Shili

Shili was a planet in the Expansion Region that was the home world of the sentient Togruta species. Because Shili had colorful grasslands, the natives displayed distinctive skin patterns for camouflaging.

It was the home of many beasts, such as the Akul, which tribes of Togrutas had to work together to defeat in order to survive. The planet was covered with turu-grass scrublands and valley canopy forests. The most prominent city on Shili was Corvala, which was the capital.

anonymous asked:

What is DadPat? Im new to this account.

DadPat, short for Dad Pattern Camouflage, is what is worn, typically by SOF operators while wearing plain clothes or “roughs”. My theory based on the SOF guys I know is that they are actually all Dads who wear the same stuff taking their kids to soccer games on weekends.

Swimwear advice!!

So sorry, this turned out really long. Anyone is free to message me if you have questions or just want to talk :)

I’ve seen several asks from guys who aren’t out or aren’t accepted feeling anxious about swim wear- I thought I’d pitch in my suggestions on swimwear that is fairly gender neutral, or at least not over the top feminine.

If you’re going to be stuck wearing a “girl swimsuit,” you can definitely find stuff to wear in the women’s sections at places like Target, Walmart, or sporting goods stores. There’s usually a big section of trendy bikini/one piece stuff, but there should be a section that’s more basic and less revealing options.  Check there for basic swim or board shorts. A lot of these are still probably going to be pretty short compared to most men’s trunks, and they’ll probably be more form fitting, so look for some with a drawstring or adjustable waistband and go a size up.

As far as tops go, you also want to go with something pretty basic and toned down. If you can find something that’s basically just a tank top, then that will probably be your best bet. Try to find something with a relaxed cut instead of something that goes in at the waist (going a size up for this will probably help too). Look for something that has wide straps or even sleeves, since thinner straps tend to look more feminine. Almost all women’s suits will have bra cups built in to the top. If you’re lucky enough to find one without them, then that’s great, but in most cases, you can pull out the foam bra cup inserts. Do that! Those will define your chest more. If the suit is a thin material or you feel self conscious, you can take a few pieces of a stiff fabric like denim or canvas and insert those into the pockets the bra cups were in. Doing this won’t work like a binder, but it won’t define your chest like the cups did, and it’ll help to keep you from poking through your top. Be sure to remove the fabric as soon as you take off your suit, since it won’t dry very well and could get moldy or gross if it’s left in.

Other routes you could go would be to wear a basic athletic style one piece with shorts over it, or shorts + bikini top or sports bra+ rashguard top. If you cant find what you’re looking for in swimwear, don’t be afraid to try stuff like sports bras or lightweight athletic shorts/shirts, as long as you don’t leave them wet for too long- toss them in the dryer once you take them off to avoid aforementioned mold.

Some basic pointers on picking swimwear that’s not super feminine:

-Go for darker colors, neutrals, and earth tones. Bright, neon, and pastel colors are usually seen as more feminine.

-You can never go wrong with basic, plain pieces. If you love prints like me, though, stuff like stripes, plaid, geometric patterns, and camouflage tend to read masculine. Anything with superheroes/Star Wars/ video games/ sci-fi is also a pretty safe bet.

-If anyone questions why you’re so covered up, or not wearing a “normal” swimsuit, or whatever, you are not obligated to tell them anything you’re not comfortable with. Lots of cis women prefer to cover up too, for a lot of reasons. You have permission to lie like hell if you need to for your physical/emotional safety and comfort. You can say that you want to protect your skin from the sun, you can say that you don’t like “trendier” swimsuits because you’re worried you’ll flash everyone, you can cite religious reasons, etc, etc. Or you can just say it’s more comfortable and leave it at that. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for how you dress.

Most important: I know it sucks to feel stuck trying to fill a role that you’re uncomfortable in, and it’s really hard and depressing trying to be someone you’re not. Remember that it’s not forever, and some day you’ll be able to have fun swimming with friends, wearing what you want and feeling comfortable and confident. Someday, you’ll get to decide what haircut you want, what clothes you wear, what name you go by, what surgeries or HRT treatments you want, and you’ll be surrounded by people who respect and support you. I know it’s hard, and I know it seems like a long wait, but be kind to yourself. Someday, you’ll look back at how things are now, and you’ll be proud of how far you’ve come.

