but when nothing good happens in the present you just got to live in the past

What we really need is an adaptation of the original 1740 The Beauty and the Beast

So were you aware that the The Beauty and the Beast story we all know is a heavily abridged and rewritten version of a much longer novella by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve?  And that a lot of the plot holes existing in the current versions exist because the 1756 rewrite cut out the second half of the novella, which consisted entirely of the elaborate backstory that explains all the weird shit that happened before?  And that the elaborate backstory is presented in a way that’s kind of boring because the novel had only just been invented in 1740 and no one knew how they worked yet, but contains a bazillion awesome ideas that beg for a modern retelling?  And that you are probably not aware that the modern world needs this story like air but the modern world absolutely needs this story like air?  Allow me to explain:

The totally awesome elaborate backstory that explains Beauty and the Beast

  • Once upon a time there was a king, a queen, and their only son
  • But while the prince was still in his infancy, in a neat reversal of how these fairy tales usually go, the king tragically died, leaving his wife to act as Regent until their son reaches maturity
  • Unfortunately, the rulers of all the lands surrounding them go, “Hmm, the kingdom is ruled by a woman now, it must be weak, time for an invasion!”
  • And the Queen goes, “Well, if I let some general fight all these battles for me, he’ll totally amass enough fame and power to make a bid for the throne; if I want to protect my son’s crown, I have no choice but to take up arms and lead the troops myself!
  • (Btw, I want to stress that this woman is not Eowyn or Boudica and nothing in the way her story is presented suggests that she had any interest martial exploits before or in any way came to enjoy them during these battles.  This is a perfectly ordinary court lady who would much rather be embroidering altar covers for the royal chapel and playing with her child until necessity made her go, “Oh no, this sucks, I guess I have to become a Warrior Queen now” and she just happened to kick ass at it anyway.)
  • And the Queen totally kicked ass, but the whole “twice as good for half the credit” thing meant that no matter how many battles she won, potential enemies refused to take her and her army seriously until she had defeated them so no sooner would she fend off one invasion than another one would pop up on a different border.
  • So she spent the majority of her young son’s life away from the castle leading armies, but it was OK because she left him in the care of her two best friends, who just happen to be fairies!  This was an awesome idea because a) fairies have magic, and therefore are like the best people to protect the prince from any threats and b) fairies consider themselves to be so above humanity that the lowest fairy outranks the highest mortal, so they’d have no interest in taking a human throne.  Good thing they were both good fairies instead of one good and one evil one!
  • (Spoiler:  they were not both good fairies.)
  • So the two fairies basically take turns raising the prince until he’s old enough to rule.  And on the eve of his twenty-first birthday, the evil older one comes into the prince’s bedroom.
  • “So listen, kid.  You’re about to become king, your mother’s on her way home from the war to see you crowned, and I have a third piece of good news for you!  You see, I’ve actually been spending so much time here lately because Fairyland’s become a bit too hot to hold me for reasons totally not related to me being secretly evil.  And if I have to hang in the human world, I might as well reside in the upper echelons of it, so even though as a powerful fairy I completely eclipse your puny human status in a staggeringly unimaginable way, since you’re about to be king and since my premonition that I should stick this whole guardianship thing out because you would be hot one day has totally proved accurate (go me), I will graciously lower myself to allowing you to marry me.  Please feel free to grovel at my feet in gratitude.  (Btw, we can totally start the wedding night now, we’ll tell your mother about it when she arrives tomorrow.)”

You associated every song of yours to a specific time and place.

The whimsical cluster chords that opened up Blue Afternoon made you think of the view from your window last spring. Looking down on the busy streets of Seoul from your flat, a crowding of umbrellas had danced to the sound of heavy rain, and you had been immediately struck with a melody line.

That was your favorite part of songwriting – that moment when you finally had something, after having absolutely nothing.

Ironically enough, out of all the songs on your album, you disliked Paper Doll the most.

Even before it had been propelled to the top of the music charts, the song had never been a favorite. The melody line was catchy but predictable, with the most common chord progressions and an overproduced chorus. The people reviewing your songs during the album production had all loved it, however, and they had adamantly decided to push it as a title track.

It was amusing how people presumed the song described a devastating heartbreak between you and your first love. They weren’t exactly wrong, but their interpretation was completely off. Still, you weren’t stupid enough to disapprove their theories. If they wanted to believe that your first boyfriend was a heartless playboy, then that wasn’t your problem.

At least you had never thought it would have to be a problem.

anonymous asked:

How about Altean Prince Lance and Galra Keith?

Wah! I assume you mean fic or headcanon? Not sure. Let’s go with something  in between coz I haven’t had coffee yet so please excuse errors in this piece.

