Kiss Cam

“Our seats are right here,” Joe points towards the row and I nod, following behind him as we squeeze between the other people sat there.

“Not bad, Sugg.” I comment settling into my seat beside him, gazing across the pitch below us.

“Oi, I could have chosen to take one of the boys you know.”

“But you chose me,” I grin over at him.

“For some reason, yeah,” He scoffs.

“That reason being I’m your best friend and you wouldn’t want to come here with anyone else,” I reply smoothly, slipping my one arm through his.

“I suppose that’s a fair point,” Joe slouches slightly in his seat, his one knee bouncing up and down, “That and you complain a whole lot less than the others. And we both like the same team.”

“Who wouldn’t support England?” I ask, my nose wrinkling.

“Probably half of the people here, Y/N,” He laughs, to which I roll my eyes.

“That’s not the point.”

“Oh be quiet, the players are coming out.” He nods towards the pitch, and our attention shifts, cheering loudly as our favourite rugby players names are announced.

It was the perfect day to come to a rugby match. The sun was shining, the temperature was rising, and it was just Joe and I.

I felt like I hadn’t seen my best friend in weeks, and had been missing some quality time with him, so when he mentioned having two tickets for the match today, I had jumped at the opportunity.

Days like this were great too, because I got to have Joe to myself. I had grown used to sharing my best friend with our other mates, and of course the world, but once in a while it was nice to have just him, and with no stress hanging over his head.

Studying his profile, I could see that he was truly relaxed, a smile gracing his lips, his blue eyes following the players along the field.

“Can I help you?” He turns his gaze onto me, an amused look shining brightly in his eyes.

“Nope.” I shake my head, turning my head back to the pitch, my lips curving up into my own smile.

“Then watch the game, not me.” Joe teases, elbowing me lightly.

“You’re right, the game is much more fascinating.”

“Don’t be rude, now.”

“I’m not, just being honest.”

“Oh be quiet and watch the game.”

The first half passes, and we chat casually, swapping comments about the game and our lives, along with the various people in the crowd.

The mood was happy and carefree, an enjoyable feeling settling over at us.

“Oh look,” Joe points towards the screen hanging against the stadium wall, “They’re doing the kiss cam today.”

I laugh as I watch a flustered couple kiss quickly, waving their hands at the cheering onlookers.

“What would you do if you brought a date to a game and you two were caught?” I ask, wrinkling my nose as a couple displayed on the screen starts making out heavily.

“That’ll never happen,” He snorts, and I turn my attention onto him, a questioning look on my face. “Besides you, what girl would want to come to a rugby match? And for a date?”

“I’m sure there’s someone.” I shrug, my eyes drifting back to the screen, just in time to see our faces blown up on it. “Oh gods…”

“Oh.” I see his cheeks grow red, and his eyes dart over to me then back to the screen.

“KISS HER!” Someone from a few rows above us calls out, while Joe and I turn to face each other.

“Just a kiss, right?” I ask weakly.

“Yup. Just a kiss.” He nods, licking his lips quickly.

“BE A MAN AND KISS HER!” Someone else calls out, and I let out a small laugh before suddenly Joe’s lips are on mine.

I feel my eyes slide close as I lean into the kiss, noticing how soft and warm his lips are.

We pull apart when the crowd around us starts hollering and cheering, but our eyes are locked on each other still.

“Uhm,” I say intelligently.

“That was not just a kiss…” He replies, and I nod slowly, because he’s right.

That was not just a kiss.

I had always thought I possibly had feelings for my best friend, but never dwelled on them too much. Except that kiss made me realize just how real those feelings actually were.

“Hmm?” I drag my eyes up from his lips and meet his stare.

But instead of responding, Joe simply leans in and kisses me again, this one lasting longer than the previous one, his hand moving up to my cheek.

“There was no kiss cam…” I whisper when he pulls back a little.

“I know. I didn’t want to wait and see if it came back on to us.”

“Oh, well in that case…” I trail off, pressing my lips against his once again, the game starting up again below us, but our attention is elsewhere.

“I wanna be more than friends.” (Grayson)

Requested by anonymous: “an imagine w G when they both come
back to jersey and y'all are best friends but he admits his feelings for you?”

This one ended up being really long, but I just kept wanting to add more. Also, the ending came out really bad, because I just had to stop myself.

You were lying down in bed one afternoon, texting Your best guy friend, Grayson. Your mom and his mom were close friends, so you, him, and Ethan had been best friends since you were in diapers. He had just text you saying that him and Ethan were coming home to spend a couple weeks with their family.

“Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it. The last time you told me you were coming home, I got all excited to see you, but it was all for nothing because you ended up canceling and staying in LA.” You text him.

“You’re never gonna let me live that down, are you? I’ve apologized a million times already, how many more times do you need me to?” He asked.

“Apologize once more, IN PERSON, and then we’ll see. 😉” You replied.

“Okay, fine. I promise we’ll be home this weekend. Will you come pick us up from the airport tomorrow afternoon?” He asked.

“Yeah, I guess. 😜”

“Thank you. I’ll send you our flight info later. But I have to go for now. I have to finish packing. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Grayson said.

“See you tomorrow. 😊” You replied. You put your phone on the charger and went to take a shower.

*Grayson’s P.O.V.*

I set my phone on my nightstand and got back to packing when Ethan came into my room.

“Hey, did you talk to (Y/N) yet? Oh, of course you did.” He said as he sat on my bed.

“What? How can you tell?” I asked.

“By that goofy ass smile on your face. You only smile like that when you talk to her. You like her.” He teased.

“Well, yeah. Of course I like her. She’s my best friend.” I said awkwardly. I could feel my face getting hot.

“Oh, please. That’s not what I meant. You like her as more than a friend. I know you do.” Ethan said.

“I don’t know, bro. I mean, yeah, I like her. And I always think about what it’d be like to date her, but I can never bring myself to tell her that I may have feelings for her. Because I know she’ll never feel the same way.” I said.

"You’ll never know until you tell her. And there’s no way she doesn’t also have feelings for You. I’ve seen the way You are with each other. You two are always
texting each other. You spend all night on facetime with each other. I’m sure
there could be something if you just tried.” Ethan said.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I’ll talk to her this weekend, and see what happens.” I said. I finished packing, set my suitcase by my door and got ready for bed.

* * *

Once we finally landed back in Jersey, we immediately were greeted by fans, and took tons of pictures. I scoured the area for (Y/N), and finally found her waiting over by the doors. She waved at me and I broke away from the crowd to talk to her for a minute.

“Hey, you’re here.” I said as I pulled her in for a hug.

“I said I’d be here. You two were the ones we were worried about.” She laughed.

“I’m sorry about this, we should be done in a bit.” I said, motioning back to the crowd.

“No worries, take your time. They’re your fans, I know they appreciate it.” She said. I smiled and walked back over to everyone and made sure everyone got pictures. Once we were done, we loaded our bags into (Y/N)’s car and headed home. She hung out at our place for a while, chit chatting with my mom and just having a good time.

“Back so soon (Y/N)? I didn’t know you were gonna come by today.” Cam said as she walked into the kitchen,
hugging (Y/N).

"Yeah, I brought the boys home. I didn’t have anything to do today, and I know you all were busy, so I figured I’d do it.” She smiled.

“And we really appreciate it.” My mom said to her.

“Back so soon? How much time
do you spend here?” I laughed.

“I think I see your family
more than you two do.” She laughed, looking back and forth between Ethan and I. Just then, her phone buzzed, alerting her of a text.

“Well, I guess I better get going. I’ll see you guys later.” She said. She hugged everyone, said her goodbyes, and I walked her outside.

“Hey, what are you doing later?” I asked as we got to her car.

“I’m free for the rest of the day. What’s up?” She asked.

“You wanna go do something? Just the two of us?” I asked, awkwardly. My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest.

“Uh, sure. That sound’s fun.” She said, a wide smile on her face.

“Okay, cool. I’ll pick you up later. Is six okay?” I asked.

“Sounds great. See you later.” She said as she gave me a hug. I waved goodbye as she drove off. I walked back inside and up to my room, wracking my brain of where to take (Y/N) later tonight. I had no idea what to do. I just knew that I wanted to spend time with her. Alone.

I had a million and one thoughts running through my mind, and they were all
interrupted when Ethan came into my room.

“So, did you tell her?” He asked.

“We stood outside for like two minutes, no I didn’t tell her. But, I think I kinda asked her out.” I said.

“What do you mean by kinda?” He asked.

“Well, I asked her if she wanted to go do something, just the two of us, and she said yes.”

“I’m no expert when it comes to dating, but that’s definitely more than you ‘kinda’ asking her out. Where are you gonna take her?” He asked.

“I have no idea. I had no intentions of asking her out, and I have no idea what to do now. But I can’t back out. I have until 6 to think of something.” I said.