Anatomy Of A Mermaid

“Mermaid Anatomy - A scientific outlook

Contrary to popular belief, mermaids are not human or fish at all. They are mammals with the appearance of a human being above the pelvis and the appearance of dolphins or whales below. All mammals are warm-blooded and have hair, and all female mammals have mammary glands (breast and nipples for feeding young). Fish have a completely different anatomy. Mermaids do appear to have scales, but it is possible that this is in fact a pattern or camouflage that resemble scales. Some species of mermaid also have twin-tails and there are even some that are completely humanoid in appearance, apart from scale-like skin and dolphin-like biology (sonar, respiratory, circulatory and skeletal systems). The mermaid is also known to have both a caucasian or negro complexion and some sighted have a greenish appearance.

Biological functions

Mermaids have organs in their chest that can operate as a lung or a gill, depending on whether they are in or out of the water. The organ expands and contracts exactly like a lung, yet has the ability to extract oxygen from the water. This allows the mermaid to ‘breathe’ water in the same way that they breathe air - by filling and evacuating the chest cavity. This organ is also needed to operate the larynx. The human larynx cannot operate under the water as it cannot be made to vibrate from water pressure, yet the mermaids larynx operates equally well using water or air. The mermaid circulatory system is also designed to withstand differing water pressures like that of the dolphin and whale, while the skeleton is light and pliable like those of a bird or dolphin. The lenses of mermaid eyes are also different and are able to correctly focus for use both above and under water. A mermaid is also able to hear on a different level to humans and has the ability to use sonar for communication and hunting purposes underwater.

Reproduction

In mermaids, reproduction is much like that of dolphins. The reproductive organs of both the male and female are akin to the dolphin and whale, and mermaid babies are born live (as opposed to hatched from eggs).Females have human internal reproduction organs; however the vagina is slightly shorter, and the common urogenital opening (the urethra merges with the vaginal canal near the opening) is at the front. The opening can stretch as much as a human vaginal opening; mermaid babies are born live. A clitoris (which is the same color as the tail) is slightly below the urogenital opening, and an anus is above the urogenital opening. Mermaid vaginas are slightly smaller than human ones (since merman penises are smaller, explained below), so they tend to be more sexually satisfying to human males.Males do have a penis, but it is almost as small as a human female clitoris and is the same color as the tail; it is hardly visible (this is the only plausible explanation to why no one has ever seen a penis on any of merman). It is used for urination, as well as sexual intercourse. The testicles are inside the tail, as opposed to the pelvis, since they require a slightly lower temperature to function properly (the human and pelvis part is warm-blooded, but the tail is cold-blooded). The anus is above the penis.

Diet

The mermaid mostly eats fish, but has been known to subsist on other meats, fruits and vegetables. There are some species of mermaid that are vegetarians only.

Habitat

The mermaid is able to exist equally on land and in the sea, although it can become dehydrated if on land for extended periods of time. Most mermaids live in schools or pods, but some are known to travel as hermits. They can live in caverns below the sea and in undersea cities. The merpeople cities is more common on other planets, but in the future there will be build bigger merpeople cities on Earth. Some of the merpeople are more advanced technological and spiritual than Earth human and is several thousend years ahead. They have free energy, teleportation, interstellar space travelling etc. Some of the merpeople live on big space stations and on starships.”

Airworthy B-24 Liberators, 2017

A quick guide to the survivors and how to distinguish them.

B-24J, Witchcraft, 44-44052, The Collings Foundation

The only “true” B-24 still airworthy.  Painted to resemble the original Witchcraft of the 467th Bomb Group, she wears an overall olive-drab paint scheme with red stabilizers.  Extensive nose art marks the port-side nose, showing 130 combat missions.  Previously flew as All American from 1989-1998 and The Dragon and His Tail from 1998-2005 before the current paint scheme.  This aircraft served with the USAF, RAF, and Indian Air Force before finally passing into civilian hands for restoration.

