can i have a hundred dollars

Real advice

So a lot of you on here are teens and might be getting ready to be out on your own. Here are some things I learned the hard way or that are just good to know.

  • Never smoke or quit if you are currently. The cost of addictive smoking is more than half your groceries a month AND the bodily cost will surprise you.
  • Drink water. Yeah okay I know this one sucks but water is much much cheaper than soda, trust me. Your skin will thank you.
  • Send thank you cards. Don’t have any? Get the cheap ones and send those. It doesn’t matter how nice they are, the fact that you sent a thank you card matters. Send it for gifts, people calling you to check on you, those adults who helped you move, and even people who interview you.
  • Withhold 1. Okay so speaking of jobs, on your forms (US) where you are trying to figure out your tax withholding, put one. Yourself. It’s an easy way to make sure you don’t owe $2,000 in April and you still get a pretty decent check.
  • No pets. If you don’t have a pet now, don’t get one. It’s super hard to get an apartment that will let you have a pet when you are first starting out. Wait until you are a bit older and can afford to rent more than a one bedroom apartment.
  • Insurance. You’re young, so why do you need life insurance? Because that’s the best time to get it. Yeah, it’s a dumb expense to pay right now, but if you get it early, you can afford it. The longer you wait, the more expensive it is. Car insurance is going to be high for a few years, but it will drop around 22 and 25 years old. Health insurance usually comes through your job and please don’t ignore it. Renter’s insurance is usually pretty cheap and it covers you if there is a fire or natural disaster and you have to go back home to mom.
  • Off brand. This goes for food, clothing, makeup, and cleaning supplies and just about anything else you can think of. For food, Aldi’s is your best friend. I can go fill up a cart of just food and it will cost maybe $70. the same amount of food at Walmart is easily over $150. You can of course be picky, but try to get the majority of your food off brand. Hygiene products too. Goodwill is great for clothes, but plan a trip. Save like 60 bucks and drive near a big city where the rich people live. Go to the goodwill there. You can basically get an all new wardrobe for pennies on the dollar. Makeup is tricky. It can be really really expensive but you don’t really have to buy all of it name brand. Pick whats most important to you. I prefer eye shadows and lipsticks name brand and I deal with everything else from the drugstore. With he right techniques, you can make it look expensive. As for cleaning, I always use dollar tree stuff minus my laundry detergent because of allergies. Bleach, stain spray, and vinegar are gonna be your best friends,.
  • Car. Okay so yeah, that brand new car is nice and sure, maybe you can afford it. For now. Disaster will strike. Something will come up and bam, you’re stuck choosing if you want to walk everywhere or eat. Try getting a slightly used car, such as one of the ones they let people test drive a lot or a car that has previously been leased. Just as nice and much MUCH cheaper. And I have gotten THREE cars with no down payment so don’t let them tell you you can’t. But it is nice to put it down, even $100.
  • Negotiate. Don’t be afraid to haggle with people. Yeah it’s intimidating but it’s 10 minutes of your life versus hundreds of dollars a year. What can you negotiate? Almost anything. Car payment. Rent. Insurance. Hospital bills. Even due dates for the bills you can’t negotiate on. Also, if something comes up where you have to skip a payment on something, call them. Give them like $25 and explain your situation. Ask if your payment date can be moved with the $25 as a goodwill promise to pay the rest later. It works. They would rather move your date than send you to collections.
  • Collectors. Okay so this one is tricky. If you have fallen behind and owe a collector, don’t fret. I do too, even as I write this. Owing a collector means that the original service has been paid (health bills, credit card ect) and you are now paying the people who paid your bill. (I know it’s confusing) however, they will usually want the entirety of what they paid for you in 6 months. Meaning if they just paid a bill for you that was $3,000, they are gonna ask for $500 a month. That’s rent. That’s crazy. Tell them outright what you can afford and don’t lie about it either. If you can afford $100, tell them that. If you can afford $50, tell them that. If you can’t afford to pay them anything when they call you, let them know when you can. If you can’t afford it when you told them you could, don’t answer your phone to a number you don’t know. I know that sounds horrible but if you are renting an apartment, renting a car, and literally own nothing, they can’t do much to you. Just pay when you can and try to maybe pick up some extra shifts at work to make a payment. I have been dodging collectors for about three years. I owe I think three right now. I pay ONE of them a month, but it’s a large payment to keep them quiet for a while. I do not suggest this for you, I am just letting you know what I do.
  • Credit Cards. Okay, the big one. Many adults will tell you to never ever get a credit card and that’s just not feasible in this world. However, it can be addicting to be able to go to Walmart when you are negative in your bank account and get that $10 movie. I mean, it’s just 10 bucks right? WRONG. It will build up fast and soon the one credit card you have will be maxed. So you have to get another for emergencies. And another. And so on. So here’s my advice; Get a credit card through the same bank as your checking and tell them to put a limit on it and not let it raise. Then lock that sucker away and forget you have it until a real emergency comes up like a flat tire, short on money for groceries, or that collector that hasn’t been paid in 4 months. You can make it on one credit card if you are strict with your money, which I am sure you don’t have a lot of.
  • Budget. Speaking of money, write out a budget for yourself. Don’t know how? Here’s the easiest way. Most people get paid bi-weekly so here’s how to do it. Make two columns, Check 1 and Check 2. If you have a full time job you know about how much your checks are going to be so put the amount at the top of each column. Now that hard part - figure out what is due when. Is something due June 1st? Take it out of check 2 (end of May). Is something due May 14? Take it out of check 1 (beginning of May). That main thought process behind your budget is that you want to have the money for a bill set aside before it’s due. Paying a bill a few days early is a great way to make a good financial reputation for yourself and for some things even build credit. Now if you get paid bi-weekly, you will sometimes have a month where you get 3 checks. DON’T BLOW IT. Put it right back into your budget as Check 1 and keep the flow going. If you prepay bills, like your car or your rent or your credit card, and stay a month a head of those big ones, you may need that wiggle room later. If your car, for instance, is paid ahead 1 month, you can use the car money you would normally pay that month for maybe some extra groceries or some small emergency without using your credit card and you won’t even fall behind! You’ll just be back to owing every month instead of being ahead. It’s like a savings account without the temptation to blow the money.
  • Simplicity. Enjoy simple things. A gym is expensive, go for a walk instead. Cable is expensive, pay for internet. Phones are expensive, get on a family plan (there is no shame in staying on your parent’s plan, just pay your share). Food is expensive, enjoy leftovers. Movies are expensive, go early and resist any snacks. Shopping is expensive, go to the mall and spend all day trying on cute clothes and taking selfes in the dressing room (makes you feel like a million bucks sometimes!). Time is expensive because you don’t have a lot of it so If you want to stay in bed all day on your day off, do it. If you want to binge on your day off, do it. If you want to just play board games with friends on a Saturday night with a few beers, do it. Simple fun is way better for your pocket and your anxiety.
  • Mental Health  - speaking of anxiety, make sure you take care of your brain. Go outside, even if it means sitting on your steps. Wake up early, even for just an hour. Don’t burn yourself out at work or school because you will suffer the consequences. Make a schedule. If you have trouble with timekeeping, ask for help. If you feel you do have a real mental disorder, see if your employer has what’s called and EAP program (employee assistance program). They usually help you find a mental health provider and give you a few visits for free. This will help you narrow down what exactly you have and after you’re free visits are up you can see who is in your health insurance network that can provide you the mental care you need. if you are prescribed drugs, always get generic. If there is no generic, ask for an alternative. I will not lie to you, mental health is the hardest thing to treat. It took me 8 years and a lot of money to figure out the right medication cocktail for me and my bipolar/ schizophrenia (yes I have both). Turns out I only need two pills, and if I were to refill both of them right now, I wouldn’t even pay $10 thanks to my health insurance (which sucks but at least it’s there) and because I got generics. Also, talk therapy can be pricey but sometimes only a few sessions can change your life. I have literally only been to talk therapy 11 times in my life and that was to deal with PTSD, bipolar, schizophrenia, and suicidal tendencies. 11 sessions. That’s 11 hours. And yeah, I paid over $400 out of pocket for those collectively. But if I hadn’t I would probably be dead right now so it was worth it.
  • Connections. Calling your friends is awesome because sometimes, it’s free therapy. And okay, maybe you’re 19 and you still have a horrible relationship with your parents. It’s okay. I am 25 and I still have problems with my parents. My whole family actually. Social media is a kind of safety net for me because that’s where I can be myself. Find where you can be yourself, it will help you stay sane.
  • Clean. Sometimes when I feel crappy, I take a shower. I clean the living room. I do the dishes. I vacuum. I mop. I open the windows. I get the trash out of the house. Change into some clean clothes. Organize my desk. Clean out your closet and put all your unwanted clothes in bags to donate. Just a small amount of cleaning can make you feel like you accomplished something.
  • Hobbies. This one is a little hard too. It depends on your personality, your budget, and how much free time you have. Drawing , singing, and writing are free. Exercising can be free if you run or walk in the park. But most hobbies do actually cost money. Video games, playing an instrument, painting, sewing, cooking/baking, making things - those all cost money. Some of them lots of money. But you have to have a hobby outside of social network, sleeping, and working. It’s another thing to keep you sane and it’s just a good idea.
  • Toxic people. Do not be afraid to cut people out of your life that do nothing but make you feel bad about yourself or insult your life. This could mean breaking up with your partner, unfriending a person from your social circle, cutting out a whole circle of people, or even not talking to a relative(s). It’s not easy for some people but if they do not build you up, they will only tear you down.
  • Drink at home. Okay so this one might sound like a no brainer, but I’ll explain it anyway. Packs of beer and hard liquor bottles are cheaper than a pint and a shots at the bar. Bottles of wine are cheaper than a glass at a restaurant. It’s never okay to drive drunk or even after one bottle of beer. NEVER. Staying at home is cheaper all around and you can drink in your pajamas while watching Finding Nemo on loop. Or invite some friends over and create a drinking game out of a show, a game you already have, or just talk and drink.
  • Sleep. This one is so important. You need a good bed and a quiet, dark place to sleep. If you are scared of the dark, get a night light. Can’t sleep in silence? Get a fan. I have both of these and they help. You’re brain will feel tired if you ‘slept’ for 12 hours but only got 1 hour of REM. REM can really only happen every night if you are in a calm and dim environment. Quality of sleep will effect your eating habits, your emotional state, your mental stability, and your ability to make rational decisions among other things.

