by like a winter machine

sojiro can’t stand canned coffee. even if he is on the go somewhere  &&  needs a pick me up. he refuses to drink it. in his youth he’d drink BOSS coffee but it wasn’t till he started making his own that he’s really tasted the difference. to him if it’s not made in house, it’s not worth it. he hasn’t gone back to vending machine coffee since.

that was some 20 years ago.

Time to reflect on the Year of Stucky. It’s been a crazy whirlwind and an explosion of a fandom. So let’s start the celebrations with a tiny reflection:

Let’s get this party started! At the beginning of this month I asked for people to send in their favourite fics from 2014. To be included below the fanficion had to be written, posted and completed in 2014. Enjoy!

First, Do No Harm

James Barnes should be just like any other patient Steve sees in his Brooklyn clinic, but the mob enforcer bleeding all over his waiting room chair apparently didn’t get the memo.

to memory now I can’t recall

While on a mission storming a HYDRA facility, James Buchanan Barnes touches one of the many strange alien devices collected by the Red Skull. He does this, in fact, twice— in the past, and in the future. // Next thing he knows, Bucky Barnes is opening his eyes in the 21st century, which is full of great gadgets and coffee, and at least includes his old pal Steve. (And, inexplicably, a different Stark.) Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier finds himself in the middle of World War Two, helping Captain America hunt down HYDRA (which is at least familiar), pretending to be Bucky Barnes (which is not), and figuring out the very noisy group of soldiers who call themselves the Howling Commandos.

Little Lies to Get Me By

Forced into a traumatizing situation that neither can control, Bucky and Steve have to confront their feelings for each other. It’s a long road ahead…

Heat of the Night

Based on this prompt: Steve is a cop. Bucky is the kept boyfriend of the super rich bad guy. Bucky doesn’t really have any information because his sole job is to look good when they go out. But he gets Steve’s card and he calls him and Steve meets him for lunch and coffee and dinner and Steve knows this could be a bad thing. He knows Bucky could be a trap. But the way he talks, how he smiles at Steve, laughs like it’s a sound he’s not used to making…Steve thinks he could be worth it. Steve thinks he could be worth everything.

Steve pulls his missing, presumed dead best friend into his circle of super heroes and starts working to undo the physical and mental damage Hydra has done. // It’s not easy, and it’s not pleasant. But it would probably be a lot more effective if Bucky weren’t keeping secrets, and if he could figure out how to interpret Bucky’s mood swings.

MASTERPOST of Stucky Recs & Rec Lists

anonymous asked:

Any fics where the Avengers disapprove or distrust Bucky or have some sort of opinion over him and what Steve should do in the matter, and in the end it results in Steve picking Bucky over them? Or of it just being Steve and Bucky through Bucky's recovery.

These are the best I have

A Flaw in My Code

“Stay with me.”

The plea is a demand, has just enough force to be an order.

“Command: accepted.“

OR, The fallout of the Winter Soldier’s acts of terror have far reaching consequences.

The Murder Ballads by WeAreWolves

Something wicked is coming for Steve Rogers. Luckily for him, something even more wicked stands in its way: the unrepentant, unbroken Bucky Barnes.

Out of the Dead Land by emilyenrose

Someone is building machines that look and act like people.

Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier tries to be Bucky Barnes.

There are quite a lot of them, but they are all definitely worth a read. These stories give some of the most satisfying endings to all that heartache. Be prepared for a lot of angst!

I Didn’t Know What Time It Was

Explicit - 19k

It’s been two days now. He knows it would be logical to get out of the city, but he’s waiting for something. Against everything he knows about hiding, he went to the exhibit on Captain America at the Smithsonian and looked at a photo of a stranger who might have been his twin from seventy years ago. He’s not sure what he wanted. An epiphany of some kind, a feeling of doors opening and light flooding in; whatever it was, it never came.

Hard Wired

Explicit - 30k

After a few months of being on his own, his body deteriorating, Bucky knows he’s got to go somewhere. He can only think of one place to go. Your basic post CA2 fix-it fic.

Waiting to Prove You’re Not Alone

Explicit - 41k

Months after he woke up on the banks of the Potomac, when a reporter mistakenly assumes Steve would disapprove of homosexuality being as accepted as it is in the modern day, Steve accidentally snaps and unleashes his real opinion on the matter… and with that, a secret he’s hidden for over eighty years.

When that secret comes looking for him in New York, Steve can only hope that he can get a second chance at saving his best friend, even if it means keeping his heart in check.

“Yeah, back in my day it wasn’t tolerated, and because of that I knew from the minute I figured it out, that I’d never get to tell my best friend that I loved him, and sure enough, he died without knowing that I’d been in love with him for a decade.“

How can a loser ever win

Mature - 12k

The Soldier should not be standing here, in the middle of a crowded room with obstructed exits, risking discovery with every second he remains rooted to the spot – but.

But. He’d had to know.