LB-30A/B-24A/C-87, Diamond Lil, 40-2366. CAF B-29/B-24 Squadron

The only surviving B-24A model in existence, originally one of the LB-30 order bound for England.  The aircraft is painted in a two-tone camouflage pattern overall, with original US roundels on the fuselage and wings.  Port side nose is painted with the Diamond Lil nose art, starboard side is a massive 48 star US flag.

Diamond Lil flew in the colors of the 98th Bomb Group for many years before the current paint scheme.

PB4Y-2, 66300, Yanks Air Museum

Overall silver finish with red bands around the ends of the fin and horizontal stabilizers, “124″ painted in black on both sides of the nose.  The aircraft was flown to the museum in 2006 and has not flown since, although she is under restoration to military condition and likely airworthiness once more.

PB4Y-2, 66302, GossHawk Unlimited

Overall polished aluminum finish, post-war national insignia on fuselage sides behind cockpit, 6302 painted in black along the nose.  Of the airworthy Privateers, she appears closest to a Coast Guard aircraft would have in service.  She is based out of Phoenix, Arizona.

PB4Y-2, 59882, Museum of Flight and Aerial Firefighting

Overall silver finish with red bands around the stabilizers and cowlings, black 126 marked on both sides of the nose.  Heavily faired nose with a smaller window than greenhouse noses.  She was registered as airworthy in 2013.

B-24J, Joe, 44-44272, Fantasy of Flight

Overall silver finish, black fins with white vertical flash.  The aircraft was last flown in 1997 and still technically listed as airworthy by the FAA and the museum, but it will likely need a full restoration before it flies again.

Despite its high production numbers, there are few remaining B-24s in museums and under restoration.  Hopefully more wrecks can be recovered from their resting places in the South Pacific and restored in the coming decades.

#298.5 - Azurill aren’t strong swimmers, but gradually get accustomed to the water by playing in the shallows at the water’s edge. Their oil-filled tail keeps them from accidentally drowning, and while they are still poor swimmers, is used in aiding transportation; either through bouncing or by throwing it and being pulled by momentum. They thrive in group settings, and require a happy mindset and close friendships to be able to evolve.

#183.5 - Marill become stronger swimmers as they age, and combined with their developing ability to inhale and store a large volume of air, are able to spend increasingly long periods of time under the water. Their hearing will become so acute that they can distinguish individual Pokemon inside a raging river. While their developing body pattern camouflages them from predators, Marill practice hunting and scavenging along riverbeds, stretching their flexible tail to its limit.

Roleplaying Races 3: Elves

We close off another special on races as we usually do, with another core race!

And with this entry, we complete the trifecta of non-human playable races directly derived from Tolkien’s work. For your consideration: Elves.

The exact specific origin of the idea of the elf is not known, but it does have Germanic roots, with tales of mysterious and magical forest people who can either help or harm humanity, depending on their mood (Almost entirely harm in most of the Germanic tales, though the Norse also have their stories of helpful elves.)

With a description like that, it only makes sense that they would be conflated with the Romance-derived concept of the fey, and often the terms are used interchangeably or categorically, with elves being classified as a physically human-like variety of fey. However, the term elf has also seen use in association with all sorts of descriptions, conflating them with traditional diminutive fey, such as brownies, sprites, pixies, and the like.

The modern high-fantasy concept of the elf comes, of course, from influential works like Tolkien’s, who returned to their Germanic roots when describing them, painting them as an aloof forest people with incredibly long lives that are distrustful and dismissive of other races, believing them to be violent and short-sighted.

It’s that characterization that has held for most every other fictional work they have been in, including many fantasy roleplaying games.

In fact, this has also led to a lot of stereotypes and oversimplifications on the part of writers and players, similar to how “Dwarves live underground and like gold” or “Orcs want to bash your face in” or “Halflings really don’t matter in the grand scheme of things unless your story revolves around being a thief who steals something important”. For elves, this means they are assumed to be elitist forest-dwellers that think they are better than everyone else”.