So these are obviously just a few things, but I feel they are important to share. Please feel free to add any and reblog it for those about to enter adulthood.

how to do prom on a budget

Because not everyone can afford to spend a ridiculous amount of money on one high school dance, but that absolutely does not mean that you can’t enjoy your evening to the fullest.

  • Your prom dress definitely does not have to cost several hundred dollars. Amazon.com has some really nice formal dresses, and most of them are in the $50-100 range! (I know there are other websites specifically for discount prom dresses, but in my experience Amazon has better quality and lower prices. Plus prime shipping can be a lifesaver if you’re in a rush.)
  • And if fifty bucks is still out of your price range (and I know that it is for a lot of people), check your local thrift stores. Second-hand prom dresses sell for a fraction of their original price, and they’ve usually only been worn once or twice. Seriously, I got my first prom dress at a thrift store; it was a very pretty, very well-made dress, and I payed $15 for it. Check. Thrift. Stores.
  • Or, if you just don’t like second-hand clothes or if you couldn’t find anything good in the thrift stores, check Ross or a similar store. (Ross is just what we have in my hometown.) They usually stock some formal dresses around prom season, and they’re almost all in the $20-30 range. I’ve gone to formal events in dresses from Ross before, and they hold up really well and look great in pictures.
  • All of the stores I just mentioned are also really good places to get shoes, jewelry, ect. to go with your dress. Even stores like Walmart and Target might be good places to look for shoes, bags, and other accessories. And definitely check your own wardrobe – you might already own stuff that will look good with your dress. (I’ve worn the same pair of heels to, like, three different proms at this point tbh.)
  • Get a dress that fits you well without alterations. Seriously, tailors are so pricey – you’ll probably end up paying several times more for alterations than you did for the dress itself. You’ll save yourself a lot of money if you just buy a dress that already fits and looks good.
  • Do your own hair and makeup. There are approximately two billion “prom hair and makeup” tutorials on YouTube – find one that you like and practice it a couple of times before the big night.
  • And if you aren’t confident enough to do it yourself, call in a friend for help. I’m totally useless when it comes to hair, but my best friend is a hair genius. We would always get ready for dances together, and we’d do a trade-off; she’d do my hair for me, and I’d help her with her makeup, and then we’d both go to the dance looking amazing. It’s a good system, and makes getting ready a lot more fun.
  • Or, if you don’t want to do your own makeup and don’t have a friend you can ask, a lot of department stores that have makeup counters (Macy’s, Belk, ect.) will do free makeovers, even if you don’t buy any of the products! I had a friend in high school who always got her makeup done at Belk for school dances. I don’t like trusting a stranger to do my makeup, but it is an option if you want to get it done professionally without spending a lot of money. (MAC and Sephora both do “free” makeovers, but only if you make a $50 purchase first, so probably not the best option if you’re trying to save money. Always make sure that the makeover service really is free before you sit down in the makeup chair.)
  • Also, you absolutely do not have to wear dramatic makeup or complicated hairstyles to prom if you don’t want to. If bold makeup isn’t your thing, you can just do mascara and a little bit of lip gloss. If you don’t want to spend two hours on your hair, just wear it down, or pin it up in a really simple bun, or whatever works for you. You don’t even have to wear a dress if you don’t want to – if renting a tux is more your speed, then rent a tux. Feeling comfortable and confident in how you look is more important than following trends.

You slowly trudged up the drive, boots unlaced, shoulder bag heavy with spell books and exotic spell ingredient. You didn’t want to be back here, but Kol and Davina were heading somewhere dangerous and until they knew it was safe they didn’t want you to go.

Just a week you told yourself, a week and Stefan would come to get you. You’d met the Salvatore’s in Italy, Damon had taught you the language fluently while Stefan taught you to dance and showed you around the old buildings when Davina and Kol were busy.

“Well look who’s here.” Klaus hummed as soon as you walked in.

“Where’s Rebekah?” You asked as he leant against the wall.

do you ever think about how  jed bartlet went “you know what because of Politics i can’t legally adopt you but to make it unofficially official here’s a family heirloom that i confirm is passed along from father to son for generations, and is already probably worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and now possibly millions since now i’m also the president and it was made for my family by paul revere. And sure I have 3 daughters but I already have a grandson and a son in law but ur my son now u get the carving knife here you go i love you happy thanksgiving give your sister CJ and your brothers Sam, Toby, and Josh a hug before you leave”

I work at Walmart. This week we had to let three associates go because over the course of our last two quarters our losses due to theft more than doubled, and we need to cut costs in the departments these associates worked in. All three of these associates have children; two of them are single parents. If you make a habit of shoplifting from stores because “the company makes billions every year so they can handle a few hundred dollars in losses,” think about that, and think about the lives you’re ruining. We lose our jobs when you do what you do. Don’t pretend it doesn’t affect us.

High Tensions

Reid x reader

“Guys I’m out. Going without sex or orgasms for this long is not worth a grand or the bragging rights in my opinion,” Emily handed her two hundred dollars to Derek with a defeated look on her face. “Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a very handsome fella over there that just offered to buy me a drink. I’m fairly certain he’s gonna be taking me home tonight.” She downed her drink before sauntering across the dance floor to where a dusky haired male had been sat intently watching her for the last hour.

“So it’s just Y/N and Pretty Boy left,” Derek grinned at the pair of you, adding the money to the envelope already containing his own and Garcia’s buy outs.

“You just wanna give in now Y/N?” Spencer looked over at you, a smirk on his face.

“Nope. I’ve got this. I can beat you. I will prove that guys need sexual intimacy more than girls.”

“Oh Y/N come on. We knew it was a long shot any of us beating Reid, but if it was gonna be any of us then it was going to be Prentiss just because of her sheer determination. Just give in now, I saw you eyeing up that bartender.” Morgan raised his eyes at you, glancing over to where the hot bartender was leant over restocking the chillers. Oh my, he had a nice ass. You could definitely sink your teeth into that. You’d bet he had something nice he could sink into you as well.

Reid shifted in his chair, following your glance and leaning into you whispering, “Do it, do it, do it.“

You punched him on the arm, glaring at him.

“You’re not helping Spencer.”

“I’m not meant to be helping, I’m trying to win here. Plus, which one of you was it that paid that escort to come on to me when we first started this little bet?”

“No idea what you’re talking about,” you averted your gaze to the ceiling.

What? It had been the only way you’d initially thought any of you could beat Reid.

Now it’s not like you were suggesting that the only way he could get laid was with a hooker. In fact when this whole thing had started you’d been as surprised as the rest of the team when Spencer had wanted in, you’d all kinda assumed he was a virgin, shocked when he’d revealed that actually his numbers were not that far below your own.

You’d just thought that if you could crack him first, then the rest of them would be easy pickings. So you may have contacted a local escort agency. May have suggested she come on to your friend and colleague and just pretend she’d noticed him across the room. May have offered to pick up the tab for whatever else happened afterwards.

Yet Spencer had recognised her as someone the team had questioned in a local case before you’d joined the team.

This had all started three months ago when Garcia had shown you all that ridiculous story of the 27 year old sex addict who gone along to a group therapy meeting, only for it to end up turning into an orgy.

You’d all laughed finding it hilarious initially until Emily had said, “And let me guess. It’s a man.”

“What makes you assume it would be a guy?”  Derek had been offended on behalf of his gender.

“Statistically speaking it is more likely to be a male. Only 12 percent of women have openly admitted to actually being addicted to sexual activities,” the genius of the group had pointed out.

“Yeah but for it to turn into an orgy there had to have been some women in that group right. Other wise wouldn’t it have just been a load of guys beating themselves off together,” Derek stated.

“I agree with that. There had to have been some women there right? But you can bet it was the men that initiated it. Women find it easier to take care of their own needs without guys, whereas men prefer to have their needs taken care off by another person.” Emily’s come back had had you shaking your head, just waiting for Reid’s next comment.

“Actually, that’s not true either. Studies show that men and women have pretty much the same statistical preference when it comes to either engaging in intercourse with another person or masturbating alone. Around 65 percent of both sexes prefer sex with someone else as opposed to doing it alone.”

“And where do you stand on that preference Spencer?” You saw an evil glint in Derek’s eyes, him spotting an opportunity to make Reid feel uncomfortable.

“Depends what mood I’m in. If I’m feeling lazy then I’ll do it myself. If not then, I find someone to assist and to share pleasure with.”

You’d all turned to stare at him then, everyone’s jaws dropping.

“I’m not a virgin you know. Just cos I don’t come into work bragging about who I spent the weekend doing like Morgan or Emily do, doesn’t mean I’m not actually doing it.”

“Nicely said my friend, nicely said,” you held up your hand to him and he high fived it, a slight grin on his face.

“Hey, what about Y/N? She does it too. We all watched her walk of shame the other week,” Morgan looked directly at you and you shrugged.

“I don’t go into explicit detail like you though. And neither does Garcia.”

“Yet you two were happily discussing what new ‘toys’ you’d bought the other week.“

"What’s your point Morgan?” You were failing to see where this conversation was going.

