campaign things

im so…tired of “love wins” and “love is love” being the #1 talking point in lgbt+ acceptance campaigns. for one thing, as this post points out, it completely excludes trans people who are lgbt+ because of their gender, not because of who they love

but also….i feel like i’m lgbtqia+ because of who i am not because of who i love, or who i might love in the future. i want people to accept me for who i am, and because this is a part of me, not because of who i love.

the people i love don’t define me, i define me, and i dont want people to accept me because they think my relationship is worthy of respect. i want people to respect me because they think that i am worthy of respect, no matter who i date, who i love, who i have in my life.

northern downpour // panic! at the disco

I’m just saying ...

On a political cartoon site, one otherwise liberal cartoonist made the mistake of expressing doubt about the Russian connection to Donald Trump, to which a poster (handle “Radish”) provided the following amazing response:

I don’t know – it’s hard for me to see any U.S. ties to Russia…except for the Flynn thing and the Manafort thing
and the Tillerson thing
and the Sessions thing
and the Kushner thing
and the Carter Page thing
and the Roger Stone thing
and the Felix Sater thing
and the Boris Ephsteyn thing
and the Rosneft thing
and the Gazprom thing
and the Sergey Gorkov banker thing
and the Azerbajain thing
and the “I love Putin” thing
and the Donald Trump, Jr. thing
and the Sergey Kislyak thing
and the Russian Affiliated Interests thing
and the Russian Business Interests thing
and the Emoluments Clause thing
and the Alex Schnaider thing
and the hack of the DNC thing
and the Guccifer 2.0 thing
and the Mike Pence “I don’t know anything” thing
and the Russians mysteriously dying thing
and Trump’s public request to Russia to hack Hillary’s email thing
and the Trump house sale for $100 million at the bottom of the housing bust to the Russian fertilizer king thing
and the Russian fertilizer king’s plane showing up in Concord, NC during Trump rally campaign thing
and the Nunes sudden flight to the White House in the night thing
and the Nunes personal investments in the Russian winery thing
and the Cyprus bank thing
and Trump not releasing his tax returns thing
and the Republican Party’s rejection of an amendment to require Trump to show his taxes thing
and the election hacking thing
and the GOP platform change to the Ukraine thing
and the Steele Dossier thing
and the Leninist Bannon thing
and the Sally Yates can’t testify thing
and the intelligence community’s investigative reports thing
and Trump’s reassurance that the Russian connection is all “fake news” thing
and Spicer’s Russian Dressing “nothing’s wrong” thing
so there’s probably nothing there
since the swamp has been drained, these people would never lie
probably why Nunes cancels the investigation meetings
all of this must be normal
just a bunch of separate dots with no connection.

Also, I’m totally judging their DnD game. They never rolled for initiative! The demogorgon moved during Will’s turn? That’s bullshit! “Does a seven count?” Child, in what world would a seven hit anything? “The demogorgon, it got me.” Again, the demogorgon didn’t even roll! Your spell just missed, doesn’t mean you died. Come on, give me a more realistic game.

Stranger Things | season 2 foreshadowing

“Something is coming, something angry, hungry for your blood…it is almost here.”

Nobody here?

I got permission from everyone involved to send this.

During my very first D&D campaign awhile back the story setting was there were two guard captains that controlled the city, with the evil one controlling the majority of the guards which is why our party was hired by the council of heroes and the good guard captain to mitigate and hopefully stop his influence. The catch was us being hired was a secret until he was brought down. Over the course of the campaign we had several run-ins with the evil captain, and each time he almost killed at least one party member if not more. He actually succeeded in killing two pcs. Throughout the campaign many moronic things happened like the barbarian elf running naked through the streets in an attempt to cause a distraction for the rest of the party and the dragonborn cleric convincing most npcs in the poor districts that he was the second coming of Bahamut because he could use heal spells. By the end of the campaign there was a civil war in the streets of the city with us being trapped in an abandoned shack with the evil captain right outside with a dozen guard-knights threatening to kill a friendly and very helpful to us dwarf npc if we didn’t come out.
Evil Captain: Come on out, or short and stout gets it! I know you’re in there!
My Half-Orc Fighter: Uh…I would like to persuade him to leave? Can I do that?
The DM: Sure. Roll persuasion.
*Rolls Nat 20* Alright what do you say?
Half-Orc: Um…no we’re not!
Evil Captain: If you’re not in there, who’s talking?
Goblin Bard: I would like to persuade him as well.
DM: *sighs* Roll persuasion. *rolls Nat 20 plus 8 points in persuasion* *DM sighs yet again* What do you say?
Goblin Bard: The only person in here is me, your grandmother! And I’m very disappointed in you David! (The evil captains first name)
DM attempts insight check for evil Captain that has an ungodly amount of insight skill points *rolls nat 1* *DM sighs again*
DM: Dave is so distraught he drops his gear and as he walks off you see him taking off his armor as he goes home to rethink his life choices. With no leader the evil guards quickly surrender. Congratulations. *DM sighs*