However, like all stereotypes, your elves don’t have to be that way. Do you think the local elf brewer is going to turn his nose up when a dwarf noble rides up with entourage and offers coin to sample and purchase his finest wares?

So what does being an elf in pathfinder mean? Well, unlike Tolkien’s work, elves are not immortal unless slain, but rather, simply have incredibly long lifespans. Furthermore, they are still very much creatures of the material plane, though, like gnomes, they may indeed have some past connection to the fey realms, however distant or close it may be.

Pathfinder elves are, however, not limited to forests, appearing in virtually every environment, their bodies subtly changing to reflect their surroundings over time. Indeed, an elf who lives in one location long enough may pick up traits from it, even if it is nothing like their original birthplace. Thus, while the long-eared, pale, lithe humanoid is a classic image, you can see elves in a variety of skin tones including and beyond the human range, as well as having the possibility of camouflage patterns, all sorts of hair colors, and beyond.

Attitude-wise, while many elves do indeed feel themselves to be the chosen children of the natural world, or at least feel wary around the more short-lived races, elves run the gamut of behaviors just like any other sapient race, they may be haughty or humble, fierce or gentle, depending on their life experiences.

In the Golarion setting in particular, elves fall under a few different categories of history. Some may have dwelled most of their lives in elven communities, being from or descended from those who returned to the planet from their colony on the neighboring planet of Castrovel. Others may have been part of the xenophobic shut-ins of the Mordant Spire having spent the long Age of Darkness preserving elven lore and civilization. Others, the Forlorn, have lived among humans nearly all of their life, and while the differences in rate of maturity and aging makes things difficult, they are perhaps the most understanding of human ways and plight.

Agile in both body and mind, elves are, however, somewhat frail.

They are, however, immune to magical sleep, and foes have trouble bewitching them with enchantment magic.

The magical nature of elven society means that even those with no spellcasting ability are at least familiar with many magical items, and their spellcasters are especially good at overcoming spell resistance.

Conversely, most elves also train to be familiar with a variety of cultural weapons, namely bows, longswords, and rapiers, and are at least passingly familiar with other elven weapons.

Of course, not all elves are alike, with several subsets and ethnicities, some of which warranting their own racial entries, such as Drow and Aquatic Elves. Others, such as Arctic Elves, Dusk Elves, Savage Elves, and Tower Elves, are simply variations of the core race.

Elves have one of the largest sets of alternate racial traits I have ever seen. Some may have adaptations suited for the environment they come from, or having special connection to their own magic, or to dragons or fey, and so on.

Elves are at once ageless beings, but at the same time, time itself is one of the major factors in their lives. Given how long they live, they have difficulty identifying with other races, who seem like children to them, yet find it startling how quickly they mature. Furthermore, their great age means that their race is slow to change culturally, so social growth that other races develop can seem like bizarre, dangerous thinking to older elves that spent most of their lives simply persisting as they are. However, at the same time, their long view of the world also means they have much to say about sustainability and the fleeting nature of certain social dynamics.

Elves can be found in most any class, though those with an association with nature, as well as arcane magic, are a strong contender for their power. They also make for agile and precise members of martial classes. However, they overall seem to have a preference for ranged combat over melee.

Elves can be so much more complex a choice than one would initially expect, but a good one nevertheless. Consider creating one, and delving into as much of the classic lore as you wish, or shaking things up with elves that defy expectations, like having body types other than slender, and so on.

Morphology by flight (I know, it’s been done):

Earth: Earth dragons are generally the largest, with rough hides and strong stocky bodies. They often have oversized front limbs and claws to allow them to dig and build more easily, and may have smaller wings in order to squeeze into their tunnels. Getting into a fight with an Earth dragon is not a good idea: they’re physically very powerful and have incredible stamina.  In some parts of Earth’s territory there are dragons who have spent so many generations underground that they’ve lost much of their vision and skin pigment, rendering them nearly albino. These dragons navigate by touch or by sensing vibrations.