KLance for breakfast, why not? :D

Six Unreasonable Things He Hated About The Altean Prince And The Seventh Thing That Made Sense

1. Keith hated Lance’s—Prince Lance’s, as he often corrected himself, urgh—Keith hated his royal pain in the ass’ horrible sense of schedule or lack thereof. He never had a schedule when coming to the woods and Keith had to fucking figure it out on his own when the prince would decide to just leave the castle go on a stroll. Or skinny dip. Or hunt rodents. Or let the trees cast its leafy shadows on his face illuminated by the quietly greeting sunlight peeking from the gaps between the branches as he quietly slept near the lake. Not that Keith had any opinion of that particular scene playing out.

2. Keith hated that Lance thought slipping past his bodyguards to go wherever or do whatever was cool. It wasn’t. Dangerous was what it was. What did he think the crown was paying his bodyguards for if not to protect him? What if something happened to him? What if he got kidnapped? What if he tripped on his own stupidity and fell off a cliff? While it was true that nothing of the sort had come close to happening, Keith wasn’t taking any chances. So he kept watch.

3. Keith hated how Lance was bad at hunting. Well, not especially bad but just not good enough for Keith’s standards. There were far better ways to hold a dagger and more efficient ways to lay out a trap. Even Galra children knew this and… And holy hell, has no one told the prince that it was a bad idea to hide with his ass sticking out like that, the idiot? The big stupid Altean idiot. Why was Keith still looking!?

4. Keith hated how Lance lied about not bringing a gun when he went to the woods despite having the best aim in possibly all of Altea. His reason was that he wanted a challenge and guns would make hunting lose its challenge. The truth was that the guards had been so alert with his escaping shenanigans that escaping with guns had went from “can do if done right” to “nope, they have detectors now”. Had Lance never heard of slingshots, though?

5. Keith hated that Lance was bad with daggers and swords. His swings were often too wide and too wild and his footwork was passable at best that Keith’s Galra upbringing were starting to make alarm bell noises. Lance was tall, lean, and fit. With constant and diligent training and exercise, handling blades wouldn’t be a chore. Keith would teach him but the opportunity had never presented itself and Keith wasn’t in any position to be making opportunities for them. Or him. Not them. There was no “them”.

6. Keith hated how Lance needed to go back home, back to the castle surrounded by sturdy walls, patrolled by guards, no longer visible from the forest where Keith lived.

7. Keith hated being a nobody stalking the Altean Prince Lance like this.

They weren’t friends. Not even acquaintances. Lance didn’t know he existed.

He wasn’t Lance’s bodyguard, wasn’t a knight secretly hired to keep him safe,  wasn’t part of his royal court anything. He wasn’t patriotic of any sort, wasn’t a diplomat and had no dreams of being so, and he sure as hell wasn’t looking up to the prince like he would an idol but… But Keith saw him one day. Randomly. Out of chance. The Galra was hunting for food and he found an Altean prince instead.

If it wasn’t for the crest on his shoulder, Keith wouldn’t even know Lance was a prince at first sight because Keith thought royalty was supposed to look, er, royal.  And Lance was nothing but happy-go-lucky sunshine that had Keith waiting in the forest every morning just to see if the Altean Prince managed to slip by his guards and run to have his little “adventures” again. He’d learned his name from one of the guards who found the prince sleeping under a tree and fuck if Keith didn’t stab that large armored stranger if his Galra senses had been a second late in realizing that this creature wasn’t a threat.

That’s when Keith properly realized the gap. Lance was an Altean Prince. And Keith… Keith was just some random Galra who had illegally migrated to Altea, finding refuge in a random god damn forest. Finding Lance was purely out of chance and Keith should be thankful. Any more than that was too much to ask.

But the first time Lance didn’t come to the woods for more than a week straight, Keith was this damn close to breaching the castle walls to get to the bottom of everything. What happened? Where was he? Was he sick? Did he die? Did he trip on a rock and die? Did something go wrong when he escaped and he died? Did he get kidnapped and die?

So Keith promised himself and any divinities who would possibly hear his prayers if they existed that he’d stop being a creep in exchange for Lance being okay. That he’d either man up and introduce himself or just straight out stop stalking.

But Lance showed up the next day and everything went back to “normal”. They were back to Lance coming to the forest at least once a week and Keith watching him do whatever. But only from afar. Forever from afar.

Persistence

content: Dean feels uncomfortable with the flirting attempts by the cashier at the grocery store, but thankfully Castiel comes to his rescue – though seriously not the way Dean expected.

word count: 2,174

Dean really doesn’t like visiting the small grocery store in Lebanon right at the town’s center.

And thankfully most of the time he’s got other options – mainly the big supermarket next to the highway –, but once in a while he’s got no other choice due to time issues or saving gas or whatever else might come up.

And it’s not like the store itself is crappy or something. No, not at all. It may be small, but it’s got everything they need, even Dean’s favorite brand of beer. Hell, they even sell those awesome chocolate brownies you can’t find nearly anywhere anymore!

