8. Watch a comforting/silly/funny/lighthearted TV show or movie.

20. Shower. Then dry your hair and put on clothes that make you feel good.

21. Go outside and be in the sunshine.

22. Move your body gently in ways that feel good. Maybe aim for 30 minutes. Or 10 if 30 feels like too much.

23. Read a story (or stories) of people who overcame adversity or maybe dealt with mental illness, too. (I personally admire JK Rowling’s story.)

24. Go to a 12-Step meeting. Or any group meeting where support is offered. Check out church listings, hospital listings, school listings for examples.

42. Lay down on the ground. Let the earth/floor hold you. You don’t have to hold it all on your own.

43. Clean up a corner of a room of your house. Sometimes tidying up can help calm our minds.

44. Ask yourself: What’s my next most immediate priority? Do that. Then ask the question again.

47. Or maybe get on tech. If you’ve been isolating maybe even interacting with friends and family online might feel good.

51. Put up some Christmas lights in your bedroom. They often make things more magical.

52. Spend a little money and treat yourself to some self-care and comfort. Maybe take a taxi versus the bus. Buy your lunch instead of forcing yourself to pack it. Buy some flowers that delight you.

53. Make art. Scribble with crayons. Splash some watercolors. Paint a rock. Whatever. Just create something.

92. Volunteer at a local shelter or hospital or nursing home. Practice being of service to others who may also be going through a tough time.

93. Accompany a friend or family member to something. Even if it’s just keeping them company while they run errands, sometimes this kind of contact can feel like good self-care.

94. Take your dog for a walk. Or borrow a friend’s dog and take them for a walk.

95. Challenge your negative thinking.

96. Practice grounding, relaxation techniques.

97. Do something spontaneous. Walk or drive a different way to work. Order something new off the menu.Listen to a Spotify playlist of new songs.

98. Work with your doctor, naturopath or nutritionist to develop a physical exercise plan and food plan that will be supportive to whatever you’re facing right now.

99. Pray. Meditate. Write a letter to God/The Universe/Source/Your Higher Self, whatever you believe in.

100. As much as you can, please try and trust the process.

101. Finally, please remember, what you’re going through right now is temporary. It may not feel like that from inside the tough time you’re in, but this too shall pass and you will feel different again someday. If you can’t have faith in that, let me hold the hope for you

It’s a book about a man, a really stupid man,who makes a really bad decision, and how he loses somebody amazing from his life.

How Other Fandoms Refer to BH6
  • Phandom:The movie starring Male Technician 1 & 2
  • Fall Out Boy Fans:That one movie with Immortals in it
  • 1/2 of the Marvel Fandom:That really cool movie based on the Big Hero 6 comics! Love it!
  • The Other 1/2 of the Marvel Fandom:The movie based on the comic that Disney stOLE FROM OUR PRECIOUS HANDS I MEAN THEY MADE IT FOR LITTLE KIDS WHY IS THE WORLD SO UNFAIR

Sometimes I think about how satisfied Hux looks with his giant murderbeam, talking about the ‘last days of the Republic’. He’s so chill the whole movie, for him to suddenly crank it up to eleven like that is sudden and jarring. He’s really enjoying crushing the Republic.

And then I remember that Hux is the oldest one out of all the main First Order crew. Finn, Kylo, Mitaka- they were all born after the fall of the Empire, but Hux wasn’t. He would have been 5-6 years old when the Emperor died. Old enough to remember it happening. Old enough to have seen the destruction of his entire way of life as the Empire was dismantled and replaced with the New Republic. There would have been violence and chaos and political unrest. He would have heard his parents- an Imperial Officer and an Imperial Officer’s wife- talking about the awful, chaotic Rebel Alliance and been too young to understand anything except that they were the enemy and they won.

He’d be old enough to remember when being an Imperial Officer’s son went from being something to be proud of to something shameful, something strangers hated him for. And how that meant they had to leave their home and everything he knew, because there was no place for them in the rebels’ new Republic.

