’t the exact translation. Second, Tikki is a lot more firm about her stance on Marinette’s identity and even is urging her to not tell anyone, unlike the english version where it seems like she’s just trying to understand Marinette’s thoughts on the matter. She also seems to be talking about Alya in this situation, which threw the BIGGEST wrench in this post, but I suppose the sentiment is the same no matter who Tikki is talking about.

Truthfully, I’m unsure which translation to take more seriously. Normally I would say always go with the french version, but I know english is also taken into consideration very seriously even when animating the show. It also seems very purposeful that we have Marinette staying firm in listening to her head despite what her heart’s telling her, and having this scene take place almost right after Adrien having his own moment of saying he was just following his heart.

I suppose it doesn’t matter in the end because the sentiment is the same, even if it isn’t word for word the same between translations. Marinette doesn’t want keep secrets from her friends, but she does so because it’s smart and safer for everyone. It doesn’t really matter if Tikki was talking about Chat Noir or Alya in the end, either, because they’re both very important to Marinette and there’s no reason why it would be hard to keep this secret from Alya but not her own partner. The scene where Ladybug tells Chat Noir ‘no one can know, not even us’ is said while she looks so upset, yet resigned, it seems so obvious to me that she wouldn’t mind him knowing who she was, if there wasn’t the danger present.

omg wait bambam pulled the jealous face over yugyeom and jungkook? I NEED TO SEE THIS 😂

so i assume you’re talking about this reblog and my tags.

get ready anon, i know you’ve just asked a question that i could answer simply with a link to what i was talking about (which is here, (x) ), but sadly i don’t have that much self control and this whole interaction is something i think about a lot.

okay so this whole ordeal starts when yugbam walk on stage with the rest of the 97liners and yugyeom goes to greet jungkook. bambam is not having that.

as you can see above ^ bambam is trying to stop whatever interaction that yugyeom and jungkook are having. no in front of his eyes is he gonna watch some punk snatch up his man right in front him. you bet his ass he’s gonna shove his way through and get in between whatever they think they’re doing.

here we have bambam ready to fight jungkook’s ass right there on the stage, all while jungkook and yugyeom stare lovingly into each others eyes.

bambam then tries to tell yugyeom that if he so much as glances jungcock’s way again he’s gonna bite his dick off. jungkook doesn’t give two shits about yugbam and continues to side-eye yugyeom while bambam’s back is turned.

bambam tries to stake his claim with a totally not possessive and very casual arm around the shoulder, which apparently jungkook decides to ignore because he looks seconds away from pushing bambam off the stage a declaring his undying love for his mushroom haired twin.

the plot thickens when bambam thinks his threats of bodily harm have worked but yugyeom hadn’t even been listening because he was lost in jungkook’s eyes the entire time.

and the whole thing ends with bambam telling yugyeom they’re getting a divorce the second this song is over and he can go ahead and marry jungle book and join behind the scenes for all he cares.

this is all 100% fact i promise i didn’t make any of this up. im really sorry to whoever asked this question, i know this isn’t probably what u wanted but like i said, no self control.

“How dare—”

Draco was cut off by a shirt hitting him in the face. He could hear Harry sniggering, and he pulled it away to glare at him.

“You’re coming, and that’s final!” Harry said firmly, before he could say anything.

Draco crawled out of bed, crossing the room and shoving him. “Who are you to order me about? I’ve never bought into that lord and saviour bullshit, and I’m not going to start now!” He crossed his arms for good measure, and fixed Harry with a dark glare.

“I’m your husband, and I’m saying you’re coming to the Burrow this year.”

Draco scoffed. “That’s not how marriage works, wanker!”

Harry flicked his wand past Draco’s shoulder, and a few seconds later, Draco was hit in the back by those clothes.

“That’s not what you were saying last week when you forced me to go to that awful opera with Pansy and Theo.” Harry pulled the shirt half over Draco’s head. “Get dressed. We’re leaving in twenty minutes.”

Draco struggled with the shirt, nearly falling over, before tearing it off his face, and throwing it at Harry. It only served to make Harry start laughing, and Draco realised he wasn’t going to win this. Harry only laughed like that when he knew he was going to win, and because of his bull-headedness, once he knew he was going to win, he always kept pushing until he did.

Gryffindors.

“You’ll owe me for this!” Draco hissed, crossing to the dresser to find something more acceptable to wear.

“This is payback for the opera!” Harry said, disappearing into the bathroom.

Growling, Draco followed him, almost tripping as he pulled on his trousers as he went

“The opera was payback for making me spend three hours listening to Neville prattle on about that stupid new hybrid of his over tea!” he snapped.

Harry frowned at him, a comical sight, with a toothbrush sticking out of his mouth, and toothpaste froth dribbling down his chin.

Draco raised an eyebrow. “Sexiest Wizard of the Year, thirteen years in a row, indeed.”

Full fic at Christmas and no sooner. I just really, really wanted to share this bit!

Kalagang #04 (2/2)

1x05 Art Is Like Religion

Kala’s wedding day. This is where Wolfgang and Kala recognize each other’s presence. After this, they are not unsure of each other anymore; they know one another is real. When I watched Kala’s wedding, first I was just mesmerized by Kala’s outfit. When I rewatched the episode, I was then mesmerized by cinematography – especially how they did with the colors. When I rewatched it again about hundred times, I realized more symbolism are hidden in that scene…* whispers * and some foreshadowing.