So yeah, it’s a nice enough store.

But there’s a big problem – the cashier who seems to live in that stupid shop!

At least Dean’s got that impression since she’s always there when he walks through the door, smiling at him so broadly as soon as she spots him as if the only purpose of her life is waiting for Dean to arrive at the store.

Her name is Stacy and she looks like seventeen although she reassured him many times before (by emphasizing Every. Single. Word.) that she’s old enough to drink – while at the same time giggling like she just shared a juicy secret and fluttering her eyelashes in a way she probably thinks seductive. Her flirting attempts are countless, clumsy, awkward and leave Dean highly uncomfortable.

But she never stops.

Dean can’t help admiring her persistence a bit. Not even hints that he could easily be her father age wise made her back off. Dean tried being nice and polite about it and used grumbles and grunts a few weeks later when his maturity hadn’t been very effective, but nothing seems to impress that girl. Every time Dean starts to talk and attempts to make himself clear she simply sighs deeply and gazes into his eyes or checks out his ass, not at all interested in what he has to say.

It’s infuriating.

Even the apocalypse hadn’t been that annoying.

They get a call from a concerned neighbor and it turns out Keith had been severely neglected to the point where he’s mostly nonverbal, and Shiro’s workplace takes custody of him.

Shiro was the first one on the scene and he was the one who coaxed Keith out of the house, he made sure to speak softly and tell him that he was safe and, when he figured out that Keith couldn’t or wouldn’t speak, made sure to ask yes or no questions that he could nod or shake his head to. Because he didn’t even have a change of clothes, Shiro gave Keith his jacket and let him keep it and now Keith just latches onto him instantly.

genre(s): fluff

a/n: thank you to @cherryonsimon for the beta and @amazingmsme for the prompt!!

baz has a thing for simon’s wings, especially when he’s having a bad day

Simon
I can tell Baz’s had a bad day the moment he enters the flat, slamming the door behind him and muttering about daft professors and fucking study groups and–for some reason–his father. Baz has bad days and then he has Bad Days, and I can tell today is the latter.  His face is pinched, his frown is deep, and I’m not shocked when he doesn’t stop to kiss me on his way in.

Baz doesn’t live with Penny and me, but he’s over here often enough that it feels like it sometimes. He’s even got his own key and drawer. His shampoo is next to mine in the shower. It’s not much different than when we were roommates at Watford, except it feels more domestic now, means something different. There we cohabitated because we had to, now we do it because we want to. It’s scary sometimes how okay I am with that.

Baz claims it’s just because Fiona is gone so much and he can’t be bothered to buy food, but I know better.

I also know better than to push him to admit things.

It took us a while to get to this point, if I’m honest. We still get into it, even now that we’re together. Some things never really change. He’s overdramatic, Baz is. And stubborn. And I suppose I can be a bit stubborn at times too, which isn’t very helpful when you’re having a row and neither side will back down.

But I’m always careful around him when he gets like this and I always know what he needs.

The first time it happened, we’d been on the couch watching Masterchef reruns. I’d been about to get up to get a snack because the show always makes me hungry, when I felt Baz’s fingers brushing my right wing. My first instinct was to pull it back until I noticed his expression. He looked peaceful as he stroked it and I found I didn’t mind the sensation all that much. Or having to give up my snack.

Actually, that’s a lie.  I pushed him away about 10 minutes later and got some crisps from the kitchen. He looked ready to throttle me until I handed him his own bag (salt & vinegar) and we resumed our earlier position.

It’s turned into a routine. Most days it’s just idle touches here and there, but on bad days, especially Bad Days, Baz likes to snuggle under them like a child. I don’t mind. I spent so long making him miserable, I’d do most anything to make him happy.

Baz
Fucking Snow is waiting by the door when I get home, looking like a kicked puppy when I shove my way past him to the bathroom. I strip down once I’m there and turn on the shower, hotter than it needs to be. I need to wash this day off of my skin, scald myself until it’s completely gone and I can forget about every little thing that went wrong.

I know he won’t try to talk to me about it. It’s one of the (many) things I love about Simon. He understands that sometimes it’s okay to just… not talk.

I can hear him bustling around the flat even through the bathroom door. He’s not exactly quiet, especially when he’s always bumping things with his wings or tripping over that damn tail.

I step under the spray and let the water run down my back. The slight burn feels good. Therapeutic. Grabbing my shampoo from the shelf where I’d left it the last time I was here, I start to wash up.

Occasionally I think I should stop pretending and just move in properly, but we really do need space from each other sometimes. Still, I’ve left so much over here. Like clothes. And shampoo. My shampoo that Simon used once, when his ran out, and I hated it. He smelled… wrong. Which is about a thousand times worse when you’ve got a vampiric supernose.

I finish up in the shower and put on a pair of Simon’s trackies. I briefly consider nicking a t-shirt as well, but the holes on the back always feel weird, like a draft right on your shoulder blades.