Nature: Nature dragons rarely grow to any great size, as being too large in the jungle makes it difficult to hunt or flee. Despite their smaller stature Nature dragons are plenty dangerous, as many have developed poison glands and some even exude toxins directly from their skin. It’s very common to see Nature dragons born in camouflaged patterns and colors that allow them to blend into the forest, though many are born in bright warning colors. Most Nature dragons have well-developed claws suited for arboreal life as well as large eyes that function equally well at night. Very magically attuned dragons will sometimes grow plants directly from their mossy hides.

Ice: Ice dragons can be a little startling to those who have never seen them before. Their bodies are compact and bulky in order to conserve heat, and even non-tundras have been known to develop full or partial coats of fur. Like Nature dragons they have large talons to grip the ice and some have specialized horns on their heads designed to break through thin ice to reach air or water. Some are capable of developing thick layers of blubber underneath their scales, giving them a roly-poly appearance.

Light: Light dragons don’t have very many distinguishing features due to their rather undemanding environment, but they are known to have a more elegant appearance than other flights. Light dragons tend to have slightly longer necks and limbs and walk with a smoother gait, but have comparatively little stamina and don’t last very long in fights. Their wings and tendrils, if they have any, are very long and sensitive to temperature and pressure changes. It’s rare to see dark-colored Light dragons in any significant numbers. They tend to be slightly more intelligent than other flights, in a “book smart” sort of way.

Arcane: Arcane dragons are smallish in size and often spindly in appearance, mimicking their deity. They are not known for physically being very strong but compensate with deeper and more powerful magic reserves. Like Shadow dragons, they are frequently bioluminescent but have less control over it, and some Arcane dragons are downright glittery. Arcane dragons are by far the most likely to experience mutations and it’s very common to see dragons of this flight with extra limbs, wings, tails, and even heads. More monstrous mutations are present in clans located deeper in Arcane territory. Some barely look like dragons at all. All Arcane dragons have large, sharp-sighted eyes suitable for stargazing.

Wind: Wind dragons are known for being the best fliers and have smooth, streamlined bodies as well as powerful wings. Many have developed sails and fins to help them better navigate treacherous air currents, and their lungs are able to function at much higher altitudes than other flights. Some Wind dragons can fly for days or even weeks without landing, eating and sleeping on the wing and gathering moisture from clouds. Their wings display a much greater variety in shape than those of other dragons: broad wings for soaring, short wings for rapid takeoffs, curved wings for tight maneuvering. To assist with flying Wind dragons have large airsacs that make them lightweight, and coincidentally very buoyant. Most are sadly unable to dive without great effort.

Shadow: Long, low bodies are characteristic of Shadow dragons, giving some of them a weasel-like appearance. Shadow dragons are the most acrobatic and flexible of the flights to better survive in the brambles of their home and have tough, almost rubbery skin. They are very frequently bioluminescent and can even control the patterns they display, flashing glowing eyespots to frighten enemies or going completely dark in order to sneak up on prey. Some Shadow dragons possess chromatophores that allow them to change color completely, which they often use for pranks. Even the largest of Shadow dragons are able to move in near silence, and breeds with feathers have structures similar to owls that allow them to fly extremely quietly.

Water: Unsurprisingly, Water dragons are suited for aquatic life and many come ashore only rarely, if at all. Fins and flippers have replaced limbs in many Water dragon clans and wings have adapted to be more useful for swimming, sometimes taking on a manta ray-like appearance. Every Water dragon is born with gills as well as lungs, though some lose the ability to breathe air after several generations and require spells to survive on land. It’s quite common to see dragons with large fins on their tails, with some even losing their hind limbs entirely in a mermaid-like fashion. In the deepest trenches of the Sea of a Thousand Currents dragons have begun to resemble deep-sea fishes, complete with glowing lures and mouthfuls of jagged teeth.

Plague: Plague dragons are built for wasteland living and are very thin, sometimes appearing to be starving to outsiders. They have long limbs and broad vulture-like wings suited for soaring on the desert currents and have powerful jaws designed to crush bones. Despite their emaciated appearance Plague dragons are quite strong, and their bites deliver fatal amounts of bacteria to their unlucky prey. Some have even developed the ability to spray acid from glands in their mouths and throats. They are generally dull-colored to blend in with their environment but can boast streaks of bright colors. Plague dragons have a more feral and animalistic appearance than other flights and often have extra horns, spines, and rougher scales as well as exposed teeth.

