A sequel to the animation of the seven I made almost 2 years ago. I thought it was about time for another one. The order is Nico, Will, Thalia, Reyna, Grover, Tyson, and Calypso. There are too many characters, 7 is my max.
It was not a coincidence that elizabeth swann was mistaken for calypso - the sea goddess. Elizabeth, yet different, is made up of all the traits belonging to the sea. As calypso herself put it:
“it was a woman as changing and harsh and untamable as the sea.”
referring to herself, yet the same description could go for Elizabeth just as well.
Before introduced to the life at sea she rebelled in her thoughts and ways in a manner that wasn’t really proper for a governor’s daughter. When kidnapped by Barbossa and his crew she did not resist fighting back, she used the medallion to achieve her ends, and she was willing to stab Barbossa with a table knife in order to escape.
A clear example of her fierceness and how untamable she could be. Not to mention in her early years when she thought pirates fascinating and sang pirate songs; even though she knew it wasn’t proper. She hid the medallion and dreamed on about piracy. She could not be fully converted into the strictly formed life in Port Royal.
One moment she praises Jack’s return as if she is more grateful of him deciding to be a good man, which he is, than him abandoning her and everyone else on the ship to die. For a second he believes her, or wants to believe her, and in the next she locks him up and leaves him to the kraken. With none of the others suspecting her. Proving herself of being changing and harsh.
The comparison of Elizabeth and Calypso could go on and on, but they both do have the ability to infatuate men.
Above mentioned qualities are truly what one could consider the sea to be like, but the sea is also beautiful, intriguing, serene, kind, warm, and all other possible - so is she. One thing that sets the sea apart from Elizabeth is that she is also human.
That is why Jack is so drawn to her. Because if anyone could be the sea incarnation it is Elizabeth.
@nicotinc and I were catching up the other day and she mentioned how I should do a little MM makeover on Calypso! She looks so weird and different, she’s definitely made to be alpha, but it was fun! MM just doesn’t have that dark, sharp aesthetic that fits Calypso so well and is easy to create with alpha content. Although, I think its obvious that I’ve recently found a great love for mm content!
A woman. He fell in love. No, no… I heard it was the sea he fell in love with. Same story, different versions. And all are true. See, it was a woman, as changing and harsh and untameable as the sea. Him never stopped loving her. But the pain it caused was too much to live with, but not enough to cause him to die.
“One word love: curiosity. You long for freedom. You long to do what you want to do because you want it. To act on selfish impulse. You want to see what it’s like. One day you won’t be able to resist.” (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest)