When I enter the lounge Simon’s waiting with a cup of tea and his wing open at his side. He’s put in the dvd for the first season of Downton Abbey, a major acquiescence on his part (although he does occasionally get into the storylines).

I sit next to him and lean into his side. He rests his wing on my shoulder, effectively wrapping me up, and I exhale and reach for the cup. He’s made it just the way I like it, the way only he knows: with lots of sugar and light on the milk. The exact opposite of him. His own pale brown cup is sitting half-drunk on the coffee table, probably already cold. Simon has a habit of doing that.

“I like this.” I say and take a sip. It’s perfect.

“I know,” he replies, “you don’t exactly keep it a secret.”

It’s true. I’m a bit obsessed with Simon’s wings. Sue me. I’m always finding excuses to touch them, especially on days like this when nothing seems to be going quite right and all I want to do is curl up on the couch and hide from the world.

Once I’ve finished my tea, we rearrange ourselves on the couch so I’m almost in Simon’s lap and both of his wings are surrounding me. We lay like that until the first episode fades into the second and I realize that Simon’s fallen asleep behind me. I feel his warm breath against the back of my neck as he begins to snore softly. It’s comforting, this routine.

I suppose it’s not quite normal–normal, not Normal–to enjoy being cocooned by a pair of wings belonging to your boyfriend, but then again, nothing about our life is.

And that’s perfectly fine by me.

The skype call one: Klance! :D

For an anon who requested Keith out of town Skyping a sick Lance, who passes out while they’re talking, and their landlord and friend Shiro has to come to the rescue. I made them all in their mid-20′s, and gave them all jobs that I headcanon them with. Keith is an investment banker, Hunk was a co-owner of a mechanics shop that closed and now works for Keith, Shiro is a yoga instructor (which: fuckin sign me up for that class hot dAMN), Pidge (though she isn’t in this fic) is an engineer, Allura (also not in this fic) is a CEO, and Lance is a phlebotomist. I hope it’s okay!

Side note, I’m actually pretty proud of the dialogue at the end. I think it’s damn cute. I can’t write relationships but I can kinda sorta write flirting???

The One

IMAGINE: If you asked Steve about his dream girl, his ‘the one’, he would have never described her, never even would have thought of her…funny how things work out.

‘I don’t want you to love me because I’m good for you, because I say and do all the right things. Because I am everything you are looking for…’

There was something in the way that she walked, she talked or the way she did anything that set him on fire. He’s never met a more infuriating person. A more different person than he was.

“I just don’t get why you’re being so emotional about this,” she rolled her eyes as she watched Steve sigh once again.

“(Y/N)…” Steve looked at the woman in front of him. The thick fashion magazine held in her hand, “Just because it’s not about fashion or tearing someone down does not mean that you shouldn’t care about this.”

She bit her lip, “It’s just Tony.”

“Exactly, he’s going to break her heart,” he explained. “She’s only a kid (Y/N).”

(Y/N) sat down next to him, “Look Rogers, it’s their life and she wants to be with him then let her. Just support her.”

“He’s just going to use her,” Steve spoke quietly.

In an instant (Y/N)’s demeanor change. Long gone was the somewhat caring girl, it was now replaced by her usual stance around him -cold, hard and unfeeling. “You watch your mouth Rogers, because I swear to god if you throw Tony’s past in his face, I will hurt you.” Her grip tightened on the magazine.

Steve turned around and looked into her eyes. There was anger underlying it, fire in her eyes. “She’s like a sister to me. He’s the type of person that can hurt someone.”

(Y/N) stood up sharply, and through gritted teeth she spoke, “And he’s like a brother to me Rogers.” She leaned forward, him leaning as she got closer, “You watch your mouth around me.” (Y/N) moved back and started walking away. “By the way, he’s the type of person that can only hurt someone if they’ve hurt him first, so maybe don’t judge on him when you don’t know all the facts.”

She walked faster to the door, slamming it as hard as she can.

‘… I want to be the one that you didn’t see coming. The one who gets under your skin. Who makes you unsteady. Who makes you question everything you have ever believed in love. Who makes you feel reckless and out of control. The one you are infuriatingly and inexplicably drawn to…’

If you told Steve Rogers that one day he’ll wake up with a strange inkling that will soon lead to the discovery that he found (Y/N) attractive and that he actually liked her, he would have probably laughed in your face and politely say that ‘you’re crazy.’

That was the conundrum that he found himself in as he watched her laugh with Bucky and Sam. Of course he still found her annoying and judgemental, and the complete opposite of himself, as well as what he found attractive. But watching her laugh with his two best friends, her head thrown back without any care, her hips jutting out as she told off Sam for doing something stupid. There was just something about her that he couldn’t explain.

“Why do you keep staring at her?” Pietro asked as he stood next to Steve.

