Napoli’s Benitez “We handed Cagiliari the game.”

After his Napoli teams 3-3 draw with Zdenek Zeman’s Cagliari, Rafael Benitez spoke to the press regarding his team’s performance and other matters.

On Zeman’s comments about what is wrong with Napoli.

“I prefer to talk about what is lacking in Naples, not of what is lacking in Cagliari. I do not talk to other teams.”

On not winning the match.

“We played well defensively in the first half. We had the match under control and we should’ve closed out the game. Then Cagliari did well to fight back. ”

On the disappointing result.

“When you work as much as we did and you don’t get the result, it’s disappointing. We handed them the game.”

On his team lacking intensity against smaller sides.

“I do not think it is 100% true, because the team were good today. We scored the first goal, then their two goals came from stupid mistakes.”

On his contract renewal.

“We know that we need to focus on the league, this is the most important thing. I work with Bigon and De Laurentiis, but now we have to think about what’s happening on the field.”

On seeming more frustrated with his side today and his transfer market dealings

“I’m angry because we had the game in our hand. Transfer Market? We work and we talk every day, then we must also talk with the president.”

On the disappointing 3rd goal.

“Yes, it is very disappointing. We will analyze all the errors in todays game.”