Why people are mad at Theresa May right now

Theresa May is currently our Prime Minister. She wasn’t elected - during the last election (2015), the Tories won the most seats in parliament, which means they are in power, and their leader (at the time, David Cameron) becomes PM. After the Brexit vote, Cameron (who was pro-remain), stepped down as leader.

When this occurs, there are two options:
1) There is another general election
2) The elected party chooses a new leader, and they become PM.
The second is what happened, and so we have Theresa May.

The problem is, lots of people don’t like her, and the fact that she was unelected (even though the Prime Minister is never directly elected anyway) means she has a slightly weaker position in parliament than if she had won an election.

Since taking power, she has promised over and over that she would not call for a snap election.

Yesterday, she called for a snap election.

So not only did she break basically her only promise, but there’s dodgy stuff going on with timing:
- The vote is right in the middle of Ramadan, thus making is more difficult for Muslims to vote
- It’s during the exam period, making is more difficult for young people to vote.

Also, Labour is still dealing with all sorts of in-fighting that now, instead of having three years to sort, they have six weeks.

There is also basically no time for campaigning, and things like setting up a postal vote is much more urgent than normal - further worsening numbers for Muslims, young people, disabled people, etc.

So that’s why people are pissed off with Theresa May.

All-Knowing of Mind Flayer & Co.

CONTEXT: So I was playing a Tabaxi in our campaign and a thing that comes with that is… They’re “cursed” with curiosity, just like regular cats. You can about imagine the types of shit I got myself into and the DM loved it because it meant that more stupid things happened to the group. The best moment, though, was this…

DM: Congratulations, you’ve successfully defeated the Elder Brain, what would you like to d–

Me, hand in the air: CAN I LICK THE ELDER BRAIN?

My group, simultaneously: NO!

DM: … Sure, why not. You give the deceased Elder Brain a big lick and now know all of Mind Flayer and Co.

Me: And they say stupidity gets you nowhere

I later found out she was expecting me just to poke it, not full on lick it.

Hi why very clever though in your tags??

Cause we always use 1DHQ and he’s using HSHQ so it’s a familiar acronym style but also maybe implies that he/his team are in complete control. Also the continuous use of “.” seems like a nod to his team so perhaps it implies that full stop and Harry are running things and there’s no 1DHQness left to interfere? or I could be reading way too much into it lol.

So, I originally was not into this season so far because of how random it seemed that the Cult were terrorizing this random couple for no reason, But then I saw this post that mentioned all the striped shirts Oz wears and how he looks similar to Tate from S1 and it got me thinking that oz might be the missing bit of info that ties it all together.

So the facts are, oz does look like a young Tate, and when winter asked which mom was his real mom, he said he didn’t remember. Perhaps he’s adopted and his bio mom is Vivian Harmon.

That of course would make him half ghost and half human, which would mean he was the antichrist like they said in S1.

Now, Kai’s whole gig is fear, and on top of the end times being probably the scariest thing that COULD ever happen, this season is all about politics and fear, and what did people say about Obama back when he was president and Trump now? He’s the antichrist. He’s gonna destroy the world. Etc. So the political motif fits when you tie that in.

So my guess is somehow this season ties into season 1 and that somehow Kai found out Oz is the pawn they need to take power in his fear campaign thing and that explains why he’s harassing these poor lesbians.

Also fun fact that kind of ties this whole thing together: I googled Ozymandias which is Oz’s full name and it’s the name of a tyrannical Egyptian pharaoh who called himself “The King of Kings”. Just to add to the antichrist theory and all.