Steve turned to Pietro, “I just wanted to know how such a small girl can contain so much evil in her.”

“She’s not that bad,” Pietro started. “She’s only like that whenever she’s around you.”

“She criticizes everything that I do, from the way I walk or my clothes -did you know that she hates me wearing plaid? I apparently have the entire of plaid in my wardrobe.” He paused and looked at her again, “It’s just she’s so different from the women that I’m used to.”

“Why does that have to be a bad thing?”

Steve took a while  to come up with his answer. Opening his mouth to voice out something but every time he did Steve felt that it wasn’t the right thing to say. Finally he came to the conclusion, “It’s not.”

“Don’t you realize that maybe why you hate her is because you like her?” Pietro spoke, tilting his head towards her direction. When Steve didn’t speak, Pietro broke out into a huge grin and chuckled, “Fuck, you’re hell bent crushing on her! That’s why you’re staring at her so much with that stupid-loved up look on your face!” Steve glared at Pietro who wasn’t deterred by the intimidating look on the super soldier.

As Pietro walked away he saw that (Y/N)’s conversations with the boys has finished and started walking over to where he was. He saw her smile at him and he probably thought that she forgot that he was Steve Rogers.

“Rogers,” she greeted. She looked him up and down, “Not wearing plaid I see.”

“What is it with you and the plaid?” He groaned. He honestly couldn’t understand it. Plaid isn’t that bad and he didn’t have that many plaid shirts.

She shrugged, “I have something for you.” She walked past him, knowing that he would follow her even though she didn’t ask him. Her aura commanded him. Steve rolled his eyes. Typical.

When they reached her bedroom, he looked around apprehensively taking in her bedroom. It was nice, it was minimal barely any decorations. He walked to her table where a cork table was placed. He smiled when he saw that it was pictures of her and the Avengers scattered around what he guessed was mementos. “You kept this?” He pointed at the ticket stub in bottom left corner, one that was hidden behind everything.

(Y/N) turned around and saw that he was touching the ticket stub gingerly, “I had a good time.” She remembered the day vividly, it was when everyone was on their mission and she was stuck at the compound because she broke her arm, while Steve was struck with a fever. She was bored and she was stuck babysitting him, so she decided to take him to the MET when he was feeling better. Up until that day she didn’t know that they had anything in common, other than the fact that he was her match when it came to verbal sparring.

He found out that art is one of her biggest passions and that she wanted to become an art historian but certain things happened that led her to follow in her father’s footsteps. Steve remembered thinking that maybe she wasn’t the shallow, vapid girl he thought she was. Like an art piece there was always something meaningful behind everything.

Their days were spent talking about his past and how he felt about the future, watching movies from his time and her being surprised when he quoted Casablanca. He hesitantly revealed to her that it was one of the first movies that he saw when he came out of the ice.

Everything was fine until the others got back and they were back at their old habits again, though this time it felt less personal and more for a show.

“Aha!” She proclaimed as she opened a drawer and pulled out a neatly wrapped present. It was blue and white, with a red bow on top. “Gotta have that Captain America theme,” she winked at him and passed him the present.

He opened the present slowly, trying carefully not to rip the paper. Once he saw what was wrapped, words got stuck in his throat. “(Y/N)…”

“Don’t start crying on me Rogers,” she warned but there was no malice in her voice.

He pulled the paper away. It was his drawing that he did of everyone, a drawing of a photograph that she and he both proudly displayed in their bedrooms. He thought he lost it when Natasha did her usual random clearing of everything in everyone’s rooms. “This is beautiful.” He stroked the frame, it was gold and one of those smaller frames that held priceless arts in the museums. “Thank you so much.”

She shrugged, thinking nothing of it. “Guess my barging into people’s rooms is a good thing.” She walked over to him, her heart filling with warmth as he gazed and touched the picture frame. “At least your abnormally large hands can create something good.”

As Steve left her room, he found himself in another conundrum. How did he get into this situation? How did he manage to find a person that was the complete opposite of him, the untraditional girl who set his soul on fire. The girl who he disliked with so much passion, the one who constantly bickered with him, manage to make him feel like he’s never felt before?

‘… I don’t want to be the one who tucks you into bed -I want to be the reason why you can’t sleep at night.’

When Steve was a young child he knew what love meant. It meant being there for the person that you cared for. It was easy. It was safe. There were no fights, if there was there was it would just be little bickers. Steve would come home, greet his wife and children and they would live happily ever after. He dreamt for that life, he yearned for it, even after he came out of the ice.

Then she came into his life and turned everything upside down. She was a constant thorn in his side that manage to somehow, overtime, turn into one of the most beautiful flowers he has ever seen. Maybe she wasn’t a thorn after all, maybe she was just a particularly prickly bud that he judged based on appearance, but after he got a closer look, after it took time, she turned into something else.

