My hand slipped—-but it was torn with what it wanted so it did two designs for him. NieR Automata has taken over my life and I weep for this game. I just had too design a thing for Prompto, but I definitely had a hard time trying to come up with something for his YorHa outfit more than the Resistance one! I like both though, y’all gotta stop me from creating AU’s for this man. It’s not healthy LOL
Motorcity is a cartoon that was running on Disney XD for a while, before Disney mis-managed the crap out of it, then cancelled it and sat on the rights and didn’t do anything with them, like a bunch of jerks. It’s available on iTunes, and it’s also on kimcartoon (altho there’s an audio error in those. I’m thinking about uploading my corrected copies somewhere so people can get them?? stay tuned)
ANYWAY. In the Far Future, a guy called Abraham Kane (AKA Mark Hamill AKA Luke Skywalker AKA The Joker) decided he didn’t like Detroit and he wanted a new city there instead. So he built his new city over top of Detroit, called it Detroit Deluxe. Deluxe is run by Kane Co. which is run by Abraham Kane.
(((^^^ The difference between a villain and a supervillain??? PRESENTATION.)))
So now that the whole stupid “human rights” thing is out of the way upstairs, his only remaining problem is the people who would rather live under the city, in old Detroit AKA “Motorcity”. Kane’s like “well, time to destroy this dump and build More Deluxe! :)” and Motorcity is like “hey fuck u we literally live here” and Kane’s like “I don’t know I can’t read all of a sudden”.
Our main characters have chosen to combat his drones, nano-viruses and private army with COLORFUL AND ECLECTIC CARS. Our main is an ex-commander from the aforementioned private army, his name is Mike Chilton and I love him. He’s good at basically everything, and you would think that would make him obnoxious but actually he’s a reckless, adorable puppy-dog mom friend who likes helping and driving too fast and diving off buildings and believing in people. He’s also canonically mixed-race, so that’s kinda neat.
He’s a Good Boy.
(And yes, the people who did the character design were also involved in Gorillaz, personally I like the aesthetic of Motorcity way better but they are similar in a lot of places)
it got cancelled, so there are only 20 episodes. And it does take an episode or two for it to get its feet under it.
YMMV, but I would say the first episode I really really liked was episode 5. (And not just b/c the Duke of Detroit is a fukkin gift, holy crap)
not enough ladies, and also they fall back on that thing that’s like “nerdy guy likes the Cute Girl, doesn’t take a hint” and it’s really annoying tbh. Both characters involved deserved better.
Rule of Cool. This show makes 0 sense sometimes, you gotta lean into that to enjoy it tbh. It is a silly, silly show (until the finale, then it fukkin destroys me every time)
Gorgeous, colorful backgrounds and character designs, super-unique style, #aesthetic for days.
a really fun, varied cast.
VILLAINS, the villains are so good. Mark Hamill’s villain voice-acting is second to none. A bizarrely flamboyant rock-star mob boss played by the lead singer of Twisted Sister, who is the embodiment of Chaotic Evil. A disillusioned eco-terrorist with fascinating bio-weapons and a ruthless/single-minded obsession with doing the same thing to Deluxe that Kane wants to do to Motorcity.
If you don’t mind some silliness/Rule of Cool, the episode plots are fun and I enjoy them. :)
Mike’s best friend is really anxious and scared of a lot of stuff and they’re adorably comfortable with each other and they have special nicknames for each other I’m sorry I have a lot of feelings about these nerds. (can u tell what splickedy’s ship is lol)
There’s a lot of room for character interpretation and backstory and stuff, and a lot of implied worldbuilding that’s super fun to build on.
the creators are/were really cool with fandom, altho they’re busy with other shows now. (the head writer retweeted one of my videos!! :D :D :D I’m still super jazzed)
in conclusion it’s cute I love it and I love the characters.
The design I came up with for that mini-AU, in which Twi’s a demon and Rarity enters a pact with her. The first one is her final design: given she is a demon of Knowledge she is practical and almost business like, hence her chosen appearance. Her wings fold against her back as if they were a cape because I thought it’d be super cool. ;_; Same thing with trying out dreads instead of her usual straight hairstyle for this.
