Another Day, Another Fuckery: FTP Edition (9/6/17): As Florida braces for Hurricane Irma, the human shit stain known as Sheriff Grady Judd has warned Polk County residents that if they try to use a shelter and have outstanding warrants, his officers will “gladly escort them to the safe and secure shelter called the Polk County jail.” Judd has claimed to be doing this to protect youth from predators, despite the fact that most warrants are not issued for violent crimes like sexual assault, and instead for minor offenses like missing court dates and not paying fines. Further, he has stated that they will be ID’ing people for entry into shelters, meaning undocumented individuals are at risk of being detained if they do not produce documentation. Ultimately, it will likely deter people in the most desperate need of help to avoid seeking out shelter, for fear of a jail cell. With Central Florida in the path of Irma, how many lives will this wannabe-Joe Arpaio cost us? Tell Grady Judd to focus on protecting lives rather than threatening them during this moment of crisis.
U.S. District Court Judge Susan Ritchie Bolton says that President Trump’s pardon of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio does not “revise the historical facts” of his case — and that she will not vacate her ruling that found Arpaio guilty of criminal contempt.
On Thursday, Bolton quoted Black’s Law Dictionary to say that a pardon “releases the wrongdoer from punishment and restores the offender’s civil rights without qualification.” But she then added a further interpretation in her own words: “It does not erase a judgment of conviction, or its underlying legal and factual findings.”
Jon decided to bring Damian along to their trip to the county fair this year. They went on a lot of rides, ate some junk food and even got a couple prizes. The boys by the end of the day were exhausted. Damian might not admit to it later but he had a genuinely good time with his partner and boyfriend best friend.
Can you guess the prizes they got?? The green one might be hard to tell but I’ll give you a hint, it’s a pickle!
Photos by my brother, a volunteer firefighter in Northern California, currently assisting with the Tubbs Fire as it assaults areas of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County.
I was born in Santa Rosa and raised in Sonoma County, it’s surreal to see my home city go up in flames. Since last night, the Tubbs Fire has grown from 200 acres to 20,000 and has destroyed over 1500 structures. Many of our firefighters in San Diego have already left to fight the fires in NorCal, while fires now break out in areas of SoCal. It’s a mess, let me tell you.
If you can afford to donate to relief efforts, please do so. A simple Google Search of the Tubbs Fire will bring-up a donation option. If you can’t donate, please reblog and signal boost, the effort is much appreciated.
I don’t know why the wildfires in Sonoma and Napa counties are not trending more, or why this news is not more widespread, but the devastation in the North Bay is phenomenal. 16 are dead (this death toll continues to rise), 2,000 homes- ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOODS- HAVE BEEN DESTROYED, 115,000 acres so far have been burned, and 183 people re unaccounted for.
We are all living out our worst nightmares as this beautiful place we call our homes is being desecrated by wildfires that continue to burn. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HOMELESS. TENS OF THOUSANDS HAVE EVACUATED.
Please spread the word. Please find a way to help out. Please don’t let Eminem or Donald Trump or Harvey Weinstein be what everyone is talking about.