Kala: I had no idea how heavy it all would be. I hope I don’t collapse in the middle of the circle

Original post [x] @nataljedormer

Dear Kala,

First of all, you look like a goddess. Secondly, you’re getting really good at predicting near future. And lastly…heavy isn’t it? Not just the dress and all those jewelries you’re wearing…but also the weight of decision you have to make as an adult, the weight of your heart that keeps pulling you away from this wedding, the weight of guilt because you know you will never love Rajan, the weight of standards – made by the society, maybe your family, and even made by yourself.

When we become adults, there are so many things that we have carry on our shoulders. It’s not easy to simply ignore the fact that we live in a world where perceptions come first. They seem invisible, yet they somehow always find a way to give pressure on us. Perceptions, social standards, expectations. Whatever the cause might be, we slowly give in ourselves to them. And then one day, we realize that we’re wearing something that hides our true selves.

It may be an armor to protect ourselves; may be a uniform so that we can fit in; or it may be a dress that will make you beautiful. However, eventually, all of them will make us feel empty inside…because they do not show who we really are – what we really want.

Basically, Kala is hiding herself – especially her “unknown” desire – underneath that dress. The dress represents her pretending to be happy with her choice…pretending to be a good daughter her family knows as well as a perfect wife Rajan thinks. Sounds like a heavy burden to me; no wonder why the dress feels heavy to her.

Sun: I’m afraid I’ve just made the biggest mistake of my life (1x06)

Original post [x] @sense8sgifs

This is a scene where Kala and Sun unknowingly visit each other, which makes sense because they share similar emotions. Both had to make an important decision. For Kala, it’s wedding; For Sun, it’s prison. Both of them made their decisions…and now, both of them are not certain if they’ve made the right one. I personally think that, for a moment right there, two women did feel regrets.

And because Sun – who coincidentally had very similar feelings with Kala – says she’s just made the biggest mistake of her life, sorry Rajan but…I should say, same goes for Kala. Seriously, Rajan, look at her. She’s not being nervous. She’s being unhappy.

In Germany, look what we have here people. WATER. WOLFGANG. NAKED. SWIMMING. This whole montage of Wolfgang’s swimming and Kala’s wedding shows clear contrast between them – in terms of colors, elements, outfits (maybe appearance? can’t think of any good word), and interestingly “the way they move” which I’ll explain in a minute.

We can already notice the difference of colors (red and blue) and of elements (water and fire). I don’t have the GIF image, but for those of you do not remember, Kala and Rajan walk around the fire during wedding ceremony. Moreover, Wolfgang is naked symbolizing he has nothing to hide. He doesn’t let anything or anyone to cover up who he is. Unlike Kala, Wolfgang does not pretend.

Alright, here, I want to go over how Kala and Wolfgang move. I’m talking about the action. Like the way each character is actually moving. Kala is moving in a circle, whereas Wolfgang is swimming in a straight line. What does that mean? It foreshadows how each of them is going to react to one another – when they realize what they feel towards each other is more than just a desire.

While Kala is going to:

Wolfgang: [I’ve listened to you] talk in circles about what’s right and proper. Why you have to do this or you shouldn’t do that…(2x10)

Wolfgang, on the other hand, will:

Wolfgang: [I] don’t give a shit about any of it. I don’t care about rules, about what’s right or wrong. What matters to me is this. Us. Right now. (2x10)

See what I mean? Wolfgang will not stop. He will only see Kala and reach out for her without hesitation…hoping that Kala will do the same.

In this scene when Wolfgang stops in the middle of a pool, while Kala and Rajan are making vows to each other, it felt like Wolfgang stopped in order to listen to her. Not her vows, but this inner voice of hers whispering that this is not what she wants – that she wants something more. Something different. Someone different.

Kala: I take the first of seven steps with you, my husband-to-be, that we may cherish each other and promise we will grow together in mental and spiritual strength. […] and promise love and obedience in all things. […] We shall share love, share the same tastes, share the same food. […] Let us make a vow together to share our strengths. We shall be of one mind. We shall observe these vows together.

Another foreshadowing of Kalagang. Come on – share love, share the same tastes, share the same food, share strengths…shall be of one mind? That sounds so sensate.

Sidenote: I love how each vow matches to other sensates [x]

I put that GIF simply because it’s one of my favorite moments in season 1. Wolfgang looks so f***king beautiful in that scene. Especially his eyes, I can’t take my eyes off of his gorgeous blue eyes. I can literally spend my whole day just looking at that GIF image. I’m serious.

OK, moving on.

Original post [x] @rosetylecr

If one desires to reach out for the other, one must come out of his/her world. It takes courage to step into the other’s world. Everything is different. Everything is new. Everything is unfamiliar.

Wolfgang knows that things he has done, who he is…will haunt him, if he goes into Kala’s world. He knows the risk. He could have chosen to stay in the water, like he always did. He didn’t have to come out. He’s aware of what fire can do to him. And yet, he chooses to come out of the water. He steps into Kala’s world. For her.

Wolfgang: What the fuck are you doing? You’re not in love with him.

Original post [x] @geenozah

Because in that moment, Wolfgang is her inner voice – telling her the truth. And I don’t think it’s Wolfgang who wanted to reach out for Kala. I think it’s Kala herself who reached out for Wolfgang first. It’s just…she doesn’t know it, nor she wants to admit it.

…and so Kala gets literally cockblocked by Wolfgang Bogdanow.