And while life went on as normal in the rest of the galaxy, he would have grown up in exile in the Outer Rim, with the rest of the new generation of officers, remembering how things used to be back before things like heavy rationing and martial law. Before the Republic

That’s when I think that, yeah. It makes perfect sense that destroying the Republic is something that’s really important to Hux.

Big Hero 6 review: go see it!

its really a fun movie. it has great action scenes, great animation, some touching moments, and you can tell it was made by people who love anime. there’s even a Samurai pizza cat homage there in the credits.the only thing that kind of lame is the villains plan , which falls apart soon after you put some thought into, which could have been achieve in so many other, smarter, ways. but everything else is enjoyable so you can forgive that little plot hole.

but what i really like about it its how its really selling science to kids. it even had then “interstellar” and “Chappie” trailer presented before the movie. i totally support kids getting into science. those kids will grow up to develop the future advancements in robotics that will finally enable mankind to live in a world with life-size twerking robots. world peace will soon follow afterwards.

BTW you can help support the comic at Patreon. join the community and get cool prizes in return

A few things I wanted to share about my Hiro cosplay

I think the most common reaction tag on our Big Hero 6 photo series is: #HOW

Some just leave it at that one word, but others have elaborated and posed questions such as “How do you look just like Hiro?” or “How do you three even exist?” or “How did you escape from the movie screen?” Hahah!

Before anything though, I would just like to say that I’m extremely honoured that so many of you tell me that I’m your headcanon Hiro. I really loved the film and to be thought of as my favourite character in it is super cool! However, while I am grateful that a staggering number of you call me “perfect”, I acknowledge that not everyone would feel that way and that’s totally okay! So when I talk about feeling a connection with Hiro, I don’t mean to say that I think of myself as Hiro. Claiming characters exclusively for oneself is kinda silly, isn’t it? He’s meant to be a relatable character. Certainly, lots of you guys feel the same way!

Here’s something a lot of you may have been curious about: This is what I look like without makeup (and like no emotion on my face). See, I’m not CGI. Hahah! My skin tone isn’t completely even as I have some spots that get kinda reddish. You can also see some marks left over from blemishes before they faded away. My natural lip colour is also on the pink side.

After applying a style of cosplay makeup that I practiced for Hiro and doing some in-character facial expressions, it gets a bit more convincing. This is how I looked on the day of our first BH6 cosplay shoot (though I look a little washed out due to the light). I’m not trained in makeup at all. My only credentials are that I am an illustrator and I think of makeup as drawing materials for the face. So basically I look at a character and observe their features and attempt to draw the same lines and colours on my face.

How I came to know of Big Hero 6 (and acted like a giant spazz)

I didn’t have a chance to get exposed to the original Marvel comic at all, so my first encounter with Disney’s Big Hero 6 was scrolling through Tumblr and then stumbling on someone’s Hiro photo set.

This image in particular caught my eye. I was browsing on my laptop then, and I also had a lamp on the left side of my desk. (And that thing on the foreground looks like a dirtier version of my AC remote.) So for a second I felt this weird jolt of recognition and kinda FREAKED OUT because I was like “WHO IS WATCHING ME AND WHY IS MY PICTURE ON TUMBLR?!” I consequently slapped my hand to my forehead, laughed, and scolded myself. “Jin, that is a cartoon character. Relax, you dork.” I showed images of Hiro to Miguel (the one who cosplays Tadashi with me; for those of you who just started following my blog) and he was like, “Whoa I thought someone made Disney-style renders of you!”

As more and more images and promo materials were released, I also got more and more messages from people telling me how I seemed to resemble Hiro, along with encouragement to cosplay him.

At one point I felt like doing a trial cosplay of Hiro with stuff I had lying around my room. Here’s the result! I only had large diameter contact lenses with at the time so my eyes look kind of oversized, but that was something I corrected for my proper cosplay. This was a lot of fun to do, and even copying Hiro’s facial expression in the render didn’t feel like a lot of effort for me since that’s how I usually smile.

I didn’t want to officially pursue the cosplay until after seeing Big Hero 6, because I wanted to do it only if I really loved the film.