“Weren’t we supposed to have this massive epiphany that you liked me? Or you know someone makes this giant I like you speech and this is why I like you?” (Y/N) spoke as she chopped the carrot.

Steve shrugged, “You don’t like grand gestures.”

(Y/N) turned to face him, hand clutching the knife, “Excuse me! I do too like grand gestures, as long as they don’t embarrass me,” she started listing of things and Steve found himself looking at her. Really looking at her. The only time that he paid attention was when she pinched him. “Are you even paying attention?”

“Careful with that knife (Y/N),” he plucked it out of her hands and she rolled her eyes. “I didn’t have a great epiphany because the feeling was always there so I just woke up one day and went ‘oh, I like her’,” he finished his speech with a casual shrug.

He went back to chopping the onions, his peripheral vision allowed him to see that she was still in the same position. She picked up the knife and started chopping the carrots. “You’re such a sap.” Steve smiled as she said those words, it was her basically saying that she liked him as well.

“I don’t get why we can’t have steak (Y/N)!” Pietro yelled as he picked his food with his fork. “There are proteins that we need.”

“Because Tony decided that he wants to try vegetarianism,” (Y/N) rolled her eyes. “So we have to cater for the almighty Iron Man.” She threw a bean at him which he caught and smiled at her.

Steve sat next to her watching as she kept making faces at Tony, and not at all enjoying her food. He made a mental note to take her to Taco Bell after dinner. Maybe it was that moment that made him know that he really, truly, deeply in love with her. With her hair cascading down her face, and she made an aggravated noise when it fell in front of her face. Or maybe it was the way that she got along with other people, or maybe. There were too many maybe’s what he did know was that he wanted to say it out loud for everyone to know.

“Excuse me,” he spoke loudly as he stood up. “I just wanted to let everyone to know that I love (Y/N).” Steve could feel the glare from (Y/N), and the amused stares from the others. “I love her because she secretly loves me in plaid, she said so. The fact that she cries whenever that giraffe ad comes on, I love her-,” he didn’t get to finish as (Y/N) yelled at him. ‘

“STEVE GRANT ROGERS!” (Y/N) stood up, her face red due to embarrassment, but she couldn’t help but feel giddy and light inside.

“I also love her when she screams out my name just like that,” he winked at everyone and made a mad dash to the door.

“ROGERS!” With an ungraceful stand she began running after him, but not before flipping off everyone in the room, causing them to laugh louder.

She finally caught up to him, took her shoe off and hit him, “Did you just throw your shoe at me?” Steve turned around amused.

“I cannot believe you did that!”

“You said you loved grand gestures,” he teased as he picked up the shoe and started walking towards her.

“I specifically said that I hated grand gestures.”

He shrugged and wrapped his arms around her, “But I love you so I should get a pass for that.”

“The only people that get a pass for embarrassing me are the people that I love,” she smirked at him, hoping that he got what she was saying. She watched as he fiddled with the hem of her shirt.

“You love me,” she scowled at the shit-eating grin on his face.

“You’re an idiot.” She wrapped her arms around his neck, “But maybe I somewhat love you.” (Y/N) pressed her lips against his. Steve tightened his arms around her and smiled into the kiss.

“Guys, oh my god! Gross!” Sam yelled as he walked into the room and saw the couple heavily making out. Sam made a face and began gagging. “Get a room!” He made a disgusted noise and yelled at them once more and left the room.

Part 1. Best friends, nothing more, nothing less!

A road bump wakes you up. You’re in a car, driving. The tears dried as they found their own way down your cheeks. Your eyes are puffy . This wasn’t just a dream.

Same old story, happening again. As soon as you start to call a place home,  and make a few friends, your mother finds yet another boyfriend who convinces her to start fresh somewhere else , ‘A new beginning, the opportunities of a new life…’ Yadda yadda…..or better yet ‘I have a criminal record here, we can’t stay’. You’re only ten and you can see through their lies. Sometimes you wonder, is your mother just stupid, too desperate to have a man by her side or is she just a pathetic drunk?

‘We’re here’ Nick announces as he parks.

Your mom gets out of the car, excited. She knocks on your window three times. ‘Come on honey, let’s check out our new home’

You roll your eyes and follow her. Oh, did I mention you just arrived in the middle of nowhere, mountains of Georgia?

‘Hey kid, grab some bags will ‘ya?’ Nick scolds you, mumbling something about how you’re so useless.

You ignore him and decide to explore instead. You sneak between the tree lines and run, giggling.

This may not be that bad after all. The area is pretty beautiful, you’ve seen worse. A lot worse.

You look around and sigh. So far no neighbors , except for  the huge forest surrounding everything. Do trees count as neighbors? But at least you have nature, and a lot of open field to play.

‘Y/N , baby where did ya go?’  Your mother calls for you. Probably to make you clean while they have beers and cigarettes. You run deeper into the forest, expecting to find a hiding place.