“Take her bowling. You know how much she likes bowling.” Ethan said.

"Yeah, you’re right. She does like bowling.” I said. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I checked it to find a text from (Y/N).

“Hey, what are we doing tonight? I’m trying to pick an outfit, but I don’t want to be over dressed.” The text read.

“We’re super casual tonight.” I replied.

“My kinda night. 😉 Alright, I’ll see you later.” She said.

“See ya.” I replied. I set my phone down on my nightstand and went to my closet to find some clothes. I got dressed and ready and headed off to pick up (Y/N). When I got to her house, her mom let me in and I went up to her room.

“Come in!” She called when I knocked on her door.

“Hey.” I said shyly as I walked in her room.

“Oh, hey. I’m almost ready.” She said as she sat at her vanity finishing her makeup.

“Take your time.” I said. We sat there in silence as she finished getting ready. It was a comfortable silence, but I was getting anxious waiting to leave.

“Okay, I’m ready.” She said after about fifteen minutes.

“Finally, I was starting to fall asleep.” I laughed.

“Oh, whatever.” She said. We left and headed off to the bowling alley.

“Best three out of five, loser has to pay for ice cream afterwards.” She said as she typed our names into the computer.

“You’re on.” I laughed. We had an absolutely amazing time, bowling, sharing nachos, laughing and just having a good time. After five games, I ended up beating her three to two. “Huh, looks like ice cream is on you.” I joked as we returned our shoes.

“Yeah, yeah. Ice cream is on me.” She said as she rolled her eyes. We drove to the nearest ice cream shop, got our ice cream, and sat down at a table.

“Hey Grayson, can I ask you something?” (Y/N) said after a few minutes of silence.

“Sure. What’s up?” I asked.

“Was this really just the two of us hanging out? Or was this supposed to be a date?” She asked.

“Well, when I first asked you earlier, I didn’t intend for it to be a date, but the more I thought about it, I kinda wanted to think about it as a date. But, thinking of it as us just hanging out made me feel less nervous about it. I don’t know, (Y/N), my feelings are all over the place right now.” I said.

“Gray, talk to me. What’s going on?” She asked.

“It’s just, I like you, okay? I like you a lot. We’ve been friends for so long, and you know how much you mean to me, but I wanna be more than friends. We say "I love you” to each other all the time, but I just wish there was more meaning behind those words. We spend all night on the phone with each other, but it’s all just friendly conversation. I want more.“ I said.

"Grayson, I don’t know what to say.” I could hear sadness in her voice, and I knew that nothing good was going to come out of her mouth.

“You don’t have to say anything. This was a mistake. Tonight was great, but I gotta go.” I said as I got up from the table. I walked out of the ice cream shop and headed back towards my car.

“Grayson, wait.” (Y/N) called. I just continued walking. I felt bad leaving her here, but I was so overwhelmed. “Grayson, I know you can hear me. Come here.” She said as she grabbed my hand.

“(Y/N), please-” Before I could say anything else, her lips were pressed against mine. “What was that for?” I asked, leaning my forehead against hers.

“It was the only thing I could think of to stop you. Also, you’re my ride home.” She joked.

“(Y/N), seriously. I’m sorry about all of this.”

“Grayson, stop apologizing. Look, if it makes you feel any better, I was nervous about this too. I was nervous about seeing you in general, ever since we talked last night. After you didn’t come home last month, and when I realized how much I really missed you, I realized that I had feelings for you. And now that I know you have feelings too, I don’t feel as nervous anymore.” She explained. I smiled at her and kissed her again.

“Y'know, aside from all this, tonight was actually really great.” I said.

“Yeah, it was. But, I think it’s time to call it a night.” She said.

“Yes, I agree.” I laughed. We walked hand in hand back to my car and I drove her home.

“So, are you gonna walk me to the door, kiss me good night?” She asked as she started to get out.

“Well, this is a date isn’t it?” She asked.

“Oh, you’re right.” I said. We got out of the car and I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and walked her up to the door.

“So, I probably should’ve asked you this earlier, but where do we stand? Are we like a thing now?” I asked, her hands in mine.

“Well, you made such a big deal over how badly you wanted to be more than friends.” She said sarcastically.

“Oh, so you’re making fun of me now?” I asked, kissing her softly.

“Just another thing I’m never gonna let you live down.” She laughed.

“I should get going. Thank you for tonight.” I smiled down at her.

“No, thank you.” She said. “Good night Grayson.” She said kissing me.

“Good night (Y/N).”