How we felt after finally getting to watch Big Hero 6

Months rolled by, and then November finally came around and Big Hero 6 was released in our country! Miguel and I watched right away! And then our hearts were stolen by the Hamada brothers. A title like Big Hero 6 makes you think of a team of superhuman beings having action-packed adventures — something the movie does have, but I felt was not the main point of the film. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of heart it had in its core. I’ll leave you to discover what I mean if you haven’t seen it. Suffice it to say that I was wiping my tears off on Miguel’s shirt sleeve.

While we were watching the movie and finally seeing Hiro in glorious high definition, Miguel kept whispering to me like, “This is so weird. It’s like it’s you in the movie.” And when Hiro would make certain facial expressions that we apparently share, Miguel would go, “It’s you! It’s you!” and I’d laugh and elbow him to concentrate.

Miguel thought at first at his favorite would be GoGo because he likes her design, but the one that he came to admire the most is Tadashi. He did this test cosplay after we watched the movie. He says his face shape isn’t completely the same as with Tadashi’s model, but given our resemblance and the certain contrasts of our features in relation to each other, he felt it might work. And he wanted to try regardless because he was really drawn to Tadashi’s character. I half-joked, “Why? Is it because you have a little nimrod like me to keep in check?” He laughed and reassured me that he really just admires Tadashi’s sincerity and drive to help other people. I think those are traits that they share!

We were all quickly converted to BH6 nerds so we ended up pushing through with our proper cosplays!

Kat joined us as Aunt Cass, and a big motivation for her was that Aunt Cass reminds her a lot of her own mom. She even wore her mom’s clothes and makeup style, and I think that played a big part in making her a convincing maternal figure for this shoot! (Even if her real self is quite the opposite. Hahah!) We feel pretty lucky that we’re each other’s headcanons and we can cosplay together!

I usually disagree when people tell me I resemble this or that character, but for some odd reason I really felt a connection to Hiro. I felt it with the particular way he expressed things with his eyes, that button nose, uneven teeth, thin lips, the long oval face shape, and the slight underbite.

This is really dorky of me, but something that kinda floored me though was the similarity I saw in our teeth. (Not the tooth gap, though — that I had to add mine on with tea leaves/toasted seaweed/a sliver of fabric stuck with dental glue.) But the general shape of our front teeth, and the manner in which the teeth directly adjacent are nudged upwards a bit.

Here’s a (terrible) shot of my teeth (sorry) next to Hiro’s. When I noticed the detail of his teeth during this part of the movie, I was again jolted with that bizarre feeling of familiarity. Just for a second I thought, “Whoa, am I looking at my teeth?”

However! I am not so arrogant as to think that the animation team somehow found me and used me as reference for Hiro, even if my friends often jokingly speculate that. I don’t even usually show my teeth this much in photos so they’d have no way of knowing! I just think it’s a pretty wild and awesome coincidence that a character from one of my favourite animated films happens to have several physical traits that we have in common!

Why I identify with Hiro

I’m going to get a bit personal here, and explain why these similarities mean a lot to me, especially Hiro’s relatively long face and his underbite and imperfect teeth. These are traits that aren’t usually associated with protagonists, and having those characteristics growing up was a constant hindrance to my dwindling self-confidence when I was little.

I was also an honours student and part of an advanced science class at one point, and you can bet that those didn’t help either, and made me more of a target for bullies. So even though I’m past that now, after better growing into my features and building confidence from finding who I am — I can still remember what it was like to be in that place. It would have meant the world to me if as a little kid, I had a character like Hiro to identify with and look up to and feel like it was okay to be me. To help me feel that being smart and even being a little weird-looking were good things. And I would have felt more like I could be brave and brilliant and inspirational too.

So when you guys send me these sweet messages to tell me you enjoyed my portrayal of Hiro, or when you let me know that I’ve been helpful to you in any way, it’s like that little me from the past is getting a fistbump of reassurance and I just really appreciate that. Thank you!

Yay!! After months of work I am finally done! I had to rush finishing a few of the scenes because of my eye surgery in May (thay lazeeerd mah eeeyyyeeess), but other than that I went full out with this. But did you guys notice how long this was?!? DOUBLE YAY! :D

Apparently I really can only make 2 parts per year?? So that means that part 6 will be done this fall/winter! :D Up next we will finally properly meet the person who wants Charming dead!

