c: peggy carter

So you wanna know more about Peggy Carter...

Well, that’s swell. That’s just dandy. You wanna know more about Peggy, and I wanna talk more about Peggy. Looks like we’re gonna get along just fine.

You can find the following origin and background information on the lovely Agent Carter after the cut:

  • MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
  • Earth-616 (Mainline Marvel Continuity)
  • Earth-58163 (House of M)
  • Earth-1610 (The Ultimates)
  • Plus, each section will have a tl;dr because I’m generous and wrote a lot.

Note: This will likely be pretty spoiler-heavy, especially in regard to The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger, Agent Carter, House of M, and The Ultimates. You have been warned.

i find it funny how certain people are getting so mad about peggy getting to wield the shield and calling it fanservice but don’t consider other men becoming captain america to be such. i have said it before and i will say it again: marvel fandom’s mysoginistic double standards ain’t shit.

it’s even worse when they say shit like “peggy carter had her time” or “let peggy carter rest in peace” as if her very existence offends them and is preventing other characters from getting the spotlight. they’re literally asking for a female character to be shoved aside and erased.

we need to get rid of this THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE highlander mentality when it comes to female characters. one of them getting to shine does not negate the other’s place in canon or achievements. it’s truly sad that we’ve become so used to our girls only getting little scraps of triumph from canon that the first impulse when one of them is lauded is to start tearing her down because “x deserved it more” or what have you.

lastly and semi related, peggy carter fans have had a really bad year. agent carter is cancelled (for now) and peggy herself was killed in civil war. why not let us have this? it doesn’t erase the accomplishments of other female characters and it brings happiness to a lot of people who love peggy dearly and want to see more of her.