The one below is the first iteration I did: got some good feedback and as much as I like the outfit it feels too… fancy? To dressy for someone like Twily (this Twily anyway) I suppose, but if the story is in need of such a thing at least I have one already designed. x3
Gonna go the route of the Space!AU and make the characters more design-y in terms of style. This is how I prefer to draw them; I love working with character designs. ;_;
Now I gotta design Rarity and thumbnail a speedpaint of the two of them, perhaps making the pact? o:
Yeeeeee!!!!! Finally finished my boatload of babies! Yeah I gotta say that Dipper is probs one of my favorite characters to draw (and to write but ya’ll already knew that) Either way, this is the first of several kinda “revamped” character sheets, which is something I’m gonna do for most of the major characters in UF, which will feature some AU designs and some non-AU designs. But for now, we got a bunch of Dips! And hey, look at me finally trying new stuff with posing for a change! Yaaaaaaaaay! Now, seeing as how I’m proud of how this turned out I’m gonna talk a lil bout these, mostly in doing what I usually do when it comes to this sorta thing. So…. going from the upper left and down…
1. We got our normal, average, adorkable UF Dipper 2. Then there’s Reverse Dipper, bein all mysterious and shit (with his fancy cape) 3. Then there’s a completely precious Gravity Rises Dipper who deserves all the hugs in the world, look at how cute and smiley he is!!! 4. Next is Teen Dipper, with those glasses that some of ya’ll bitched at me for for some reason I still don’t quite understand… (seriously why was this tiny lil change so controversial????) 5. Then we have an actiony Adult Dipper with some kinda laser??? Idk he’s probs about to kill someone so you know *shrugs* 6. Then there’s a cute lil Swap Dipper, messing around with his ice powers and stuff 7. Followed by an innocent, precious bby Water Mom (or Gem Bros, imo I imagine there really wouldn’t be much of a design change between those two AUs) Dipper, probs waiting for said Water Mom to come back 8. Then we got a poor, sad, angsty Crystal Falls Dipper, being sad and angsty and in need of hugs 9. Then there’s an adorably awkward Monster Falls Deer Dipper, who’s cute as heck as always! 10. Then there’s Stonemason, of course, pullin off a Hessonite-esque pose because mysterious or whatever 11. And then we got a Bipper, being needlessly self destructive! Boo! 12. Up next is of course, UF2 Dipper, who is absolutely adorable if ya ask me 13. And finally we have Adult Dipper from MK2 (he’s got such a Dad look lol)
And there you go, all the Dips! Really, I had SO much fun working on this, so please let me know what you think! Idk when I’ll do another one of these, but when I do, the next one is gonna be for Steven, probably. Either way, enjoy!!! ^_^
Taking another trip down memory lane. These are some T-shirt designs commissioned by former Minecraft youtuber SkyDoesMinecraft back in 2014. I think enough time has passed for me to finally upload these (Mostly for portfolio purposes)
Some made the cut, some didn’t. This was one of my first experiences as a freelance illustrator and I gotta admit I made a lot of mistakes, but in the end I learned from them and made me who I am today.
Colors for my old Clavat pic, from Final Fantasy’s Crystal Chronicles.
This game got a special place for me, it was one of the first times I got emotional playing a videogame. I reloaded the final fight when I saw the Memory Bubbles coming out, I had to get it right, no memory lost!
I also kinda made 8 characters to fill the home town, male and female for each race, though I only played alone XD I definitely gotta draw more of them in the future, they had some pretty nice designs
I finished this a few months ago but never managed to take pics! It’s finally cold enough so I’ve been wearing it three days straight ‘cause why not?
When I first decided to knit a sweater I tried to look up a pattern, but as always, couldn’t find one I liked. So I ended up designing it myself like I usually do. Deciding on the cables took me forever, I have so many notebook pages full of different ideas and I tried knitting 4 or 5 different combinations and finally ended up with this one, and I gotta say I’m really happy with it!
The sweater itself is pretty simple, just a rectangle with a few decreases for the sleeve opening. The sleeves took me a few tries but I managed to make them work. They’re a bit weird looking but I think they’ll get better as I wear it more and the yarn softens. The sleeves and back are just double seed stitch/double moss stitch.
It’s not perfect, but I’d say it’s pretty nice considering it’s my first ever sweater!
The yarn is Hjertegarn’s Lima, colour 710, 100% wool
Guess who I get to animate for my ANI 114 final! :D This project has been a lot of fun so far (and a lot of work). Gotta say, my favorite part was doing the character design :) I guess the animating is alright too, I’m almost done with my first rough pass. But here’s my model sheets and a layout!
beauty and what? you mean Lefou the movie? Yeah I like that one, and If you wanna hurt my precious son you gotta fight me first (ง'̀-‘́)ง
but honestly, the architecture and clothing design was beyond gorgeous, even tho her last dress was much better than Belle’s iconic yellow gown in my opinion.
But overall, I felt like Disney is still in the process to “get” the feeling in order to make a structural line with their adaptations. They’re getting there, but they’re not there yet.
It felt a bit overdone, as in they tried to bit off more than they could chew. So because of that, a lot of the delicate nuances and overall sensibility of the original got lost in order to “let’s put another song here”. Even tho some of the new songs are beautiful, I don’t really felt that they were needed?
and in my head, when you wanna make an adaptation of an animation, TIMING is much more important than improving the visuals, you know? The whole process of animation has such a long and perfectionist connection with the concept of timing, that when you compare both, you can see a huge difference on how one used in favor of the narrative while the other, struggled a considerably.
I thought it was kind of funny how they added a bunch of explanations to all lose points so many fans have once pointed out about the original tale and the animation. That was an interesting direction to see.
“Be our guest” my favorite song, and wow! my jaw dropped as I watched the scene unfold into something so beautiful I wish I could just make the time stop just to stare at each frame for hours.