Episode 15...

Okay… I don’t have a lot of time to write this so if I’ve missed anything, if there are any huge grammatical errors, if I’ve COMPLETELY missed the point then I’m very, very sorry!  (I may write more later as I have a lot of thoughts)

Here’s the deal.

This episode was basically the writers way of telling us Oliver and Susan aren’t going to make it. Which is why I’m so okay with it. Did chunks of it feel off? Yes. Did Oliver come across as kind of spineless? Yes. Did Shady Snoozan come across as even more of a selfish cow than we thought she was? Absolutely. Did we feel for Felicity? Damn straight. Did we see everything we HATE seeing from Arrow ON Arrow? Yup…

Do you think the writers, directors and producers don’t (etc) know we hate it?

Of course they flipping do.

Is episode 15 normally the episode where we what we really don’t want to fucking see?

Again, YES.

Would it have been better to just be rid of SW? Oh hell yes- I’LL FREAKING DO IT!

But then, how will Prometheus succeed in turning someone Oliver cares about against him?

Starting, I’d like to say something about Oliver.

He’ll always do dumb shit: I expect it now. I’d love to be rid of it. But I expect it.

In episode 15, a lot of the time I was basically wondering when he became so needy. And by needy I don’t mean ‘he lives and breathes SW’. I mean, he desperately wanted her to see him as the good guy. The hero. Someone who has succeeded in securing the affections of a woman determined to see him as a thug.

Notice how Felicity tells him he’s a hero in this episode without prompt? Don’t you think that was a deliberate script device?

It’s been done before; right when he needs to hear it, there she is. Telling him. Again. SW didn’t say it; she did.

The wonderful @almondblossomme hit the nail on the head: episode 15 was a compare and contrast of how Felicity and Susan differ.

Just one example: SW cared more about her job than anything else. The moment she got it back she was all over him. Hate the bitch. Whereas Felicity has, time and time again, given up professional standing for Oliver. I’m just going to leave that there because I don’t need to hammer in just how much better Felicity is.

What I do want to say – to emphasise – is how alone Felicity was.

Now I’d like to stop you before you all go off on the rampage because, as much as I understand why, this was also deliberate. This episode was the point where Felicity didn’t just feel alone, she was alone. They deliberately had everyone miss this about her: Dig who knew her better than most and Oliver who knows her best of all… even Thea.

No one saw it.

They even had Oliver come to ask for her help with Susan.

In her head, she has nothing.

So she turns to Helix.

Now I’m thrilled with this because Olicity’s ADULT CONVERSATION is going to happen whilst SW is kidnapped: no shady lady to interrupt. But I’m also guessing that Felicity once again uses her skills and connections to help Oliver in HIS life. To help him be happy or at least that is what she’ll believe she’s doing.

He might see this; her wanting him to be happy and he’ll wonder why SHE ISN’T. He’ll ask questions. He’ll ask why are you doing this for me? And she’ll say some variation of: “I just want you to be happy.”

Pause.

They really are reversing it this year between them aren’t they?

Now we’ve been informed that SW will be held by Chase for more than 1 episode. This is to drum up the panic of it all – though they know we couldn’t care less – but it also gives Prometheus enough time to infect SW.

To pervert her easily changeable perception of Oliver. There’s more than a good chance she’ll come out of it either openly hostile towards him or wanting nothing to do with him out of fear.

(Now, it’s almost possible that she could be working in collaboration with Prometheus but either way they’re making her a victim.)

They’re also making her a loose end and a nuisance. A weak point. Unnecessary. A target, Like Billy. On purpose.

Look Green Arrow: look how easily you loose the people who care about you?

(like she does, ahem)

Oliver was trying so hard to move on and his first true attempt has fallen flat on its ass, he knows it has. But he’s fighting. He’s fighting because taught him to, he’s fighting because she said NO. She didn’t want him to fight and it’s so much easier beating your head against play-do than it is against steel.

THAT’S WHY HE WANTED SW TO FORGIVE HIM.

The questionable circumstances of HOW would have come to him later; but all he wanted right then was to succeed.

This is all about Olicity: if he can make it work here, maybe he can make it work there.

Prometheus deliberately targeted Billy. He did this in the hopes of screwing Oliver’s life up some. But, though this created a vacuum of guilt in Oliver, it did not turn Felicity against him.

Now, he’s taken SW, when CONVENIENTLY the only way to help find her rests with HELIX. With Felicity. Role reversal.

Either the writers are being very obvious or very sneaky.

Remember Ray? Remember how Felicity was all over keeping him safe and with her in episodes 17 and 19? She even did PDA IN FRONT OF OLIVER.

Episode 15 of season 5 is roughly our 17 equivalent.

Either – like Billy – SW is going to bite it, or it’ll be the consequences of what happen to her that cause a ripple effect afterwards on Olicity.

