Cinderella cake in Hazard, Kentucky with sugar figures! The flying birds and mice are making Cinderella’s cake in my version. It mimics the dress the mice are making her in the movie.

The birds defy gravity in this one. Pictures by Natasha Raichel Photography .

Donut Stack! cartoonnetwork‘s new show We Bare Bears is filled with epic treats, and nothing says BEARS like stackable, dippable, shareable donuts.

Make your own using our DonutStack recipe!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  •  3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup whole milk, hot
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

What to do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. (You’ll need an adult for this part!) Lightly grease a doughnut pan.We used Wilton’s Baked donut pan.
  2.  Sift flour, cocoa powder and baking powder together into a large bowl or mixer.
  3. Whisk in the sugar and salt. Add the butter- make sure it’s cold! Break into even pieces and evenly distribute throughout.
  4. Add the milk, vanilla, and egg and stir until just combined. Careful not to overmix your batter, this could make for a tough donut. Use a piping bag or a spoon to fill each doughnut cup about three-quarters full, making sure the center post is clear.
  5. Bake until doughnuts spring back when touched, 6 to 10 minutes. Let cool slightly before removing from pan.

Melt your candy melts. We used Brown (or plain milk chocolate is fine.) for Grizz, white for Ice Bear, and white and black for Panda. Tip: Melt your candy melts in the microwave in 30 second intervals, and don’t overmix. More detailed candy melt instructions can be seen here!

Make sure your donuts are not hot- then dip into your desired candy melt colors using one swift motion. Dot eyes with black candy melts, and noses. Add ears with m&ms covered in candy melt colors. You can also use a brown m&m cut in half for noses. Let candy melts dry for atleast 20 minutes or until firm to the touch.

Stack and eat!

Steven Universe Dessert Project Part 1!

So, I’ve finally finished all the “base” gems in the Steven Universe dessert project. My next job is to combine them all to make a dessert for all the Crystal Gem-involved fusions! Before I do that, I wanted to round up all the SU desserts so far.

Steven’s “Fry Bits” Funnel Cake with Peach Jam

Steven’s dessert is across between fry bits and donuts: funnel cake! Add a peach jam, and anyone you eat this with will become your jam bud. RECIPE HERE.

Pearl’s White Peach and Lavender Swan Choux

For Pearl I did a lavender and white peach cream puff. It’s elegant and light, plus it mirrors the peach flavors of Steven and Rose as a nod to her loyalty. RECIPE HERE.

Amethyst’s Purple Berry Donuts

A lil’ purple donut for my favorite lil’ purple gem! These are yeast donuts with blackberry glaze. RECIPE HERE.

Ruby’s Strawberry Pink Peppercorn Flambé

Ruby’s dessert is a strawberry pink peppercorn flambe with strawberry meringues. It may not be an ETERNAL flame, but it’ll give you a good 20 seconds of fiery goodness. RECIPE HERE.

Sapphire’s Blueberry Quark Sundae

No one’s more chill than Sapphire, so she gets a frozen dessert. Quark ice cream with blueberry meringues and sugared berries. Bubble sugar for garnish. RECIPE HERE.

Rose’s Quartz’s Rosé and Peach Parfait

A giant parfait for a giant lady. This parfait consists of layers of whipped cream, white chocolate crisped rice bits, peach mousse, and rosé wine jelly. Topped with meringue cookie roses with a hint of rose flavor! RECIPE HERE.

Peridot’s Key Lime Triangles

These angry little slices of pie consist of a creamy key lime cream on an almond sablé base. Chocolate garnish. RECIPE HERE.

Welcome to Gravity Falls! This week was Gravity Falls Week on my Instagram, with an entire week of me making this journal cake and fondant Pine twins! The cake itself is golden butter cake, and Dipper & Mabel (and Bill!) were sculpted from sugar.

This cake is totally delicious AND Hirsch Approved.

Want even more nerd cake? Back the Nerdache Cakes’ Geeky Bakery on Kickstarter! Just 12 days left to raise $70K and help me make the bakery of Tumblr’s dreams. Just $1 can help!

In case you wanted to know how that Nightmare Before Christmas wedding cake turned out! One of my coworkers tackled the text, swirls, and stitches on the top two cakes, while Jack and Sally’s silhouette, the entirety of the bottom tier, and all the fondant figurine work (Lock, Shock, Barrel, Zero, the vampire dollie and aaaaall the pumpkins) is mine.

P.S. The couple made the topper themselves!