But the animation’s opening sequence is also my favorite opening sequence of all Disney movies, and it felt confusing and (again) overdone. That’s a scene that they didn’t really need to change anything, and if they did just an exact replica of the original one it would have worked beautifully (if not better).
there’s a delicate feeling, so subtle and magical, in the way the beast and belle slow dance far away from the camera, lost in their own world, as miss potts soothing voice seem to be much closer to the audience that I missed in the whole movie.
but yeah, don’t fool yourself into thinking that I didn’t like the movie. Because I did, but I also definitely prefer the animation version after all.
Tests for a later illustration! I’m trying to challenge myself to do roughly one a month. I used to do a lot more finished illustrations, and while I’m not sad about trading most of my time over to comics/char design, I do kinda miss being decent at this. Gotta do two more art trades first, then commissions, then I can finally get to inking this bad boy. It’s about how August got their sword!
They only got their huge weird nasty choppin’ saw after nearly bleeding out in an old, flooded burial mound. Their original sword had been taken from them as they fled from a particularly terrible fight: Augustine’s first encounter with an untainted knight of the realm since their turning. Glutton knights are considered to be hideous affronts to the honor of true knights, so the duel got pretty brutal pretty fast, and Augustine’s hesitation was nearly their undoing.
Ghosts can be a bit touchy. But a tomb full of dead warriors is likely to be rather sympathetic to a wounded fellow in arms, even a monstrous one. And while ceremonial burial weapons aren’t always the most practical tools, they are generally enchanted to withstand time, the elements, and maintain an edge over the centuries. Which kind of makes up for how stupid they look.
Since this is a WIP, any critiques would be welcome before I move on to the physical inking stage!
Part of the Star Trek Discovery season 1 finale -series of designs. Inspired by the season ending episode: Will You Take My Hand. My final spur of creations before the long awaited hiatus: just coughing up all the suppressed inspirations from along the way, that the last twist of the season is now finally releasing.
Double feature this time: you can hang this either way… and it will never be fully upright! Frustrating isn’t it 8D “New beginning a si dne yreve” - yes, annoying. And I hate love it!
Nothing more about it (for once! Be thankful XD). Gotta rush to do some more.
I did a for fun digital art piece for the first time in a realllllllly long time. Finals were today. Im officially on break. Which meant catching up with all the star vs the forces of evil episodes. Gotta draw magic wand marco next. But I was so happy when my salty summer child returned.
Hello, all, and thank you for following this blog! Currently, Love is Blue - A Bayonetta Zine vol 1 is in the works. You read correctly, there’s a vol 2 that’s in the works as vol 1 is wrapping up. The amount of submissions I had received was more than what was anticipated, so those that didn’t make the first cut got a chance to participate in a vol 2 instead!
Vol 2 will be a themed zine, centered around Bayonetta and crew in fashion, whether it be original fashion or in game fashion. The artists have already begun working on their designs, and I gotta say, it’s looking pretty fantastic so far!
November 16th is when the last and final designs will be done for vol 1, and preorders will be out November 20th! So, keep an eye out for that on that date and be sure to grab a copy! Each vol will be featuring different merch as well, so keep this in mind! You won’t be seeing merch from vol 1 back in vol 2!
Thank you all again for the support, and I look forward to giving you all the final version of this zine!
- all your answers should have only ONE character, unless stated otherwise. (i understand that it’ll be hard since all the Haikyuu characters are all so lovable but pls, pick only ONE otherwise there wouldn’t be any point to this game!)
- if you want to elaborate your answer as to why you picked something, go ahead! there is an implied why in all the questions.
- tag at least 10 other people. (share the Haikyuu love ♥‿♥)
- if you get tagged, pls copy the rules as well.
- and enjoy! (★^O^★) the whole point of this tag game is to have fun~
I was tagged by @sleep-pose!! THANK YOU this was really fun (also im going to take this opportunity to say I think you’re cooler than a cucumber)
So what are your overall analysis thoughts on Desgin your date?
I finished reading Design Your Date a few weeks ago, but I haven’t had the time to write a review until now. Thank you for being so patient. The story is forgettable.
MC moves to a new town and meets her mysterious neighbor. The neighbor shows no interest in her, but I customized the neighbor, so I gotta date her. There’s a subplot with the neighbor’s sister running around at night with a baseball bat. And MC has a friend named Jason who exists for expositional purposes. That’s pretty much it. Not much happened in Design Your Date.
The ending is the worst part of the story. MC and LI finally get together. LI bails on their first date, dropping the bombshell that she’s moving away. MC and LI agree to maintain a long-distance relationship. The end. There was no payoff for reading seven chapters. The author was probably trying to subvert my expectations, but she instead decimated any interest I could’ve possibly had in the story. That’s seven passes I’m never getting back.
The writing and directing are basic. The plot is nonsensical. Don’t bother with this story. You’ll read a chapter of it and then immediately forget what you read.