“I just don’t like the assumption that it had to have been a guy, who initiated the orgy. Women are just as into sex as men.”

“Yes we are my handsome chocolate muffin, but I bet we could go longer without it,” Garcia patted Derek’s arm before looking around at the rest of you. You were all sat at around JJ’s desk, minus Rossi and Hotch who were at a lecture off site.

“You’re on then,” Morgan offered his hand out to Penelope who just gawked at it confused.

“On?”

“Yep. Because I don’t think you could. So we’ll have a wager shall we. Which one of us can go the longest without any sexual activity.”

Penelope thought for a second before declaring, "I’m in. If these guys are.“

And so your little bet was born. You’d all agreed to be 100 percent honest with each other, and although you’d agreed never to profile each other, this was the one and only time you’d all allow it.

The rules were clarified, no sexual activity with another person and no self relief. Kissing would be allowed, but nothing further than that. The stake was set. Two hundred dollars from each of you, the winner taking the pot as well as bragging rights.

“Just to check…… Is this just sex with a member of the opposite sex? Or are we saying that all sex is off the table?” Both Spencer and Derek’s heads quickly turned in your direction, and you spotted a smirk on Emily’s face.

“All sex, regardless of gender….. But when this is over, please feel free to have as much girl on girl action as you like and to fill me in in explicit detail.”

“Haha not a chance Derek, what me and my lady friends get up to, stays between us,” you replied hearing him groan.

Penelope had been the first to cave only four weeks in. She and Kevin had been on a break when the bet was originally made, but now they were back together. She walked into work one sunny morning, an even brighter smile than usual across her face and a floral scarf round her neck despite the rising temperature.

She’d taken one look at us all staring at her quizzically before digging into her purse and pulling out four fifty dollar bills, sheepishly handing them over.

Derek had lasted another five weeks, him becoming increasingly cranky at work. It was hilarious watching him shifting uncomfortably whenever Garcia discussed her previous nights antics with Kevin.

Emily had suggested that you both wear skirts to the office the following day in order to break him, and so you both rocked up in tight fitting A line skirts with long slits up the side, finding every reason possible to have to bend over in front of him.

By the time he’d left for the day you’d both been certain he was going to explode. He sent a group text four hours later, a photo of himself lying next to a hot redhead.

And now three weeks after that Prentiss had declared defeat and from your view across the room it looked very much like she’d be getting her fix within a matter of hours.

You really wanted to win this, but you were also very, very frustrated. Sure you could cheat and go home and browse through a few choice videos on porn hub whilst having a good old intimate chat with your friend Ryan (Reynolds not Gosling, yes you’d named your rabbit. What of it?) but you knew you wouldn’t be able to hide it from the rest of the team the next day. As good a profiler you were, you were a horrendous liar when it came to personal matters.

But now it was down to you and Spencer…….and although the boy wonder had surprised everyone with his confession that he wasn’t a virgin and actually had had an arrangement with a bartender he’d met on a case, he’d already gone eight months without it and didn’t appear to be struggling at all.

Where as you weren’t used to going a few days without at least having a chat with Ryan. Poor old neglected Ryan, gathering dust in the back of your drawer. You’d make it up to him when this was over, maybe even buy him a friend to keep him company.

An idea sprung to mind,“Guys what if this was a draw?"

"What so you both admit defeat now together. That’s no fun. If you do that then it doesn’t prove anything,” Morgan shook his head at you.

“Oh come on, we’re long past making a point now.”

Garcia’s eyes suddenly lit up and she pulled Derek to her, whispering excitedly into his ear, a grin spreading over his face.

“Baby Girl I love it. But they are so not going to go for it.”

Spencer’s eyes narrowed at them, “Go For what exactly.”

“Trust me kid, what she’s suggesting is way out of your comfort zone. No way will you be down for it. Y/N maybe but not you. You just don’t got it in you Kid.”

“Haven’t got what in me?”

You watched the two of them wondering what the hell was running through their sadistic little minds.

“Penelope was suggesting that we change the bet now it’s just you two left…..And instead it becomes a contest to see which one of you can break the other.”

“Break the other? Why would I want to break Y/N? What would I even be breaking, I don’t understand.”

You did, you knew exactly what they were getting at. But you weren’t going to say anything….. Yet.

“Break her newly regrown hymen Reid,” Derek chuckled.

“Hymens don’t regrow, that’s a myth. It doesn’t matter how long a woman goes without sex it doesn’t grow………… Wait what?” he spluttered as his brain finally processed what Derek and Garcia were suggesting.

They fell apart laughing.

But…… It wasn’t actually a bad idea. And it would be seriously fun. You’d formed a friendship outside of work with Reid, but that definitely didn’t stop you thinking he was hot. And watching him getting flustered was the most adorable thing ever. And it would save you having to go out and find someone to fuck when the was all over. You could remain professional at work. It would just be sex after all.

“How would that even work? Like I have to convince Y/N to go to bed with me? Or she convinces me to go with her?” Reid interrupted their laughing and your train of thought and now it was your turn to exclaim.

“Wait what?"

"Essentially yes,” Morgan clarified when he’d regained his composure.

You and Reid looked at each other, each wondering what the other was thinking.

“Oh guys, it’s no secret that you two like each other. That night we played truth or dare….. You both admitted it and we’ve been waiting patiently for something to happen between you…. But you’re not giving us anything!”

Ugh, you’d drank so much that night it was a wonder your liver had not demanded removal from your body. And you’d been so embarrassed the next day when you recalled some of the questions you’d been made to answer, but also pleasantly surprised at some of the answers Spencer had given. But nothing had ever come of you admitting your mutual attraction to each other.

“So would we actually have to do the deed with each other? Or just get the other to admit that they wanted to? And how would you know which one of us won?”

“Either one is good with us, although of course you actually doing it would be mutually beneficial…. Especially after all this pent up sexual tension. And we’d just have to rely on you being honest with us.”

You took a deep breath turning to your friend. Were you going to regret asking this?

“What do you think Spencer? Think you can wear me down? I’m game if you are.”

He looked thoughtful for a moment.

“You know what, I think I can.”

I Insist (Lin/Reader)

Prompt: This wasn’t actually a requested prompt, it was just something Taylor and I (@secretschuylersister ) kind of came up with last night. We were talking about how Lin was such a good guy and would almost comically go out of his way to continue to be a good guy even after the smallest of mistakes. And this was born.

Author’s Note: I have a friend who lives in the heights (actually a few) who I visit relatively often. Since its gentrification began, it’s a pretty quiet neighborhood. Literally every family I know who lives up there (except for one) is white and has a child under age 10. The non-white family also has a child under age ten. Quiet neighborhood.

This plot also kind of came from the fact that, when I get like mega-rich, giving an insanely large tip to a waiter/waitress is something I intend on doing pretty frequently.

Pairing: Lin-Manuel Miranda/Reader

Summary: You’re a waitress working the night shift. A friendly man comes in one night, sits alone, writes beside a few cups of coffee, and leaves without tipping. You hope to never see him again, but he returns the next night.

Rating: PG for like one minor curse word.

You know the reason The Beatles made it so big?…‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand.’ First single. Fucking brilliant. Perhaps the most fucking brilliant song ever written. Because they nailed it. That’s what everyone wants. Not 24/7 hot wet sex. Not a marriage that lasts a hundred years. Not a Porsche…or a million-dollar crib. No. They wanna hold your hand. They have such a feeling that they can’t hide. Every single successful song of the past fifty years can be traced back to ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand.’ And every single successful love story has those unbearable and unbearably exciting moments of hand-holding.

He loves to talk, but not all the time. He tells me that talking doesn’t mean anything unless it’s worth ruining perfect silence. Most people, he says, waste their breath on everything that means nothing. But he likes when I talk. About the people in the coffee shop, and old cities I wish I’d been to, and which constellations I like best. About anything, really. We talk until the sun rises, and then we sleep all day. And we sing loudly when our favorite songs come on the radio, and we let our hands drift out the window like soaring birds, and we live. God, we live. Like addicts, and nomads, and kids with wicked minds and screaming hearts. Half the time we don’t know what day it is, but we don’t care. Because his bed feels the same on Monday and Thursday and Saturday, too. And we eat when our stomachs grow too loud, and we press close when we can’t pay the electricity bill, and we learn that sometimes what is perfect and what is enough live oceans away from each other.
But when enough becomes too little and we don’t even have our two pennies to rub together, he performs on the street with an upturned top hat at his feet. Old, bluesy songs about wild girls and townie boys. And even though his voice is only ok, with cracks in all the important parts, people see his long hair and his big smile, and they stop to watch with enormous eyes. Look, they point: a boy who never learned how to worry playing at maturity, his face bent over a guitar, long fingers threading the strings. They stand on the streets, a cigarette break from their white collar routine, and see in him some other life. Some different path. They see themselves, a little happier, a little louder, a little more carefree. The kind ones wish him well as dollar bills float from their hands. Fives and tens and twenties from those who would do everything differently if they had another shot. One man with a fading ring tan above his left knuckle gives him a crisp hundred dollar bill, his face lost in thoughts of what might have been. Transparent. He’s like that with people: prying them open without even trying. He sees through them, and you, and even me. Especially me.
We lay in bed that night surrounded by paper that will only pay a fraction of our bills, but we laugh like we’ve won the goddamn lottery. Laugh so hard we can barely breath. I laugh until I cry, and he holds me in his hands and tells me that when he has the money, he’ll buy me a ring and make this whole shindig official. My voice raw with tears, I tell him he better.
And he has the warmest hands with callouses on all the fingertips, which I don’t think anyone else knows. Not like I know. Not like they feel them against their palm and cheek and thigh in the middle of the night. I like that I hold a million tiny fragments of him that no one else has even touched. Like he calls his sister twice a week to make sure she’s not using again, and he only watches scary movies because they make my blood flow faster, and he’s an all consuming, thousand-watt, stars in his eyes kind of person. The kind people want to be around without ever knowing why. The kind who tells you he loves you and really means it.
He only says it sometimes. When it’s just us two and the perfect silence is worth being broken. And I trace road maps across the skin of his back, and I wonder. I wonder what I did to deserve all this. The affection, and the easy smiles, and the list of kid names we like tucked away in his desk drawer. Shuffled between coins and nicotine gum. And then his breath is heavy in my hair. I never fall asleep before him because I don’t know how to stop thinking. I wonder and I wonder and I wonder how I ever thought I’d be better off on my own. And he pulls me closer. Whispers my name like a promise. All the world stands still for just this moment. And I wonder how a person- one single, broken person- can come along and make so much sense.
—  I hope you find this kind of love, and I hope you never let it go.

