Flower Power

Glossy green leaves, profusely petal-ed blossoms, and tea, made from the plant’s leaves are all wonderful characteristics of the evergreen tree or bush we call Camellia- also known as “The Japan Rose”. The Dutch East India Company’s  Englebert Kaempfer is responsible for first bringing camellias to the west in 1692. 

Camellia oil, also called tea seed oil, is an edible and sweetly aromatic oil, cold pressed from the seeds.

Fun fact: Camellia oil is used as a traditional hairdressing oil by Sumo wrestlers