It caused a ripple after Billy’s death too: Oliver and Felicity had a very real, very honest conversation/argument.

THIS will force another one: possibly more than one (dear God PLEASE).

I always thought that two or three very brutal, very open talks between them would shift EVERYTHING. It just so happens the writers had to space it out for an entire season.

This season has been one full of ‘how to not do relationships with Oliver’. It focuses on 3 women: Laurel (his past) Susan (his present) and Felicity (his future and always).  Learn from the past and present to make way for the future.

I still believe this; we have been told in one way or another (by the cast, the directors, the narrative etc) that Olicity will rise again and that their time is coming. Soon.

BE angry at this episode! Go for it. They want you to be livid so that they can surprise, shock and awe us all later like in season 3!

But don’t judge any later progression or any episode following this on number 15. In fact, leave episode 15 behind at the door. It isn’t needed anymore. It’s in the past.

In season 3, after episode 15 aired, the fandom threw an absolute shit fit.

Looking back at it, it was hilarious; we had nothing to worry about.

But at the time, it was awful. No one wanted to see Felicity with Ray whilst Oliver lay on a dungeon floor, while Oliver pinned. And we had to wait TWO WEEKS before episode 16 aired.

Remember episode 16? Like the sun shining again we received these little spots of hope. She’d slept with a man who ISN’T Oliver and yet, none of their chemistry was diminished. In fact; it just showed us that even sex can’t get in their way.

In that relationship Felicity and Ray fell out with each other because of the truth or lack of it. They got back together shortly afterwards.

Felicity and Billy did the same: I think they actually did it twice.

Now, so have Oliver and Susan.

Another deliberate tool.

Regardless of what happens, Felicity’s lack of blame on Oliver will reflect brightly on the very real blame SW will throw at him. The actor playing Chase has confirmed that an odd relationship will build between him and Susan and that she may feel betrayed by Oliver.

She may come to hate that she developed feelings for him, but be unable to act on it BECAUSE of her feelings for him.

Felicity couldn’t be played with – couldn’t be marred - but Susan can. Because she’s weak. Because she isn’t fit to be Oliver’s love interest. Because, like with Billy, she’s a tool.

We don’t care about Susan but we DO care about Olicity and this should generate a reaction from them both.

Now, I didn’t see Oliver as crapping all over his alter ego by labelling the Green Arrow a criminal. I think it could have been done far better but I also saw it as two things: first, he was taking on the sins and pains of others (like they do with some comic superheroes; they make them into Jesus figures) and second, because Prometheus wanted him to do it.

And Prometheus has been very adept so far at making Oliver go down the route he wishes him to.

The big reveal for Prometheus was lame (maybe it’s MEANT to be) but you can’t deny the man is a criminal mastermind. In a way, he’s more capable than any other bad guy has been at hurting Oliver. And Oliver has no idea how close he is to loosing EVERYTHING.

We already know that Thea and Felicity are his big ‘no-no’s’. Criminals do not touch them and live to tell the tale.

Yet he as lost them both: he just lost Thea (she’ll return a little later on) and Felicity – though he doesn’t know it – is already gone.

Worse, she went away and no one noticed.

Bear in mind that we’ve been told by Marc G, that Oliver will end the season balanced as a hero: he’ll be both Oliver Queen and the Green Arrow. So obviously this ‘let’s vilify my alter ego to by us time’ moment of glory was just that: a moment. An episode to show that Oliver Queen has evolved just as much as his alias.

Remember Talia who gave him the outfit to wear so that he could ‘vent’ for lack of a better word, his demons? So he could express his violence so that he could wear the mask of Oliver Queen?

Well, he doesn’t NEED it anymore.

But soon he’ll CHOOSE it. And he’ll do it in front of an audience Star City.

And a big part of how he’ll do that will be Felicity. There’s no way he can become this balance human without knowing she’s right there with him, balanced too. Either he’ll step up to guide her or her actions will push him in her direction but it will include her.

What I’m trying to say, is that – in terms of Oliver and Felicity, this is the low point. I’m concentrating upwards.

Admittedly I’m hastened on this by Stephen who answered some ‘damage control’ questions earlier. One of the things he stated was that a lot of Oliver’s choices that people are hating on so much are a sign that Prometheus’s plan is working. Oliver isn’t out of the woods yet: this is a decline. The next 3 episodes will decide the fate of SW and Oliver and either someone will die OR something very bad will happen to someone.

Even with this crap, I can still see a love scene guys. Pacing has always been an issue: don’t think they won’t do it. And we know (like with 3x20) how much can change in 1 episode. But love scene or no, I’m watching till the end and believe that we’ll see what we need to.

A reunion.

The narrative STILL leads there. If it changes then I’ll change my opinion.

(I d have a lot of OTHER thoughts about Oliver in this episode though… Jesus)