“I never thought I’d see the day where Tony is losing money instead of gaining it,” Clint walked into Tony’s lab.

“We’re not talking about it,” Tony grumbled.

Clint tried to hold in his laughter when he saw the statistics on his computer. The number was dropping by thousands in a matter of seconds. Tony didn’t know how to fix it, and he had no idea why everything was dropping. He never spends this much money at once, and he knows how to invest, why was it going down?

He called Pepper to see if there were any problems he didn’t know about, and when even she was freaking out, he knew this problem was far above them. Something was going on behind the scenes that he didn’t know about, and he had no idea how to solve it. “I don’t just lose money. And if I do, it’s definitely not that fast.”

“I’ll check with Natasha, she might have an idea of what might be happening,” Clint suggested and walked out.

“FRIDAY,” Tony started, “Do you have the report yet?”

“Yes, sir,” FRIDAY began, “There seems to be tampering on the-”

Hi everyone! Here I come with a new Harry story. I really liked writing this one so, hopefully, you all like it as well.

Before getting into the story I wanted you to know REQUESTS ARE OPEN! however, It’ll take me a bit of time writing them (I don’t have as much free time as on holidays)

Nothing else just… Enjoy!!! :)

Harry and I laid on the garden’s ground, doing nothing but enjoying the serenity of the evening. As time went by, the sun got closer and closer to the horizon, leaving behind a wide range of warm colours, revealing a lovely landscape in front of us.

Doing this was something common in us, we would always spend the last summer evenings in the backyard realising how lucky we were to get to see such a beautiful phenomenon everyday.

The soft currents of air hit on our faces, giving a pleasing tickle on them and making the situation inviting to fall asleep. I turned to the side staring at him. His eyes were shut, hiding his green orbs, lips parted and chest lifting up and down in a calm pace, he was asleep.

I loved the way he looked when he was lost in his dreams, like if nothing could worry or torture him at all.

The stare didn’t last long, as he suddenly opened his eyes, without previous expectation “What are you smiling at, love?” “Harry, you scared me! Weren’t you sleeping?” he chuckled at my reaction “Well yeah, or at least trying so… but the feeling of your eyes on me wouldn’t let me” I bit my lip in embarrassment, moving my eyes away from his “Sorry” “No, don’t be sorry. I love it when I have your eyes on me” “Why?” he picked me by the chin and made me lock eyes with him “Because I can see love in them” that, and a kiss on the forehead were enough to make me feel an inner butterfly explosion “Just love for you” he delicately brushed my lips with his pads before placing a kiss on them.

After some minutes of peaceful silence, enjoying the warmth his body radiated, I heard the groan of his stomach begging for food. The awkward cough he let out to hide it made me laugh “Some cutie hungry out there?” “Mee” “Any suggestions on what to eat?” He shrugged, before answering “Dunno, whatever… the last one to get in the kitchen cooks!” Between childlike chuckles he stood up and ran towards the inside of the house, throwing some soil at me in the process “Hey you little cheater, wait!”

* Few days later *

Harry’s POV:

“… Here you have another type of ring, it’s the most demanded between many women” the shop assistant placed a shiny diamond ring in front of me “It’s really beautiful, but it seems to be quite expensive” “Well, compared to others it’s not that expensive but… sure it isn’t the cheapest of all” “How much?” “Six hundred dollars” my eyes opened wide but I tried my best to play it cool “Mmm, how about something a bit cheaper?” She nodded, walking to the next one “Here we have… ” I stopped listening when I spotted a simple but at the same time nice ring, that was definitely the one “Sorry for interrupting you, but I’ve just found the perfect one” “Oh, which one?” I smiled pointed at it “Uh, are you sure you want that one? I can show you others way more elaborated” I shook my head “No, it isn’t necessary thanks, I know that’s the one” she finally gave up her attempt to change my mind “Okay, come with me then”

***

From the moment I stepped out of the store onwards, I couldn’t think of anything else than in the events about to occur that same night: the setting of the situation, the nervousness my words would be filled of, her reaction, and the most important part, her answer. The idea of taking this step had been wandering around my mind for a long time. I knew she was the only thing I wanted to wake up to the rest of my life, her voice was the only thing I wanted to hear during our late night conversations, her characteristic clumsiness was the only thing I wanted to laugh to; but the fear and insecurity made me back down, until today.

I ran every of the errands Jess left me enthusiastically, dancing and singing all around the house, I was on cloud nine.

When I was about to move on to the other task the doorbell rang. At the other side of the door a young postman awaited me “Hi, may I help you?” “Good morning, is this Harry Styles?” I nodded “This is for you” He said, handing me a white envelope. I furrowed my eyebrows at the sight of it, I definitely wasn’t expecting anything like that. I tried to see who the emitter was but the only thing written on it was my name and address  “What’s this?” “I don’t know, but it seems like something important, my boss told me to give it to you in hand. Could you sign here please, I’ve got more work ahead” His comment made me come out from my wondering “Yeah, sorry” “Thank you”

I sat on the sofa, envelope in hand. Just one possible emitter came up to my mind, and I prayed for it not be the one. My hands began to slightly shake, and an uncomfortable sensation settled in my chest. Something inside me told me nothing would be the same after opening it, and that was what scared me the most, I had never had that feeling.

‘You can’t be like this forever’ I told myself before opening the envelop, worry intensifying as I revealed more of the paper contained.

‘Appreciated Mr. Styles,

My duty as Colonel of the United States Army is to make you aware our country needs your support.

We demand all our best soldiers to seek for our nation’s protection.

As a consequence we recruit you, Mr. Harry Edward Styles to fight for United States’ sake.

As you must know, you applied voluntarily for the army, therefore, you have no chance to refuse, it is a soldier’s duty and a fact that had to be taken into account before having decided to make such an important decision.

The duration of the mission is undefined.

The date of departure will be the 16th of September at eight o'clock in the morning. An official army bus will pick you up that day and time.

Yours Faithfully,

Colonel of the United States Army.’

As I read every word inked in the paper, the previous bliss I felt went away completely, this being replaced by a mixture of worry and outrage, outrage for my foolishness back when I applied for it. I noticed how tears began forming at the back of my eyes, making my vision blurry, I wiped them off sloppily and read the letter once again and again trying to find anything on it revealing it all had been a joke, but as time disappeared, my hopes did as well.

I let out a long sigh, throwing the paper away, and bringing my eyes to the picture of Jess that decorated the wall. Today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life and I was going to spoil it telling her I was leaving, without being certain whether I was coming back or not. That wasn’t fair, she deserved someone who could be by her side, not me.

The problem was I was too selfish to let her go.

***

“Curly, I’m home!” The sound of her voice brought me back to reality, an awful reality. I brushed my face with my hands, trying to take it as easy as possible and have the best look so she didn’t notice the upcoming news, when she walked into the living room with her bright smile, I found it pretty hard not to feel a stab of pain “Hey love, how was your day?” She collapsed on the couch and I gave her a gentle kiss, she then searched for my embrace “Good, as always. What about you?” "The usual, nothing out of the ordinary” she looked up to me with loving eyes, nuzzling into my neck and spreading kisses all over it “You have no idea how much I wanted the day to end, I just looked forward cuddling like this” she gave me a deeper kiss and I felt a bitter sensation on my chest, that was going to be one of our last kisses before my departure. When she pulled away with a frown drawn on her face, a lump made its home in my throat “Hazz, is everything okay?” There was a silence, my head hung low. I wasn’t able to pronounce a thing and the soft brush of her fingers on me didn’t do any better “Honey, I know you the best, you’re worried about something, it’s obvious. Please tell me so I can help you”

Just more silence.

Her frown disappeared only to be replaced by a earnest stare “Harry, what the hell is happening”

This was the moment.

Jessica’s POV:

The uncomfortable feeling in the upper part of my stomach grew and grew wider with his silence. Usually, when Harry had to tell something he just went straight at it and didn’t create this much tension, right now he was doing exactly the opposite, which meant the thing wasn’t any good. I looked down at his hands, they were intertwined and rubbed nervously against each other.

The heartbreaking look he gave me when he raised his head shattered me into thousands of pieces.

“You know before we knew each other I applied for the army, right?”

“Uhm… Yeah"

“Today a guy brought me a letter… from the army… it said-”

“No… Harry please no” I interrupted him, knowing since that precise moment what his next words were going to be. He couldn’t do more than facing downwards “I’m so sorry…” Suddenly I felt out of breath, a heavy weight in my chest oppressed me. I noticed that hideous itching in my nose which showed up only when I was about to cry “No Harry. No, no, no! Please tell me this is a prank, where’s the camera? Harry tell me this is whatever you want but don’t you dare to tell me this is true” his sorrowful gaze intensified more as he said his next words “Jess, this is real… I’m leaving tomorrow” I couldn’t hold my tears anymore, he immediately wrapped his arms around me and whispered soothing words to my ear “Shh love, we’ll make it through this, don’t cry please, it breaks my heart, you don’t know how much It does” and although I knew he tried to calm me down, his words only made me cry more.