Lightning: Lightning dragons are capable of storing electricity in their bodies and releasing it on command through a series of specialized muscles similar to those of electric eels. Their bodies are long and sleek with coats of jutting spines that allow them to gauge air pressure and nearby currents. Like Plague dragons they are adapted to a desert environment and can survive on little water and food for long periods of time. Curiously, they are much better able than other flights to handle prosthetic limbs and artificial implants and experiment freely with these sorts of additions.

Fire: Capable of withstanding far higher temperatures than other flights, some Fire dragons are even able to bathe in lava with no ill effects.  Their skin is very thick and rough and impervious to most damage. Fire dragons are very brightly colored despite their sooty environment and tend to have compact, armored bodies.

((Alright, this is inspired by @myherofashionzine and the fact that Project Runway is airing. I’m doing the entirety of class 1A and the students are grouped by how similar their styles would be (in my opinion, at least). Including the teacher section, there should be 10 of these in total to keep this post from being super long. Don’t mind the group names lol it was just easier for me to group them))

The Manly Man (Your Daughter Calls Me Daddy Too)

Kirishima Eijirou

Favorite Pattern: Camouflage

Favorite Accessory: Studs, chains, the color red

Favorite Material: Leather

  • Draws inspiration from music stars who are extremely manly, mainly Jay-Z, Eminem, Notorious B.I.G, and Diddy. He likes how tough and edgy they look while also keeping it a bit classy. It’s showy but not overbearing. Actually doesn’t know what balance is sometimes and can be hard to look at
  • Likes to experiment with color and pattern with a dark base and a bright pattern. He prefers geometrics over natural patterns unless it’s a multitone splatter of some kind. Most likely the type of person who wears Timberlands in the summer for the Aesthetic™. Pretty much only wears some kind of combat boot that’s left untied or its strings wrap around the ankle multiple times
    •  There has to be some type of red in every outfit he wears. With so many dark colors, the red becomes the focal point of his outfits. He likes to put red in some random place and have people guess where the red is
  • Plans on getting a full sleeve in the future. Probably a red dragon. Also plans to get piercings; snake bite and tongue

Rikidou Satou

Favorite Color: Yellows and Oranges with black details

Favorite Accessory: Quilted bomber jacket, high top sneakers, Snapback hat

Favorite Brand: Supreme™

  • From the inner city, so he needs outfits that are comfortable and can be dressed up without losing any of its initial style. He can go from school to the gym without changing, which he appreciates since he has little time on his hands. Most definitely is that guy always seen walking around with a drawstring bag that looks like it has nothing in it half the time
  • Pretty much lives in athleisure. Even his formal wear has that street edge as he wears a quilted bomber and high-tops with slim fit dress pants and a button up with a low neck chain for a bit of shine
  • Mostly wears low cut muscle shirts and slim joggers. He’s proud of his body and loves to show it off. Snapback hats are a must for every outfit, no matter the occasion and has an entire collection that only he can touch at home. It gets to the point wear any gift he gets is a snapback of some kind
    • The most special hats are the foundation of the outfit instead of being an accessory
  • Has an Instagram dedicated specifically to his outfits and he’s become quite the celebrity in a short amount of time. Often gets compared to Jason Derulo

Mezo Shoji

Favorite Color: Grays and blue-grays

Favorite Material: Anything environmentally friendly

Favorite Piece of Clothing: Ribbed pants

  • Since he needs large holes for his arms, he pretty much only wears muscle shirts, making his style lean toward athleisure but also likes contemporary. Gets called Kakashi on a daily and instead of letting that break him down he built that into his style. It’s like ninja-athleisure. Ninjleisure. Also likes the military style and wears camo and boots if not ninjleisure
  • Tops are hard to come by and are usually plain, making the focal point of his outfits his pants and shoes. Likes to play with textures and color blocking, as must of his clothes are in the gray scale or blue-gray scale