OBS!! A big BIG thank you to my followers who helped me with the error checking! I love you, guys! <3

Doctor Who - Stuart Manning Series 8 Posters (Episodes 1-6)

Ugh… I love these sooooooooo much. I really hope they release a merchandise version so you can get like framed ones. They look like gorgeous vintage 50’s movie posters. I really just want one of the ‘Into the Dalek’ or 'The Caretaker’ posters.

Damn London

Back at it again with the fundraising.

But listen, this time…
It’s really important.

I’ve been suffering for 6 years and it’s time I tried to get real help.

So hello, tumblr.com. My name is London. I like pizza, memes, and feminism. My favorite movie is The Lion King. I adopt animals routinely and rescue sick fish quite regularly, which I actually made a post about elsewhere on several sites. I love to hike, I love Pokémon, and I work as a busser at a restaurant right now.

And I have a problem. I live in a wonderful household of Trump supporters, with parents who calls trans people “transgenders”, and I’m in the Deep South. I’m a non-binary, femme presenting (I guess?) person and I don’t want to bear children. Ever. I never want to be pregnant as long as I live.

Since I was 13 years old, I have had a period. Since my third period, I’ve had excruciating cramps, but no one in my family has ever been diagnosed with anything like endometriosis or PCOS. So I guess I don’t have one of those two, though I’ve never even been to a gynecologist or even a Female Sex Organs doctor to know that so whatever (thanks no insurance and Republican mom). So my menstrual cramps are shitty. Everyone’s are, right? Right.
But here’s a breakdown of some of my symptoms, every month, for the last six years:
• fainting/blackouts
• knee buckling
• severe joint pain (debilitating, to the point I can’t walk)
• lower back and abdominal pain
• nausea & vomiting
• occasional chills & hot flashes
• stabbing pains
• bloating to the point that any pants or underwear cause even more severe cramps
• sleepless nights up to 72 hours, usually at least 28hrs a month

And those are only the physical tolls. I know some of you probably don’t believe being nonbinary or agender to be real, but…that’s my identifier and whether you believe it to be real or not, it comes with a level of dysphoria. I do not want these organs and I don’t want them to cause me to suffer. I have never felt like a woman or a girl (not since I can ever remember) and being reminded with literal, physical pain is not good for my mental health.

Pain killers do not relieve my suffering quickly or effectively (I can take 12 painkillers [of which the 24hr max is 8] and get about 45 minutes of relief, at severe detriment to my liver). Due to several suicide attempts in my youth involving medication and alcohol, I try to avoid overusing medication because of the poor state of my liver. But being a busser/server assistant at a restaurant is making that difficult; I need the medicine to be able to keep my job and make money. The rate of pay also makes it incredibly difficult to save for this procedure on my own, as I am also trying to save up to move across the country and live with my significant other.

I don’t really have a goal date in mind, but the sooner, the better.

The money I am saving is going towards a procedure known as an endometrial ablation. It’s a 30 minute to 1 hour in-office procedure that basically cooks the endometrium, making it difficult to build up a uterine lining and lessening or even ridding the receiver’s menstrual symptoms. I don’t want a full hysterectomy, because a hormone imbalance like that on someone my age is unhealthy, and I have no need for a full removal of my reproductive organs (not until I can donate them to a transwoman, because these are currently fully functioning and I’d love to give them to someone else honestly, like what a waste of a good, fertile baby maker). Any leftover money would be refunded to donors or would be put towards the removal of my fallopian tubes, to further myself from pregnancy (as post ablation pregnancies can be fatal to the pregnant person).

So I guess that’s the long winded version. But if you could share and/or donate and help me rid myself of this problem, I’d be ever so grateful. As I find out more what the costs will be like exactly, I will adjust the goal amount. Currently I am high balling it to ensure I will eventually have enough. Thank you for reading and sharing, I really appreciate it.

TL;DR: help a poor nonbinary person living in the deep south get rid of debilitating, dysphoria-inducing menstrual cramps