What was going to happen since this? Was I going to see the love of my life again? How was I going to carry on without him? A bunch of questions came to my mind and increased my worry. “Harry, I’m so afraid, I don’t want to lose you” he moved from the couch and squatted in front of me, holding my hand tightly “Baby, you don’t have to fear anything. Everything’s gonna be okay, you’re not going to lose me, I promise” he delicately kissed the back of my hand, looking straight at my eyes “C’mon Harry, you know that isn’t true, in the war nothing’s certain, once you’re there you don’t know what will happen next” more tears streamed down my face “Listen to me, when I say I swear I’m coming back, I mean it. I don’t care if that’s the last thing I do in my entire life” The confidence and determination in his words eased my state and gave me that glint of hope I needed, he always fulfilled his promises after all.

He got up and offered me his hand “Get up” I did as he said “Okay, this wasn’t the way I planned it. I wanted this night to be the one you remembered as the happiest of your life not the saddest” I tilted my head in confusion “Jess, six years ago, I didn’t know what love was, nor I believed in it; six years ago, I couldn’t figure myself head over heels for someone; six years ago I didn’t know what having a home was… six years ago I didn’t have you. A year later, I spotted a cute lost girl in the middle of the station and something today still unknown told me ‘Why don’t you go and help her?’ I did so, and when you looked at me with those naive eyes, I knew you were coming into my life to change it completely… I was right” he made a pause, trying not to let his emotions get through the speech “Even though you knew my past wasn’t a good one, you didn’t stop seeing me as something way better than the piece of shit I was, you helped me find the real inner me, you made me a better person… you… saved me” his deep voice dimmed as he said his last words, I knew he was reminiscing those times. I gently tucked some strands of his hair on his ear, trying to bring him back to reality. He kneeled down and opened a small box he got out from his back pocket, revealing the most beautiful ring I had ever seen “I know it isn’t the best moment to ask this but… will you marry me?” A broad smile drew in my face as I went down to the floor and kissed him intensely, breathing out against his lips “Of course I’ll marry you” his eyes brightened. He cupped my face and brought his lips against mine again, moving slowly in sync. My heartbeat rose with every single brush; this kiss was meaningful, with it he established his promise of coming back “Love, with this ring I swear to you I’ll fight with all my strength to come back. I’ll be here to make you my wife and be by your side forever, okay?” “Okay.”

Harry’s POV:

We got lost in our orbs. Jess’ chocolate eyes were still swollen due to all the tears, yet she looked like an angel.

I didn’t want to believe that was one of the last opportunities I had to see the glisten of her gaze before leaving for a long time.

She picked my hand in a warm, soft grip “This is going to be so hard” another time tears began forming in her eyes “Don’t cry, I hate to see you like this” I placed a kiss on her wet pomule, moving to her cheek. My lips slowly dragged from there and ended up on hers, brushing but not reaching the kiss. She closed her eyes and sighed at the feeling, squeezing my sides “Please…” her cinnamon scent hit me, creating a sea of lumps in my stomach. I cupped her cheek with one hand, while the other brought her closer. The kiss was needy, we tried to get the most of each other, feel all the love expressed with it.

As it got more intense a bunch of images came to my mind; the morning kisses I used to steal taking advantage she was asleep, the secret touches we would share before anyone knew about our relationship, the days we used to spend sprawled in bed, sharing our deepest thoughts; the moments of mutual support…  all that now had to be kept under lock and key in my memories.

The familiar taste of the kiss contained a new ingredient: sadness; at one point I was able to notice a tear slip into it.

Her lips felt so damn good it was painful.

When air began to lack, we pulled away and rested our foreheads against each other. Her hot breath fanned over my lips and with her hands she traced figures over my chest, beneath my shirt, making small shivers travel down my spine.

In that moment I realised I needed to make her feel loved one last time before I left. I wanted to prove my commitment and leave her clear she was the one thing I was going to fight for.

But before I could say a thing she let out a faint whisper “Harry, make love to me. Prove me you mean it when you say you’ll fight to come back”

And so I did.

I grabbed her hand and kissed its back, meeting her gaze, and lifting us up. I brushed the little facial hair I had against it, tickling the area and provoking ethereal giggles come out of her mouth, which made me smile “C’mere” she said, I brought my lips to hers and they danced along at a slow, sensual rhythm.

I captured every single brush in my mind, I was going to miss her so much…

Her hands travelled from my back up to my hair, tugging delicately at it, and making the hair on my arms rise. I broke the kiss trailing all the way of her neck, breathing in her scent. She let out a whimper when I placed a wet kiss on her soft spot, and a gasp when I cupped the back of her thighs to wrap her legs around me, carrying her to the bedroom.

Once there I sat her carefully in the middle of the mattress, like the valuable treasure she was. I crawled to meet her and admired the blessing I had right in front of my eyes, looking back at me with the same admiration. She sat on her knees and moved upwards to leave a chaste kiss on my forehead, moving away just to pull the hem of my shirt upwards and get rid of it. I breathed out a “You’re so beautiful” and she began tracing the figures inked on my skin, leaving a kiss on them when she finished. I let out a long sigh and threw my head back, enjoying the feeling of her plump lips exploring my chest in the sweetest way.

During her journey down my torso she came across the scar which laid upon on one of my sides. She stared at it, finally spreading kisses over it “I love you”. That pecks she left on my scar, which was the mark of a dark past, a past she shed a light on, reminded me of the many scars she helped me heal, I’m not talking only about the physical ones but the ones of the soul as well.

I unbuttoned her shirt slowly, I didn’t have any rush, this was about expressing all our feelings without words and we needed to take our time. Once her piece of cloth was removed and laid next to mine, I attached my lips to her chest, as I unclasped her bra. I had to feel her against me. We both moaned at the contact, as she straddled me. I placed my hands around her waist and brushed my lips against her collarbone, travelling down the valley of her breasts as she whimpered closing her eyes “H- Harry, kiss me” I looked up to her and remembered that very first time we kissed. It was the most clumsy yet adorable moment ever. She tried to make the first movement but completely failed. I still can make out the moment when she turned around and walked to me with really determined steps just to end up tripping and falling on my arms. She radiated shame and her cheeks were beyond red. In that moment I realised she was the most beautiful person in planet Earth, so I moved my head downwards and kissed her.

I did the same this time, obeying her orders. This one had more passion, our mouths fought against each other, our hands roamed all over our bodies. I moved forward laying her on her back and now I was the one hovering. I unbuttoned her jeans and left feather kisses on the smooth skin of her hips and legs as I slid them down, following I got rid of mine.

Now the only barrier among us was our underwear.

As my eyes travelled up her body I met her slightly red cheeks. I brushed my pads against them and let out a snicker. That blush made me reminisce the most magical experience in my life: our first time. I was the first person to touch her, to see her in her most vulnerable state. She was genuinely nervous and, when she tried to cover the beauty of her innocent body from my gaze, I felt I could burst right there in fondness. That night I didn’t do anything else that whispering sweet nothings to her ear to make her feel comfortable and safe between my arms. “So many years since the first time but you still blush… I love you so much” I nuzzled my head on her neck, sucking on her soft spot, the moan she let out sounded like heaven for me. I slided down to her breasts, paying attention to both of them, I craved for hearing that sound again. As I got lower I noticed she was ready for what we both desired so much. I looked to her and she nodded, allowing me to slide her last piece of cloth, looking directly at her eyes, following, I did the same with mine.

We both moaned at the feeling, not only because of being body against body but soul against soul. “Hold on love, let me get your necklace out” She frowned as I undid the clasp “I just want you to wear the ring while doing this”

“I love you”

“I love you too.”

And with that we connected our bodies, becoming one.

The room filled with our moans, tender touches and specially, love.

Jessica’s POV:

Sunrise.

The sun was rising, which meant there were only a few hours left before Harry’s departure.

I woke up not noticing anything beside me, which made me open my eyes instantly, did I sleep in and he left without saying goodbye? I got out of bed and reached for one of harry’s sweatshirts, rushing downstairs “Harry?” there was no answer “Harry?!” the same as before, I ran searching for him in all the rooms the house had, until I found his slightly bowed figure looking at the landscape our garden led to. I let out a long breath in relief, the hideous feeling leaving my stomach. “Hey, I didn’t find you anywhere, I was afraid you left without saying goodbye” he turned around to see me “Morning beautiful. I’ve been here all the time, I’d never do that to you” “What time is it?” “Seven“ “Only an hour left” “yeah…” we didn’t say anything else, the both of us staring at the rays of sun which gradually showed up from the horizon.

“I’ll write you whenever I have the opportunity” I smiled, looking down to my jewelled finger “Couldn’t wait longer to hear those words” he threw his arm across my back and brought me closer to him “I’m very proud of you” “Why?” “Because you’re taking this the best way. I knew you were strong, but this has left me with no words” I grinned “At first I didn’t process it the best way, but who would? I mean it’s hard to listen your boyfriend-” “Now fiancé” he corrected me, making me let out a loud laugh “Excuse me sir, as I was saying, it’s hard to listen from your fiancé he is going to the war for an unknown period of time. But you promised you were coming back and I fully trust in you… besides it’s not use to freak about this, it wouldn’t change a thing, would it?” “No, and that’s why I love you baby, you are the most mature woman I’ve ever met” I smiled, resting my head on his shoulder.

The sound of the doorbell made us automatically intertwine hands “It’s the time” I sadly nodded. We walked to the door, once we opened it a tall middle aged man stood in front of us “Good morning, I’m Colonel Franklin Western, I’ve come to pick up soldier Mr. Harry Styles” “Yeah, that’s me. Could you give me a minute?” “I will be waiting for you in the bus, don’t take too long please” “Thanks” Harry turned to face me “I love you, I love you endlessly, please don’t forget it. I’ll be back I promise. I’ll be back to make you my wife and to be by your side forever. I’ll fight for you, okay?” I nodded as a lump settled in my throat “Harry I’ll wait for you, even if it’s for a thousand years, when you come back I’ll be right here with my arms wide opened” he kissed me, that was going to be our last kiss for a while. I got the most of the moment, to remember the sensation of his lips against mine for as much time as I could. Our heavy breaths fanned against each other’s lips. I brought my hands to the clasp of my necklace undoing it “Take it with you okay? As a reminder that I’m with you, no matter we’re oceans away” He gave me warm smile as I placed it on him “See you soon Jess” “See you soon Harry”.

* A year later*

“Jess, I’ve just seen the postman, should we go and check?” My best friend Zoey said “What are we waiting for?” Every time the postman appeared I ran to the postbox in attempt to find a letter from Harry. After a whole year I haven’t received anything from him, yet I believed he was fighting to get back to me. I picked the lot of letters and searched for his one, I didn’t find anything. “Nothing… there’s nothing!” Disappointment was the only thing I could feel at that moment, but as I said before, after a year without news from him I got used to the feeling “Uhm Jess, I think you haven’t looked well enough…” “What do you mean?” “There’s one letter left” I frowned and looked inside, a white envelope appeared on my vision “It must be another bill…” “Well, why don’t you pick it and see?” I introduced my hand and picked it, my fingers covered the emitter. For an unknown reason I felt very nervous “Jess, move your hand so you can see who is it from" “I know Zoe but… I’m nervous” “Oh C'mon Jess!” She laughed and took it from my hand, once she read what was written the giggles stopped “Uhm here you have Jess” ‘From: Soldier Harry Edward Styles’ “Oh my… Zoey!” I covered my mouth with my hands and began to shake “Jess are you shaking?” “H- he’s alive… He’s alive!” I shouted “I knew he was going to keep his promise!” I hugged my brunette friend “Let’s get in so you can read it” we walked towards the house “ I’ll leave you some time to read it in private. I’ll prepare us something to eat” “Thanks, You’re the best friend ever” She smiled “Yeah yeah, now go and read that fluffy letter” While I made my way to the garden I felt how nervousness took control of my body. Once there I opened it quickly, I took a deep breath, preparing myself for his words:

'Monday 7th of September

Love,

It’s been a year since I left, and I’m here writing you this letter, I’m keeping my promise!

You haven’t got any idea of how much I miss you baby, I know you do too.

I’ve written you a bunch of letters during all this time but I think you haven’t received any of them because there’s been no answer back from you. I understand it, the colonel told us of a hundred letters sent, twenty only reach their destinations, I hope i’m lucky this time and you get to read this.

Things here are being hard, not gonna lie, but the thought of one day coming back home to you and our bright future helps me take this as easy as the situación allows it.

I want to mention that I dream of you every single night, imagining I’m in front of you admiring how good you look on your wedding dress, staring at your eyes and listening those words I’m yearning to hear from you “I do”.

Before I go to sleep and when I wake up I kiss the necklace you gave me. I feel somehow I’m kissing you, although it’s way too far from being that.

I’ve made some friends here, their names are Louis, Liam and Niall. During this time we’ve had the opportunity to get to know our stories, they all have something to fight for and they work hard everyday to reach their purposes. We all take care of each other. I was wondering if you’re okay with them attending our wedding, they’re very nice lads and we’ve grown really strong bonds.

As I assume you’ve never received any of my previous letters, you must be very worried and even have started to think I wasn’t able to keep my promise. If this letter reaches you I want you to stop thinking that way because I’m alive and giving my everything.

If you receive this reply me, I need to read how you’re feeling.

Stay strong, please.

I love you, always,

Hazz’

As I read the letter I felt a great relief. His words made me renew my hope. I ran to the studio to write another one as a reply for him, placing on it all the feelings I got to experiment during all that awful year.

*6 months later *

The rays of sunlight hitting on my face made me wake up from my deep sleep, I snuggled in the pillow that replaced Harry’s body. Breathing in his fresh scent as if he was right there, probably because of the shirt I was wearing, which was his. I brought the pillow closer to me noticing it was harder than usual “What’s this?” I frowned propping myself up “Morning baby!” I opened my eyes wide, being unable to pronounce any word “Hey, are you okay?” The bewilderment didn’t let me say a thing “I-I-I… Harry!!!” I immediately hugged him as tears of happiness slid down my cheeks. He opened his arms taking me into the embrace “God I missed you so much… I can’t believe I’m here” he broke the hug and began spreading kisses all over my face and neck as I giggled. I straddled him and went to tug at his curls, finding there were none “Where’s your hair?” He laughed “I had to cut it, they didn’t allow anyone to have a longer hair than this one” he pointed his brand new haircut “Oh, I’ll miss your curls… but I have nothing against this one, looks really good on you” he chuckled, and the sound made shivers travel down my spine, how I missed his voice, his touch, everything about him. “This year and a half has been the hardest in my life. Not knowing how you were or felt killed me everyday” he moved his head downwards his face ending in contact with my chest “Baby I know, I’ve felt that way too… but now you’re here, with me, we don’t have any reason to be sad anymore” I wrapped my arms around him and held him tightly “Ouch!” he whimpered in pain “What?” “I’ve got some bruises on my chest” I moved away and got rid of his shirt. His chest was stained with purple spots and some scars “Oh Harry” I pushed him down the bed and placed a kiss on every foreign spot in his torso, in attempt to reduce the pain. “Better?” “Yeah…” he answered as he closed his eyes.

I let out a snicker when I saw how his chest lifted and went down with every breath, he was falling asleep. With a raspy voice he said “Let’s continue sleeping, I want to cuddle with my baby” to what I answered “And I want to wrap my arms around you and never let you go” We slid in the covers, closing our eyes. Time after I heard some snores coming out from his mouth, that sound which irritated me before, now made me the happiest woman in the world. Little by little I took off to the land of dreams with him.

He came back… he came back for me, as he promised.

Simple ways to save money as an escort

So this year I made it a priority to get my finances in order, and I wanted to share some ways that I save money. Mostly on things I have to buy for work, but some miscellaneous ones.

-Take public transit to outcalls or to your incall location. Or, save money on expensive uber rides by taking public transit until you get close to your destination, then call an uber. I know some people dont fuck with the subway but this saves me a ton of money. On an outcall the travel fee is 50 dollars, the subway is six, so that’s an extra 45 dollars I can pocket. I don’t do this for private houses, but in a condo or hotel the client will be none the wiser.

-Learn to do your own manicure and pedicure. Easy way to save 35-100 dollars a month. Plus less time wasted going to and from the nail salon. Ditto for basic hair trims, eyebrows etc.

-Costco has cheap condoms and lube, and doesn’t require you to order online and wait for them to ship.

-Take advantage of store loyalty cards, for everything from lingerie to drugstore products. I get about 30 dollars a month cashback at the drugstore.

-Bring snacks and drinks with you, rather then going to starbucks or 7-11 everyday. Even packaged foods at the grocery store usually work out to be cheaper.

-Investing in a cheap tripod for your iphone or camera provides a great way to continually update your pictures, and not have to spend hundreds on photoshoots. Ditto for inviting a friend over and taking turns. With some basic editing and a white background, you can get really nice shots.

-Invest in outwear and clothes that can transition into your real life, like basic black dresses or a nice coat.

-Take care of your lingerie (even if it was cheap) by handwashing. No reason to ruin it in the washer.

-If you have your own incall, buy white sheets and linens that way if they get stained you can bleach them rather then have to throw them out.

*that’s all for now, if I think of more I will add them to this post, feel free to chime in on any ways that you save money*

Waking up in the morning to an empty bed was not how I wanted to start this day out. I wanted to wake up with Jace by my side, a good morning kiss, and a happy birthday. But I’m not surprised to wake up alone. Everything is different now that Clary has showed up.

When she first showed up I felt bad for her. All her life, her mother had lied to her about who she was. Clary had been thrown head first into this world and had her mother taken from her. Like Jace, I wanted to help her, but as the days went on, I started to resent the girl. She didn’t seem to care that we all had rules that needed to be follow, nor did she seem to care that she could end up getting us killed.

Rolling over onto my back, I stare up to the ceiling and let out a loud breath before climbing out of bed and making my way the the bathroom to get ready. I wash my face and brush my teeth before putting on the little makeup that I wore. I knew that I wasn’t a beautiful as Izzy, and I always felt that Jace could do better than me; no matter how many times he told me he loved me. I pulled my Y/H/C hair up into a ponytail, letting the shorter parts of my hair frame my face.

Walking back into the bedroom, I move the the wardrobe and pull out a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a faded black tank top along with some combat boots before making my way to the kitchen. I was hoping that Izzy didn’t make me anything to eat again. How Alec and Jace can  manage to eat her food is beyond me.

Walking into the the kitchen, I find Alec and Izzy in the middle of their breakfasts. When they look up and see me, they both jump up and give me a hug.

“Happy birthday, Y/N!” Izzy says to me before letting me go.

“Yeah, happy birthday, Y/N. Izzy was going to make you some breakfast, but I stopped her.” Alec whispers, but Izzy hears him and turns around to slap his arm. I thankfully grab a box of cereal.

“You know, Y/N, that cereal isn’t good for you. It has a lot of sugar in it.”

“Your point, Alec?” I say to him with a glare, not needing to say anything else.

“Have you seen Jace? He wasn’t in the room when I woke up.”

“Did you check the training room?” Alec suggests.

“No, I came right here. I was hungry. I’ll look there when I finish.”  I fall silent as I listen to Izzy talk about this dress that she saw the other day.

“I’ll go with you to get it, Izzy.” I turn and put my bowl into the sink.

“Really!” Izzy says as she looks over to me.

“Sure, I don’t have anything to do today other than train. We just have to be back by ten. I have a mission to go on with Jace. And I was hoping that you could help me find a new dress. My last one got ruined on my last mission.”

“Sure! Let me go grab my purse, then we can go.”

“Can you grab mine? It’s the one on the desk chair.”

“Yeah, I’ll meet you in the control room.” She walks out of the kitchen.

“Hey, Y/N. I got you something for your birthday.” Alec says as he walks closer to me to hand me an envelope with my name written across it.

“Alec, you didn’t have to!” I smile as I look up to him. I open up the envelope and pull out the card. What the card says brings tears to my eyes.

Sisters are forever, and I’m glad you’re mine. I wish that your birthday brings you lots of amazing moments!

“Thank you Alec!” I say as I jump up and hug him. “You’re the best brother a girl could ask for.” Alec’s cheeks have turned a lovely shade of pink by the time I pull away from the hug.

“This is for you to get a new dress too.” Alec says as he pulls out two hundred dollars and hands me the bills.

“Alec, it’s too much. I can’t take that.” The Clave paid us well for working at the institute, but it was still a lot of money.

“Yes, you can. It’s not everyday you turn twenty-one.” Alec says as he take the envelope out of my hand and puts the money in it.

“Thank you.” I whisper as I take it back. “I’ll see you later. We can all have dinner together?” I mean for it to be a statement, but it comes out more as a question.

“Sure, we can get you favorite tonight.”

“Sounds great! I’m going to go find Jace before I leave.” I kiss Alec on the cheek before leaving the kitchen. I quickly walk to the training room. Walking around the corner and into the training room, I can feel my heart break the second I lay eyes on Jace. He isn’t training like I was expecting him to be, but instead, kissing Clary.

I leave as quietly as I can, not wanting to be seen or heard. I walk to the control room where I find Izzy waiting for me. I force a smile onto my face as I walk up to her.

“What took you so long?” Izzy asks as she hands me my purse before looping her arm with mine.

“Oh, Alec gave me a birthday card.” I move to put it into my purse only to have her grab it out of my hand. She pulls the card out, seeing the money and the message.

“He’s right, you know. You are an amazing sister.”

I smile for a moment.

“Did you find Jace?”

The smile fades. Deciding that I didn’t want to lie to her, I tell her a portion of the truth.  “Yeah, he was in the training room.” I just leave out the part that creates a pit in my stomach.

We decide to walk to the shop that Izzy saw the dress in, and leave the glamour’s off. I can feel everyone we pass staring at us. Well, staring at Izzy. Izzy does most of the talking as we walk, not that I mind at the moment, but I don’t hear anything that she says. As we arrive at the little shop and make our way in, I look around. Izzy points to one side of the shop, letting me know that she will be over there. I nod my head before walking to the other side of the shop. I don’t find anything that I like when Izzy walks over with her arms full of dresses she want to try on.

“I need you to tell me how I look in these.” Izzy grabs my wrist and pulls me to the back to the changing rooms. I take a seat and wait for her to come back out.

“You know, Izzy, you don’t need me to tell you how you look. You look fantastic in everything.”

“I know.” Izzy says as she let out a laugh. Dress after dress, she walks out to show me; always more beautiful than I could ever hope to be. As she finishes, she decides to get two of the dresses she tried on; a midnight blue one and a dark purple one, almost black in some lights.

“Did you find one yet, Y/N?”

“No, I can’t find one that I like. Want to help me look?”

“Sure! I saw a dress when I was looking that I thought that you would just love!” Izzy pulls me over to the dress. She pulls the dress off the rack and I can’t help but gasp when I see it. It’s Y/F/C and flows almost like it’s liquid.

“Like it?”

“Like it, Izzy? It’s so beautiful.”

“Well, let’s go try it on, Y/N.” We walk back to the changing room and once I’m into the dress, I step out to show it to Izzy.

She gasps loudly.

“That bad, Izzy?” I look at myself.

“Bad? You look amazing, Y/N! Jace is going to love that dress.”

Shopping had momentarily pushed what I saw from the front of my mind. Izzy’s comment brings it all back.

“Y/N?”

“I’m fine.” I manage to get out, hoping to sound convincing.

“No, you’re not. One, you’re my best friend, so I know when you are lying and two, you’re crying.”

“It’s nothing.” I turn quickly and walk back into the changing room. I change as fast as I can. I know that this conversation is not over, but I hope to delay it just for a couple more minutes. Walking back out of the changing room, still looking at my feet, Izzy waits for me.

“Y/N, what’s wrong?” Her voice is laced with concern.

“I saw Jace kissing Clary.” I mumble, not sure if she can hear me.

“What!?”

“I said I saw Jace and Clary kissing.” I say again, this time a little louder.

“I-I can’t believe…”

“It’s okay Izzy…”

“No, it’s not! He hurt you! I’m going to make him suffer.” I can hear the real anger in her voice, but alongside it, I can hear great hurt as well.

“Izzy don’t. He’s your brother.” I don’t want to come between them.

“And you’re my best friend!”

“Izzy… Just, can I stay in your room? And please, for the love of the Angel, don’t do anything.” I plead with her.

“Of course, you can stay with me!”

“Thanks, Izzy.”

“ Let’s get these dresses and head home.” We both walk over to the counter, Izzy buys her dresses first. I pay for my dress with some of the money that Alec gave me. With our bags in hand, we leave the store.

“You want to do anything else, Y/N?”

“Honestly, not really. All I want to do is sleep, not much of a birthday today.” I mumble the last part as we start making our way back to the Institute. The walk back is silent and for that I’m thankful. I’m really not in the mood to be talking.

Once back at the Institute, we manage to get back to Izzy’s room without running into Alec, Jace, or Clary. I fall onto the bed to check the time and find that it’s only after one.

“He didn’t even remember.” I say to know one in particular.

“Didn’t remember what?” I hear Izzy say from the other side of the room as she changes into something to go train in.

“My birthday. Jace still hasn’t wished me happy birthday.” I mumble knowing that she can hear me.

“I’m so sorry, Y/N.”

“It’s fine Izzy. It’s not like you made them kiss,” I kick my shoes off before pulling my jeans off and climbing into Izzy’s bed.

“I can stay here with you, Y/N, if you want.”

“No, I’ll be fine. Go and train with Alec. I can always text you if I need you.” I say to her in what I hope is a convincing way.

“You sure…”

“Yes, Izzy. I’m just going to take a nap.”

“Okay.” She says heading to the door. She turns the lights off before leaving me alone. Finally alone, I start to cry; body shaking sobs, rip their way past my lips. My eyes sting as tears make their way down my cheeks soaking the pillow that I am holding to my chest. Curled into the fetal position, I cry for what feels like hours before my tears dry up and I have nothing left to cry out. I fall into a restless sleep, having cried myself out.

I must have slept longer than I planned because when I wake up, it’s dark out. I can hear whispered voices in the room. My head is pounding, making even the whispered voice seem like yelling.

“Alec, she just doesn’t feel well.”

“She was fine this morning, so stop lying to me. I can tell she’s been crying. I’m not stupid.” Alec whisper yelled back at Izzy.

“You’re talking really loud.” I get up. My throat feels like someone has taken sandpaper to it.

“What’s the matter, Y/N?” Alec asks me as he walks closer to the bed and sitting down next me me.

“Nothing that is important.” I mumble not wanting to talk about it.

“I know that’s not true, Y/N.” Alec says to me as he places a hand on my shoulder. I can feel tears sting at my eyes again as I turn over in the bed to look at Alec.

“I-I … Izzy I don’t w-want t-to…”
“Can I tell him?” Izzy cuts me off and I just nod yes and bury my head in my hands as the tears once again make their way down my cheeks.

“She saw Jace and Clary kissing today.” At the mention of Jace’s name, a sob breaks its way past my lips.

“He what! I’m going to kill him.” Alec pulls me up and sits me on his lap. I throw my arms around him and cry into his shoulder. I don’t cry as long this time and manage to calm down faster with Alec and Izzy here with me.

“When did this happen?”

“This morning, after I left the kitchen I went to find him. I guess you can say I found him all right.” I say with a broken laugh

“Did he see you?” Alec asks when I pull back to sit on the bed and wipe my face off.

“Sorry about your shirt.” I notice the stain my eye makeup has left on his shirt. “And no, I left before they saw me.”

“I’m going to kill him.” Alec mumbles again.

“Please don’t.”

He shakes his head, but I still know that he’s going to do something to him. I just don’t know what.

“Can we have chinese for dinner?” I look up to Alec.

“Sure, I’ll go and get it. You both want the usual?”

I nod my head and so does Izzy. Alec walks out of the room soon after.

“Izzy, can I use your bathroom and borrow some pajamas?”

“Sure, why don’t you go get in and I’ll bring you something to wear?” I nod my head in thanks as I make my way to the bathroom, not caring about my state of undress. Once in the bathroom, I turn the water as hot as I can before getting in and letting the water run over my body, turning my skin a pink color almost immediately. I start by washing my face and getting the dried tears off before moving to my body. My hair follows soon after.

Turning off the water, I wrap a towel around my body and step out. I notice that Izzy has been in and placed a set of pajamas out for me. Looks like she gave me one of Alec t-shirts and Y/F/C silk pants. Drying off my body and wrapping the towel around my hair, I pull back on my panties and bra before pulling on the shirt and pants. By the time I leave the bathroom after hanging up my towel, I find Alec has returned with the food. I smile in thanks.

“Feeling better?” Alec asks as I take a seat next to him on Izzy’s bed.

“Some.” I tell him as he hands me my food. Alec and Izzy both try to talk to me every now and then. They manage to get me to smile, but I’m not really in the mood to talk. Looking back at my phone, I see that it is almost ten and I have a mission to go on with Jace, but I don’t think that I can face him.

“Alec, I know it’s a lot to ask, but I’m supposed to go on a mission with Jace and I don’t think that I can handle it right now. Can you go for me?” I hope that he will say yes.

“You don’t have to ask. Of course, I can do this for you.” Alec leaves soon after that to get ready to go on the mission, leaving Izzy and I in the room.

“Izzy, what does Clary have that I don’t?” I ask in a small voice.

“Y/N, don’t compare yourself to Clary. You are beautiful, so very beautiful. I can’t tell you why he did it, but it has nothing to do with you. You are perfect in your own way, trust me.”

I nod my head and lay on her shoulder. I can feel her fingers running through my still damp hair, gently removing any knot that she finds. The gentle motion slowly makes me fall asleep.

Izzy and I wake up the next morning, the the alarm going off on her phone. We both get ready, I pull on the pants and boots that I wore the other day and just tuck Alec’s shirt into the pants. I leave my hair down, not wanting to deal with it.

Izzy takes my hand in hers as we walk to the kitchen to get something to eat. As we get closer to the kitchen, I can hear yelling. Izzy and I find Jace on the ground holding his nose as blood drips down onto his shirt.

“Alec, stop!” I yell, stopping Alec in his tracks before he could hit Jace again. They both turn to look at me when I yell. Alec looks like the kid who got caught with this hand in the cookie jar.

“What is going on!” Jace gets out, but his voice is distorted by his hand. No one answers him. I just move across the kitchen and wet a rag before walking over to him.

“Can I talk to Jace alone?” I ask to Izzy and Alec.

“Sure.” Izzy say before grabbing Alec’s hand and pulling him out of the room.

“Can you tell me why I was just punched in the face?”

“I think we should break up.” My voice sounds so much stronger than I feel. Jace stumbles away from me as if my touch burned him.
“What? I-I don't…” He trails off not knowing what to say.

I can hear the pain in his voice and it’s a stab to my already broken heart. I look down to my hands not wanting him to see the pain in my eyes.

“I saw you kissing Clary yesterday.” When he doesn’t say anything, I look up to him I can see the tears running down his face. And at that moment, I feel nothing but rage.

“What? Have nothing to say! Didn’t expect me to find out? Well, I did! It was a hell of a birthday yesterday.”

“Y/N, you have to believe! I didn’t kiss her. She kissed me! I would never do that to you. I love you!”

“Jace… I want to believe you so badly. I love you so much! But you have been spending so much time with her. You forgot my birthday yesterday. I saw you kiss her… So I don’t believe you.” I walk out of the kitchen and make my way to Alec’s room hoping to find him there. Knocking on the door, it’s pulled open to me.

“Can I come in?” I ask in a small voice.

He steps out of the way and I make my way over to his bed and sit down.

“I broke up with Jace.” I say breaking the silence.

“I am so sorry, Y/N. Are you okay?”

“I’m a bit numb actually… Alec, go take care of  Jace. He needs you. You’re his parabatai.”

He nods his head and walks out of the room. I leave to Izzy’s room. She’s not in there, but knowing she won’t care that I am there, I curl up on the bed, expecting myself to break down once again, but I don’t. I don’t know how long I lay there before there is a knock at the door.

Knowing that if it was Izzy, she would just walk in, so I let them knock again with no plan to answer them, wanting to be alone. They knock again before I hear the door knob turn. Looking over to the door, it’s the last person I want to see.

“What do you want, Clary?”

“Just listen please. Jace didn’t kiss me. I kissed him. I didn’t know that you two were dating or I never would have. He pushed me away. He went looking for you, but never found you. Please he…he is in Alec’s room crying. Just go talk to him.”

“You didn’t know that we were dating?”

“No. I guess I still have a lot to learn about this world that I am now apart of.” She looks down at my feet. “I don’t even know why I kissed him. The only thing I can think of is that he saved my life. I know it doesn’t make up for all of this, but I really am sorry.”

“It’s going to take some time before I’m not angry at you, but thanks for talking to me. And yes, you do have a lot to learn, but I’m willing to help you.” I stand up from the bed.

“So, are we good?” Clary asks me.

“No, not yet. But we will be.” I smile. “ You said he was in Alec’s room?”

She nods her head as I walk past her and out into the hall.

I find Izzy standing there.

“I take it you had something to do with that.” I start to walk down the hall.

“Yeah, she felt so badly about it and I knew you needed to hear it from her and not me. Are you going to go talk to Jace?” There’s hope in her eyes.

“Yeah, but I make no promises.”

She nods her head in understanding as we stop in front of Alec’s room.

I don’t bother to knock on the door before I open it, expecting to find Alec in here as well.  I’m shocked when he isn’t.

“I told you Alec, I just want to be alone.” Jace says in a small and broken voice.

I don’t say anything as I make my way over to the bed. I sit down next to him.

“Clary came and talked to me.” He sits up and turns to look at me so fast that I would’ve believed he had whiplash.

He has tears running down his face before I can think better of it, I reach out and wipe them from his cheeks. Jace just leans into my touch.

“I-I…” I break him off by pulling him to him into a crushing hug. Both of us cling to each other, not wanting to let go of each other.

“I know, love. I forgive you. Can you forgive me?” I say into his hair.

“If you can forgive me, then I can forgive you.” Jace says to me, his voice already sounding stronger.

“Let’s go to bed. We can talk more later.” I grab his hand and pull him from Alec’s room and to ours.

We both strip out of what we’re wearing. I pull on some clean panties and forgo my bra and just pull on one of Jace’s t-shirts before climbing into bed next to him. He falls asleep still clinging to me, but I couldn’t be happier.

I wake up some time later to Jace laying on his back with his hands wrapped around my waist, holding me to him, I hear Alec’s faint whisper to Izzy.

“I think they are going to be just fine.”

A/N: Thanks for reading. I am still taking requests but I don’t know how soon I will get to it, but feel free to send me them.

If you liked this please leave me a heart and a re-blog!

Alright. As you can see in the blog URL, I am a lazy witchling. I don’t put any more effort into things than I have to. It’s a character flaw, what can I say.

Yet, I decided that this year, I’m going to do something witchy every day. Some days it might be spells, others it might be tarot reading, or working on my grimoire, or making witchy craft items. In order to keep track of all of this, I have been using a planner. In this planner, every day I write down what I did.

This has led to me noticing a pattern. On days when I don’t work, I can’t muster up the energy to do anything too complicated. Those are the days I end up doing a simple tarot read, or lighting a candle with a sigil carved into it. On days when I DO work, I come home and have all sorts of energy and focus for witchy stuff.

Since I know the pattern now, I can plan for low energy days by doing extra magic on high energy days to give my future self a little boost. It’s like taking excess energy from my Now self and storing it so my Later self can use it.

Some ways I’ve done this:

  • Simple knot magic. There’s that thing about witches tying the wind into a knotted cord and then sailors untying it when needed. I do that with energy. At the end of the day, if I’m still feeling too wired to go to sleep, I will sit down, focus, and ‘tie up’ excess energy into a cord. Then I’ll take the cord with me to work and untie the knots as necessary for a little boost.
  • Tea light candles and essential oils. Some days I’ll put a tealight or three on an electric mug warmer, let the candle melt, drop in some essential oils relevant to my intent, then let the candles cool. Sigils can be carved into the wax, incantations can be said, or you can leave them as is. But I put the candles away in a box (labelled so I remember which is which!), and on low energy days, I’ll just grab a candle and light it. Past Me has already done the work so Future Me doesn’t have to.
  • Spell kits. You know in the grocery store you can pick up spice kits that come with pre-measured spices you just add to your cooking without having to do any of the work? You know you can also do that with spells? I bought a pack of tiny plastic bags (like the kind spare buttons come in) at the craft store for about two dollars for a pack of a hundred. I’ll sprinkle some herbs into a few of those, then put the bags of herbs together in a box or some kind of container. When I’m not feeling focused enough to actually look up herb correspondences, HEY LOOK, Past Me already made a “sleep” kit, and all I need to do is open the bags and dump everything together, and there you have it.
  • Sigils. Make sigils ahead of time, something like “I have as much energy as I need”. Draw it out on a paper. Label the paper so you know what the sigil means. Keep sigils together in an envelope or your spell book. When you need one, just take a paper and burn it. Or throw it in water and let the ink run. Or crumple it up as small as you can. Or rip it up into tiny tiny pieces. I find that destruction almost never takes up much energy at all!

Those are just a few things that have helped me, anyway.

“<All I’m saying is think of how cool it would be,> Marco pleaded. <We morph racehorses ->

<I don’t think so, Marco,> Jake said.

<- then, using our human abilities we figure out if we think we can win, and the others put money down.>

<Not happening, Marco,> Rachel said.

<We start out betting whatever we have saved. Like I have about twenty dollar. But if we bet that at say, three-to-one odds, before you know it ->

<Marco, forget it, okay?> I said. <It wouldn’t be right.>

<- we’d have sixty dollars. Bet that at three-to-one odds you have a hundred and eighty. Then bet that and you have five forty! Then sixteen hundred twenty! Then four thousand eight hundred and sixty!>

<How is it you can multiply in your head like that?> Rachel asked. <You barely scrape by in your math classes.>

<It’s a whole different thing when you’re multiplying money,> Marco said. <A whole different thing.>”
